Hotel Moca NYC

Hotel in disrepair. Our first room had no a/c,broken fixtures in bathroom, no hangers, thin walls with loud neighbors. We got a new room which was better, but overall the hotel is janky. No coffee in rooms or lobby, no microwave in room, no sink stopper, room key stopped working halfway through stay...

This place should not be listed on hotels.com. A/C DOESN'T WORK. windows don't close. There are roaches everywhere and on top of this, this "hotel" rents rooms by the hour. Bodily fluid stains were visible on the sheets.

The folk working at the front desk were great. The place itself requires upgrade. The room didn’t have an iron, iron board, clothes hangers, and the shower door required repair. The rooms are paper thin - you can hear your neighbors talk. Ice machine worked when it wanted too. Trust I did want out 1st night but outside of paying at least $230 a night some where else . We elected to stay. We put flowers in the room to make the rooms.

The hotel is okay for the price, but the facilities are poorly managed. I had to switch rooms because the door lock battery died in the first one. The second room had a balcony door that wouldn’t close and a broken thermostat. They offered to move me again, but I stayed to avoid hauling my luggage around. Both room refrigerators froze my food and had broken controls. There’s only one communal microwave in the lobby. No filtered water is available—you have to go across the street to the supermarket for drinking water. Maintenance is lacking: one bathroom light was out in both rooms, handles were loose, and the sink was so small it was difficult to wash your face without hitting the faucet or splashing water everywhere. No clothing handlers like hangers or hooks were provided, which made organizing things difficult. The building had a strong marijuana smell throughout, and there was spit on the elevator floor—poor cleanliness and upkeep overall. Positives: A metro station is just a couple of blocks away, and there’s a parking garage directly across the street.

It’s an hourly motel not a hotel with no hot water

The floors in the room were quite dirty. There was no air conditioning so we had to move rooms. The WiFi was extremely spotty and was not consistent

The front desk staff was friendly, but the room facilities were poor. There were no hangers to hang clothes, no door guard, no hair dryer, no coffee maker, the bathroom door wouldn't close, and the lock on the balcony door was broken, so I was very worried about security. There was no room cleaning during my stay. The subway station was close and the bus stop was in front of the hotel, so it was convenient. There was a fire station next door, but the noise wasn't a problem.

Good location in washington heights, near the highway…24hr parking garage right out front across the street

The hotel wasn’t at all what was advertised on hotels.com or Expedia. The pictures on the websites had a nice view and the bedrooms looked comfortable. That wasn’t at all what we saw when we arrived. The elevator is broken and smells really bad. The tv and appliances don’t work. The plugs on the wall are coming off. The room had questionable stains all over the walls and there is a circuit breaker in the room that guests can access which is dangerous. I laid in the bed for an hour and I got itchy bites all over my legs. The hotel staff was very rude when we arrived. They forced us to pay cash when they have a clear sign that says they take card. We were aware of the fee to check in early but they never made it clear that it was cash only. They forced me to use the atm which gave me an extra service charge. This hotel shouldn’t be open as a place to stay. We ended up leaving after a few hours. We could not stay there the whole time we booked. It’s was that horrible.

The hotel was very nice, but no parking, it cost me $47, to park my vehicle

Bed bug bites all over me the next day. In the morning as soon as the sun rose there were these bugs flying all over the room. I have no idea what they were but they kept landing on me and it was gross. I showered and left as soon as I could.

It smelled. There was hair on the bed. The ceiling was leaking. I have no idea how and why this place is open.

It was so dirty, the pictures from google look NOTHING like how the room actually looks… water was leaking & i found a bedbug in the bed… they switched our rooms but i was just not comfortable at all so i asked for ah refund & received it, but they are wrong & false advertising at best… i would not recommend this place to ah dog

Brown stains on the sheets like someone had just stepped on them. The receptionist moved us right away, but the bathroom was in need of some good cleaning products...

Pictures are misleading as they only show the “cleanest” parts of the hotel. The hallways reeked of weed, bed sheets and pillowing coverings were stained, and there were many flies in the shower. Also, my door to my room wouldn’t lock, so without even using the card key, the hotel room was easily accessible to anyone until I brought it up to the workers’ attention. Although they were able to fix the issue, the hotel needs many upgrades in order to receive better reviews.

Very dirty and unclean room with marked dirty words and sprays on the wall. Bathroom’s also dirty and filthy. Uninhabitable.

The shower handle was broken I had to use my hand and turn the nut that on holds the handle together to turn the shower on, at least 2 times a day I had to go get my key card reset. The air conditioner wasn’t working properly. Was a bad bed. The view was beautiful from the balcony and that is the reason it’s not getting rated terrible

The photos are when the hotel was new. It no longer looks like that. It's not dirty, but it's definitely rundown. The doors are also super thin so good luck sleeping (especially when other people's love of the ice machine). Between that, slamming doors, lack of security (since the swing lock was broken), no heating in 40 degree weather, and apparent hourly rates (nothing against the sex worker industry- just prefer to stay away from the clientele), and rundown accommodations, I am happy to have left the hotel. Would not stay again.

