Enjoyed our stay. Very central location, the only drawback being the lack of parking. However, it wasn't too far to walk to the public parking and the hotel stamp your ticket to ensure you get a significant reduction at the car park.

Very satisfactory- room clean and a good size. Comfortable bed. One of the lifts was not working so that slowed things down but hotel is located very close to the railway station so easy to walk there and to the large pedestrian area of Reading

On checking in wasn't told at reception only one lift working plus guest where having problems with only lift working. I & others had problems using lift Friday/Saturday with lift stopping at correct floor when raised with staff they seemed to think we where having problems using swipe cards even when it was pointed out we couldn't get into lift to use cards. Think staff took a gamble that lift would hold out all weekend so wouldn't need to call out a engineer over the Bank Holiday weekend.

The only working lift was DREADFULL!! Many visitors, including me and my friend, spent too much time going up and down through floors we did not select on the panel. Even getting the panel to read our room cards was hit and miss. The door kept on opening and shutting but the lift did not move, The lift appeared to have preference over those calling the lift and not those within it. The young woman on reception was completely uninterested in anyone's complaints. She didn't respond other than look away. The only advice we got, from another member of staff, was to use the lift in the hotel next door. This was only made arranet as we were checking out! My friend had had a knee operation only three weeks prior to our visit. Using the stairs up five flights was not idea, but better than being on the 10th floor, as some people were.

I stayed for 4 nights and from the 1st day I had to go down to the reception to get my room keycard reloaded as it stopped working. I was told at reception that it was probably due to me having my keycard too close to my mobile phone! I told her that my mobile was in my front left pocket and my keycard in my back right pocket so it couldn’t be that. So basically the receptionist was blaming me for the keycard not working. This then happened again on every day of my stay. Each time the receptionists came out with the same reason! This tells me that this excuse is scripted and that they frequently have guests who need their keycards reloaded. Here’s an idea - get a better keycard that actually works!! My 2nd complaint is about the lifts. When I arrived only one lift was working! There was a queue for the lift and when the lift arrived it was full of the cleaning staff with their bedding trollies! It took about 10–15 mins to actually get from reception to my room! Again during the next 4 days it was a nightmare waiting for a lift that wasn’t full of cleaning staff or guests trying to get back down to reception or breakfast. When I asked one of the staff how long the broken lift had been out of order I was told just over 2 weeks! So Ibis don’t really care about the guests or are totally oblivious to good customer care! If they were then the broken lift would be a very high priority!

Reasonably priced very near station and centre so convenient for my purpose. The concierge asked if I wanted high up or low down. I chose high. I turned out one of two lifts was not working. So as I had only a small rucksack I took the stairs to the 12th floor. This turned out to be an aerobic workout, so I repeated it twice. Definitely recommended. Minor irritation was lack of written information even on the TV welcome screen. I was supposed to go to a web page via a QR code, but I had no signal nor wifi information. I didn't ask but usually this is given on check-in. Otherwise no complaints and if in Reading again "I'll be back".

The room was good. The power plug near the bed was broken. The bathroom was clean, but they could have cleaned the floor a bit better. There were some signs of wear and tear in it and in the lift as well. The bed was comfy.

TV was not working- technician came & it was sorted after half an hour but I missed East enders. Again in the morning it was not working and the technician did not start till 8am and by that time I had to checkout to go to work.The bathroom wash basin was very dirty and the water cattle inside was not clean either, I had a sore throat the next day

Room was smelly, and quite small. Air con was old and dated, and not very effective. I would choose to stay elsewhere next time. Shower head was loose in the holder and wouldnt stay in position.

small room (but nice for shorter trips), VERY friendly and helpfull staff, the breakfast buffet was quite nice: there was a bit of everything :-) Cleaning... well... while I was trying to look for something I thought I lost in the room I found (i) a (thankfully) unused condom between the mattresses and (ii) a pill on the floor below the bed. The part underneath the faucet handle was also a bit sticky when I first "moved in".

I would try another Ibis. I would not choose to stay at this hotel again, though. Design flaw in bathrooms impacting plumbing. Bathroom smelled funky. Great location. Lovely reception staff.

my room had great facilities- shower was great and bed was very comfy. however it is listed as having soundproof rooms, which is most definitely a lie as you could hear people in the rooms nearby talking, running the tap, having a shower etc… not nice in the middle of the night. the services were also not great as the housekeepers would randomly knock without stating they were coming to service your room and everytime i said “hello” they would leave- had to go to reception to get toilet roll and clean towels 3 times over my 5 day stay. otherwise the room is a great place to rest your head- as i just used mine as a place to sleep and shower as i went to reading festival for the weekend.

