The location is excellent. The subway is 2 blocks away. We were 20 blocks from Columbia University, which was our reason for this trip. Lincoln Center is 2 subway stops away. All tourist attractions are easily reached by this subway line. They gave us water bottles. This hotel is by far the cheapest place to stay on the upper west side. The hotel is very old. The bronze rooms are not renovated and are very basic. We asked for a refrigerator and never got one, so we had to throw a lot of food away. There was no dresser. The doors were ancient. The bathroom was better, but there was some rust in the bathtub. The hallways appeared to have relatively new carpet, paint, and lighting. We were charged a resort fee at the property, but this hotel is no resort.

It was nice to stay in a different part of the city. The hotel was nothing fancy but great for touring the city. Less than a block from the subway, very helpful, friendly staff, small fitness room, close to Central Park made it easy to explore a different part of the park, and easy loading and unloading parking spot. They also work with a parkling lot a.block and a half away that give a discounted price. The elevator was small but worked. It was also easy to leave the city and head home from.there.

Elevators really slow & out of date & small. Room was generally clean & the free water was nice. The bathroom was, very odd. The shower was the worst designed shower I've ever seen. The shower head only went up to my chest height. The hose connected to the shower head leaked in a way where the hot water leaked out, so only the cold water made it through the shower head. The shower curtain did not cover the whole shower area. The curtain was just getting soaked by the shower water. The floor wasn't separated from the rest of the bathroom. Like this could have literally just been a normal shower with a tub. I feel like that would have been easier.

The property was in a good location and the bed was comfortable. The hotel itself is super dated. No business center (empty room), no fitness center (empty room). Has an odd smell in the hallways. With all that said, I choose because it was lowest price option. You get what you pay for. So if you are looking for a nice bed in a good location at a good price, this is the hotel. Anything else, look elsewhere.

Hotel was good overall. Great location and friendly staff. Beware the parking garage they send you to though! They knowingly scammed me and charged .e more than double the price it said to park. When I saw it on the receipt after they charged my card they refused to refund it. Currently disputing the charge with my credit card company. This hotel is a good hotel, but do not park in the lot they are aligned with. They knew I was staying at the hotel and still way overcharged me on purpose hoping I wouldn't notice. Shady people. Beware.

Fleas in Room and Springtail Bugs In The Upgraded room. I checked into the Night hotel. Upon check in I was give the key to my room. I noticed some debris on the sheets of the bed but thought nothing of it. A few hours later I kept feeling like something was on my body. When I scratched my head there was a taupe color debris. After that showered this kept happening, I kept feeling things on me. At that point I checked the bed and sheets throughly and found evidence of flea eggs. I took some pictures attached. Once I found these I went to the front desk, informed the agent, and was given a new room. In the upgraded room in the “Pent house” floor I also experienced more discomfort. On the 2nd night I noticed that small thin black bugs were coming out of the sheet. I had my room serviced and I don’t even think they changed the sheets. Even worse they were coming out of the mattress. At first they looked like black dust but would eventually come out slowly from the threads. This was highly inconvenient and caused unnecessary stress. I won’t be staying here again. Also the rugs are really dirty. Wore my flip flops but still felt dirty being in the space. It’s hard to see the bugs in the pictures because they were tiny but they were everywhere.

This was the worst experience I ever had at a hotel. On 8/11 I had itchy bites all over my body. I asked the nurses in the hospital where my husband was staying, and at least two of them were sure these were bed bug bites. I requested another room for my last night. When I got up at 5:30 am to brush my teeth, there was a large cockroach on my toothbrush. I then checked out.

The location is excellent, very close to the subway and restaurants and shops on the upper west side. Close to Central Park and Riverside park. The hotel itself is meh. It’s quite old and not very clean. The room was below average, with wallpaper peeling off and the mattress almost falling off the bedspring. The bathroom itself was nice but we had no soap and only one towel upon arrival. Overall, if location and a decent price is what you want and you will really only sleep in the room, this is fine. If you want a really nice place and room to spend some time in, probably not for you.

