Butlers Townhouse

The price is unmatched. There's two parking spots available at the property. If you arrive before other guests you can utilize these, otherwise there's plenty of street parking at a cost. We arrived after parking meter hours and left before it started to cost so that worked well. The room was nicely sized and decorated in a way that it reminded me of the castles we were visiting. Once I booked the room I received all the information I needed to get into the building and our room, as there is no host upon entering. They also provided information on where to find extra supplies if needed - towels, coffee, linens, etc. There isn't food/breakfast that is offered in case you were hoping for that. The area strikes me as residential so everything is within driving distance, but I cannot speak if it's walkable as we didn't do that. Overall, I was very impressed with the place for the price.

3rd floor, no lift

Great stay, everything was clean and hotel was lovely with a welcoming lounge and staff. No fridge in room but one in common lounge. Would stay again!

Easy to find, tho difficult to get parked as we were there for an international rugby match. Nearest car park a good 15 minutes walk away. Normally, I suspect you'd get parked on the metered street. Wonderful welcome from Luke who showed me to our room while the other half found the local carpark! Luke gave me lots of informative about the local amenities which we wanted to visit before and after the match, and in the morning for breakfast. The room itself was lovely. Very quiet, clean, perfect temperature and a wonderful 4 poster bed. Everything we needed was in the room but if we'd wanted the use of a coffee maker or microwave , those were in the living room. Luke made sure to say goodbye as we left in the morning. Will definitely be back.

Loved staying at my namesakes Townhouse haha! It was a great stay, loved the self check-in, very clear and informative instructions. Comfortable place and there was coffee available in the comfortable common area every morning. It was great to stay here.

Brilliant place to stay, beautiful lounge area on the ground floor and safe parking out front.

Definitely not a “hotel” as advertised and more of a guesthouse. Not much in the way of reception, no keycards for doors (it’s a 4 digit code), and no safety/bolt locks on the doors. No lift/elevator either. Staff was nice enough and the property has charm to it, but don’t go in expecting too much other than a nice place to sleep at night. If you’re out all day and just need a place to recharge, this is it)

We really enjoyed this location and how quiet it was. We were close to Dublin Bay, public transportation and shops but the small neighborhood feeling was most welcome. The sitting room was lovely with books, resources and a small refrigerator/microwave for tenant use. It was easy to walk to the sights of Dublin (about 2.5km), but returning to the cozy comfort of Butlers Townhouse was a wonderful way to end each day.

Having had family stay at Butler’s pre-Covid and say it was lovely, clean and well-run, I booked expecting the same. Unfortunately, interval change in ownership/management, and things have not changed for the better. Cleaning staff are on site during the day, but otherwise this hotel is remote-run. It is rated as 3.5/4 stars but really, I think it should be re-evaluated. Pros: - staff who were available were at least friendly, even if they couldn’t resolve the issues - location; convenient near Aviva/Luas, ballsbridge shops, and walkable to city center - preserved Georgian lounge room - comfy bed and pillow. Cons: - rooms badly need a deep clean and update: cobwebs and dust on most surfaces except for the sink and bedsheets (even drapes and bedskirts had dust bunnies), bathroom had mildew on ceilings and tiles, windowsill and carpets were dusty and old-looking, the room chairs were dirty and stained - window latches were partly broken (but the window opened!) - shower gel bottle was empty (wouldn’t this have been obvious to a cleaning team resetting the room between guests?) - shower flipped between warm/lukewarm and pressures were the same - have to ask a day ahead for more towels/room cleaning (we didn’t bother), or go to the basement and fetch them after hours - no room safe, limited luggage space that wasn’t the floor or a dusty wardrobe/desk Honestly, I’d seriously have think twice about staying here again.

