La alberca estaba muy sucia, ademas, tuvimos que pedir que hicieran el aseo cuando llegamos en la noche, porque nos e hizo en todo el dia, salimos a la playa a tomar agua, y nos corrieron porque no te dejan ingresar agua al restaurante, que algunas mesas estan en la playa, no obstabte que la responsabilidad de hacer el cuarto fue de ellos, y la playa como tal es publica

I definitely wouldn't call this place a "Hostel" because it is much higher end than that. The Shared Rooms were extremely nice. The beds were comfortable & offered privacy. The Lockers were spacious. 2 Sinks, 2 Toilets, & 2 Showers to share. The Showers could be cleaner. They definitely need a through scrubbing, but it wasn't awful. They also have Private, King Beach Rooms that we got to take a look at & they are very clean & spacious. Would be perfect for a couples getaway. The Staff was incredibly friendly & helpful. Cannot say enough good things about every Staff member we met. The Onsite Restaurant has excellent food at fair US prices. Breakfast was fresh & delicious. Great Bar, including a small swim-up area from the Pool. The Beachfront was clean & provided plenty of lounge chairs & tables. We swam everyday. Beautiful Pier to walk out & watch Sunrises & Sunsets. We loved our experience at Mayan Monkey & will definitely stay there again.

We stayed in a jungle room. It was small but beautiful. The bed was super comfy. The room had a deep soaking tub which I love. There is a Japanese restaurant right next door that is very loud in the evenings. The hotel had a great private beach with plenty of day beds. The only bad thing was the pool was out of order our whole visit. A big part of how I choose a hotel is based on the pool. That was a bummer. Luckily there are a lot of beach clubs a short walk from hotel.

Enjoyed the spacious room and balcony with the beautiful view! They provided water & lots of towels. No refrigerators, we bought a cooler and filled it with ice and drinks. Loved the jungle vibes on the property. I found it very beautiful. I will warn you that there are lots of stairs & NO elevators. So if you have issues climbing stairs this would not be suitable for you. There was no one to help with luggage but they did let us store it while we waited on our room to be available. Check in was pretty quick and easy. We arrived about 20 minutes early and had to wait as our room was still being cleaned at 2:45. None of the staff at the bar ever spoke to us or asked if we needed anything. My daughter went to inquire if the restaurant took cash or card and took awhile to get any attention or an answer. We used the pool but did not eat or drink there. Enjoyed the property, room, and location.

Pool area was under maintenance. Customer service was not that good. Over priced and during the stat there was a water shut off. Cleanliness is mid.

Room was good but had no balcony or area to sit outside. Staff was excellent and the property was very clean and lush. Our room were on the other side of the main road which wasn’t the best. The beach and pool area is not great. Water is tuned up and murky the dock is not great and the pool is more like a wood Len box that could use an upgrade The restaurant was a really nice setting and the food was excellent.

Wow, what an experience. First a disclaimer that I do believe that the administration could invest in doing some cosmetic maintenance on the property like refurbishing the pool, redoing some woodwork, and another example my shower head (room 503) needed replacing, It was spraying all cockeyed. My sink would also clog up immediately. These are little things that add up. BUT! The customer service here is out of this world. You feel genuine appreciation from the staff about your visit and your experience here. I really was not expecting that, especially considering that you just never know when traveling internationally but the people here are amazing. The wait staff is amazing. The hotel staff is amazing. The restaurant food is outstanding! On top of just the stay itself, the hotel is very interactive with different amenities for purchase. (we rented a golf cart for a day and had a blast! Side note: administration would do well by upgrading the ones they have now because they aren’t running the best these days we had to switch our cart assignment twice due to that). They also have classes for the guests, they have a group chat where they post the actives for the day before. I can’t wait to go back and I actually hope to use their member and try out their other locations. Nice property with very friendly staff. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Lots of great activities on the property - yoga, sushi-making, mixology class, water color painting etc. (the teachers do it voluntarily so make sure to tip). Only note - if you get a beachfront room be prepared for loud bar music with nightclub beat until late into the night/morning.

The location and price were great. I took a star off for cleanliness. When the rooms were cleaned it wasn’t thorough and soap wasn’t refilled for days and showers were never cleaned. In the communal kitchen there were sparse supplied

Dorm with 16 beds was not mentioned. AC was very warm during the night. Cleaning could be improved.

Tranquila y limpia

My private room was clean and beautiful. The staff was friendly and very helpful. The only con is if you have "sweet blood" like me you will get eaten alive. BRING MOSQUITO/BUG REPELLENT!!! I didnt bring any. The hotel is situated in lots of vegetation so mosquitoes are crazy. Its also very easy to catch a cab or the bus directly in front of the hotel. Food was fresh and delicious for both breakfast and lunch.

Pool area was under maintenance. Customer service was not that good. Over priced and during the stat there was a water shut off. Cleanliness is mid.

Found a big human hair ball on the bed upon entering the room. Bugs that bit inside room (very uncomfortable) and leaking toilet.

