FOUND Hotel Carlton, Nob Hill

Rooms and general cleanliness were not great. The elevators were also down for time every day. Had to take stairs to 6th floor multiple times.

I love the place! The staff were really friendly and accommodating, the rooms were clean and modern, and it was pretty quiet! My only problem was parking but it is SF and we knew it was going to be difficult. However, they did have a parking garage not too far and were cheap. Plenty of food and drinks near by as well! Definitely would come back and recommend coming here!

Our stay was great. The only downside about this hotel is that there is no parking and you either have to park out on the street or in a parking garage two 1/2 blocks down the road. If you decide to park at the garage, it’s 45 bucks a night!! Other than the parking everything else was fine

The inside of the hotel was clean, modern, and classic. The walls are thing so may hear your neighbors. The area is okay but it is close to the unhoused neighborhood. There is no free parking by the hotel but they can refer you to a paid parking garage. What helped to survive was unlimited coffee and access to hot water in the lobby. there is also shared microwave oven in the lobby

The closet is roomy. They have Roku. There are C.O. Bigelow products for body care, shampoo, conditioner, and hand soap. Everything functions. There is a coffee machine in the lobby that also serves hot chocolate. The hotel is walking distance from Union Square, Muni trains and most bus lines. Being able to store your luggage before or after you check in is a plus. The staff was great and made for a smooth stay.

This is a nice micro-hotel. The room was a great size and we had a lovely view. The staff was very kind and helpful. Lots of great restaurants within walking distance. Only downside was the elevator was small and slow and while housekeeping was only offered once for our 3 night stay, all they did was give us fresh towels. We would stay again.

The room and the hallway is look clean, not have A/C , no parking so you have to pay extra $50 per overnight, they have coffee machines and water and ice machines also, No instructions anywhere.

Decent, but there’s no AC nor parking. You’ll need to park at garage. There’s one 3 blocks away with 24-hour access to your vehicle.

The hotel is far away enough from the tenderloin that the surrounding area is not a problem. There hotel itself is basic but for a comfortable bed and shower it’s fine and a good base from which to explore the city. There is no breakfast option but coffee and water are available in the lobby.

Absolutely no amenities. No parking. Tv options are lousy. No restaurant, soda machine. No chair to sit down in your room. At $733 for 2 nights, I feel that we were robbed.

Unfortunately, while charged premium rates due to MS Ignite conference, my room was not attended to or cleaned for 5 days. The towels not replaced, bins overflowing. The room had a wet mucky smell. Not sure from what. I tried to open the window and that made no difference. When I spoke to staff (gentleman in reception) downstairs saying my room hasn’t been cleaned for 4 days at that point, I was told: ‘We have a lot of check ins, so not going to happen’. The carelessness for the amount they charge was insane. I would definitely not recommend this place. I checked out after this and went to stay at another hotel. When I asked for at least the leftover days refund, I was told that I’ve rejected their service. There was no service to reject, just very bad experience.

This was a very disappointing stay. In both the tub and bed there were what looked like (and I hope were) pieces of dirt with fuzz attached to them that smelled a little bit. I sent a complaint to the hotel after my stay and never heard back. You can do better than this.

There was no heat or AC in the building. It's late November in San Francisco and they've yet to turn on the boiler in the hotel so that the radiators can heat the rooms. They're is no exhaust vent in the bathroom to remove the moisture from taking a hot shower. There was mold all over the bathroom and in the bedroom. Itook a shower at night and there was still condensation in the bathroom by morning. I asked the front desk for a heater and all they did was bring me an extra blanket. I had to heat my room using the blow dryer. It was 53⁰ F and 84% humidity outside at night. By morning my room was 60⁰ F and everything was damp. ALL of my clothes were damp, I had to iron the dampness out of my clothes before putting them on. When I talked to the hotel staff about the lack of heat they said that the heat has not come on yet this year. So fire the entire year, the entire hotel has not had any dehumidification the entire year. All of the showers plus the humidity from outside just accumulates in every fiber in the hotel and never dries out. There was even mold in a decorative box on the dresser.

Decent area and nice cafe's less than a block away. Parking was a bit of a walk, but safe. Rooms were small but good enough for our time in SF. Shower curtain was a bit yellow and definitely needed to be replaced. Overall good stay.

Stayed there for a week. The front desk said the cleaning person will be servicing every two days and I left the two wet towels on the floor on the specified day, the cleaning person didn't service and I didn't have any towels. Next day I couldn't take a shower due to lack of clean towels as they are on the floor. The front desk didn't even apologize and gave me three towels when I approached them in the evening. The hot water in the shower was luke warm at best.

The bed was comfortable. The view was very interrsting. We could see the bay in the distance. Many good restaurants close by. Transit was frequent and convient. The vroom was nice.

During our stay the weather was very warm. The hotel has no A/C and room windows only open 2 inches for safety reasons. Ceiling fan works but blows no air downward. Radiator heater remains on and only warm to the touch, but still hot in an already warm room. You have to use your phone for the access code to the room, which is cool, but not cool when wifi doesn't work.

The room was huge for being a SF hotel.

I really liked this hotel. Biggest walk in closet I’ve ever seen at a hotel, which made it nice bc we could store our suitcases in the closet and out of the way. My only complaint is that the walls are kind of thin. We could hear someone’s tv on in the early morning/talking outside our door.

The room was great and cozy, it was not luxury but for the price it was a great accommodation. It was clean and overlooked the city in a cool way. The staff was nice and helpful where needed.

Location was ok. The walls are thin, and you can hear the neighbor. No chair or desk, which would be good. Otherwise, the service was amazing, and the Hotel is a good option for cheaper travel.

No desk or chair in room, which is terrible if you're trying to eat some food or get some work done. Location is good.