It was noisy

Had to get room cards activated daily. Poor lighting in bathroom. Lighted mirror broken. Could hear noise from adjacent room. TV kept me up in middle of night. Adjoins room door poorly sealed. You can hear everything!

Clean room. High floor with nice views. If you are a light sleeper, bring earplugs since noise from neighboring rooms is audible.

I like the cleanliness. I disliked out closely you hear somebody next door. My neighbours were really loud and played music late till 3 am and I didn’t get much sleep, other than that this hotel is pretty convenient, clean and safe enough for anyone visiting Newyork or that area specifically.

Elevator is not in a good condition. My door has signs of being broken. Smells like smoke. Noisy because it's beside the fire station. Would not recommended.

You get what you pay for, I read the other reviews warning about the conditions but I took a gamble. The biggest issue is the lack of any sorry of sound deadening, and the hourly guests who have no incentive to be quiet. At midnight I had to call and ask for someone to come do someone able the loud music, they made an attempt but the nose didn't actually stop until the hour was up. The other nights also had noise issues. Basically don't stay here if sleeping is important to you.

I will never make a reservation at this hotel again, I kindly go to reception to ask if I could check out later to which the person at the reception answered me until 12pm it is free after that time you will have to pay a fee. Perfect everything understood at 12:15 someone from his staff knocked on the door without waiting for him to answer he opened the door of the room something very embarrassing because my partner and I were changing. If I ask if I have to pay something at the time of late check out, why not wait for me to go to your reception and charge because I had already taken that into account, when I check out the very rude boy answered me that they were tired of calling the room, something that did not happen because the phone in the room did not have bone tone it did not work I had checked it but that early in the morning I went down to reception, in a very edge way the boy answered me they had to leave at the That I came back and answered him if I asked if he had to pay it was because I was going to do it not so that no one would invade my privacy in this way opening a door me literally getting dressed. To which he didn't even apologize immediately and of course I paid the late check out fee.

It was a terrible stay! The staff was extremely rude. They gave away my reservation, told me there no accommodations, and then gave a walk-in an hourly rate room, while I stood there in the lobby communicating with hotels.com customer service. They only gave me a room because proof of my call, and my notifying hotels.com. The room was not clean when I entered it. I took pictures, but my phone was stolen while I was sleeping! Don’t chance it!

Good property for what I needed. I was in Manhattan for one night. Staff was friendly. Room was clean.

The lady at the front was very nice and helpful!

All the staff was excellent, except for a girl who was at the reception desk during the morning shift. She is a person who does not know how to serve customers, but there was a boy at night who was very kind and helped me with my stay.

The worst Hotel experience I’ve ever had. The room we checked into was dirty and several features of the room were broken (deadbolt, toilet flush, toilet paper holder, etc). Walls were paper thin and you can hear your neighbours every sound. Staff were unaccommodating and unhelpful.

I didn't like the racist man at the desk that refused to acknowledge me and refuse to warm up my food simply because I was black and the thing about it is he's not even from this country himself so make it make sense

Not much the area is dark at night but if you walk to Broadway about 5 to 10 minutes you’ll get lucky.

Middle of everything

The hotel itself was decent enough. No frills and a good price. It is located on a street that was noisy at times during the night. The people in the adjoining room were very noisy. There is little to dampen the sound between rooms. There was very little furniture in the room - only a bed and table. The bed was fairly comfortable. The building smelled of pot most of the time. There was a very nice coffee shop 2 doors down from the hotel and a really nice Mexican restaurant 2 doors in the other direction. There is a bus line in front of the hotel and the subway is a few blocks away.

Convenient location and transportation.

This hotel was great for my husband and I to do a quick visit to NYC. Close to two different subway stops and relatively quiet. The room smelled a little smoky but luckily the windows could be opened for fresh air. Next time we will upgrade on a slightly nicer spot

We felt unsafe staying here. Rooms are available by the hour, staff ignored issues in the lobby. It is also next door to NY fire department, so sirens all night at all hours.

Doesn't have parking, Smell weed all around, you can listen to the people in the room next to you, one of the room were having a party, the outside of the property doesn't look good and it feel unsafe there.

My stay was perfect for my short trip, 6 min walk to the subway and 20 mins away from the city. I would leave early and come home Late so just slept and showered. The area is a bit rough so I would just be aware of your surroundings when waking to the subway but I’m from SFO so if you know you know

Its basically a drug house. The AC doesn't work, needles on the ground, mirrors broke and on ground, floor is shattered and uneven. Outside window wont shut, druggies and fiends outside the hotel. It doesn't match the description nor pictures or anything that shows online. Do not go near that hotel in middle of Harlem.

Being that NYC decriminalized weed some guest thought that it's ok to smoke in a non-smoking establishment. Which in turn made me have to request a different room because of the 2nd hand smoke seeping into my room. BUT THEIR BREAKFAST IS AMAZING!!!!!
