Hotel Belleclaire Central Park, a Small Luxury Hotel

The Belleclaire Hotel was quite lovely for our two-day Memorial Day weekend stay. The room was quite spacious (by Manhattan standards, anyway) and the location on the UWS is close to the subway, many great restaurants and Central Park. The hotel was clean and well maintained despite its age and the staff were personable and helpful. Price was reasonable for the UWS, Notable plusses included a good fitness center and vouchers for the very good bakery attached to the hotel. Would definitely stay there again.

Was OK. Shower was a little tired. Fitness Center is small and the only pelaton was out of service. Bar service was meh Gave me a stupid plastic cup to take wine to my room

Took almost 2 hours to get car from Valet. It valets fault, front desk didn’t request the car until 40 minutes after we gave them ticket and then waited another 40 minutes.

We enjoyed our stay in this heritage hotel tremendaously. The rooms were spacious and clean and staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast voucher for one of the best French cafes in town was a delicious treat every day! The only problem our group of 4 had with this hotel was that there is no lobby. I am not exgerating, there is absotuley NO common space with tables and chairs that you can sit and enjoy the evening with your group. The only sitting area on the ground floor belongs to the restaurant/bar on the premise.

A mixed bag. Some staff helpful; others, not so much. Bathrooms need at least one shelf on which to place items. Elevators are extremely small. One of two was out of order. A microwave, a coffeemaker, and a clock radio should be standard in EVERY room. One of the NOISIEST hotels we’ve ever stayed in. We were here for 3 days — wound up in 3 different rooms. Staff was accommodating in facilitating our moves.

Clean, well decorated, free wine bar with excellent appetizers, nice cafe right next door, right in the heart of the upper West Side, just a few blocks from Central Park

Nice boutique hotel in the UWS….close to lots of restaruants and bars….the staff is friendly….the hotel includes free breakfast at the adjacent bakery….rooms are small but clean and comfortable…..there is a decent sized fitness room with ample workout equipment.

Good location. Room was nice but bathroom was tiny. Elevators were quite small. Breakfast next door was good but limited. Would probably stay there again based upon price.

Wine hour did not have non alcoholic drinks as many places do. Water in shower took over 5 minutes to heat up Water and wine for guests was nice touch

Wonderful stay at the hotel BelleClaire. They have us a wonderful room in the 1st for. Very quiet and spacious enough for two. Great French bakery in house with good almond croissant and great pesto sandwich with mozzarella. Nice staff and kept our bags on the last day. Check out at noon was convenient. The fitness center was good.

Bathroom was so dirty. There was mold on the ground and I found hair on towels. Front desk staff was rude and unhelpful. The daily facility fee is a ridiculous because they say it covers the fitness center and etc but they don’t even tell you that there is one. I only found out after I specifically asked what the facility fee per day covers. I think there are many other nyc hotels that are way better and cheaper. There’s no reason to pick this one over other hotels. The elevator was broken half the time

There was absolutely no cell phone reception in my room. I could not look at my emails or receive or make phone calls on my cell. I tried to use the lobby for business calls, however the noise level was too high. Also, I was charged an additional $50 per day for taxes and fees,but Expedia showed that all fees was included in the original price. I continously found hair that did not belong to me throughout the room.

We enjoyed our stay. My only complaint was our block lock didn't work on room 531 & during one night I found 4 bugs in the bathroom sink!

The Hotel Belleclaire is in a lovely, quiet area of NYC. The staff is Excellent- friendly, professional, and attentive. We love the boulangerie downstairs- where guests receive a $10 voucher. The voucher can also be used at the Allure restaurant/bar. This is one of the Very Few places that charges a "resort fee" that tells guests what they receive for the fee, but offers guests practical value for it. In spite of the bathroom needing a real deep clean (grout and caulk mold), the rooms are clean and the housekeeping staff are very pleasant. Overall, the hotel has the same basic "eco-friendly" features as many others- it would have been great to have a separate bin for recycling in the room. We love the Belleclaire and will certainly be back!

Room was spotless and service was excellent at the door as well as front desk

This hotel is beautifully renovated, and I loved the staff and check-in! I had two rooms both were clean and accessible. However, one of the rooms had a bathroom shower that was disgusting. The tiles in the shower had mildew on them and had a smell of mildew. That was just one of the rooms. The other room was perfect. Both bathroom and the bedroom. I did let the front desk staff know once I checked out. I was only there for one night it was a late late check-in in an early checkout, so couldn’t really address the mildew problem while I was there other than that everything else was perfect with this hotel .

This was the second visit to Hotel Belleclaire. The service is good and the room size is snug but about what can be expected in New York. Beds are comfortable and there were plenty of clean towels. Only issue was that the bathroom was freezing cold and there was some mold in the shower.

Staff was welcoming and friendly. Beautiful building. Room was clean except for a moldy shower. Bed was comfortable. Pipes are very loud when someone is running water in nearby rooms and when people are in the hallway it’s quite noisy in the room.