The room was in very poor condition. The bed and bath seemed clean, but the carpets looked like they were very old and dirty… did not seem like a place that would warrant a $450 nightly rate even on a busy weekend.

I just needed a comfortable bed and warm place to recover after flying in from Australia. It met my needs well, and the location was fantastic. In minutes I could get to theatres and other NYC sights without paying higher prices. Close to the subway, with good dining options, groceries and drugstore very close by. The area is comparatively quiet so I got plenty of uninterrupted sleep. I chose a Gold room, these are on a higher floor, facing Broadway rather than 94th St. they are meant to have been recently renovated but I don’t think mine was. Otherwise I think they’re the same as Silver and Bronze rooms. There was a large TV on the wall, a tiny desk, coffee maker and a small fridge too. The room was small, and not renovated to the same level shown in the photos online but it was a good choice for me.

The room is barely furnished (good luck finding much space to store your belongings). The property is a little run-down; however, it's clean. Provided that you use this hotel ONLY for sleeping, I guess it's passable.

It's fine, actually. Not sure why there are so many negative reviews of this place. We had no issues whatsoever. Never felt "unsafe" or anything remotely like it. Check In They were nice and friendly and the process took less than five minutes. Room Completely clean when we checked in. Beds were comfortable. Climate control was working fine. TV had plenty of channels. No fridge or microwave, but it did have a coffee maker with two coffee pods. Bathroom Everything worked and was clean. Hot water was hot. I appreciate having a tub instead of just a shower when traveling with kids. Location Great. Next to a subway stop right on Broadway. Convenient to Central Park. They don't do parking so nothing to say about that. Overall I'm not sure what people's expectations are when they book this place that leads them to write such negative reviews. It's the cheapest option in the area by far. Everything about it was totally fine. It's not a luxury resort nor claims to be. There's plenty to do in Manhattan outside of your hotel room so I'm not sure why that's an issue. There's so little affordable accomodation in the area that I'm glad this place exists. Will probably stay there again if we visit upper Manhattan.

The bathroom was the smallest I’ve ever seen in a hotel and there were no counters. The bathroom had hot water once out of 3 showers. The rooms are very dated and didn’t have any USB plugs available. The location and friendly staff were really the only things they had going for them.

We stayed in a ‘gold’ room that had been renovated. There was new carpet, tv had lots of channels, and it quiet inside the hotel. There was some street noise even though we were on the 9th floor. The air conditioning was fine! It was a block from Amsterdam Street and a few blocks from Central Park.

"Bare bones" is how we'd describe the hotel room — it had basic necessities but nothing more (with the exception of a free toothbrush and toothpaste). The toilet tank did not have a proper seal so it continually ran and refilled, making noise. The AC unit is old, loud, and has a musty smell. The pillows are extremely flat. However, it's definitely the most affordable hotel in UWS, so if you're looking for a good deal on a no-frills hotel room, this one should work.

Expedia should be ashamed of even listing this property. What is not shown in the "bronze" level photos is the paint and wallpaper peeling, the fixtures in the bathrooms dripping and rusting (both sink and shower), the dirt and crumbs under the bed, the soft spots in the floor that felt like you would fall through, the unusable/unworking TV, and the level of wear and tear on the furniture (paint rubbed off, etc.). The staff people in the lobby were rude and made me feel like I was bothering them with a question. The Night Hotel website notes that bronze rooms are "perfect for families." Had I been traveling with my family, I would 100% have found a different place to stay. I stayed only because there was no way to get a refund. Unfortunately, there was nothing in Expedia's descriptions of bronze/silver/gold rooms that told what the difference was. Apparently the other rooms have been renovated? I'm not sure that would've mattered to me as the building and elevator itself was sketchy and did not feel safe or up to code. The stairwells weren't even marked as "stairs," just signs that say a floor number and a letter. That feels extremely unsafe. The only positives about this hotel are the walking distance to a subway station and Central Park and the fact that they will store your luggage for you before you've checked in. That is it. There is nothing else positive to say about this place. Do not book it!

