It's a really convenient place to stay with a ferry service to Mackinac Island literally right across the street. There's also a few restaurants and a really good ice cream place within walking distance. Parking lot is too small, so if they are close to capacity you may have to get creative.

Nice basic property for the price. Breakfast was adequate - nothing special. Pool water was a good temperature. Hot tub water was a good temperature - but the jets were "lame"; barely any force coming out of the jets. Location was very convenient. Water flow in shower was excellent. Walls were thin - could hear fellow guests and dogs barking.

The water in the pool was cloudy.

Great place to stay if your going over to the island. Great pool and hot tub. Nice balconies to sit out in the morning and evenings.

Fantastic room. Easy walk to shops and restaurants. Very close to ferries. Very clean. Jetted tub was great. The only downsides we had were a window left open prior to check in with a screen not attached properly and that we happened to arrive after an issue closed the pool and hot tub indefinitely. The hallway didn't seem to be very temperature controlled either and seemed to be warmer than even the outside temp.

great stay. Pool was down for repairs but they partnered with a neighboring hotel to be able to use their pool. Quiet, clean close to downtown and the ferries. Would for sure stay here again.

Great experience and if we go back to St Ignace, we will be staying at the Budget Host Inn. Staff was friendly, hotel was clean, beds were comfortable, pool was nice, proximity to Sheplers was great, and overall loved the stay.

It was fine. Couldn’t check in until 4pm which seemed pretty late. Game room had no air conditioning and felt like a literal sauna. Cobwebs on the staircase, just overall not impressed. The pool was nice, also had continental breakfast which was good.

Friendly staff. Broken hair dryer, broken wall sockets, broken ice machine on second floor, broken water fountain and air conditioner in fitness room. Arcade / vending machines that eat quarters and will leave you with a screaming child.

Ideally located if visiting St. Ignace area. Pet friendly which was why we booked but beware of high pet fees - could’ve rented the room for additional night in what we paid to have our two dogs stay with us. Our room was not clean on arrival but it was after 6:00 pm and aware nothing would be changed by contacting the front desk as they were fully booked and housekeeping was not available. Wrappers on the floor, chips under the luggage rack in the closet, & empty Coke can behind a dresser. A message was sent to the manager via Expedia but I never received a response. Additionally, they do not turn over your room “due to COVID” unless you call before 10 am and request it. As a traveling healthcare worker, this just doesn’t happen anymore. On our 2nd day a housekeeper entered our room after knocking twice but w/o announcing themselves. We weren’t able to get to the door before he just walked in. He apologized then left. As I made my way towards the door to lock it, I heard him say “they haven’t left the room yet”. Curious as to what was going on, I went to the hall to ask why the comment was made because we had booked a 3 night stay and had only stayed 2. Apparently we were supposed to be told at check in that our room was adjoining and someone else had “requested” that room. We were able to “keep” the room after they contacted the other party. I read many other great reviews however, my family’s experience was less than ideal.

The king suite was just what we needed for a night away. The jetted tub was perfect.

We rented the 2 bedroom suite and it was bigger than I expected and fit 6 people perfectly. I will stay here again.

Didn't realize when we booked it that this would be the closest hotel to the ferries! Loved the location, staff were so sweet, and for the price, it's a perfect stay! My only complaints were that the room was a bit musty and the TV barely had channels that worked. But if you could care less about both of those things, then it's a 10/10!

The jacuzzi tub in the bedroom was amazing! The jets worked great and it was an awesome experience following a long day of traveling and hiking the dunes.

Place was clean and easy to find. Our room's air conditioning was very noisy and the bed wasnt the most comfortable. Good si,e bathroom, but small shower.

We stayed there during a quick day trip to Mackinac Island. Check-in was quick. The room was updated, clean, and spacious with a small deck and big bathroom. I loved that the pillows were nice and firm. Would stay again.

The facility can definitely need some sound improvement. We can hear our next door’s phone conversation.

Hotel is conveniently located and staff was very friendly. Check in and out was very simple and quick. Rooms were a bit outdated and could used some freshening but were relatively clean. For the price point, it was fine. There were only a couple negatives. One being it is very near the road so traffic is heard in the room. Beds are comfortable but pillows were maybe the hardest thing I've used (and I generally like stiff beds and pillows). Lastly, guests were seemingly running up and down the halls and being very loud until about 1130 at night. Luckily we expected as much being a holiday weekend. Its a good hotel but we will probably explore other options in the area and use it as a backup plan.

