Charming hotel, good service, quiet. Older hotel with normal tradeoffs — elevators are slow, the TV is low tech, etc. Get to the pool early on the weekend if you want pool chairs. Try the ceviche!

We booked the Roosevelt to be close to the pulse of Hollywood, while having the nice facilities of the pool, bar and restaurant. But as there was a private event taking place that weekend, the pool and bar was closed and we couldn’t even go through the lobby to the street. This was no way near the experience we expected. The hotel gave us a reduction on our bill, which we accepted. Recommend for the hotel to notify guests in advance in situations like this, so you have the chance to make another choice. Room was OK, but not great, window was frosted and couldn’t open. Aircondition was very loud.

If you are just going for the historic charm this is a good choice. The rooms are not quiet. Our AC sounded like a cruise ship was passing by every time it clicked on. Let's not mention the incredibly loud guests all around you the second the weekend hits. The pool is iconic and offers nothing more. The poolside service was attentive but forgot about closing out our tab when it was requested and there was quite a a wait there. There was also an unruly guest escorted out by security screaming profanities in front of children. If you want a lounger, you'll want to avoid the weekend. I'd you do get a lounger they are all shaded which was nice. There was only one working elevator for the entire hotel. Your options during your stay are to climb stairs every time you want to get to or from your room or wait about 10mins solid each time for the elevator. It wasn't busy while we stayed there so I can only imagine how it would be when it's crowded If you want Hollywood history and don't mind these things, the lobby is very nice and there is a lot of history here. If you want a relaxing getaway from the bustle of your LA trip, this is a hard pass.

Pathetic stay with just one small elevator (6-7 person) working for Guests, staff members, luggage handlers and for food service for all 12 floors. Have to wait for 15mins to use elevator everytime when we have to go down or go up to the room. The property is not worth the value for a ~$250 per night even though it is located in prime location. While coming to parking it is $75 flat for a overnight. Please check with someone befire you book

Great location in West Hollywood. Close to the 101 freeway. We had a nice big room (called the loft room) with big l windows and a beautiful bathroom. The pool area is great. We stayed during the week so were able to get loungers every day. When we arrived on Sunday afternoon the pool area was packed. They also had a DJ playing loud music and it was a party scene til about 5pm. But during the week no DJ and it was very calm and relaxing. Staff very responsive to any request.

While the hotel is beautiful and the staff is friendly, one of the main lights in the room was broken, the ice bucket and glasses were filthy and from very early in the morning we could hear the staff in the hallway. We also ordered room service which didn’t come for 90 minutes and we had to leave so we cancelled it. Very historic landmark, but not great value for what you’re paying.

It’s an excellent location, but meals were way overpriced. Unfortunately, it’s a vintage hotel and at times there were odors like mildew in the lobby. The bathroom floor tile did not look clean. The shower did not function well. The AC unit was unreasonably loud. Paid a lot of money and was hoping for something with fewer issues.

The A/C was so noisy we could not use it. The blinds didn’t cover the windows fully. The housekeepers room was next to ours so again very noisy in the mornings. The bathroom floor was in need of upgrading. We would not call this a premium room at all. One the plus side the bed was super comfortable.

Room was clean, check in was fast. Went to lobby to have drink at their bar, say in front of fireplace, as we were drinking our drinks a huge cockroach ran from under the couch to another one, then between ke and husband in under the table in front of us and our friend stonped on it. As we told the waiter it seemed like no big deal. I went to the checkin counter and told staff and they 1st told us that that happens by the pool. I let her know we we were inside and she stopped for a min and then proceeded to give me 2 drink tickets after i told her that it makes me wonder if inshould eat or drink anything here, definately no happy with that. Have photo but it wont let me upload it

We stayed for one night only, it was very old Hollywood! Room decode was very updated but old school. Room was comfortable, noise level from outside was a bit much but died down after 11pm. My only issue was the bedding. It was rather too soft and not thick enough. It was tough to get fully comfortable even for one night.

Interesting historic property--Old Hollywood vibe with great period lobby. Nice pool with excellent poolside dining. Great location across from Grauman's Chinese Theater, and on the Walk of Fame (nicer part). However . . . the AC in my room was ancient and extremely noisy, with a pounding sound whenever in the cooling cycle--this went on all night since the weather was hot. The hallways were dark and right out of 1920. The maids/maintenance people did not seem to know when a guest had checked out--at 8:30 am a maid knocked on the door, and at 10 am a workman barged into my room without knocking. I was in a state of major undress. Don't think I will be going back.

