Surf City Inn

No outdoor space or balcony on the property. Rooms are spacious with convenient appliances: microwave, coffee, hairdryer and refrigerator. Excellently cleaned interior. Property states no elevator. Not handicapped accessible.

Great property, NO ELEVATOR. But overall nice place.

Ice machine broken, very limited parking, key cards had to be reset every day, it was just okay overall but I would choose somewhere else next time. The nice thing is that is within walking distance of the beach.

This was my second stay. The location is terrific and pedestrian friendly - short walks to beach, restaurants, fun bars, the historic water tower. A friendly and helpful staff. Free covered parking. Not disabled-friendly: no elevators and all rooms are on second and third floors with steep stairwells. Basic and not fancy - no pool, breakfast or other amenities. Right on PCH, so rooms on that side exposed to traffic noise. But a good value for the location and price. I am likely to return.

Room was relatively clean- though there was some hair in the bathtub/shower. It smelled like cleaning chemicals a bit, so at least it was clear they did clean the room. The inn is right on the highway, so you really can’t walk anywhere-seems like it would be dangerous to try to walk to the beach/water. Parking was great-lots of available spots, didn’t have to worry about finding a place to park. THERE IS NO ELEVETOR. I didn’t mind much, but if you have trouble walking, or climbing stairs, don’t stay here. No working vending machines on site, they are all broken. It felt a little sketchy, but it was fine for the short stay I had here. Overall not terrible. Probably wouldn’t stay here again, but I’ve definitely stayed at worse hotels over the years. 2* is about right.

The property was under some renovations, but overall was good. Close to the beach and quick access to fun in the sun. There is not an elevator, and they did not have a crib either.

Very nice staff and responsive. The facility needs a complete makeover: paint, maintenance, vending machines don’t work.

We read of the site that the office was open until midnight. We had a late flight as we were flying from a return trip to the east coast. However, it closed at 10 PM. The front desk fortunately worked with me to check in earlier, and I used the office phone to call for the key. The rooms are quite comfortable, even though very basic. There is a refrigerator, small microwave and a hair dryer in the room. There are dispensers for conditioner, lotion, shampoo and hand soap. You may need to call only for towels and if the steam from the bathroom sets the smoke detector off, like during our stay. The location is better than I first thought when I arrived. You CANNOT see the ocean from the hotel. There are rows of houses in front of your view. However, if you brave the walk to the light so the south, with no sidewalk, there is a cute little Mexican Restaurant, an entrance to the beach, and a cool water tower house / B&B. The room is not quite, especially after 7 AM. I heard the cleaning staff and others too easily. Especially after a long night on Friday at Haunted Horror Night in Hollywood. One very unpleasant thing is the smallest parking spaces in the open covered parking (under the hotel). It was a nightmare squeezing into the last real space Friday night.

Hotel was reasonably priced in a convenient location. The stairs were a bit steep, especially for taking luggage up. Overall it was a good place to stay short term.

We stayed there for only two nights and as other comments have stated yes the floors were not cleaned regularly. However worst for me was in my 326. A nail head was sticking out of the floor. You can see in the photo it's just sticking out. It was located just as the entryway Hall transitioned into the bedroom area. You can kind of see in the photo. The bed was a little on the firm side but it was still soft enough for me to sleep as a side sleeper. The place was a little noisy at certain times. The shower nozzle coming out of the ceiling was a little weird. I had never seen that in a place before. It's not a deal-breaker but someone might like to know. It was nice close to the beach. There is no elevator and rooms are only on the second and third floor. So be prepared to climb stairs if you get the third floor. A lot of stairs