The property and room is nice. We had a private room and it was very cozy and relaxing. The room itself is clean. Only complaint is the towels had an odd odor. We even got new ones the next day and still the same issue like a smell of wet dog or fishy when wet. I would recommend to the property to clean the area surrounding there was a lot of trash build up when overlooking the balcony entering our room. The location is in a nice secluded part of the island and it was great the restaurant stayed open late. Just be aware you will need a golf cart or be prepared to get a taxi to get to anywhere as the location is slightly far from downtown. The WhatsApp chat was a nice touch many of the ppl would chat to meet for community activity or to share a taxi which is a great option to have. If you’re looking for a low cost option in a quieter part of the island with a younger crowd then this is a great option.

We stayed in a jungle private room. The staff are incredible, so kind and helpful. Bartenders, servers and the food are great…amazing even. The jungle room view overlooks an outdoor nightclub and the entryway is facing a busy road. It was quite loud so might not have been a good fit for us early birds. The earplugs were much needed. Bed was firm. All acceptable but leaving this feedback for others.

I stayed for a few nights here and loved it. There’s a lot of areas to lounge(beach, dock, shaded areas, pumping/bean toss game areas; and my room had a balcony with a hammock which I loved. The whole place was cleaned everyday, and in good condition. My only issues was the WiFi/tv wasn’t working and the water on site smelled kind of funky(I’m not sure if this is an island issue). Aside from that I had no complaints. We rented a golf cart from them, later had a flat and they were quick to switch it out with another one. Staff were very nice and welcoming. I will be definitely coming back. Oh FYI they do play loud music at nights, personally I loved this but if you’re a light sleeper I would just take this into consideration (they do provide ear plugs).

Well clean room, hard bed, noise from club all night long techno music, requested cleaning, nobody ever came until day before checkout to clean, breakfast good just make sure you explain how you want your eggs-mine were overly well scorched over chilaquiles I asked green and got red, waffles served cold had to reheat, beach is private but pics really are a little deceiving, AC barely kept room cold, you can see holes through doors, walls on bottom of trim.nothing is close by to walk. Lots of stray cats and in restaurant licking food off empty plates. Flies heavy so sit by a fan to help this. No laundry room. Overall if we had no where to stay it’s okay but definitely pictures are deceiving. Go to playa Norte for sure if you want to see clear swimmable water and no rocks. Yoga I saw one day. Good - pillows, covers clean and soft. Towels clean but you need to go get your own towels. Music shuts off 11ish. Staff was decent not over the top to make sure all is good..Taxis outside always. Bus service to town cheap.

It was my second time visiting this place. I have to say that the rooms are great, but they are too noisy. I chose the jungle room, but I ended up in a different room facing the beach, where all the music is playing. Some of the employees on the beach were really nice, while others seemed like they didn’t want to wake up in the morning and come to work.

My husband and I stayed here for a couple nights during a longer stay on Isla Mujeres. We upgraded to a jungle room but they don’t tell you it’s across the street from the resort. The front desk agent was a bit unfriendly, nice but seemed bothered we arrived to drop bags early which seemed very common given it was more of a fancy backpackers resort. The room itself has a lovely jungle feel but is bare minimum. No where to put anything and our toilet wouldn’t fill with water after the first flush. Definitely visit the sushi place next door for hibachi!

We stayed in the private room with the bath tub and we were blown away! The room was great, and the view was beautiful as we looked out into the jungle. The only downside is that our shower never really got hot, I’d definitely stay here again.

Prijs kwaliteit was het ondermaats. Wifi was slecht in de kamers, in het hotel en op het strand was dit uitstekend. Douche had weinig druk en werd niet warm.

First, it’s beautiful even if some aspects are a little run down. Second, the staff was incredible! Mateo, Jesus & Armando in the restaurant took amazing care of us. When there was a delay on our food (which we weren’t bothered with at all as we were thoroughly just enjoying the ambiance and our drinks were never empty), the manager and Jesus gave us compt drinks & a dessert. The front desk was amazing & accommodating. They helped us coordinate our early flight & made sure that we left with food in hand since our departure time was before breakfast was served. We will definitely be coming back!

This hostel was just amazing, from the staff to the environment. We enjoyed everything about our stay here. Would definitely come back on future trips to Isla!

Personal de recepción al check in muy amable y clara con la información. Recepción al check out muy x, no dio seguimiento a la satisfacción del huésped. Meseros nada atentos. Me tuve que acercar para pedir AyB, no se me trajo lo que pedí y lo incluyeron en la cuenta. Les dieron la preferencia a extranjeros… se notó la actitud que muestran a nacionales.::

Me gustó mucho la música el ambiente Chill out, electrónica, lo tranquilo del ambiente. Las habitaciones limpias todos los dias, la atencion en area de AREIA de Charly, Mateo y Armando que nos recomendaron y apapacharon siempre. En area de recepción gracias y felicitaciones a Marly y Bryan siempre atentos a lo que les decíamos y solicitábamos. Tuvimos mi esposo y yo inconvenientes con el primer dia uno de los meseros que solo esperaba que nos termináramos las cosas para limpiar tipo "QUE MAS QUIEREN" no lo tomamos en cuenta por que nos divertíamos mucho. al paso de los dias vimos que efectivamente solo algunos de los meseros nos hablaban o ponian atencion lo cual lo tomo como DISCRIMINACION ya que hay muchos extranjeros . Pusieron solo 1 dia en el restaurante como hoster a una chica que solo hablaba ingles y como pude me comunique con ella. La playa es bellisima. Quisimos tomar las actividades pero solo Charly nos ayudo con el tema de la fogata de ahi pues mejor preferimos solo ir a desayunar (por que lo pagamos) y dormir. La comida rica nada espectacular; muy cara pero a mi parecer es tema general de toda la isla.

