I'd recommend getting an EV charger supplier that doesn't require payment on top of the hotel bill. A very slow charger is not worth it and having a fast charger would make you more of a destination and generate more business over time.

Was perfect with our two puppies. It was good to have yard but they do need a little love. Some yards had weeds knee high. The room was not up market but bed was very comfortable and we could relax with the dogs . Room was well suited for dogs good size . Was lovely to be able to take dogs to dinner in lounge area and outside in the bistro area.

The family rooms (loft) are a great option especially the pet friendly rooms if you can secure them. The property shows it age but it adds to the history of the place when it was known as Olin’s hotel. Easily accessible from the highway and airport etc and walking distance to civic. I would’ve appreciated being notified about prebooking the parking as the daily rate is $28/day instead of $15/day if rebooked. There are two EV charging bays (Exploren) in the secured parking lot but non-EV drivers tend to use it. It could be managed better by staff as they have the car owner details but they are not always able to get hold of the drivers to move the vehicle. I raised this concern on checkout but it’s clear it’s not a priority for them which is disappointing.

The property is old and I expected that as it’s been a Canberra gem for ages. However, I expected much comfier beds for a Mercure. I’ve stayed at quite a few Mercure’s and this has been the worst bed of all. I was hoping going with this brand name would mean comfy facilities even though it’s an old building. There’s also no lift, so be careful if you have accessibility issue.

Great location. Friendly staff. Comfortable, well appointed room. The building & grounds have potential to be wonderful. They are slowly getting there, but more decorating with potted plants, umbrellas in the courtyard and softened lounging areas would be great additions. Bistro food was great & very handy on site.

Room allocated to us was super noisy- anyone walking around can be heard, even when the door was shut. The cleaning left a lot to be desired- we found a power plug cover on the ground on arrival and when there were still bug carcasses on the wall. The carpark had double charged me, and when I raised this as an issue, I still have not heard back and it’s been over a fortnight

Well appointed, clean spacious room with a comfortable bed and great room darkening curtains. Unfortunately though the courtyard to the room was unkempt at best there were smears of dog Pooh on the pavers. The dog in the room next to me barked at 2am then again at 6am. These rooms are advertised as being pet friendly and soundproof unfortunately the soundproof is not accurate. I could hear my neighbours and movement in the hallway quite clearly. The room service was greatly appreciated as was the lovely styled room that was in keeping with the buildings history. With just a little more maintenance of the courtyard and honesty in advertising u would have given a 5 star review. I loved having an outdoor area for my dog to go out to and not have to be wondering around in the night outside. Please keep up the pet friendly rooms we will be back for sure.b

Great to have an old building being used to its fullest potential. Courtyard looks amazing . Room was clean , linen was fresh , room was comfortable and good size . While there is approx 15-20 free parking spots unsecured at the front it's $28 to use their rear secured car park . The $28 extra parking fee would be a reason for me to find a hotel without a parking fee. It was 3 adults and 3 rooms . All 3 rooms were good . The breakfast only concern was when you pick up a plate to use that's been through the dish washer and it still has food remnants on its and juice glasses were similar .

There was no hot water for my shower before I went out for dinner. The carpet in the room was wet. The Television in the room did not work, it worked in the morning when we left the premises. The person on the front desk answer was all the televisions were not working. I will get maintenance to sort out the hot water. We certainly will not go back there.

The main light flickered after being on for 3min. The conditioner bottle in bathroom was broken and did not dispense conditioner. The air conditioner was noisy and had to be turned off so we could sleep.

Room was approx $400 per night. When we arrived we were told to pay another $15 per day for parking or park on the street. I questioned why paying for parking wasn’t an option when booking the room. Desk clerk advised Wotif is an “American third party and we don’t know what they offer”. The restaurant includes large screen coverage of horse racing and off track betting and clients who are there to bet and drink. The food was “pub fare” and over cooked. Minimal service offered. Bar staff sneezed on glasses and said she has hayfever. Room was comfortable although air conditioner was noisy. I thought it was a car alarm outside. A card was left in the room from the previous guest thanking them and gifting a bottle of wine. Housekeeping was hit and miss. The hotel is not located close to any restaurants, shops etc so reliant on TV for entertainment. Free to air channels the only option with a picture that repeatedly pixelated. Wifi was slow at best and repeatedly dropped out. At $400 per night we left feeling we had been ripped off. I can only suggest booking elsewhere. This place was awful.

Fabulous hotel; we always stay at the Mercure whenever we’re visiting our son, who once lived permanently in Canberra, but now he has secondments there. The Loft room is awesome; spacious and so nicely equipped with a kitchenette and downstairs living space. Breakfast we did not partake in, this time. However, it is always lovely and expansive, and the omelettes are gorgeous, cooked by a very talented female Sri Lankan 🇱🇰 chef @ 2024. A bottle shop downstairs enables us to enjoy a bottle of wine. Highly recommended - super close to the Canberra Centre shopping precinct and Lonsdale street wine bars and beautiful restaurants, as well as the magnificent War Memorial (walking distance) and Anzac Parade. Easy Uber ride to Parliament House and the hike up Mt. Ainslie is extremely close by 😊😊

It is an old building, where the wall are very thin and non noise insulated... All the noise from the other rooms and hall were as it was inside... I could even listen the gentleman snoring in the room beside nime... Luckily I do not care...

The room was clean but showing its age. The bathroom was very small & quite a tight area to negotiate - especially getting into & out of the shower. The bed was uncomfortably firm. Unfortunately, the blinds didn’t block out the light well & there was a lot of noise coming from outside as well as from the store room next to the room.

Unfortunate occurrence of a fire alarm at 10:30pm however communication from staff non-existent until one staff announced that “clients can now return to their rooms” after a 30 minute wait. Not guests of the hotel? Old fixtures and fittings.

It was a terrible night and could not sleep well as we had to evacuate two times around 4 am and 4:30 am for the false fire alarms. Staffs should explain why it happened and apologise about false alarms before we ask about it.

*Disappointing Experience at Mercure* I recently booked a package tour through Expedia, including return flights from Brisbane. Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend this package as it didn't include breakfast, despite being similarly priced to regular bookings. We paid extra for breakfast, but were underwhelmed by the experience. The breakfast room was overcrowded, with limited options and unclean tables. It seemed like Mercure had compromised on breakfast quality for package deals. On the other hand, dinner at the in-house restaurant was reasonably good and affordably priced. The hotel room itself needed upgrading, particularly the electrical outlets, which were inadequate for charging phones or CPAP machines near the bedside. However, we liked the room layout and large windows offering a view of the surrounding trees. Additional parking costs $24 per night, although the hotel offers a deal for $15 daily. There are also off-road parking options and limited spaces near the front door. One highlight was walking to the war memorial at night, which was a pleasant experience. While the staff were friendly during check-in, they seemed overwhelmed in explaining essential information about room location, parking, and dining areas. The upgraded bathroom was a plus, but the electrical outlet was still inaccessible, and the sliding door was tricky to operate. The small closet space was a redeeming feature, perfect for storing luggage.

Room was quaint as it's a heritage listing. Was not impressed with buffet breakfast on our 1st morning. The hash browns, tomatoes, bacon were cold & the scrambled eggs were just warm. Not much choice of fruits or yoghurts. 2nd morning breakfast things were a fraction warmer but chose poached eggs which had eggshell in it. Also the diinners served in the bar area were also average