WARNING: DO NOT LEAVE YOUR BAGS WITH THEM BEFORE/AFTER CHECKING IN/OUT. I left my suitcase and tote bag with them for a total of 8 hours after I checked out and when I got them back, the tote bag was completely smashed and COVERED in dust and drywall debris. The suitcase was filthy as well. I asked what happened and the man replied “it’s just a little dust”. But it was not “a little dust”. It looked like they mopped the rooms with it. I should have taken a photo but I immediately starting cleaning it in the bathroom. Also, it was clearly OPENED. I tucked in the zippers and placed them in a certain way so I would know if it was tampered with and it was. The debris was INSIDE my fully zipped bag, which is another clue it was opened. Gross… I would have considered staying here again if it wasn’t for that but now It’s off my list.

This is the most inhospitable hotel I've ever stayed in, and I have stayed in a lot of hotels. The staff is not welcoming, they hardly talk to you, and don't bother to look up from their phones as you come and go. In four days, only once did a staff member Sat hello to us and that was a housekeeper in the hallway. Not once did the lobby staff, which were 3-4 at any given time in a small area, help with doors, greet us, or even make eye contact. The place is very run down. Old carpet, cracked sinks, inconsistent hot water for showers and the a/c unit rattled constantly making sleeping difficult. Housekeeping NEVER came by. We don't need our sheets changed every day, but having our garbage dumped and maybe new towels every couple of days would be nice. No "thank you" for staying with us on our way out, just "Keys? That is all". We will not be back. 0/10 do not recommend.

We absolutely loved our stay at the Night Hotel. It’s the perfect budget hotel in the Upper West Side, and the staff are incredibly nice. (Not to mention the music that plays in the lobby is great!). It’s located at the perfect spot if you’re trying to get around NYC since it’s incredibly close to the Red Line train (96th). There are tons of comments on this hotel due to it being outdated, but are you really coming to NYC to hang out in the hotel all day? The beds are clean, housekeeping comes daily, the staff is so nice (and one of them apparently makes some great cheesecake I’d love to try one day 😉), and it’s conveniently located! If we come back, we are definitely staying here again!

Best cost and benefits. There are 2 parking lot nearby. Luggage room very well organized, we need more time in NYC after checkout and our luggages were very well cared. There is a subway next block, some restaurants near and next to the Hotel 1 pharmacy. I liked and I’ll come back.

We enjoyed our stay in New York and we will definitely stay at this hotel again. The price was right. The room was comfortable. The only thing I would add is would be nice to have a dresser because we need to use our suitcases for other items and the room was a bit dated, but the beds were comfortable and the room was very clean. It is in a great location. Right across the street is a real good place called 94 Corner Café serve the best burgers I’ve eaten perfect place for grabbing a breakfast another place just around the corner is the Manhattan Café it is a perfect place near the subway station where you can get to anywhere in New York. Very friendly and helpful staff

Hotel staff were very nice and helpful. Very generous in accommodating a lactating mother with freezer storage. The crib was from 1970 but was clean and worked well. The curtains didn’t close so lots of light very early in the morning and the shower water temperature was variable. However room was decently clean, very spacious and extremely convenient with cafe 15 feet from the front door and close to subway station. Highly recommend

Excellent ! If you are looking for a low budget hotel near everything in Manhattan this is the place. With subway station as soon as you step out the hotel, a pharmacy and an extraordinary 94 Corner Cafe. Everything you need to sleep and spend the whole day out.

Tiny, shabby, overpriced room with no breakfast. In fact they did not have a restaurant at all. I was given a granola bar as the only food offered! I paid over $250/night. Yuk!!!

This is an old, basic hotel in Manhattan. We've stayed there several times and have always been pleased. Definitely not luxury but walking distance to some great restaurants, coffee shop across the street, reasonably priced, secure parking nearby. Room cleaned every day! Staff responsive to maintenance issues like malfunctioning toilet.
