Arrived in the evening during the month of November. Lighting in the car park area could do with improvement. Otherwise hotel is very nice indeed with friendly and helpful staff.

Everything about this place was top-shelf! From the wonderful entrance to the hallways leading to the spacious well-equipped rooms, to the excellent food in the restaurant and the smooth drinks from the bar. However the “Great Room” which is the oldest location of Maryculter House (dating back to the 1200’s) was simply amazing! Sitting quietly in the great room both late in the evening or early in the morning, you are overcome with the past and those who shared this room throughout the centuries! Walking the grounds is a relaxing experience to give you a break from the go, go, go of travel. We can’t recommend Maryculter House enough, and thank our friends who recommended it to us!

Absolutely stunning property. We had a ground floor room dog friendly, there was a luxury dog bed bowl and treats waiting for our dog. Beautiful walking area along the river. Room was luxurious and very comfortable bed. We ate dinner in the restaurant choice and quality was 5 star. The staff were extremely helpful and very friendly. Would stsy there again in a heartbeat.

The hotel is set in a quiet countryside area,the grounds are well-maintained,the directions to the parking are clearly signposted,there’s plenty of parking,the directions to the reception are clearly signposted,check-in was straightforward,the room was big and clean and the WiFi was decent.Hopefully I’ll get a chance to go back if back up on business

This is a great hotel on the banks of the river with lovely views Our room was fantastic with a large bathroom including big bath and separate shower cubicle Staff were all excellent and good fun as well Great choice of dishes on the menu and lovely food when it arrived. They have a great snug bar in an old part of the hotel with proper fires as well Brilliant place to stay at

This is a lovely hotel right on the banks of River Dee. Staff are always very friendly and helpful and the hotel had some lovely quirky relaxation areas eg the main hall with large open fire, several comfortable chairs/sofa's, suits of armour etc

This hotel is very affordable, and seems to cater to business travelers during the week. Hotel could use some sprucing up. Hallways need fresh paint and while the bathroom looked great, my shower did overflow a bit. The great room was 800 years old and in general the gathering rooms had a fishing and hunting vibe. Situated on the river Dee and with an old church ruin on the grounds, it was a very picturesque spot. Staff was helpful and friendly, I would recommend this hotel to friends as an affordable and pleasant accommodation.

The website shows pictures of most of the rooms, however there are a few that don’t appear to have been renovated, and these rooms don’t appear on the website. These older rooms are in a listed part of the building where you constantly hear pumps that maintain water pressure. Although it isn’t constant, it is frequent and goes on and off all the time. The room was tired and had stains down the walls, cobwebs in corners and on the light fixture. Where bulbs weren’t working, it highlighted the accumulation of dust. I would come back to the hotel, but would definitely not stay in the same part of the building.

Perfect getaway in room 'Benholm' Views from the room of the river were so lovely especially while soaking in the roll top bath. Everything from lunch when we arrived to breakfast the next morning was just fab. Will definitely be returning even if it is only a 10 minute drive from the house!

My wife and I stayed in Room 207 (Fraser) and our sleep was constantly interupted by a suspected water pump (that is located in a service cupboard inside the room!) which was going off every 5 minutes. We did not report this at the time due to being a guest at the wedding. We did complain upon check out, with evidence of the issue recorded on my phone, and the young girl who was attending reception laughed and said that nobody has raised that issue before but said it would investigated - no acknowledgement was given to our awful nights stay, and not even a verbal apology. We also didnt realise until after departure that we had been charged for two breakfasts when only one of us attended breakfast.

Overall an almost great wpxerince. The property sits right on the River Dee, which our room overlooked. Very nice room but the mattress has seen better days…no spring! The dinner at the onsite restaurant was amazing; breakfast was lacking in comparison…how do you mess up orange juice?. The staff were very nice and helpful.

The person who checked us in was lovely. The room was fine. The view was great. We ate in the restaurant and the food was okay. The service in the restaurant for dinner was terrible. After dropping off our meals, we never saw the server again. Sat there for 45 minutes before we left and the front desk person tracked down the bill for the meal and charged it to our room.

Loved the staff, loved their smart uniforms, their polite, freindly but proffesional nature. A cut above anywhere i have stayed in the UK, wish i could give them an extra star. The place is amazing too, good size luxury room. Breakfast individually cooked (not buffet). Just perfect.

The Maryculter House is a short drive out from the city with plenty of on site parking. The rooms are spacious and many offer breathtaking views of the river Dee . The staff are helpful and attentive especially the restaurant staff who are exceptional. This hotel is very popular for weddings so it can often be busy but still nice a quiet . Staff were marvelous in every way. The floor boards through the bedroom area were very loud and moved way too much under ones feet. Needs urgen repair. Dining was good especially the Sea Bream 10/10, sadly the Fillet steak at £39 was dissapointing. If it was Fillet. 3/10 It's lovely place, fix the floorboards and take the fillet off the menu.

