Good basic motel in the heart of Lake Tahoe area. Room is a little rough, but it is clean and there is lots of parking plus great staff. Also, you have discounts for beach entry if you stay here so it saves you a ton of money.

Big Pines is under new management from the last time we stayed there. The WIFI (Television reception) was very bad and inconsistant, the Pool was being renovated, hair dryer was broken, the safe was inoperable. The smoke detector was "metal strapped " to the wall ! It as a very bad experience, I would rate them 0/10 points.

Great location less than one block from the Heavenly gondola and reasonably clean rooms with no strange smell. Overall, this hotel is a great option for the lower cost hotels in South Tahoe that are frequently terrible. The blinds need maintenance as they do not close properly. Need better instructions on how to use cable TV. Front desk could not figure it out, but the cleaning staff helped me.

Good location. Tv would not work most of trip. Not sure if it was satelight or what was wrong but it was direct tv and we simply wanted to check out sports updates and sleep better with tv but could not do that. If you arrive after dark be ready for absolutely no parking. Room was not very clean. Like i said great location near town and entertainment but room was not worth the price we paid.

The lodge was not clean enough and the room accessories and electrical appliances were obsolete. The swiming pool was out of order and very dirty. The area of the Tahoe lake is beautiful and the private beach close to the lodge very convenient, clean and safe. One plus for this lodge is the possibility to get a voucher to have a low price fee for this private beach.

The location of the property and parking are the best. It’s very safe and walking distance to the beach, casino, Heavenly Gondolas, shopping, restaurants. However, the walls in rooms are very thin. I could hear the full conversation of next door neighbors until 3am and then their phone convo at 7am. Bring ear plugs and you’ll be golden. Other than that the place is great. It was a pool and the beach voucher let you access private clean beach for free.

Despicably dirty, and unsafe. Shower didn’t work, no outlets to plug in devices(medical devices), floors had holes, walls were dirty, headboards had a thick layer of dust and grime on them.

Booked for 3 nights, we basically just looked at property, everything was dirty, missing tiles on the floors, mold in the showers poop in the toilets just horrible. We turned around gave the keys back and told the person in charge that we where not staying there, and we explained why. Contracted Hotels.com and explained all this, they told me they would work with the property to get me a refund. So far no refund and no updates. Had to pay another $2100 to stay at a different hotel.

This property is pretty bare bones. Nothing new or fancy. The pool was being worked on (July) but the beach is down the street - for. $30 entrance fee per person. The hotel offers $5 vouchers so that was a perk. Our room was pretty dirty - candy and dust in the corners, some underpants next to the bed, and a vape pen on the windowsill. The beds were clearly used and could use a mattress pad to liven it up. There was no trash can or kleenex and you had only 1 outlet for the fridge, microwave, coffee maker so the fridge was unplugged when we got there. There is no continental breakfast or any kind of coffee/hot water amenities. Walking distance to beach, Heavenly shopping area, and right on the Cal/Nevada border so you could walk across the street to the casinos if that's your thing. I guess it's great if you just need a place to sleep and cheap but def not clean and could use an upgrade.

The floors were not swept, I picked up dirt & debris on my feet when I walked in the room barefoot. The nightstand’s drawer handle was missing. The bathroom had a bunch of chipped paint & debris around the sink’s floor that should have easily been cleaned. The window had no screen so when we left the window open for air at night mosquitoes came in & we all were basically eaten alive.

We stayed in a standard king room. The room was did not look like the photos on Expedia. The bathroom was dirty - hair on the sink and counter top and toothpaste on the countertop. There was one standing lamp and 2 bedside lamps and only one bedside lamp worked. The bed was extremely uncomfortable - felt the springs all night. The pillows were flat. Our neighbor was extremely loud - was knocking on the door and yelling at 2-3am. The only plus was the location, only 1 block from heavenly village.

Disappointed the room wasn’t well cleaned. Found pieces of candy wrapping on the floor by the bed, a used contact lens on the bathroom floor, the floors are coming apart, molding, iron board without cover, the sink leaked water all lever the floor. I told them to get it fixed which they did but when I got back from skiing all day, they took all my bath towels, I had to go to the FD and ask for towels so I could shower which they came late. Just not a great place to stay even for the price.

ASK TO SEE THE ROOM BEFORE PAYING!! room 269 that we had booked for Saturday July 1st to Monday, July 3rd. We checked and got our room, upon walking in the room smelled foul, intolerable, it doesn't look like the room was even cleaned. The bathroom was filthy with hair in the tub, toilet was dirty and room very dusty. We could not stay under those conditions. We immediately went back to the front counter and asked for our money back for the room, they front desk said we needed to email the request for a refund, not one person would step up to correct the issue just said send the email, went back the next day and still noone to help with our request

Beds were hard as rocks. Felt like I was sleeping on the floor. The pillows were miniature and lumpy. My kids and I had to use the sheets and wrap them under our necks to try to make pillows out of them. Bad neck pain every morning. Also the ac was a loud unit that hung by the ceiling near my bed. So loud it kept us up at night and was too hot outside to turn it off.

