Overall an ok stay. Staff were friendly but the room was dated and tired. Peeling wallpaper, the in room cooling fan was difficult to use and not very good. Good size room but old feel and look. Would stay again.

When we checked in, a lovely young lady greeted us. She was helpful and explained the parking and the times when the desk is not manned, which is 10. PM. The room was very clean, with no visual signs of mould. The windows, on the other had could not close due to broken handles and swollen window frames. We went for breakfast this morning. My husband and I explained to the server that we would like a full English breakfast but a vegetarian option. The breakfast cost us £9 + I was so disappointed when the breakfast arrived; we were given 2 tablespoons of beans and tomatoes. 1 very greasy hash brown and an egg, no vegetarian sausage on the plate. When I asked the server where the sausage was, he said he didn't write it down. He was apologetic and told us he was a new staff member. When we left the hotel, I realised that the server did not give me a receipt or give me my change. How can they serve such a low-grade breakfast for that price? If so many people have complained about this hotel, why hasn't it been investigated by the Health and Safety Executive? The fact that the windows do not close is a security breach! The price they charge for the breakfast is unethical. Why would my husband and I order and pay for 2 teaspoons of beans and tomatoes, 4 mushrooms and 1 hash brown without our sausage? What they gave us was not a breakfast. I would not recommend this hotel and will never visit it again. The girl who checked us in at reception gets a 4-star rating from us.

This review would have been bad all round but for a very helpful check-in staff(didn’t get her name but you know who you are). The first room I was given was so bad. It smelled stale, looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in a long while and just wasn’t worth the money paid. I went down to reception and thankfully there was this other staff who upgraded me to their wedding suite. She made the entire experience a little bit more manageable. The overall experience was so bad I was up by 5am to get out of there. If the owners would just invest a bit of money in this property, the potential is there to be a very beautiful hotel, but right now not worth the money.
