Hotel Selfoss

Staff was very welcoming. Enjoyed our access to the spa, with hot tub, steam room and sauna. Excellent location. Excellent breakfast.

The room was nice and the restaurant was very good. The elevator was out and had to use a small one i. The back but it worked.

Good view of river, good location, easy parking in lot, fast food restaurants around the corner, food court close by. Busy hotel, spa was ok - indoor n small- not to Icelandic standards.

The hot tub is only open a very limited amount of hours during the day (10:00 am-8:00 pm). Quite disappointing that we couldn’t use these facilities at all after a long day of driving and then an early departure…

Good hotel for walking around town in Selfoss. Rooms are decent but you can hear noise from the street if you are facing that way. They have a spa (sauna and hot tub) but you have to walk through the lobby, the restaurant entrances to get there. They also close at 20:00. Breakfast was ok. Nothing fancy. There is a walking trail behind the hotel with great view of a church and the suspension bridge.

Spacious and clean room. Very nice spa which was great to relax in after a long day of travel. Restaurant and breakfast were great. Nice view of the river and free parking.

Spa was not staffed it was just a hot tub and stream room.

Lobby var dásalegt, hreinlegt og huggulegt. Við komum inn í þetta pínulitla herbergi þar sem var varla pláss til að taka upp úr töskum. þurftum að fá að skipta um herbergi þar sem það var miglusveppur í sturtunni sem var mjög ósmekklegt. Í hinu herberginu sem var á sömu hæð, jafn lítið og virkielga illa viðhaldið. mikið ryk í herberginu sem og brotið úr innréttingum á baðhergbergi og fl. Fórum á veitingastaðin hann var algjörlega frábær og góður matur.

There were a number of things about the room design that were not well thought out. The soap dispensers were terrible and did not work The blinds did not effectively block light The sink was too short to fill a water bottle or wash your face The shower was tiny, even though there was unused space in the bathroom The window for airflow is small and hard to open. The door opens, but blows shut in the wind. The room got stuffy due to lack of airflow. There was construction with made the parking lot hard to reach and no signage indicating which way to go The mugs in the room for coffee were not well cleaned The hot water smelled like sulfur

Overall great place to stay. Only stayed one night so cannot remark about the area too much. Rooms were clean, property a bit older but still nice

We loved the food options all within walking distance. This hotel is in a great spot, clean, great staff, and comfortable. I will be staying at Hotel Selfoss everytime I come to Iceland. The breakfast has everything you need to get off on the right foot. Close to the golden circle and southern sights. This is the place for me.

Room was clean. Ate breakfast in town and dinner. Across the street from hotel is food hall with excellent lunch options. Walkable to breakfast spots and dinner. Beautiful town. Close to Lava Tunnel and great stopping point on ring road. Only two hours to Vik

We really wanted to love this place but it didn’t live up to expectations unfortunately. The location, town, and view from the room were lovely. The lobby was very nice but our room was very run down and wifi was nonexistent in our room. The shower leaked and was quite mouldy. Overall this place is clean and decent enough but I would not return.

It was clean nice property. The Tv was the smallest i have ever seen with no smart tv. Internet was not working the entire time we stayed at the property. The front desk was not very present. waited at the loby for a bit, when i called frint desk they did not answer for several calls. Spa was nice and the front desk staff was very pleasent. The chicken sandwiches was great at the restaurant.

Great location in town on the river. Spacious room and good shower pressure but very small sink and shower glass didn't extend to floor so bathroom floor got wet. Bathroom tile was not heated. Great choice at breakfast although scrambled eggs looked rubbery. Great dinner choices across the street at Old Dairy Food Hall, best tacos ever!

The room was too hot and not dark enough (poor blackout curtains).

The room we stayed in was very dated. In much need of a remodel. Check in was easy but glad we were only staying for one night on our way back to Reykjavik.

Was bit noisy in the room, heard the guests in the hallway and the doors closing. Room was bit old. Breakfast was good!

Vi bodde to netter på Hotel Selfoss i juli – et overraskende stort hotell til å være i en såpass liten by! Rommet vårt hadde utsikt mot elven. Beliggenheten kunne ikke vært bedre: rett ved det den lille byen har å by på – noen restauranter, foodtrucks, et apotek, et stort supermarked, Skyrland, kirken og et par puber. Førsteinntrykket var veldig bra, takket være en imøtekommende, blid og hjelpsom resepsjonist under innsjekk. Litt morsomt (og klønete): En time senere låste to annen gjest seg inn på rommet vårt – tydelig nøkler som hadde blitt forvekslet i resepsjonen! Etter det sluttet våre egne nøkler å virke, så vi måtte få dem oppdatert – litt kluss, men det ordnet seg. Selve rommet bar preg av å være litt eldre og litt varmt, men det var komfortabelt og sengen var god. Frokosten var inkludert i prisen og hadde alt vi forventet – klassisk europeisk hotellfrokost med godt utvalg. Gratis parkering utenfor hotellet var et stort pluss. Som Hotels.com VIP-medlemmer var vi lovet noen fordeler på hotellets spa for begge dagene, men dette hadde de ansatte aldri hørt om, så det fikk vi ikke. Litt skuffende. Alt i alt ville vi absolutt bodd her igjen. Hvis du skal innom Selfoss, er dette stedet å bo. Hotellet er et flott utgangspunkt for å oppleve Sør-Island, og fungerer veldig bra for et par netter. Anbefales for par, de som reiser alene eller alle som skal utforske området!