The check in process took almost an hour, this was after waiting a half hour for staff to assist me in checking in, all while the man at the front desk didn’t tell me I could do it online. Otherwise my stay was great and I would go back!

I reserved a single night stay with my wife after retrieving her from a fight at San Jose International Airport. The initial room had a loud sound through the vent. I alerted staff about our concerns and was promptly provided an alternate room without any issues. We enjoyed a wonderful restaurant (Minnie Bell's Soul Movement) near the hotel and returned to a clean/quiet room. I would patronize the hotel again.

For starters they use a keypad for all their rooms that require a 7 digit code...the problem is the keypad isn't backlit and good luck remembering 7 digits by which they advise you to take a screenshot or jot it down...aside from that, the TV in my room was disconnected from the WiFi so you couldn't really use it...they opted me to switch rooms...by the way, the rooms do not have phones so you'll need to use your cell phone and/or email to communicate with guest services who may or may not respond promptly. As for the cleanliness, the bathroom sink and shower had hair strands that were left by I assume the previous guest. This tells me the bathrooms aren't thoroughly cleaned after the guest leaves...staff begins to clean nearby rooms and hallways pretty early so don't expect to sleep past 9am if you're a light sleeper. This is located in Nob Hill which I guess is the downtown area which is full of homeless, "service ladies", and questionable individuals... I chose this place due to price and the proximity of the event I was going to, and also because I was only staying for 2 nights so I guess it's ok under those circumstances, there are better hotels a few blocks away so if you can afford it I suggest staying in one of those instead.

FOUND hotel was great. The customer service was fantastic; they upgraded my room for no reason. Just because they had a better room available for me. The rooms were clean, and the location is great.

This was a great stay for the value for my overnight in SF. Check-in was easy (I got to check in 45 min early with no problem), the staff were friendly, and the room was clean and comfortable. It was also great to be able to store my luggage for a couple of hours after I checked out. A couple things I wish I knew ahead of time: the room did not have A/C (fortunately it wasn't hot), and there wasn't a desk or chair. I also wish the hotel information in the guest portal included the location of water and ice and the correct wifi access code. Please note that the area is not the most pleasant (my main ick was that it smells bad and the sidewalks had a lot of... unsavory material on the ground to watch out for), and if you're taking public transit, the hotel is up a hill. But it's conveniently close walking distance to Union Square and several consulates. There are also many food choices nearby. If I need to go to a consulate again (and if my budget range is the same) I'll probably stay here again.

Old style hotel but perfectly clean and very well located

Dangerous streets, my car window was broken and our belongings were stolen. Do not stay in this area.

We have a wheelchair and got a somewhat accessible room on the main floor. Bathroom was marvelous, enough room for the chair to turn around. The long hallway with very difficult turnaround in bedroom was difficult. The wheelchair entrance was locked at 10 pm so don't try that solo. Interesting couple of blocks on edge of Tenderloin and Knob hill districts. We will probably stay again.

For someone who has never been to SF, this was not a bad choice of hotel or location IMO. We casually walked about 30 minutes to hit the Wharf; jumping on a downhill cable car for the last few blocks truly kicking off the SF feel for our trip. The car ended right at Jefferson for Irish coffees at The Buena Vista - dont skip out. After, we went to Musee Mechanique and walked to a few piers. Had cocktails at Boudin for a "less authentic break" ;) with clean restrooms. And then walked all the way to China town from the Wharf. Had a late lunch at Mission Chinese - Dont skip that either! We took an $8 Uber from Mission district back to our room where we then walked to the Tonga Room in the Fairmount hotel. $15 cover if you sit, but walk ins welcome and its a floating bar! Emmy's spaghetti is also down in the Mission district - DONT SKIP OUT lol. Point being - each time we returned home, it was quiet, clean and safe. no crime, low homeless rate around. and the staff was knowledgeable where to venture and where to steer away from. We walked almost everywhere tho. Rented Lyft e-bikes for $34 for 2 hours and rode over 20 miles, across the bridge into Sausalito, and all the back to the Wharf for lunch again Sunday. Carlton waiting at the end of each venture out. Room 505 was perfect size, bathroom had good pressure. nice air flow. no smells. fridge in room. cant complain except our door got stuck a few times ;) they have automatic doors so that was stressful but worked fine.

This was an excellent place to stay. It was in a safe district, with cafes and small stores, like Trader Joe’s, close by. Easy to be picked up by ride services. Probably an old building, but very well restored and decorated. I would go there again

I was very pleased with our stay. Great location everything is very close such as coffee shops, boutique stores, restaurants, and local liquor stores. Very close to Chinatown, union square, and DTSF.

I should have gotten his name but the older gentleman that works the front desk during the day was so nice and helpful! Went out of his way to answer all our questions as was an excellent resource as far as telling us where to catch the cable car and restaurants. Etc. LOVED the 24/7 coffee machine, what a nice touch for guests.

Staff were very friendly and helpful. We were able to check in about 4.5 hrs early and after we checked out, we were able to leave our bags behind and still do a bit of sightseeing before having to leave for the airport; our bags were tagged, we got a ticket, and the bags were locked in a separate room used to store luggage. The room itself was comfortable. Noting that there is only one small elevator. Additionally, the area around the property is not the best (garbage and feces on sidewalks). Property is close to bus stops, which was helpful for getting around the city. Property also close to Chinatown and approx. 30 mins walk to Fisherman's Wharf. Many good local dining establishments also within 10 mins walking in multiple directions.

I stayed for a night, it was a good location. The walls are not entirely isolated but it was acceptable. The Bathroom had a good size, they could’ve cleaned it a little better though. Also, the carpet was a little dirty and stuck to the socks. Overall, I liked it, the room seemed modern and you have a nice view