What an exceptional hotel this is! We had the most memorable stay everything was just spot on. The staff were all amazing especially the lovely Pam! I would highly recommend this hotel if you want a truly special couple of nights in stunning surroundings.

My stay at this hotel has become religious as I stay at least 1 night a month sometimes 2. It is an outstanding hotel with the staff extremely kind and helpful. The food is absolutely amazing. I can not recommend this place enough.

Maryculter House is a lovely venue with beautiful surrounding scenery and a wealth of history. The rooms are nice although the standard rooms are a little cramped with furniture for two people and full wedding attire. Staff helpful and pleasant.

Lovely rooms. Beautiful building with plenty of character. Barman was super friendly and helpful-Alex. Breakfast was so-so. We did not have dinner. Great location for exploring Aberdeen and dunnotar castle Would stay again. //

The Maryculter House is a short drive out from the city with plenty of on site parking. The rooms are spacious and many offer breathtaking views of the river Dee . The staff are helpful and attentive especially the restaurant staff who are exceptional. This hotel is very popular for weddings so it can often be busy but still nice a quiet . Overall a great hotel with great staff and the best breakfast ever .

The Maryculter House hotel is set in picturesque grounds by the side of the river Dee, and is very popular for weddings as a result parking can be challenging despite there being lots of spaces . The rooms are spacious and often with spectacular veiws . The restaurant and staff offer a very relaxed and informal dinning experience with a menu that reflects the best of Scotland.

A very smart hotel, however i think their qualified chef must have been off when we visited. With the main evening meal the vegetables were cool and, I guess had been plated up long before the rump of lamb (whuch i had been told would be pink, but was well done). The meal wasn't cheap and over priced for the quality. The cooked breakfast was greasy. Fat oused out of the black pudding; the haggis; and the potato scone. They appeared to have been deep fried rather than quicky pan fried in very hot oil. I didn't complain as the waiting staff were rushed off their feet. All I can say is that the cooked breakfast at a Cumbrian B&B the previous day was much, much better. Nice hotel, but the catering really let it down on this visit.

Everything about this place was top-shelf! From the wonderful entrance to the hallways leading to the spacious well-equipped rooms, to the excellent food in the restaurant and the smooth drinks from the bar. However the “Great Room” which is the oldest location of Maryculter House (dating back to the 1200’s) was simply amazing! Sitting quietly in the great room both late in the evening or early in the morning, you are overcome with the past and those who shared this room throughout the centuries! Walking the grounds is a relaxing experience to give you a break from the go, go, go of travel. We can’t recommend Maryculter House enough, and thank our friends who recommended it to us!

Room was great, clean & nice new bathrooms. Staff all polite. Arrived @9pm told dining was available as well as room service. Called at 9:05 told restaurant was closed and I can only have soup or a sandwich!! 4am up for a flight, 9pm No ‘Cooked Meal’ but early guys, especially as I was asked if I would eat on arrival. The person who checked us in was lovely. The room was fine. The view was great. We ate in the restaurant and the food was okay. The service in the restaurant for dinner was terrible. After dropping off our meals, we never saw the server again. Sat there for 45 minutes before we left and the front desk person tracked down the bill for the meal and charged it to our room.

A beautiful hotel. Good size bedroom with an excellent en-suite. I would recommend the restaurant, had a delicious evening meal and the full Scottish breakfast was excellent.

Our third trip to Mary Cutler House and stayed for 2 days. The rooms as usual are comfortable and nice. However the dining was simply awful., which is a shame. In the past we've dined at Mary Cutler as we usually choose establishments to stay that have dining. Sent my French Onion soup back as it was extremely sweet ( had the taste of carmelized onion jam) and the roast was so salty it was barely edible. The cook ( certainly not a chef) is the only reason we would not return as the dinner food was completely deplorable. Breakfast however was quite good.

Staff were marvelous in every way. The floor boards through the bedroom area were very loud and moved way too much under ones feet. Needs urgen repair. Dining was good especially the Sea Bream 10/10, sadly the Fillet steak at £39 was dissapointing. If it was Fillet. 3/10 It's lovely place, fix the floorboards and take the fillet off the menu.

Overall an almost great wpxerince. The property sits right on the River Dee, which our room overlooked. Very nice room but the mattress has seen better days…no spring! The dinner at the onsite restaurant was amazing; breakfast was lacking in comparison…how do you mess up orange juice?. The staff were very nice and helpful.

Fabulous stay at this lovely hotel, beautifully situated on the banks of the River Dee. The room was very comfortable and the shower room was excellent. Would recommend having dinner as the food was delicious. Will be back for sure.

The service at Maryculter was excellent, the meals were of a very high standard, and the gardens and interior were beautifully maintained, bedrooms seem to be updated recentrly. The hotel’s historic character made our end-of-trip visit to Scotland even more special. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would happily return.

Clean room, very helpful staff, lovely selection for breakfast and good selection in the bar. Only downfall is it's not very wheelchair accessible which comes with the age of the building which is understandable
