Clontarf Castle Hotel

Easy check in/ check out. Free parking- easily accessible. Such a nice place to stay! We’re only there for one night, wish it was longer. The castle is so beautiful and the rooms were so comfy!

Great choice if you need to be near the airport or the sea. Historic building. Fahrenheit Restaurant is excellent for dinner (recommend to book B&B too, which is a good buffet style breafast served in the Fahrenheit restaurant)

Our stay was nice here. I was a little disappointed in the room itself, since it was so nice on the outside and the lobby. They also have no amenities other than a tiny gym.

Beautiful property. Great pub and food

This is an awesome place - ancient and modern, historic, wonderful art, the restaurant was very good, and they have a free parking lot, and the grounds are lovely. It isn't close to City Centre but it feels like an elegant retreat.

Hotel is beautiful just like the photos! However they had private events there the entire time we stayed which made it feel less castle like and more venue like. They had a lounge that was closed every night for these other private events. Basically you are 4 miles from the city center with nothing to do in the hotel. On their website it says there’s a shuttle but that’s not accurate, you have to walk a few blocks to the local bus, which is fine since we were there to explore Dublin, however a cab back to the hotel is about 20-30 eur because the bus does not leave you where most attractions are so you either take another bus or walk. Hotel was basically too far and too boring! We did eat at the one place you can eat there, since the other one is a “fancy” restaurant and you need reservations, but we gladly ate, service was good and great food! Rooms were very clean, but outdated and their USB plugs didn’t work. Also their blow dryer was attached inside a drawer in their tv stand, which is super odd and inconvenient. Breakfast buffet was cute, not many options but you would not be hungry leaving there. Check times as Sundays they open later! We weren’t aware had to catch a flight and couldn’t eat beforehand since it opened later then every other day we were there.( to be fair that could have been our lack of reading since they had a huge binder of everything you need to know). Their free WiFi is terrible! Went in and out.

The front desk staff was exceptional. Arthur greeted me with a smile and calm demeanor every day I was there. He even knew my name by day 2. I also love how they will call a taxi for you so you don't have to use Uber. My first day I took a walk into the town of Clontarf down by Dublin Harbour. Lots of small shops and pubs within a 10 minute radius. Very walkable area. There's so much history within the hotel and I loved the tiny fitness center tucked away on the bottom level. The Knights Bar had great food. My favorite was the apple tart with vanilla ice cream. An extremely satisfying stay.

Be sure to stop by the Knight's restaurant for great food, drink and service.

Beautiful property, great staff and lots of parking

Wonderful hotel. Beautiful inside the castle. Rooms are actually part of a newer addition added onto the castle but very luxurious & spacious. Located in Clontarf which is outside the city center but a beautiful area & close to the port if you’re taking the ferry. Main Restaurant was not open but the lounge restaurant was very good with adequate selections & great service.

Bathroom was well below standard for a 4 star hotel the sink plug and shower were disgusting there was dust on the wall paper and the top of the wardrobe was absolutely thick with dust very disappointed paid 762 pound for a 2 night really not worth the money

Exceptional hotel. How often do you get to stay in castle, a historic real castle with all the modern amenities to make it super comfortable. The staff are all friendly and very accommodating to all your needs. When it comes to cleanliness it was spotless. Even the highest end hotels have flaws here and there but I honestly I couldn’t find anything. If you are ever in the Dublin area I would highly recommend finding a way to stay here. Five stars. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Lovely bright room, immaculately clean and well decorated. The bed was extremely comfortable and so were the sheets and pillows. This is a very well ran, professional hotel

We enjoyed our stay here. The castle is quaint with nice period touches. Staff were more businesslike than friendly but that did not affect our stay. Our room was mostly clean but the bathroom could have been cleaner. There were a few long black hairs on the floor & they had not emptied the trashcan under the sink.

Very nice room, lovely art throughout the property and interesting and fun decor. The room was really clean, the bed was comfortable and a nice modern bathroom.

Lovely comfortable room and especially bed. Hotel was very busy due to a conference on Friday when we arrived and a wedding on Saturday, so quite noisy in the communal areas. Food in both restaurants was good but service in Farenheit was a bit slow. Buffet breakfast was okay, but often seemed to run out before being topped up, so you had to chhose your timing carefully. Pastries were very good though and there was a good choice. I asked for poached eggs both days and they were perfectly cooked. Overall a pleasant stay in a good location, but it's not a cheap hotel so you do expect something special.

Way overrated !! Room was subpar. Noise from wedding kept us up past 1:00am - we were on the third floor.

The clontarf Castle hotel is a beautiful property. It was fun to walk around and see all of the little seating areas and nooks to have a drink in. All staff was very nice and helpful. There were two small downsides to staying here. The first one was that we were placed in a room with a door that combines to another room. We were able to hear our neighbor's conversations through the door. We also opted out on having dinner in the castle because there was a strange smell (almost that of canned cat food) coming from the kitchens that was very unappealing. Other than this we had a beautiful night. The hotel is beautifully decorated and it was nice to sit in the lobby by the fireplace enjoying a cocktail.

