What a beautiful little place. I had read about how difficult parking is in Sintra. We pulled up in front of the hotel where there were four spots sanctioned off. We were told it's OK to park there over night. The hotel was quaint, clean and the staff was beyond hospitable. This hotel is centrally located and you couldn't ask for a better place to stay.

The is a beautiful hotel. Historic, but with all the modern amenities a guest would need. The guest rooms are well appointed, and our room had a fantastic view of the forest. The staff is friendly and helpful. We had dinner here and it was delicious! Parking is available, which is a real plus in Sintra.

This was a great find, did not realize how close this was to the main shopping and attraction areas of Sintra. Staff was excellent, and helped us to park our car nearby. The hotel has character. Breakfast buffet excellent. It is a great spot but not well suited to cars during peak tourist hours. I had to drop my wife at the door to check in and was then forced to leave her to allow others by. Fortunately we managed and hotel staff were excellent to help us.

Everything about our one night stay in this romantic boutique hotel was beyond our imagination. Only wish it could have been longer. Of note, if driving you need to get a passcode/qr code from the hotel to actually enter the area to arrive at the hotel. Parking is extremely limit, though free IF you can find it on the tiny narrow streets. My understanding is that the hotel has a garage somewhere down the street but can only hold 6 cars and it's 20€ per night

Es un edificio viejo y sin estacionamiento y mal servicio de su personal de cafetería en especial una Srita de nombre Isis Micaelo bastante grosera, prepotente y racista. De la limpieza si está buena la verdad y la ubicación también. Como les comentaba están viejo el hotel que se oye todo por ejemplo lo que la habitación vecina hace desde murmullos de plática, la regadera cuando se baña el rechino de la cama, el aire acondicionado, el ruido de los pasillos cuando llega la gente y van rumbo a su cuarto (se oye como si estuvieran adentro de tu cuarto) Es una problema el estacionamiento ya el el hotel solo cuenta con 3 cajones de estacionamientos. La verdad no me volvería a quedar en ese hotel ni lo recomendaría ya se que es un lugar histórico por el tiempo pero con todo y eso califico como fatal mi estancia en el hotel

Loved the history of the hotel, the history is maintained yet was still modern. The bar area was really enjoyable after a long drive to get there. 3 hotel parking spaces available, we got lucky and got one. Would stay there again.

An absolute gem in Sintra. A beautiful hotel, our room was stunning with an enormous bathroom. The bed was divine and the room was quiet and spotless. There is parking available (see photo). Staff were very friendly and welcoming and are incredibly hospitable and proud of the hotel. Breakfast was fantastic and it is in a convenient location. I loved this hotel.

Wonderful staff, room was upgraded, very clean. had a balcony the view was great. Location was great not far from city center (walkable). Walkable to one of the main attractions as well. Breakfast very nice. All of my needs were met.

We stayed here for one night in a last minute booking for Sintra. The room and breakfast cost about £120. The hotel is traditional, but in very good way. It is very central and full of character. Within walking distance to many of the attractions. The whole place is spotless, characterful and the staff were welcoming and helpful. Frankly, we had booked and expected something worn and run down and we're really happily surprised. We would return again and recommend to others. Reception - smooth and straightforward. Staff helped with ad hoc queries during our stay. Room - clean and spotless. Effective air con. Huge four poster bed! There was a fridge and coffee maker. The bed was firm (good) with good pillows. There was also a pillow menu. The room was quiet. The shutters and curtains blocked light well. We had an excellent night sleep. Bathroom - again, spotless. Plenty of powerful hot water in the shower. There was a bidet. Miniature shampoo, conditioner, body wash and body lotion. Breakfast - this was truly epic. Fantastic selection with really ripe and tasty fruit skewers, a good cooked selection, a good array of cheeses and meats. We would genuinely pay to do this as a buffet in its own right. Other - we were able to leave our bags at the hotel once we had checked out. Parking is a pain (this is not the fault of the hotel). Summary: we had a lovely and relaxing stay, with an excellent night sleep. We recommend this place.

This is NOT a 5-star hotel. Expedia is misrepresenting this hotel and overcharging what it should be. It’s barely a 3-star. Mosquitoes as big as your thumb. Mold on bathroom. Furniture and bedding like it’s from someone’s grandparents house. And the smell too. Bathroom sink is cracked. Lighting didn’t work. Gross. Couldn’t get out of there fast enough.

A very old, very beautiful property with wonderful staff and a fabulous breakfast. However, the bathroom in our room was tragic - really in need of updating and bringing up to standard. The hotel rates itself as 5* but the bathroom is barely 2*

The property is incredible and the location can't be beat. Rooms were clean and filled with charm. This was our second stay. The change we noticed was the hotel desk staff sat all day and were not helpful at all. They actually watched us struggling with our bags and never moved or offered assistance. Upon check-in the same thing happened, we had to ask if they could help us with our bags.

