San Remo Hotel offers a quirky, historic stay near Fisherman’s Wharf, appealing for its price and charm but polarizing due to tiny rooms, shared bathrooms, thin walls, and limited modern comforts like air conditioning, elevators, or in room amenities.

Great location. My room had a private bathroom but it was with a sliding door that didn’t close anywhere near tight and the shower door leaked water onto the floor. Also the sink was placed outside the bathroom (?). You should choose this for the location and decent rooms but would not recommend for couples.

If you are claustrophobic, don’t stay here. Our room was basically an updated closet. You walk in to a bed and sink in the tiniest room ever and a skinny attached bathroom with a toilet and shower. There was a plug for a TV on the wall, but no TV. No space to put anything. Coffee is available in the lobby but apparently we got up too early to take advantage. Not a hotel to enjoy yourself in. The only reason we were happy was the friggin awesome restaurant downstairs with the best Italian food we have ever had! They are not affiliated with the hotel. Oh, and there was NO parking. I had to circle the block for an hour before I found something.

The bed was very comfortable and the room clean. Room very small with little space to open up luggage. Would have been helpful to know PRIOR to teaching that there is no elevator service and luggage needs to be brought up one flight of stairs
