Hayfield Manor

Best hotel in Cork city. Welcoming staff, very helpful. Good dining and bar options. Bathrooms were remodelled during pandemic and are holding up well, can’t say the same for the carpeting, which needs to be redone. Gym is subpar for a 5 star hotel, I think that the owner must not be a fitness lover.

The staff here are simply wonderful. Very friendly and helpful. Our room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. Breakfast was superb, and the swimming pool was excellent. Appreciated the plsuh bathrobes and discreet access without having to cross the lobby. Having separate areas in the bar area and library reserved for hotel guests was lovely and appreciated during the busy holiday season.

Everything is perfect. Just a gorgeous hotel, service, food, spa, staff. A wonderful stay. 5 star! Thank You.

If this was my first stay at Hayfield, the review would probably be better. Since my last visit, Hayfield has shrunk the once majestic reception area to squeeze as many $500 a night guests in as they can. The hotel is now extremely crowded (if you do plan to stay there, book meal reservations a week in advance now). The extra help they’ve had to hire in order to accommodate the huge number of guests are significantly less polished and less experienced. No one picked up our room our entire stay and someone would come banging on our door (not using the bell) after 9pm offering turn down service-but we would already be in bed. The food is still good- at least what we could get on the room service menu, which is just a few items. The pool and spa were crowded and no longer the tranquil oasis I remember. Everything was packed- the parlor, parking lot, every landing, and especially downstairs. With the renovations, Hayfield has taken on a feel more of an outdated Hilton instead of the timeless institution it once was. A shame. That being said, Noel was wonderful and went above and beyond. Didn’t get to see Frank this visit.

Great location, onsite parking was great. Meals were very good, and the site staff were very friendly and incredibly helpful.

We had a lovely stay overall—the location is excellent, easy walking distance to the city, and the pool and spa were absolutely fantastic. The staff were friendly and helpful, which made a great impression. A couple of small things: our room wasn’t quite ready when we arrived, which caused a bit of a delay as we had people waiting on us. Also, one of the dining rooms was closed for the evening, so we had to eat in our room and pay the room service delivery fee—not a huge deal, just a bit frustrating. That said, we’d still happily recommend the property.

This place is unbelievable. Clean and classy. It’s Close to town. The entire staff were amazing from the door man to the wait staff. The ambience and overall environment reminds you that you are in a 5 star hotel. This is one of my favorite place. Highly recommend worth the money! I can’t say enough good things.

Clean room, pleasant team

The property is dated and in desperate need of a refresh. Was rather disappointed to see the condition of the property and was expecting better conditions given the five stars in our room and the property in general. However, the staff was wonderful, and the breakfast was excellent.

Wonderful experience! The Manor was beautiful & cozy feeling. The room was amazing & so was the bathroom. Everything was super well maintained & very clean. Highly recommend!

Staff was extremely friendly and service was good unfortunately, our room was nothing like the pictures on Expedia. Extremely outdated. The fabric headboard had a huge stain on it. Toilet didn’t work and bathroom sideboard was moldy. Not worth the rate we were charged.

There is nothing that I could think of that I did not like about the accommodation. Extremely clean and well kept, nice ambiance and quiet, staff is very friendly and attentive. Thank you.

Comfortable beds, super clean rooms and great staff, specially Raquel from Breakfast!

Hayfield Manor is an outstanding hotel! The room and grounds were easily as good or better than expected for this price point. The building is historical and charming but with modern conveniences, e.g. heated towel racks and remote controlled AC (yes I needed to cool the room despite being Ireland in November and it was great to have AC). The room was large, the included breakfast was delicious and served by extremely thoughtful servers. By far the best thing about the hotel was the staff! Without a doubt this was the best hotel staff that my wife and I have ever experienced. They did things for us that you wouldn't have asked for but realized you appreciated (got the car in the rain, carried bags whenever they possibly could, etc.). Best of all they found ways to help us without our asking and without our feeling guilty they were doing things for us. Everyone had a real sense of humor which was such a nice change (or maybe they were just trained to laugh at my probably poor "Dad Jokes"), either way it was great. An example of the level of thoughtfulness occurred as we checked out. I told the wonderful young woman at the check out desk that we loved the turn down chocolates (an Irish brand not available in the USA) and that we would like to buy a small bag if possible. She excused herself for a minute and came back with a large box of the chocolates as well as a hotel branded chocolate bar. She wouldn't take money and cheerfully gave us the chocolates! Hayfield Manor is fabulous - gorgeous grounds, lobby area and food in restaurant is excellent I was really disappointed however with the superior room, it was not like the pictures on the website, room 237 and it was extremely expensive so I was not very happy with it.

The Hayfield Manor was a lovely place to stay while we explored Cork and the surrounding areas. The hotel is currently undergoing some renovations, but our room was already completed -- and it was beautiful with great touches like the Victrola and records, bath salts for the enormous bathtub (hint: the drain plug works by spinning it sideways), heated tiles in the bathroom, and the most comfortable bed we've ever encountered in a hotel. The hotel has a lovely garden that we would have enjoyed had it not been raining! The in-house restaurants are delicious. The carpet in some areas of the hotel appear worn, but it had been replaced in our room. The hotel is about a 20-25 minute walk to St. Fin Barre's Cathedral and the English Market. We also enjoyed exploring the grounds at University College Cork, directly across the street from Hayfield Manor. A short walk is the beautiful Fitzgerald Park with a magical fairy tree (that's what I call it, anyway -- it is covered with mosaic glass!), a pond, a playground, and a rose garden on the banks of the river. Note that this hotel is "old school" in that you are offered a sip of Irish whiskey upon arrival, and room keys are actual keys that must be turned in at the front desk whenever you leave the property. The staff are attentive and observant: when we entered after an excursion to the English Market and I came in with flowers, they brought a vase and scissors to our room so we could arrange them before we could even ask.

Fantastic hotel and staff

Beautiful hotel - our favorite stay in Ireland! The room was great, we loved the spa and breakfast was wonderful. The staff was very conscious of food allergies, which was appreciated. The only downside is that the doorman/ bellhops were a bit aggressive upon arrival. We prefer to take our own luggage to the room and had to be a bit stern. But otherwise, our stay was perfect. Highly recommend!

Staying in Hayfield Manor was a unique experience. We loved the pool and jacuzzi. The dinner was great. However the bread that was served for breakfast was stale and old . Service in general was good, except for the front desk staff, the young lady. She was not friendly and welcoming and felt like she was not in the mood!

Everything was absolutely perfect. The service was the best I have ever experienced. Every staff member we met went out of their way to welcome us and help us in any way possible. They were so friendly and genuine. This is truly the best hotel we have ever stayed at.

This is a fantastic place to stay! From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel incredibly welcome. The concierge was particularly excellent, providing us with invaluable tips that made our trip unforgettable. The restaurants were also outstanding, offering delicious food and a wonderful dining experience. A truly exceptional stay!

Superb hotel from start to finish, stayed 3 nights, location is just 20 mins walk from the centre. fast painless check in, lovely room, quality breakfast but the main thing that makes this hotel superb is the staff all great, a special thanks to Frank (front of house) and all the lads behind the bar that made the stay extra special. We treated ourselves to a fancy hotel for our anniversary and it was great. This was an expensive two days, but I never once thought it wasn’t worth it. The place is beautiful. It has character and charm. The staff is wonderful m. It has two fantastic restaurants and a wonderful bar, lovely courtyard for an afternoon drink.