Compared to my recent stay this one was spoilt by other guest coming back in the early HRs Saturday morning, first time i was woken up was 01.40 then around 3am just got back to sleep only to be once again woken up around 3.30am on all occasions it was very loud females wanting to chat in the corridor so much for sound proof rooms. Funny enough Saturday/Sunday morning very quiet, my other problem was no TV reported it Saturday morning but couldn't get it to work Saturday nite reported once again on leaving Sunday morning.

Stayed before. Air conditioning now only gives out heat due to the “time of the year” even though it’s 19c outside and 300c in the room. Tap in bathroom has no water pressure. Tall male at reception had no care, no customer service and refused a fan and according to the lady the following morning at checkout said they have lots of fans.

Both nights that I slept in the hotel, the TV turned on automatically while I was sleeping. I checked and there was no alarm set on the TV. It turned on to a bright white screen with instructions to share my screen to watch from my phone to the TV.

Stayed two different nights in one week and had issues in each room. First night the tap was loose fitting and moved each time you changed temperature. The air con wouldn’t cool the room so had to keep window open which was noisy. The second night after unpacking we found the tv wasn’t working. This is the second time this has happened. Got moved to a new room where the shower sits in the holder, it wasn’t tight so the shower head was not at the right angle and only pointed down so had to be held to have a shower. The area around the base of the tap was dirty/mouldy. All rooms we were in looked tired and needed a refresh and bit of maintenance. The best thing about the hotel is the location.

Issues with room. Moved room, then issues with second room. Offered a complimentary breakfast which was mediocre at best. Couldn’t fault the staff. All polite and helpful.

Great staff at reception, accommodating and friendly, after a long delayed journey on a Bank Holiday Easter Sunday. Was able to retrieve quickly my online check-in and my two separate reservations for consecutive days. Visible improvements under the new management, with small but valuable ideas and consistency. Keep up the good job in this competitive market and the area.

As I arrived at the Ibis, they were welcoming. Their greeting was flawless. The service was amazing. Any questions that I’ll ask it would be answered. The staff is amazing. Breakfast was really good. The women that were doing the breakfast were amazing. I would definitely recommend this hotel and I would stay here as well.

Miserable customer service, rooms okay but other guests noisey. Asked for twin rooms, but 2 x beds next to each other is not a twin! However, met the aim of somewhere safe and clean to stay, but will think twice if booking again.

Easy on-line check-in, friendly greeting by reception staff, spacious and comfortable bed and ideal bathroom facilities. Excellent breakfast, and more friendly service from the breakfast room ‘host’; a far better experience than many ‘superior’ hotels we’ve stayed at. Hotel well-situated for shops, restaurant, bars and public transport.

I stayed for 4 nights and from the 1st day I had to go down to the reception to get my room keycard reloaded as it stopped working. I was told at reception that it was probably due to me having my keycard too close to my mobile phone! I told her that my mobile was in my front left pocket and my keycard in my back right pocket so it couldn’t be that. So basically the receptionist was blaming me for the keycard not working. This then happened again on every day of my stay. Each time the receptionists came out with the same reason! This tells me that this excuse is scripted and that they frequently have guests who need their keycards reloaded. Here’s an idea - get a better keycard that actually works!! My 2nd complaint is about the lifts. When I arrived only one lift was working! There was a queue for the lift and when the lift arrived it was full of the cleaning staff with their bedding trollies! It took about 10–15 mins to actually get from reception to my room! Again during the next 4 days it was a nightmare waiting for a lift that wasn’t full of cleaning staff or guests trying to get back down to reception or breakfast. When I asked one of the staff how long the broken lift had been out of order I was told just over 2 weeks! So Ibis don’t really care about the guests or are totally oblivious to good customer care! If they were then the broken lift would be a very high priority!

This hotel is one step above a hostel. It was clean, but stark and minimalist. The elevators are inadequate and often resulted in frustratingly long waiting. The breakfast was good. It is well located to see downtown sights. It was hard to find. We went past the narrow shopfront entrance twice before we figured it out. Generally the staff seemed distant and disinterested.

Good experience. Staff friendly service excellent. Ideal position few minutes walk from train station and a few minutes walk in to the main shopping centre. Pity our room looked out on a building site and being on the 8th floor we could still hear street noise at night. It didn’t spoil our stay as we found Reading a nice place to stay.

Very convenient & central to trains/ restaurants etc. a Although no car parking on site, hotel has good discounted car parking nearby- but not so easy to find if you are unfamiliar with area. Pleased to have good double glazing against the raucous noise from revellers that goes on into early hours of the morning. Reception staff most helpful.
