Palms Resort & Cafe on the Beach

2nd time staying at this property, we love how close it is to the beach. The cafe was good and the heated pool was a plus.

The Palm is a quiet, cozy option for SPI. They protect the security and the guest space and also have a wonderful restaurant overlooking the beach. There are very few restaurants right on the beach at South Padre, so The Palm is a great combo of quiet stay, great food, and beach access.

The hotel is exactly what I expected, an older auto court. Not a lot of parking, but I did see an extra lot across the street for overflow. I had a small kitchen that included two coffee cups and a Keurig coffee pot. I brought my own pot and cups so I didn’t use it. There was a full-size refrigerator, which was nice. Also a microwave. I didn’t use the microwave, but I’m sure if you wanted to buy some food to keep in the freezer or fridge you could have your own meals. I was traveling with my small dog so I had limited access to restaurants around town. I ended up eating breakfast and early dinner at the café on the beach, which is attached to this hotel. All my meals were outstanding! Monday through Friday they have happy hour which is a heck of a deal. There’s a path all the way down to the beach and they rent beach, chairs and umbrellas for the day. There’s an outdoor shower when you come back up and you’re all sandy to clean up with. The small pool is heated and lots of comfortable chairs around it. Yes, I wish I had a room with a balcony overlooking the ocean, but for the price I was very happy with where I stayed and I would recommend this hotel. The general manager, Kathleen is very nice and helpful.