Our experience at Surf City Inn was good overall and I definitely think it's worth the price for a stay. I'll go through my fair and sincere pros and cons in hopes that it'll be helpful. Pros: - Walking distance to Sunset Beach, which was quiet, beautiful and not at all busy. At certain times of day, you can see dolphins swimming 20-30ft from the shore! - Loved the food and drink options nearby (especially Tacos Surf, Himalayan Grill and Luv Collective café!) - Very reasonable price - Right on the Pacific Coast Highway, with nearby OC Transit bus stops that can take you to Huntington Beach or Long Beach - Microwave and mini fridge right in the room - Let us check in early at no extra cost Cons: - The inn is a bit old and showing its age. The rooms were clearly recently renovated, but because it's not a recently built building, noise carries pretty easily. You can hear footsteps above you and voices from other rooms, especially if they're speaking loudly - We found multiple black hairs near our pillows and under the covers when we first showed up—I'm blonde and my partner has short brown hair, so these very much weren't ours - Smoke alarm goes off easily from the steam of a shower That said, we loved being able to stay so close to the coast for a very reasonable price. We weren't looking for luxury anyway!

The room was very clean. However the stairs and entrance to the property were not clean and were a bit dark and scary. The reception area was very dirty and the front desk person needed a bath, a shampoo, and a change of clothes.

Me and my friends travel on a budget and like this place bc of walkablilty to some bars and restaurants a coffee shop and a beach. Our room had nice queen beds with very nice quilts and a big window you can actually open and get the ocean breeze. The bathroom is nice but they have overheard showerheads which is inconvenient. Also the floor was really dirty and gave us Kmart feet. Cleanliness was otherwise good.

Very nice rooms. Very clean! Smelled nice as soon as we walked in. Not strong, but nice.

Surf City Inn was quiet and convenient. Very clean. Was more affordable than all of the other nearby hotels. I would recommend this hotel to others.

My trip was over the course of 3 days. The hotel is dated, and wasn't what I would consider to be clean. The lady at the front desk was nice. There aren't safety locks on the door, which I found concerning. There was just a basic lock on the door, which could have been unlocked with a key. The room had a moldy smell, which I did inform the front desk of.

Clean and spacious. Worked well for my family (me, wife, toddler) and staff was very friendly and easy for check in & out. The only thing I would recommend would be changing the shower system with rain shower head. I am a tall guy, and it was very hard to rinse off. No complaints otherwise!

Not pedestrian friendly due to a lack of sidewalks in immediate vicinity of the hotel.

Shower hot water was very slow to start and the shower was a bit leaky and loud

The hotel room was clean, quiet, spacious, and soothingly decorated. Bathroom featured an overhead rain-style showerhead, and update feel. Beds were unusually comfortable. The hotel is not fancy, but I’d recommend for short or extended stay- good value.

Cable tv did not work.

The room was excellent with recent refurbishment making the difference. Larger than normal "chain hotel" rooms, I would rate the room a 4-star level with refrigerator and microwave. The staff was professional and courteous. I would stay there again.

Our room felt like the traffic on PCH was coming right through our room. The entrance door to the steps leading up to the rooms was very heavy and slammed shut any time anyone went in and out. It would startled us every time the door slammed shut. There were no table lights in the room. If you wanted to turn on a light in the middle of the night you had to turn on the ceiling flood lights. There was no place to sit other than on the bed. The only positive thing about the place is that we were refunded 2 days after the first night.

Spaciousness. View was ok. Beds comfy.

This is a great little hotel. It’s clean. It feels safe and it’s convenient. The customer service with excellent Mahendra greeted us when we got there and he was kind and welcoming. We will definitely stay there again.

This place is perfect for a weekend getaway. I wish there was more parking available when the motel is at full capacity, but still I would definitely come back. I appreciate the front desk's responsiveness and flexibility in allowing me to check-in late.

I had received a text on the morning of my pending stay, informing me my room was ready and available for early check in if I decided to come in early. I've never had that happen before, & I was pleasantly surprised, as I was already in town and was trying to figure out what to do to kill time for five or six hours before my scheduled check in time. The front desk clerk was very nice, I told her how much I appreciated the text & the early check in option. The room was very nice, cutely decorated, and smelled good too. Being just a few blocks from the beach was wonderful, and lots of little beach front shops and restaurants made for a really pleasant stay. Will def stay again when visiting in Seal Beach.