It is very old.. really needs to be updated. There was a hole in our wall in the room. The carpets are very old and the showers bathroom is very old. It's okay if you're just sleeping there, but you really don't want to hang out in the rooms. Love the shuttle to the beach but it's not just for their hotel. It's for Many on that street so we will stay somewhere else next time. The pool is clean but the walls of the pool are very dirty. We had a king size bed with a queen size headboard. No telephone in the room. No air conditioning, only an in-wall unit and it takes forever for the room to cool off. We were satisfied with our stay. The staff is very nice, but if you're looking for a fancy room, this is not it.

The room was spacious, that added to the sense of openness. However, the bed left much to be desired; the mattress was old and lacked comfort, making restful sleep a challenge. The thin walls allowed every sound from the neighboring rooms to seep through, turning the space into a cacophony of voices and footsteps at all hours. The television, while equipped with a full cable package, produced a thin, tinny sound that detracted from any enjoyment of its programming. Additionally, the room could benefit from improved lighting; it only had two small lamps that barely illuminated half of the space, casting shadows that seemed to linger in the corners. Overall, the room had potential but fell short in several key areas.

The bathroom floor had water because of the leaking shower and there was missing tiles on the ceiling of the shower. The ceiling in the room damage and the bed was so hard to sleep on. The floors in the room were missing pieces and the lights kept flickering when on. When my husband and I were trying to sleep in people were stomping above us.

This was one of the worst hotel rooms I have ever experienced. Complaints 1) handle had fallen off of the shower valve; 2) shower wall tiles were falling off the wall; 3) mold on the ceiling where there was roof leak; 4) adjacent unit was separated by a hollow core door that sounded like the baby next door was in our room; 5) the smoke detector was attached to the ceiling with a plastic strap; 6) standing water once you got the shower on; 7) overall the room was unsanitary and disgusting. Bed bugs were not identified but the risk is real. Take a look at the photos for the first had evidence.

We recently stayed here in Tahoe during snowy weather and had a very disappointing experience. We booked two rooms—one was fine, but the other had a major issue: the heater was not working. We immediately reported this problem at check-in around 6 PM, expecting a prompt resolution given the freezing temperatures. However, despite multiple follow-ups, nothing was done. By 11 PM—after a long and exhausting day outdoors—we were still left without heat. At 11:30 PM, completely frustrated and unable to stay in such conditions, we had no choice but to leave and find another place to stay. The lack of urgency and customer care in addressing such a critical issue was unacceptable. A functional heater in winter is a basic necessity, and the hotel’s failure to fix or offer an alternative solution ruined our experience. We expected better service and responsiveness, and unfortunately, this stay did not meet even the most basic hospitality standards.

Arrived for check in and was welcomed not very warmly by a man who seemed to be in charge. Did not speak to me or my boyfriend hardly at all, and proceeded to leave for about 5 min with us alone in lobby. We walked into our room to find shoe prints on our sheets, crumbs on the floor, and the shower was covered in rust. Immediately alerted the man who checked us in that we would like to check out, and we left for a different hotel. Unfortunately we could not get a refund. After letting him know about the conditions of our room, he seemed to not really care at all, didn’t try and make it right, and we went on our way. I would strongly advise not to stay here!!

Upon check in, there was no one at the front desk. (5pm) And then we were assigned to a room that was not made up. Returned to front desk to get another. The whole time being reassigned the new room the clerk kept saying please do not give us a bad review. The second room, the lights kept flickering off/on. The hot and cold water was inconsistent in the shower. Overall I would not recommend not even for the room rate. The previous responses on here from the staff state they are trying to fix the issues....I cannot see where any improvements have been made.

We wish we got his name! The 22 year old guy at the front desk (just started a few months ago) was so friendly and had great hospitality! The room had a couple minor things but nothing we couldn’t deal with for the night. Overall it was a nice stay and would come back for the sole purpose of the staff and convenience of location.

Room was very clean and spacious. The staff was friendly and helpful. Short walk to shopping, dining and casinos. I was able to park my motorcycle directly in front of my room, huge plus. Just be aware, they are very strict about the 4pm check in time. Not a minute early.

Somehow after I booked this place, my dates I wanted were not what was reserved. This place has 0 cancellations/refunds or reschedule options available. I tried to get them to refund or change my dates but they are very un responsive to both my calls and to Expedia agents calls and emails. They finally agreed to make an exception to rescheduling but then by the time they responded my dates a wanted were already full. Expedia has been no help either and lack in response as well.

We loved our stay at Big Pines Mountain House. Our Check in was easy and room we got was impeccably clean and comfortable. Front desk staff was friendly throughout our stay. Room had a microwave, coffee maker and other handy amenities needed for our stay. Location was great you can walk everywhere.

Big pines is perfectly located for exploring Tahoe city . It's withing walking distance of many attraction, restaurant and shops. The free Wi-Fi was fast and reliable. We really had a great time staying at this place.

Quick one night stay. Room was clean and comfortable. Bathroom needed updating, but overall it was a standard hotel room. Great location for being central to beach, shopping and the concert venue. Staff was so friendly and helpful.

Run down, nobody at the desk for check in (6:30 p.m.) Electrical socket by the sink didn’t work—so no hair dryer. No breakfast or coffee in the lounge as advertised. Pool was closed on memorial weekend! —more false advertising…. WAY OVERPRICED for what we got. Very disappointing. If there’s a definition for Ghetto Hotel, this is it. PS: I’ve never given a bad review IN MY LIFE!!!