Absolute beautiful hotel. PROS: convenience. Right in the heart of Hollywood so you don't need to walk far for anything. Seriously comfortable beds Rooms are very quiet Room service was exceptional Easy check in and out Polite staff CONS: Room was crazy small. Felt really cramped. No coffee maker in the room Windows did not open at all. Not even a crack Elevators kept breaking down Overall experience- 8 out of 10 stars.

Lovely hotel, comfortable bed. Walls very thin - can hear people in the hallway and rooms nextdoor. Great experience for one night but wouldnt be wanting to stay for an extended time as sleeping can be difficult if you are a light sleeper.

We wanted to stay in a historic beautiful hotel in Hollywood near all of the sights. The Hollywood Roosevelt fit the bill and more! We stayed in one of the Loft suites which was very spacious and had plenty of room for a family of three. We had a very comfortable bed, plenty of privacy and quiet even though we were staying on Hollywood Blvd which is bustling with activity. The staff is incredible from the elevator operators to the valet parkers. Everyone welcomes you with a smile when you walk in the door. Excellent grade A service! We ate at one of the restaurants and used the Tropicana Pool once. Unfortunately we were here during the 4th of July and the pool was very busy and people who were not hotel guests were using the pool loungers which was disappointing as we really wanted to take advantage of the beautiful pool. Overall I would recommend the hotel to someone who has never visited LA and wants to experience the Hollywood life. It's an iconic and beautiful place to stay.

Hotel is in a very good shape and perfect location. Universal studios is 10 min and downtown is 15 min by car/uber. Rooms are sufficient enough in terms of size. Beds are confortable. Only disadvantage is air condition which works incredibly loud. It was not needed in may but it may be a question mark in summer. Lobby bar and restaurant are great. Cocktails are very delicous.

We are locals who stayed here for a girls weekend, and we were shocked at all the extra fees hidden at every level of experience at the Hollywood Roosevelt. From drinks by the pool to the room itself to the restaurant which was admittedly delicious, it seems like they’re sneaking in hidden fees at every level. Our stay ended up being over $1000 for one night, one round of drinks, room service light breakfast of fruit and coffee and one dinner for three women two of whom are vegetarian. We will not be returning to the Hollywood Roosevelt and caution anyone else against staying here and getting overcharged. Not to mention the check in process was me checking myself in on an iPad, there was no late checkout available and the service except for the restaurant and room service was horrible. No thank you, it’s not me it’s you. Next.

Didn’t honor my reservation , was told Expedia misrepresented the hotel because the room i ordered was not available ( they gave my reservation) to someone else , took three hours to receive a proper accommodation i was so depressed, and in duress that i decided to move My bags from my original room to another room smh the elevator didn’t work i waited ten for fifteen minutes each time , and i just had foot surgery, first day i felt that miserable in A very long time.

This hotel is an absolute gem. The property is beautiful and so clearly a part of Hollywood history. The rooms are spacious and unique. The hotel staff was kind, very professional, and went above and beyond to create a special experience for our girls when they wanted to see a view of the Hollywood sign. The only downside at all was that the front desk was consistently understaffed during our stay, leading to 20 min lines for check-in and check-out. All in all, we'd stay here again in a heartbeat!

Very nice hotel but severely lacking in service. We stayed an extra day and picked this hotel for the pool. The service at the pool was just terrible. Our first server left without telling us I had to ask 2 others for some service. The one we finally got after 40 minutes was rude and it took us even longer to get lunch. Light dinner at the lobby wasn’t much better. The highlight of the trip was the great service that we had from the mixologist at the Library bar. He was just friendly and fantastic. He also told us that the gratuity was already on our bill. Neither of the two previous waitresses had told us that and we didn’t look close enough at the bill so they were double tipped. Which really irritated me since the pool waitress didn’t even deserve 1 tip and she got two substantial tips. The day at the pool was anything but relaxing with the loud music that a dj was playing. I’m not even sure what to call the music he was playing. We are early 50s but the average age at the pool was probably 60 so the music was a bit much for everyone. The drink menu at the pool is mostly $20 specialty drinks or expensive wine. They had 5 beers and the two that I tried to get they were out of. The kicker was that we also had great service from our bell hop, Chris coming and going but their ATM wasn’t working and since it’s a cashless property we didn’t have any cash on hand to give him. Sure wish we could have taken some of the waitresses tip and give it to him!

