The Publisher, Downtown Fredericksburg, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel

This is the second time we have stayed here overnight. The check in process is difficult. Thr staff is not very personable or friendly. You cant park in the parking lot unless you use valet. Im aorry but i dont care to have a young kid try and drive my 6 speed manual porsche and run it up on the concrete curb. The bar deinks are unbalanced and rhe bartenders are very subdued. The cocktails on the menu use cheap liquor. I honestly expected a lot more from a place charging almost $400 a night.

Reservation said valet parking, but it was self parking, no where on their website does it say self parking. Couldn't get room cool for some reason. The balcony had no furniture and was just a look over, no where did it say you couldn't sit and enjoy the balcony, the pictures online show balcony furniture. Not to mention there is no privacy if you did stand on the balcony the next room over is right there, had I known this I wouldn't have bothered getting a balcony room, especially since the curtains didn’t block out the light from the balcony door. The property is over rated likely cause it is new, but I specifically picked it since it was rated a 9+, definitely more a 7 or 8.

Gorgeous decor, but several service and building issues need attention The hotel is beautifully decorated and provides a mostly quiet stay, but there are areas that need improvement. Check-in was long, as the new staff were still learning, and it took a couple of tries to get a working key. The fire alarm in my room went off a couple of times. They mentioned this had been happening in some rooms but offered to move me if it persisted. One inconvenience was the lack of a proper place to store toiletries in the shower. Placing everything on the floor is not ideal. The most frustrating part of my stay was attempting to use the gym on my last day. After calling downstairs to find out where it was, I discovered it was on the second floor, but I wasn't informed I had to go through a connection to another building. After scanning the code on the door to fill out a waiver, I discovered the door was locked and my key didn't work. I tried calling the front desk for help but no one answered. To make matters worse, I couldn’t get back into the main building, had to exit and walk around to re-enter from the other side. The front desk explained it’s a design flaw, but they could have provided instructions. They offered to make a special key but I had run out of time. I hope they address these issues because, with a bit more attention to detail, this could be a fantastic stay.

Was thrilled with this Hotel. Absolutely beautiful. Staff was great. Hotel bar in the steakhouse was amazing. Bartender who was newer to bartending was friendly, engaging and made some mean martinis. Would definitely go back!

It is simply a gorgeous hotel. Every detail with the design was carefully thought out. The millwork, the fixtures and the ambience all are perfectly married to enhance the guest's experience. The linens are superb, thick and luxurious. The mattresses are delightful. The only I would say could be improved upon...the toilet paper really has room for improvement.

Absolute stunning hotel in a renovated historic building. Beautiful all around. Didn’t get to dine at restaurant will be coming back for a longer stay next time!

I was surprised at how luxurious this hotel is. The rainfall shower head was just outstanding and the rooms have all of this custom wood craftsmanship. I was sort of expecting it to be a renovated courtyard by marriot just named something different and priced higher. But it’s very very nice. Unique in a way. Definitely the nicest hotel in Fredericksburg.

This hotel is aesthetically beautiful but i believe there are some operation kinks that need to be worked out. The front desk was a bit hectic…my reservation and my friends had two different check out times and hers addressed breakfast as being included where mines didnt. We waited for breakfast for almost an hour just to be seated only to see there was not a packed or even half full dining room. But overall the hotel is gorgeous, the details are great and once the operations are fixed it will be 5 stars.

Wonderful hotel staff very friendly

The hotel was very nice. Staff all very welcoming and friendly. Stayed on our wedding night and the hotel had a complimentary bottle of champagne waiting for us upon arrival. Very thoughtful.

We were there to celebrate our anniversary. The hotel is beautiful! The attention to detail with the decor is unbelievable. The restaurant was delicious and the customer service from every employee we encountered was OUTSTANDING!!