Large (very large for NYC), tastefully updated rooms. Great bathrooms. Helpful staff. and above-average hotel gym. Best option in the area.

Heating system needs to be serviced. So noisy that we couldn’t sleep. We finally just turned it off.

The hotel is very old building that’s been renovated. The elevators are tiny a.k.a. 200 years ago. My room was small and clean and the bed was comfortable, but it had absolutely zero none zilch amenities. There is no coffee pot. There was no countertop cabinet or any place in the bathroom to put stuff so I ended up putting my make up on the clothes toilet seat so I could use the mirror over the pedestal sink. Breakfast was included, which was coupons for the adjacent French Café, which was adorable and just great if you want to eat sugar French pastries, but for more healthier fair there was nothing available. It was expensive. It was over $2100 for three nights. I travel a lot and stay in New York City. I thought I would try this hotel because I like the location, but I prefer a hotel that has amenities. This one had none at all. There was not even a bureau in the room if you want a bed in the TV it’s great. It did have this amazing shower that shot water from the ceiling the walls and also on a long flexible tube that was fun. The whole floor is tile and when it’s wet, it’s also kind of bumpy. It’s not really flat. The main thing I didn’t like was there was no place to put on make up and there was no coffee, pot or bottles of water that are usually given to hotels of this class in the room. They really need to upgrade a bit and put some kind of a unit in the bathroom as well as in the bedroom that has amenities.

Doorman to welcome you. Room was very clean. Classic feel. Room small but that was expected for a big city hotel. For the 2 of us, we were fine. No refrigerator or microwave. Bathroom shower plenty big and good water pressure. Old hotel kept us very nicely. We felt safe walking around neighborhood. Breakfast is a $10 coupon for coffee shop/pastry next door. Coupon covered most of cost of a coffee and pastry. They had cinnamon rolls, small sandwiches, apple tart, etc. Within walking distance of Central Park, National History Museum, bus route and plenty of places to eat. We would stay there again.

Stay here was good. Some loud pipes in our room obstructed sleep quite a bit, I would take earplugs. Pipes made sound anyone on the floor used water. We were in a deluxe room. The $10 bakery breakfast is pretty poor considering that doesn’t cover the cost of one plain croissant and a coffee. Decent location if you need to be UWS and comfortable bed. Shower bad.

Nice hotel, great location, wonderful staff. Unfortunately, a lack of soundproofing mostly caused by the flimsy (hollow) doors made our stay less enjoyable. We heard every conversation in the hallway and every sound (TV, every word spoken) coming from the room connected to ours. The two doors connecting the rooms did nothing to prevent that from happening and caused a complete loss of privacy. Such a shame. Otherwise, it’s a nice hotel.

No carpets on floors As a result loud footsteps that disturbed sleep. Very small room (deluxe roon) not allowing for coffee or much drawer space

Service and staff were fantastic. Unfortunately the walls are very thin. You can hear word from neighbors in the next room.

Rooms are really tiny.

This is a great hotel to stay at. The beds are comfortable, the front desk and cleaning service are both very friendly. The one complaint I have is that the rooms are very noisy. You cannot really hear anything from the room next door, but the opening and closing of doors and any noise in the hallway is REALLY LOUD. Fun stay though all in all.

The hotel is nice and the neighborhood is fantastic. The French bakery was excellent. However, the front desk was abysmal. We checked in at 3:00 and were told to wait in the lobby for a few minutes while the clerk checked to see if the rooms were ready. 40 minutes later we returned to the desk to find that she had forgotten about us. We called two days before and were promised rooms across the hall from each other. That request was completely forgotten. I realize mistakes happen but the front desk was unapologetic and couldn't have cared less. There was no toilet paper in the lobby restroom and the maids did not replenish the toilet paper in our room. We were unimpressed to say the least.

Always love staying here. The rooms are spacious and nicely appointed. We love the vouchers for the bakery downstairs. The staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful. Shout out to Edward at the front door who is always kind and lovely to chat with.

Wonderful stay. Benedict really cares about his guests. Looking forward to returning soon.

Do not stay here. If you want to stay on the UWS, stay at Hotel Beacon, just one block down. I paid for a suite at Hotel Belleclaire because I have a baby and lots of baby gear (pumping, milk, need to clean bottles, etc.). I paid a lot of money only to check in and not have working AC or a working fridge. The staff accommodated, but this was not ideal. The phone in the room did not work, so I had to use my cell phone to contact the front desk. There was no sheets or blankets in the room and it took one hour to receive them after calling to request. On check out day I called with 15min notice to ask for help bringing my bags downstairs and no one came. For many reasons — if you are traveling with little ones — look elsewhere.

Staff took excellent care of us

The General Manager was just amazing - the entire staff so friendly and helpful! Amazing location, French bakery the bomb and the breakfast tickets they give you along with drink coupons so good! Loved our stay and will be returning!