The check-in process took much longer than necessary, nearly a half-hour after I'd arrived at the hotel. While I was offered lobby bar drink coupons during the wait for my room to be ready, I would have been happier to just get into my room. Additionally, while I was preparing to check-out, I was locked out of my room a couple of minutes before checkout time (even though my key had worked perfectly up to this moment) and needed to have hotel security let me into my room to grab my luggage. The person security was working with initially couldn't find any record of my stay, so it took about 10 minutes standing outside my room before I could get back in. This is an amazing, historic property, but the guest rooms could do with some updating. The bathrooms are old, and the wood floors in my room were scratched and had large nicks showing raw, splintered wood. Also, there is such a large collection of purchasable items on the room desk, it limits use OF the desk. Additionally, other than the closet the room had no storage to speak of, and required everything to be stacked on closet shelves. On the plus side, the bar staff, valet staff, and security agent were all very polite, friendly, and courteous. Also, the drinks and food at the bar were great. This was my second stay at this hotel, but I don't think I'll stay there again. I enjoy the common areas, the pool area, and many of the amenities - but none of these make up for the guest rooms or the check-in/checkout issues.

Brasserie Shirley is rather costly and bad value what with some very mediocre menu items , like the caesar salad. And $8.00 for a demi-baguette is quite over the top, considering in Paris it is priced @ 0.50 (U.S.). So forth and so on....

Had a thoroughly enjoyable stay at this hotel. Staff were super friendly and helpful. Hotel, whilst in the thick of West Hollywood, was an enclave away from it all and had good proximity to other places and activities. Great pool with bar- lovely lobby bar with entertainment. Would definitely book here again.

This is a nice hotel in the heart of Hollywood and close to pretty much all the attractions or the must see things that you would want to do or see when you are in Hollywood. The hotel is old so it is not the newest amenities or furniture or room look and feel, but it was not a bad stay, and I actually would stay here again. The one thing that we did not enjoy was the food we ordered breakfast and we also went to the poolside and ordered some food and both times it was just terrible so for such an iconic hotel with such a vibe, I would recommend investing in a good chef or cooks because the food was just not it

The hotel itself was wonderful, pool area, staff, breakfast cafe and bar are soo great. The Shirley restaurant in the hotel wasn’t up to standards, late sitting us with a reservation and then waiting 30 minutes for a drink. Overall good experience

I’ve stayed at this hotel on many occasions and it’s always been good with most trips being better. Due to events not everything was accessible as a resident such as the lobby and elevators which although not a disaster given we travelled from the UK and staying a couple of nights it was restrictive. The perks previously afforded being a gold member were not applicable such as room upgrades and the $30 food and beverage voucher which again are not deal breakers as they say it’s the little things that make a difference. I booked a deluxe king size tower room but when checking in I was told it was a premier room and it’s the same but if felt different, again the subtle changes can make a big difference especially when there’s no explanation. We will return and hopefully these minor issues are just a one off.

The room was clean and spacious but the bathroom was tiny. We were in the Blossom suite but the bathroom was big enough for just one. You have to go downstairs to the Tropicana cafe to order breakfast. But if you do order room service, everything on the menu is $2-$4 more expensive and an additional 18% service charge is added. There is meant to be complimentary water on the room which was never left in our room. Despite asking housekeeping. I really didn’t like how the pool staff referred to the hotel guests as ‘travellers’ and preferred locals. All in all, it is fine this place but next time I’d definitely pick a different hotel.

things really went downhill from the last time. I stayed here two years ago the place feels worn and we had no idea that the two restaurants in the hotel were closed. The elevator was shut down for two days to accommodate someone doing an event or film, shooting on the roof. It was very frustrating to try to get up and down. If they get things back together, I would consider this Hotel again on a trip to Hollywood.

We are so glad we chose to stay at this historic hotel. From the moment we arrived, we felt as though we could envision the celebrities of the 1940s & 1950s staying here and enjoying the hotel’s beautiful pool and lounge areas. The historic character and atmosphere really make this property special. The tile work throughout the hotel was absolutely beautiful and added to its old-Hollywood charm. Our room was rather small, but given the age and history of the hotel, we felt that was appropriate for the time period and part of the experience. One area that does need attention is the lobby. The check-in area is very dark, and the steps leading from the entrance to the check-in desk can be difficult to see and potentially dangerous. Better lighting in this area would greatly improve both safety and the arrival experience. The hotel is located right on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, making it an excellent location for exploring Hollywood and many nearby attractions. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and loved the opportunity to experience a piece of Hollywood history. If you appreciate historic hotels, classic Hollywood charm, and a unique atmosphere, this hotel is definitely worth considering.