The Mom was rude at checkin to me. She called her daughter and the daughter was just as rude. Made me feel like they wanted me to leave. Housekeeper was kind

Great check-in experience and they let us check-in early for no cost. Easy to park. Room was great with a mini fridge and microwave. Shower was nice.

I arrived for my one night stay in my hot tub room for $183 at around 8:30p on the 30th, I was tired so I didn’t use my hot tub that night planned to bright and early. I woke up at 6 filled the tub with bubbles and epsom salt started the water and NO HOT WATER. I kept trying for a while by 7am I called the office notifying them. It was a very hard conversation because they barely spoke English so after explaining a few times. She then she said “ok I will call maintenance and it will be fixed by 10” I told her but my checkout is at 11am. She just said “ok” not understanding what I was implying that that was an hr before check out. It was not ever fixed! At 11am I went to the office to ask for a refund or something and I was blown away at the lack of customer service and treatment I received. I was called a liar until I forced the lady to walk to the room and check which she finally did with another maintenance lady. When they confirmed I was not lying she then started saying I quote “how you spend the night and now want refund, why you no check the water before you sleep the night” ummm…I’m sorry I didn’t make sure I had hot water before I went to bed. I was told to wait around for 2 hrs to see what could be done. I asked for a manager and I was told “there was no manager I could talk to” “they is no manager for them to call”. Then as I said that can’t be, she said I can only call him at 1p and that he wouldn’t be physically there he only comes once a month.

We get there clerk super rude didn’t know we couldn’t smoke vapes there so I asked to cancel and they were super rude about it and wouldn’t let us so plus the room we reserved was 1 bed she was giving us 2 cause she didn’t have the one I wanted someone else walks in and didn’t have a reservation and got a room with 1 bed they were talking about us in another language I had my translator on so we ended up walking out and still have to pay $274.00 don’t know who to talk to

There is a secure door at the base of the stair case, which is a good safety precaution for guests, but the door slammed shut throughout the entire night. There was no chance for sleep, even being on the second floor. It was very loud, startling, and disruptive. No sleep was had. Reviews were misleading. No amenities or reconciliation for the night long - slamming door.

We stayed at the Surf City Inn while in town for a gymnastics meet. Great employees and we enjoyed our stay. Beds were comfortable and rooms were plenty spacious for my son and I. The location was very convenient right off of PCH and close to everything. Great local restaurants close by too.

We enjoyed our stay here for one night. The hotel is conveniently located within walking distance to the beach and many restaurants and other establishments. It is a good location for cycling along PCH or any of the nearby trails, also. Parking is convenient, and though there is some noise from it being located on PCH, a pair of earplugs did the trick. The room was clean, beds were comfortable, and staff were friendly.They even contacted us to let us know we could check in early, which we took advantage of!

Inconvenient access to beach. Had to drive to beach because the residential area was blocking the access. Nothing can really be done about it. We just thought being so close to the beach it would be in walking distance.

It appeared this hotel was right on the beach...but it was in the beach town. A mile to drive to the beach, so that wasnt bad. Just could not see yhe ocean from our location.

The property was easy to find as it sits on Pacific Coast Hwy. I was disappointed you couldn’t see the water from the hotel but it was an easy drive to Huntington Beach. The room was small but clean. There was a hairdryer but no iron or iron board. It’s worth noting that stairs were required to reach the rooms with no other way to get to them. Also, there was a wonderful little restaurant called Taco Surf within walking distance that had wonderful food and great service. All in all it was a good experience!

This was a small, quiet spot that was within walking distance of the beach and good spots to eat. Worth the price. One thing that was difficult though was walk to beach does not have sidewalk access for entire walk. Must use bike line. Not horrible but a somewhat annoying.

The Staff was awesome, very friendly, allowed us to check in early. The location was perfect, for walking to the beach and eating out at Damien Japanese & Teppan, Harbor Bay, Woody's and Taco Surf. We will be back for more fun and adventures!

Was an ok place to stay. No complaints. Would've been nice to have coffee pot in the room or at least available somewhere in the hotel. But it was a short walk to the Luv coffee shop north on PCH.