We checked in late-9pm. Turned out they supposedly gave us the “last”room whose AC was out of commission as was their phone. It had been 100 degrees and humid in NYC and we were supposed to be OK with this $350 room? I had to call Expedia to get the hotel front desk number, call from my cell phone to COMPLAIN! They brought a tiny fan to place on a chair at the end of the bed.. WOW- what service! They finally changed our room and gave us $100 off- it should have been 1 free night as we were booked for 4 nights. That AC has not be working for awhile. Front desk mentioned they’d send an engineer up to look at it the next day but none ever came. First thing the maid said to us the next morning was “Are you changing rooms?” They already knew we’d be moving out before we even talked to the front desk in the morning!! Management could have given us a suite or even have said something up front and perhaps moved us to a sister hotel! Even spend money for larger fans.

I really like this hotel. The location on the Upper West Side was perfect for our stay. It's a beautiful, charming building, w recently refurbished rooms, that are rather spacious for NYC affordable accommodations. Most importantly the staff is great; professional, welcoming and helpful. We would definitely stay here again.

My husband and I stayed here for a week. It became our favourite area to stay in Manhattan, it is away from the noise and yet easy access on foot or the subway. There are lots of eateries in the area, the Lincoln centre and central park only a couple of blocks away. The hotel is in a beautiful building and our room was very clean and spacious. Benedict, Guest Relations Ambassador is great! We will definitely go back!

Property was centrally located between 2 subway stations, made getting around town easy! Rooms were quaint with lots of character. Staff were friendly and helpful. Very much enjoyed our stay for a family of 5.

The location of the hotel was perfect for our stay. The staff were all so friendly, especially Maria at the reception desk. The rooms were very clean and neat upon arrival. The elevator is a bit small, so I would be mindful of that if you have little ones and strollers, but besides that we loved our stay and cannot wait to go back and stay at the Belleclaire!

This is a superb hotel, clean rooms fantastic friendly staff, the French bakery next door is superb for breakfast coffee and pastries. the hotel is situated close to subway so trips downtown are easily accessible, at $2.90 per journey the city is totally accessible.. The hotel is close to central park for morning walks, we had a great stay here and would recommend the Belleclaire to anybody visiting this great city..

Small rooms but clean and well appointed. AC was awesome. Allure (their bar) was really good and the bakery was terrific. The neighborhood was quiet. Hotel is covienently located between 2 subway stations.

Outrageous resort fee. Misleading info on breakfast (basically a coupon for a bakery - limited non-carb and higher protein options). Misleading wine tastings (only 2 nights/week and no choice of wine). Incredibly noisy from other guest through the door into the corridor and other rooms - gaps around all 4 edges of the door. Other guests having loud and lengthy conversations in their rooms and the corridor at 12:30 and 1:00 in the morning. I won’t stay here again.

Nice hotel on the 77th and Broadway. The subway stop to Manhattan is on the 79th. (400m) The Room wasn’t too big for 4 but we got 2 king size beds very comfortable and the shower was very good and big. Breakfast is included (10$ voucher for each person and day) in the bakery connected to the hotel. Overall it was a nice stay with my family (2 kids around 11/12 y)

We spent 7 nights at Hotel Belleclaire. Hotel was as described. We were in a "Kingsize Broadway view" room which was a good size, well furnished & kept clean throughout our trip by the housekeeping team. The team at the front desk was excellent & were always very polite and attentive from just a simple good morning to dealing with any requests/questions we had. The team at the front door were also great helping us get a taxi & storing our luggage on our last day. They were very polite & professional every time we interacted with them. Bakery attached was great with lovely fresh pasteries & coffee. Location was ideal with alot of great restaurants within walking distance, central park only a 10 minute walk & subway only 2 blocks away.

I loved staying in this neighborhood! The bakery next door, where we were given vouchers for breakfast, was excellent—great coffee and I loved my pain au chocolat. The bar in the lobby was beautiful, relaxing, and had quality offerings. My room was small but clean and well lit. My only problem was that my shower kept pooling so that I was taking a shower in standing water. I asked the front desk to see if they could fix the drain while I was out for the day, but when I got back it still was pooling. I think maybe the shower floor wasn’t designed properly for drainage. Anyway, that was kind of icky. I ended up having to wash my feet in the sink after showering, and wanting to avoid taking showers. I was extremely tired after traveling, when I made my initial call about it to the front desk, and the woman I spoke to was a bit snide with me because I initially got my room number wrong, even though she knew which room I was calling from. I might stay here again, but I’m not sure…

Really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Bellaclaire! Being on the upper west side was perfect for our drive in from Toronto. We found the hotel easy enough and were greeted by hotel staff in the lobby. Our room was ready and very clean and inviting. There were lots of dining options close by and hotel staff were great with recommendations. It was nice to be able to walk to the Museum of Natural History as well as Central Park. The subway was a short walk up to 79th st. and made our adventures down town quick and easy. We enjoyed the daily breakfast vouchers which made our morning meal free. I would have liked some non sweet breakfast options but what was available was always fresh and tasty. We will definitely be back for a stay here for our next NYC trip!