My only true complaint was during check out. My husband and I decided to leave half a day early. I went into the office to give them a heads up and ask about them checking the room as part of the pet policy. Which neither the person I checked in with or this person really knew what to do. I went back to the room, packed and checked back in with the front desk. There was a different woman there and no sign of the one I told I was leaving early. No big. I said “hi, I’m here to check out.” The woman’s demeanor immediately changed and she said, “well I’m going to have to charge you extra.” I said, “oh bc of the dog? I already was charged…” the woman cut me off rather rudely. Loudly and firmly said “NO. For the extra day. Check out is at 11.” She kept speaking over me when I tried to tell her that yes, it’s true but that I’m leaving early. She didn’t believe me even with my reservation on my phone. And mentioned again in a very passive aggressive tone, “11!” She was obviously wrong and became very polite once she realized. The damage was done for me. She didn’t know how to refund me the extra day (honestly I didn’t care. I just wanted to leave) so I told her if you want to waive the pet fee, we can call it square. Welp, a week later and no refund. I wish she had a name tag bc the woman I checked in with when I arrived was very friendly. But check out was a disappointment. This woman’s attitude was very inappropriate and I hope they are embarrassed.

We have stayed here before and everything is always great. The room is always clean with everything we need. Staff is very attentive if you need anything.

Staff was excellent and friendly, we had some trouble with our key cards and the desk attendant was super patient and helpful in getting us into our room. We had a wondeful view of the water. We will be saving this location for future visits.

Horrible, rude staff!!! Bedding was nasty!!! Burn holes in my grandmas bed spread! Paid for five people then had to pay extra for a bed for fifth person to sleep!!! Never again!!!!!!

I can’t say enough good things about Budget Host Inn! The location of the property is convenient to the Mackinac ferries, if you’re interested in that. But the best things about the property are the people and the quality of service. We spoke with 6 or more staff about basic ‘area’ questions and they were all friendly and made helpful suggestions, on topics ranging from food to local activities. And the BEST thing about this stay is the CLEANLINESS. I don’t know if they have recently remodeled - but the rooms have a very crisp, very clean presentation. They smell good. The office smells clean! If you choose places to stay based on reviews - you can’t go wrong here. We traveled 900 miles and this was such a pleasant landing spot. We hated to leave the comfort and fun vacay vibe. Highly recommend!

The hotel was nice and clean and loved that it was within walking distance to the docks to board a boat to Mackinac Island!

Nice quiet hotel right across the street from Shepler’s Ferry and walking distance to several dining options. The hotel was clean and staff helpful and friendly. It seemed like the AC in the halls was out and there were a few small maintenance issues noticeable, but overall a great choice for a short stay.

Right across the street from the ferry harbor. Absolutely perfect jumping off point to explore Mackinac Island. Clean, comfortable, and good breakfast.

I thought Budget Host Inn was about average for a hotel in this price range. The room was clean but slightly musty. The air conditioner had problems keeping the room at a comfortable temp but caught up by the second night. Booking through Budget Hosts website was a bad experience. We were given a price then after we gave our payment we were sent to another site and charged an additional $ 114 and no refund. Please save the headaches and book through Expedia or similar site. The best thing about this hotel was that we walked to the ferry that took us to Mak island. Good breakfast too.

Decent place for the price. Good base for adventures in the area, but nothing nearby except ferry dock. Not much to the breakfast...but they do have waffles.

The property is dated but has updated restrooms. Reasonably priced - breakfast options were bagels, bagels, waffles, muffins, oatmeal and cereal during our stay. Easy walk to shepplers ferry There is an Arnold ferry option available further down (we did not use but wanted to share all options) B.C. Pizza very close and very budget friendly for our family of 4 Be sure to leave used towels outside of your room so they will provide fresh towels. Overall, worth a try if you are looking for a budget place to stay! Kids loved the indoor pool!

The hotel in general it’s ok(for the price), BUT, they didn’t change the used towels and sheets, the “free” breakfast was really poor , we need to go out for breakfast better …we don’t will back there

Room was huge and looked recently updated. The beds were comfortable. Breakfast is quite limited but the nice room made up for that!