We really enjoyed Mayan Monkey - we stayed for two days. The beachfront the great, room was nice and the amenities offered were good. The only downside I have to offer, the service was so slow in the restaurant, bar and beach club. While most of the staff were phenomenal, that aspect also restricted our ability to order more of what we wanted since everything took so long. Otherwise, an awesome stay and will definitely consider coming back. Thank you!

Es una propiedad muy bonita, la playa, el muelle, la alberca son espectaculares, lo malo es que está lejos del centro o de lo principal y no hay opciones para comer, tener en cuenta que Mayan Monkey Hostel realmente en isla mujeres no tiene el concepto de hostel. Como en Los Cabos o en Cancún, no es para back packers, no tienen actividades como los otros o para socializar, increíble para venir si vienes con amigos o pareja

O quarto é aconchegante. Mas o hotel é barulhento e mal localizado . O ideal é ficar próximo à praia norte, onde há variedade de restaurantes . O serviço de café é restaurante é simplesmente muito desorganizado . Os garçons e funcionários são simpáticos, mas se atrapalham tentando atender a todos e se esquecem de tudo.

The property is located central Island on west side with a small beach and a long pier at the water. The beach was kept decent, there was seaweed sunken on the bottom, so there was only a little bit of sand to walk on in the ocean. We had a lower jungle room, which was small, but had everything we needed including a small veranda with chairs and small tables. The one complaint is the open air Japanese restaurant about 150 feet out the front door of room. You could not see it, but until 11 o’clock at night, you could certainly hear it. Some nights were worse than others. They do provide earplugs in the room. The staff was amazing, in fact, we needed a couple extra nights and Francisca at the front desk was very accommodating and a pleasure to deal with. They have bottled water you can fill your containers up with and they allowed us to store our luggage until our ferry ride back to the mainland was scheduled for. We had the included breakfast as part of our package. The price and quality is good, but we did skip it a couple days to hit up a couple of the other local restaurants. We were not a big fan of their coffee, but of course this is subjective. The beach club (Areia) associated with the hotel was a little bit confusing. Some mornings they played nice relaxing Spanish music. Others they played thumping electronic music. I think it all depends on who had control of the remote each day. My suggestion would be to read the room a little better. Great spot, beautiful island.

This was a beautiful hotel. However, there are limited in-room amenities such as hand towels. If you're not looking for a fancy but comfortable stay, I recommend Mayan Monkey. Keep in mind that to get to the downtown, you'll need a taxi ride, about 150 pesos in each direction.

Enjoyed my stay. Loved the Beach front and the vibe, have not tried beach volleyball though. No groceries nearby.

Love the secluded vibe. My wife and I stayed the the jungle room and it was worth it! We were able to get all the food from the island delivered to us through isladelivery website but I would say the only down side is that it’s not walkable to the north side. I loved the Areia beach club.

Loved it. Fell in love with isla mujares while I was there so I decided to get a bed for the night. Beautiful spot, huevos rancheros for breakfast was perfect. 10/10 would stay and will stay again. Thanks!

We had an absolutely magical stay at Mayan Monkey. They staff were amazing, the food and drinks were fantastic and the room was spacious and comfortable. Definitely the more chilled place on the island. Perfect for chilling on a sun bed and enjoying some cocktails and tacos.

Beautiful property with its own beach. This is a 5 star place to stay as long as you can put up with the music at night. Every night. Until midnight. Bartenders were great and so was the breakfast we ate here. Also had the margarita pizza late one night and it was delicious!

La recámara de diseñador se encuentra del otro lado de la calle y no muy cerca del beach club, en frente hay un restaurante que apaga la música a las 11 pero se siente muy independiente, lo único que si es mejorable es qué hay demasiada humedad el la recámara, ni con el aire acondicionado se siente menos húmedo, al parecer hasta tiene problemas de hongos de humedad, de allí en fuera la atención en el restaurante, el desayuno es muy bueno, la playa muy bonita y un muelle para unos atardeceres increíbles, 100% recomendable sin embargo no recomiendo las habitaciones que son de diseñador, siendo que son más caras, están más lejos de la playa, asimismo la atención con la recepcionista súper bien y muy accesibles para que una vez que hagas check out puedas guardara tus cosas y seguir disfrutando del beach club, estuvimos muy a gusto