Obviously a historic hotel that has been there for 200+ yrs, but the facilities were dated. The bathroom needs an update - grout missing/chipped sanitary wear. However was kept very clean and staff were very lovely and helpful. Also strange drain smell from my bathroom. Overall a nice stay but wouldn’t go back there again.

Overall it was a joy to stay in this beautiful old hotel. The public areas of the hotel are lovely and there are various attractive corners to relax in. The staff were all lovely and very attentive and helpful. The breakfasts were absolutely excellent. We booked a superior room, but unfortunately the bathroom in particular was run-down and in need of refurbishment. For example, there was a large crack in the basin and black marks in the bath. We had a balcony terrace overlooking the garden and this was a lovely space, but there were only upright chairs and no table - although there was plenty of room for a table, and even sun loungers. The bedroom itself was nicely decorated, but small and quite dark. The mattresses on the beds were very bouncy so not so comfortable. It was a very expensive stay and we expected more for the price. The food in the restaurant was excellent, although again extremely expensive, even for Sintra.

Everything was absolutely wonderful. Such a charming place. Location is very convenient and quiet. Would love to stay there again one day. I was in the tea room which is a ice the main desk. It was lovely but there is a bit of noise early from the desk if someone is looking to sleep in. I had an early start so it was fine for me.

Older hotel with character. Away from the chaos and bustle of the tourist square but just a three minute walk into the heart of town. Nice breakfast included with the room. Friendly and helpful staff. Easy walking access to Quinta da Regaleira which is definitely worth seeing. We would stay here again!

An absolute gem in Sintra. A beautiful hotel, our room was stunning with an enormous bathroom. The bed was divine and the room was quiet and spotless. There is parking available (see photo). Staff were very friendly and welcoming and are incredibly hospitable and proud of the hotel. Breakfast was fantastic and it is in a convenient location. I loved this hotel.

Wonder old hotel right in the city center. It is the oldest working hotel on the Iberian Peninsula. Lord Byron would often stay there. Has been nicely renovated keeping the best of the old intact. Short on electrical outlets is the only drawback. There are enough however to get by. Internet conection is great English is spoken by all and all the staff was super friendly and helpful

We had a wonderful stay at the Lawrence. The bed was the most comfortable out of all our stays so far in Portugal. From our check in to breakfast it was perfect. The young lady at breakfast was a delight and had many great suggestions.

Overall it was a joy to stay in this beautiful old hotel. The public areas of the hotel are lovely and there are various attractive corners to relax in. The staff were all lovely and very attentive and helpful. The breakfasts were absolutely excellent. We booked a superior room, but unfortunately the bathroom in particular was run-down and in need of refurbishment. For example, there was a large crack in the basin and black marks in the bath. We had a balcony terrace overlooking the garden and this was a lovely space, but there were only upright chairs and no table - although there was plenty of room for a table, and even sun loungers. The bedroom itself was nicely decorated, but small and quite dark. The mattresses on the beds were very bouncy so not so comfortable. It was a very expensive stay and we expected more for the price. The food in the restaurant was excellent, although again extremely expensive, even for Sintra.

The property is incredible and the location can't be beat. Rooms were clean and filled with charm. This was our second stay. The change we noticed was the hotel desk staff sat all day and were not helpful at all. They actually watched us struggling with our bags and never moved or offered assistance. Upon check-in the same thing happened, we had to ask if they could help us with our bags.

What a beautiful little place. I had read about how difficult parking is in Sintra. We pulled up in front of the hotel where there were four spots sanctioned off. We were told it's OK to park there over night. The hotel was quaint, clean and the staff was beyond hospitable. This hotel is centrally located and you couldn't ask for a better place to stay.

We stayed here for one night in a last minute booking for Sintra. The room and breakfast cost about £120. The hotel is traditional, but in very good way. It is very central and full of character. Within walking distance to many of the attractions. The whole place is spotless, characterful and the staff were welcoming and helpful. Frankly, we had booked and expected something worn and run down and we're really happily surprised. We would return again and recommend to others. Reception - smooth and straightforward. Staff helped with ad hoc queries during our stay. Room - clean and spotless. Effective air con. Huge four poster bed! There was a fridge and coffee maker. The bed was firm (good) with good pillows. There was also a pillow menu. The room was quiet. The shutters and curtains blocked light well. We had an excellent night sleep. Bathroom - again, spotless. Plenty of powerful hot water in the shower. There was a bidet. Miniature shampoo, conditioner, body wash and body lotion. Breakfast - this was truly epic. Fantastic selection with really ripe and tasty fruit skewers, a good cooked selection, a good array of cheeses and meats. We would genuinely pay to do this as a buffet in its own right. Other - we were able to leave our bags at the hotel once we had checked out. Parking is a pain (this is not the fault of the hotel). Summary: we had a lovely and relaxing stay, with an excellent night sleep. We recommend this place.