I am absolutely stunned this has negative reviews, I can only assume the hotel has once again come under new management. Luke was absolutely amazing and extremely available throughout the entirety of our stay, always met us at the door to wish us a good day and even let us drop off our bags early when we arrived to early to check in. The room was spotless and had clearly been cleaned prior to check in. Facilities were everything you need, and the beds were comfy. TV was a bit spotty, but what are you doing coming to Dublin and watching the telly? Conveniently located, comfy, warm, well equipped and a cheaper place to stay- which is welcome in such a pricey city.

Room 4 has mould growing all around the walls. It stinks and should not be in use for guests. Staff moved us, but in general they were hard to reach and took too long to respond to messages.

We only stayed for the night, but the room was very clean and the bed was comfortable.The shower was also very good. The hotel itself is located in a quiet part of the city, with easy access to the centre by foot (about 25-30 mins) and there are lots of fuses to take you to town and the airport

Great stay. All the staff were super friendly. This was a good affordable option not too far from downtown. The room was cozy and clean.

Loved the location to Stadium for the Match. Very quiet after dark, not many pepple walking about. Food locations are within walking distance.Alot of steps which i expected with the age of building. My room was beautiful but felt dirty. Carpet was older and my shower curtain was dirty I also found hair on the bath tub wall before i showered.

Hotel is old and needs to be renovated. Carpet needs to be ripped out. Smells musty and damp. Mattress was old. Reserved a king size bed and got a queen size. Conveniently located near the Aviva stadium and shower has amazing pressure. But overall was not impressed especially with how much the room cost.

The room was beautifully comfortable, and definitely not "cookie cutter" with great chairs, bed and pillows. The bathroom was especially nice with a unique door into it and a deep, very clean tub that filled with wonderfully hot water. We stayed only two nights, but took a bath both evenings. Having air conditioning was also a wonderful surprise. Well done!!

Room was a strange one, a converted basement it seemed to me. It was freezing and the air con was so far away from bed it hadn’t much effect. There was a small mobile heater left in the room so they were aware of this obviously. Great location and value for the booking but not sure I’d stay if knowing I was getting this type of room again.

It is a historic facility turned into a hotel. Large rooms with modern bathrooms. In an upscale neighborhood. The staff was particular helpful with luggage and local knowledge.

We stayed here for one night to attend a concert. Personally, this isn’t a four star hotel for me. On arrival we were lucky enough to get parked in the drive, two spaces there and metered parking on the street outside. The front of the building looks unkempt and overgrown. No check in, all details for your room etc sent to you before hand. Very easy instructions to follow and there is a reception downstairs although we did not have cause to visit. Decor in shared spaces beautiful. Our room wasn’t as nice. Wallpaper pealing off walls, dust, wall plugs not completely secure. The room was dated and worn. Double doors in our room with were not secure, lock appeared to be from a flimsy bolt at the top of the door. If someone had given it a hard pull it would’ve easily opened, which is a safety issue. Bathroom was modern with good shower. Kettle and coffee machines with tea coffee etc available. Overall the room was clean and served our purpose to sleep in before leaving early the next morning. I don’t feel this is a four star hotel and the photos on their website/apps definitely do not match the room we stayed in.

It was a great room. The shower was awesome! So close to the Dart and Aviva Stadium.

My main concerns with the room were lighting--too dim, and the ice cold shower I had that was punctuated by brief blasts of scalding hot water. The room itself was lovely and quiet, and the bed was by far the most comfortable and inviting of all the places I stayed on this trip. The host was very friendly and helpful.

Butler Townhouse was well located for this part of Dublin with easy bus access into downtown. The entry procedure was complicated yet could have been easily accessible. The decor was quite dated in our room and unbalanced. It was a quirky, unique experience.

The only advantage of staying in this hotel is location. Other than that, worn out , dirty, unprepared for guests' arrival room with constant noise from outside located condenser units which literally doesn't allow you to sleep. Additionally, in our case (room 11) shower did not work (altering hot/cold water) and there was no shower gel. Shower issue was reported to the receptionist but was not fixed. If you have a chance to book another hotel, please do so.