For a historic building , we were pleased by the very modern amenities with a large, updated walk in shower and international electrical outlets. It is very easy and quick to take the bus to the center of Dublin where most tourist sites are within walking distance. Located in a beautiful neighbourhood and close to the sea.

The outside of the property was beautiful. Sadly, the inside is showing it's age. Our room was clean, but definitely worn down.

Overall, nice hotel due to friendly staff and great breakfast. Room and bed were comfortable. The carpets in our room and the hallways look a little worn and tired. Replacing them could make a big difference.

Nice property in regards to overall appearance. Check in was very good. However bar service very inattentive along with restaurant service for dinner and breakfast. Breakfast was out of plates and when I notified staff no response for over 15 min. Also no milk out for cereal. Overall disappointing for price paid.

We rang ahead to request early check-in as we were driving from Belfast for a 3pm wedding at the hotel and needed time to get ourselves and our baby ready. Although staff said they’d “try their best,” when we arrived at 1:20pm the room still wasn’t ready, and it felt like no consideration had been given to our request. We ended up having to get ready in the guest toilets before the wedding. Very disappointing service. The room was nice and clean.

We stayed here for the first two nights of our trip to Dublin and Ireland. The hotel is beautifully built into and around the Clontarf Castle. The entry into the facility is majestic and well done. It’s the perfect blend of the old with the modern. The staff was incredible warm and helpful. It was the first time that the housekeeping staff engaged with us about our plans and how they would take care of room for us while we were out sightseeing. I found this exchange to be amazing and so welcoming. Finally, it was quite the experience to stay in a castle and enjoy all of the amenities, hospitality, of the facility. We felt like we were being treated like nobility in a castle. It was a remarkable experience for us and we loved it. We definitely recommend it!

This hotel hit the mark it has stunning grounds and a beautiful exterior and lobby. The restaurant service was not great but the hotel made sure they made it right. I highly recommend visiting this hotel.

The staff were fantastic. We arrived early at 9:30am and weren’t scheduled to check in until 3:00pm. The front desk suggested we get breakfast first and once we were finished, they were able to have our room ready at 11:00am. This allowed for a quick nap before our Dublin adventure. The room was clean, quiet and the hotel was far enough away from the heart of Dublin but an easy 10 min taxi ride to city center. Would recommend and would stay again.

Staff are great

The staff were very friendly and helpful as well as compensated us without hesitation for a mistake that came up with our booking. The hotel was quiet and clean and was a great place to relax after being out for the day.

Very nice stay however service was not friendly

Fortunately, our stay was quite short, just an overnight. But it was a beautiful hotel/castle and a nice area of Dublin a little removed from the craziness of city center. Would recommend.

The Clontarf Castle is in a very walkable area and the bus is literally right outside the property.

I chose the Clontarf Castle because it was on our bucket list to stay in a castle. It is a beautiful, clean, updated hotel and we very much enjoyed our stay. It is located in the suburbs so it was inconvenient and expensive to taxi to/from Dublin to sightsee and meet up with our tour but it is a much nicer place to stay than the hotels I saw in Dublin City.

Room was clean, service was friendly, lobby and grounds are beautiful. A little out of the way from Dublin’s tourist area, so quieter, but not foreign to taxi drivers and easy to go back and forth. Always get the breakfast buffet. It’s a massive, grand spread, and we regret even trying room service and skipping it the first day.

Located just outside Dublin City. We stayed last night before leaving Ireland & it was perfect. Close to airport- we were driving. Parking was easy Walkable to promenade along waterfront. Shops, restaurants within area but great pub & food onsite. Staff were friendly & accommodating.

We loved the ambience and history of the building. The architecture and the design inside was spectacular. We also found it far from downtown and the airport but also understand that it is old and meant to protect the city many centuries ago.

Interior was amazing. Beds were super comfy. I would stay there again in a heart beat. Only issue is getting into the city area requires a 20 euro taxi unless you take the bus.

We have had a very nice stay at the Clontarf castle hotel as we are celebrating our 40th anniversary! The staff are all so welcoming. The knights bar food was fabulous. Very comfortable room, slept so good. Looking forward to Breakfast.

The Castle is splendid. Food good although the fine dining restaurant was not open till Thursday so we missed that. Great place however

We very much enjoyed our one-night stay. It was too windy and rainy to check out the property but the inside ambiance was warm and cozy. We found our room very nice and clean. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Food in the Knight's Bar was just okay and service was a bit slow. Expected a bit more in that area for the money. Was very happy with the in-room breakfast we got before leaving. It arrived in time, was good value and tasted great.

Staff and food were terrible. I got food poisoning from their salad.

The restaurants smelled terrible like fish and they were not all open

Clontarf Castle is a wonderful hotel with amazing decor and art. The room was a bit on the smaller side, but otherwise was excellent, very clean, with a good sized bathroom. The bar is lovely with great service. The hotel strives for luxury, and succeeds in many ways, but was seriously let down by the breakfast service. The manager was very good, but the rest of the staff seemed, at best, disinterested. Food was delivered and the servers said almost nothing, did not look at us, and nobody came by to ensure that everything was okay. That is an area that needs serious improvement if the Castle wants to deliver a truly luxurious experience