Amazing we got upgraded to a premium room. Receptionist was ultra helpful and lovely. Breakfast for a wheat free person was great too and choices which is rare. We will be back.

We made this reservation the day of our stay. When we arrived at the hotel, there was no one at the desk. We had to call the number provided and waited 15 minutes for someone to show up. This is a large hotel, so that was surprising. Unfortunately, we arrived right at 9pm (hoping for a bite to eat) and there are no restaurants open in the area, including the one at the hotel. (This is common in Iceland, so it was entirely our fault.) The room was very dated. This was easily my least favorite stay of our trip. I would not stay here again.

Conveniently located in Selfoss. On check in receptionist was very friendly. When asked, she told us how to sign for complementary parking. She mentioned we could go and have a look at the spa and if we wanted to go could comeback and pay. Then I mentioned I thought one trip to the spa was included in our stay. She checked and gave us our robe and towel. Room was a reasonable size with bath/shower, toilet and sink including soap/shower gel. Lovely view of river and bridge into Selfoss. In room - Kettle with cups including tea and coffee. Fridge, safe and Tv. Spa was very relaxing, hot water bath area with relaxing lights, cold water bath, steam room sauna and places to relax. Would have been a pleasure to have more time there to relax. Breakfast good selection, hot and cold food, breads, toaster. Drinks- juices, tea coffee, water, milk. Good layout so even though it was busy it did not appear to be too crowded Very pleasant stay, would certainly recommend.

Stayed at the hotel twice. Very good hotel -value for money. Prompt attention. Mr. S. Berjatfur was very helpful (hope I have got the spelling right for his name).

This is a beautiful property, just along the bank of a river. The rooms were clean and nice. My only complaint is that they did not initially honor the VIP benefit of a free breakfast. I had to show the Expedia email saying that breakfast was included in the room rate. Then, the staff agreed. However, later the front desk staff said that they knew Expedia was offering this benefit, but it was a mistake. I thought, why give me a hard time about this, when you know Expedia has this benefit on their website. That said, I would stay at this property again. It was in the middle of town, all restaurants were within walking distance, the breakfast buffet was good, and the rooms were clean.

There's still some construction going on, but the new portion of the building where the guest rooms are is very modern and well-maintained. The old dairy food hall across the street has great food options as well. Great area to stay in!

Nice, clean, modern hotel. It is located a few steps from a new shopping and dining area which was very lively in the early evening. Also close to a footpath for a stroll along the river. Easy access to the Golden Circle and for travel to the South Coast. We used it as a stop on our way North and it worked out well.

The location was perfect after a day of driving the Golden Circle. Fabulous breakfast!

Breakfast buffet was terrific!

Nice, clean hotel. Staff is polite. They have a restaurant on premises and have happy hour. The breakfast buffet is included and I must say pretty excellent. So many offerings!! The dining and lobby area are very modern and nicely decorated. However the rooms or at least the one I was in are very dated. And the curtains did not keep the midnight sun out. They are large and the bathrooms are huge. Best shower in Iceland!! Just be careful of the hot water! It’s boiling hot. You couldn’t ask for a better location. It’s literally a one minute walk from the food hall, shopping etc. The town church is right behind the hotel on a riverwalk. With the location’s proximity to attractions and the airport its a nice hotel and a pretty good value. It was very quiet as well.

close to restaurants and shopping, cool little town. Breakfast was the worst we had in Iceland, dinner was good. very walkable with good parking. Rooms were good sized also recommend the spa

This was my favorite hotel that we stayed in on out Icelnad ring road trip. So good that we started and finished here. The check in was great. The Hotel staff were polite and accommodating. The breakfast is killer here. The buffet alone for breakfast is worth staying. The rooms were clean and quiet. You are downtown Selfoss, so many food and drink option within walking distance. Ill be staying here again for certain.

Best breakfast ever! Rooms were spacious and very comfortable. Spa was excellent with hot and cold plunge, steam and sauna. Dinner was excellent too.