It wasn’t clear that there are no humans at check in. The process wasn’t smooth.

The room was a cozy, clean, restful oasis. Being an older boutique property the rooms have quirks but are so lovely. The staff, particularly Luke is incredobly hospitable and friendly. As a solo travler it made the trip so much more fun and easy. My stay was 100% better because of his help. Also kudos to Wei (who despite shyness about his english, was a hero when i needed it.)

Clean room, small bedroom, bathroom, and sitting room is what you get. 15 minutes from Temp;e bar area, across the street from the arena. Food near by and a great spa Eden One with pools, hot tub, gym and massages for purchase. There was staff in the first floor lounge and he got us a cab and gave us his number if we needed anything. He was super helpful.

Check in process was a bit difficult due to unclear communication and a delay in the messages from staff to me through Expedia. The room was missing toilet paper upon my arrival, smelled musty like mold, and the ac was not working properly. I do not think the money you spend to stay here matches the value of the property.

Need a better system for check in. I was not sent any information and had to phone the property to get codes. They did answer but arriving late at night as a lone female i felt unsafe. it should be made clearer what the system is before you book. Building itself is nice and my room was nice if a little dated. I personally didn’t like the set up. No luggage storage or anyone on site in case of issues.

Very expensive for a self check in hotel, and the system was down and never received email and the phone numbers were not working.

Stayed for 3 nights, superb stay and fantastic location. Within spitting distance of the metro station and a few bus stops, so super easy to travel around. Few pubs, restaurants and shops close by. The staff were very accommodating and I’d be more than happy to stay here again in the future

Quiet neighborhood

Absolutely perfect place to stay. Well placed for the Aviva stadium and also within walking distance of the city.

It was the perfect location. Walkable to stores, restaurants, bus stops and tram. Safe area. Kind staff. When I go back to Dublin, I will stay at Butlers Townhouse again.

I loved the place, it was so different. I have stayed in Dublin 2 before and this time I found this place and enjoyed the place. People who work there were super friendly and helpfu. The area was great and very easy to walk to trinity college and city center without being right there. It was 3 min walk to the DART green line as well. The area is one of the wealthiest neighborhoods so it’s super safe as well.

This hotel is in a very convenient location, close to the Dart Station, Aviva Stadium, and the Marion Road, which has many bus lines running on it. Luke (staff member) was friendly and helpful.

There are no staff other than cleaning staff. The entire place is electronic. It’s actually really easy. The biggest thing is there aren’t many restaurants close by for breakfast. Dinner choices are a bit better but still a little bit of a walk. Be prepared to walk or take cabs if you stay here. The room was nice enough. The bed felt hard when I sat down, but once I laid down it wasn’t. All in all a nice experience for a place to crash and it wasn’t too far from my office. M

Stayed here for four nights on a wonderful trip to Dublin. Nice lobby and welcome room. Clean sheets, clean bathroom, comfortable bed. Clean, safe, quiet area of town. Grocery store and convenience market within 10 minute walk. 25 minute walk to downtown Dublin or 5 minute walk to local commuter rail. I usually walked, as the weather was wonderful for the entirety of my trip. Would recommend and would stay again.

We were in town for a game at Aviva stadium and couldn’t have picked a better location. Great to walk to quieter local pubs, coffee, restaurants (many great ones). Super easy to jump on train a short walk from location to places like Dalkey. Really easy to grab a taxi to head to Temple Bar or City Centre for shopping. Staff was super easy and prompt to communicate with and cleaning staff does a great job.

Loved the fact that you felt “at home”. Staff was very friendly. Very convenient Stay if you are going to an event at Aviva Stadium. There are lots of small eating spots, nearby, walking distance.

The parking is sparse in front of property ( 3 spaces). There is street parking available. We took taxis to hit downtown Dublin everyday. So easy and convenient. Easy walking distance to great breakfast options as well as Starbucks. Beautiful neighborhood. Enjoyed our stay. Rooms are older but it was perfect for us.
