Great location and included parking! The room was very clean and quiet. This property is older, with its only window looking out on the corridor, but the room was nice and clean and staff was terrific. Will stay here again

Parking is a gamble if arriving in the evening. I got lucky but not always guaranteed. Room is average, bathroom shower took a very long time for water to get hot. It was pretty quiet after 10p, neighborhood seems safe and you can’t really hear the road traffic. TV remote did not work. Overall, it was an average stay

Room was average. Bathroom tile grout was moldy in many places. Shower spayed water beyond curtain protective barrier. I fixed the shower head myself. With a request, the room service people removed most or all of the mold on the tile grout. Parking is advertised as free, first come, first served. My friend was unable to park his car at the motel even though he got there early and was already parked. He ended up parking at the city hall parking structure 1 block down for $32/night. Point is, nothing on the website says two separate parties sharing a room can't both park in the motel parking lot. Another thing is that. Desk lamp would not stay bright and constantly blinked. I reported it to the management but the problem was never rectified. The best thing that facility has going for it is comfortable bedding. The maids do not clean or make the beds unless asked. When I stay at other SF hotels, the rooms and beds are cleaned each day and fresh towels are provided for the bathrooms. Friendly staff, comfortable room, great water pressure. There is a restaurant on site that serves really good burgers. Luckily I have a handicap placard so I was able to find the last parking spot.

Just an overnight stay to attend the opera. Location was great and the parking was a bonus, although it is limited. The hotel is a little funky, especially the elevator, but the room was large and very comfortable.

Check in was slow, as there was only one person to handle check in, parking and questions. Parking is limited, we arrived about 4pm and got the last space. The room itself was ok, but not very clean and it was very noisy until about 1am due to a very drunk and irate person yelling and trying to kick the door down (next door to our room). Aside from this unusual incident the overall value for the price was not too bad except for the lack of cleanliness. Although the location is perfect for us, we will not go back.

This seems to be a San Francisco hidden gem! Although not a ‘classic hotel’ the room was very spacious and impeccably clean. The bathroom is small but it was fine for me. It was clean and the shower was better than most I’ve had at luxury hotels. The location was great and many places are within easy walking distance. If you’re driving they do have a small parking lot but I personally never drive to SF. The neighborhood felt self and I wasn’t afraid walking around well after dark. I will definitely stay here again when I return to SF (3-4 times/year). Highly recommended!

Very clean and tidy property. The room was quiet, clean and no issues with anything. Its hard finding a hotel that offer free parking in sf, so this place is perfect. The staff are nice and accommodating. There were plenty of places near by to eat and shop at with in waling distances.

Let me first preference by saying we did not end up spending the night there. Our event got out relatively early and as I was not feeling well, we decided to drive the two hours back home. My daughter was very happy to leave as she was certain there would be bed bugs… The inside was decorated nicely. Only a little bit of mold in the tub/shower… I do have to say I was very surprised at the condition of the hotel both outside and in, as it got really great ratings on hotels.com. It was obviously old and rundown. One of the reasons I picked that hotel was because of the parking. However, parking was not guaranteed but they did have a first come first serve policy. We did find a place to park. It was very close to our venue, the Herbst Theater in San Francisco. We were able to walk there and the walk was well lit. The young man who checked us in was very nice. There was pigeon poop on the stairs and stair railing and all along the walkway to the individual rooms. The door to the elevator was locked. At 9 o’clock, only one of the entryways to the stairs was opened.

Location. The location is great. Super walkable to Hayes Valley shops & food. I stayed because of its close proximity to Davies Symphony Hall. The customer service and staff were very kind and helpful. The price is also what you pay for. The quality of the room was its main drawback. The carpet was worn (there was full divot at threshold of the bathroom). The furniture was pretty scuffed and worn. There were light fixtures with no bulbs in them or switches. The lampshade had obvious stains. The LED bulbs they use flash at night (probably due to old wiring?). The bathtub’s nonskid was coming off and the shower curtain could use a new one or a good cleaning. The bed was very firm which was nice. The pillows however were super lumpy and small. A good sized closet considering the age of the hotel and size of room. It was actually very quiet which was an added benefit. It’s not the worst room or place, it just needs updating and replacing of things. I wouldn’t stay here again.

For the two of us the location was great, and the staff was very nice. For an ADA room there were no handicap grab bars in the bathroom, there was a jacuzzi bathtub that did not work, and was a hazard stepping over to get in shower without grab bars. The hot water in the shower turns to scalding hot without warning. The room does not have any luggage stands so you need to lay your suitcases on the floor, there are no lamps on the desk or on an odd dresser below the tv, only bright ceiling recessed lighting. You have to ask for a hair dryer at check in, and return it when you check out. These are not major issues and can be easily remedied by the owners. All in all we would stay again, basically do to the location and free parking.

