Stayed 2 nights

We went to check in. It was late and were told we couldn’t be accommodated as our room type was no longer available. We were informed by an upset guest in the lobby that the rooms smelled strongly of cigarettes.

Go in knowing this is a bare-bones extended-stay property, not a traditional hotel. That said, even by budget standards it fell short. My room came with one towel, one sheet, and one bar of soap. That was it. No washcloth, no shampoo, no blanket, no comforter, no paper towels, no silverware, no water pitcher, and no coffee maker. There is no coffee or water available in the lobby either. The only water source I found was a fountain in the fitness center, and not even a bottle filler. Lobby access is very limited. You can only get in during a short window, roughly 11am to 2pm. Outside those hours you have to wait for someone to arrive, unlock the door, and open the gated window. Plan any front desk needs around that, including check-in. The WiFi is unusably slow, around 10mbps. You cannot even watch an Instagram short. Basic email might work if nothing is urgent and there are no images, but Teams and Zoom would not even log in. If you need to work remotely, do not count on the internet here. The room was billed as having a double bed, but one side was pushed against the wall, so realistically only one person can sleep in it. If you are booking for two, keep that in mind. The fitness center was dark and essentially empty. No free weights, no mats, no bench, just the water fountain. Smoke odor (of all varieties) in supposedly non-smoking rooms and common areas.

Stayed 4 nights

I booked this suite because I needed an extended stay location for a week long business trip. The GOOD: the place was really clean and the employees were friendly. The BAD: the beds are worn out and so are the pillows. After 2 nights sleeping on the “mattress,” I could barely walk because of hip pain but had to tough it out the rest of my stay because they would not offer a refund for the remaining nights. The UGLY: the walls and floors are tissue paper thin. You WILL hear your neighbors pillow talk at all hours. You WILL hear basic conversations all day and night since some of the “residents” are not working. Therefore, they stay up all night long. You will hear the people above you walking around all night. You will not sleep in this hotel. Furthermore, after the first night of no sleep and extreme discomfort, I asked for a refund so I could relocate to another place for the remainder of my business trip only to be told there are no refunds! I have to return to the Winston area in a few months for another week, but I’ll 100% stay somewhere else.