Staff was fine, rooms are very misleading to the pictures you see online. Pretty noisy, and the bathroom is a great place for a concussion when trying to was your face. The free parking is worth it.

Two teens, two adults. We had a room with 2 king beds which was great and the space in the room was good, it felt roomy enough. The beds, however, were SO uncomfortable and had a plastic crinkle noise which was annoying. There was also no way to fully block out the light at night while sleeping. There were no hair dryers, but they can be requested at the front desk. As with every hotel room ever, there needs to be some hooks for coats and in the bathroom to help get stuff off the table/desk area! The front desk people were nice and let us keep our luggage in the closet before our room was ready.

The general manager Biren was extremely accommodating and friendly. It is hard to find clean reasonably priced hotels with free parking lots on site in San Francisco, so this is a real gem in the city. Location was convenient and near many restaurants. Neighborhood seemed safe and our vehicle was not broken in to while we parked here, which generally happens to us when we are in the city. We even got to park under a covered area! We will definitely be back. Thanks!

The owner and staff what makes this place way more than I expected. In the beginning I was a little worrie, the rooms are relatively small and have old decor. But a few steps away the neighborhood is vibrant with a number of eclectic, restaurants or places just go sit and have a drink. They are planning to rebuild the property and when they do, it will be one of those hidden gems, in a cool neighborhood, in a city that is bringing itself back to splendor.

We had a fantastic stay at the Inn on Grove, and the highlight was without a doubt Biren at the front desk. From the moment we walked in, he greeted us with the kind of warmth and friendliness that instantly made us feel at home. He was incredibly accommodating and went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable throughout our stay. Biren has that rare combination of professionalism and personality — he’s extremely helpful, full of great local tips, and has a wonderful sense of humor that put us at ease right away. It felt like we were being welcomed by a longtime friend rather than checking into a hotel. Thanks to Biren, our trip got off to the best possible start. We had a fantastic stay at the Inn on Grove, and the highlight was without a doubt Biren at the front desk. From the moment we walked in, he greeted us with the kind of warmth and friendliness that instantly made us feel at home. He was incredibly accommodating and went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable throughout our stay. Biren has that rare combination of professionalism and personality — he’s extremely helpful, full of great local tips, and has a wonderful sense of humor that put us at ease right away. It felt like we were being welcomed by a longtime friend rather than checking into a hotel. Thanks to Biren, our trip got off to the best possible start. The good: I received amazing service from the friendly front desk agent, Biren. He went above and beyond when I arrived a bit early to make sure my room was ready, and to give great suggestions for places to grab a bite to eat while my room was being finished. My room was clean, well appointed for the price, and everything worked well. It's obvious that this property has been updated/refreshed, and the fresh bedding/linens in the room made it comfortable. You'll even find the little "extras" some of the big hotel chains provide (soap, lotion, shampoo/conditioner), curved shower rod & HOT water/adjustable showerheads. The "know before you go": The property is more "motel" than "hotel" in appearance/value - exterior entry doors (though the locks work well, and the area is well lit/populated) directly to the parking lot. Don't let that scare you off--it's an adorable property! If mobility challenged, ask for 1st floor as exterior stairs to the rooms would be challenging for able-bodied guests w/ luggage; there IS an elevator but it is more like an old school "lift" (small, pull door to access, but it does work well) and there are still steps along the walkways. Definitely recommend the Inn on Grove!

Man at the front desk was very rude! Yelled at me for no reason over a misunderstanding we both had. All cause I booked online and had to wait for it to pop up but he didn’t want to wait on me to take my card out to pay. Like he just hella rude no reason.

The Inn on Grove is a hidden gem! The location is within walking distance of city hall and several performance halls. The property is attractive, clean and well maintained. And the staff is extremely helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. Plus there is free parking!

Location being by many amazing restaurants was awesome! Really close to Painted Ladies and a short Lyft or walk (if you don’t mind hills) to many of the tourist attractions in the city. Felt super safe, which was one of my main concerns when looking for places to stay in San Francisco. Definitely recommend if you are looking for a more affordable place to stay in the city

Biren at check-in was very friendly, got us into our room a little early, nice! Two blocks from Hayes/Octavia, walking distance to Divisidero — we saw a phenomenal rock band (Beasto Blanco) at The Independent. Clean, a little funky, super small elevator but good stairs. Great restaurants nearby.

This is a great place to stay if you’re coming to the city. It is located in the fun and social Hayes Valley and there is plenty to do, eat, shop and explore. The motel is quiet and clean, there’s parking which is worth it alone but you are not far from downtown but don’t have to listen to the loud noises of the city. Buses are across the street and there’s a Trader Joe’s around the corner. Staff is friendly and helpful.
