Tilt Hotel Universal-Hollywood, an AGA Collection Hotel

I specifically chose this hotel for the indoor pool. The water was disgusting and it smelled really bad. We were not able to get in the pool at all. The only time i needed something i asked front desk if they can bring towells to my room they said they would and didnt bought them. Front desk dont answer the phone when calling from the room.

I stayed here because of the indoor pool and it was not open because broken

The hotel was fine for our family trip to Universal Studios. The elevator did not work and the pool was not open, as it needed cleaned. We weren’t there much, so it didn’t matter.

Nice hotel but, to pay for parking at a hotel you just paid to stay in is ridicules!

The property itself is older and definitely shows its age. It smelled like someone smoking pot outside, but the hallway and rooms have a heavy perfume smell that was VERY strong. There was someone dumpster diving in the property's dumpster, and nobody seemed to care. Parking is stacked 2 deep, so the blocking vehicle needs to leave their keys at the front office so they can move your car as needed. The hotel is located next to a freeway, so there is a lot of vehicle noise - that can't be helped, but if you're a light sleeper, you might want ear plugs or some form of white noise.

Toilet was fickle, toilet ran all night if i didnt fiddle with the handle. Window wouldnt close all the way so it was slightly noisy. Tandem parking was not ideal, i had to ask the front desk to get ahold of the owner that was blocking my car because they didnt leave their keys at the front counter. I would have had to ask the front desk to move the vehicle anyway but since they didnt have the keys, it created a further delay for my day to start. The pool had a window that faced the garage parking lot so people would stand & watch, kind of creepy. Simple window coverings would help. Most outlets in the bedroom did not work, a little annoying i couldnt charge my phone near my bed. Breakfast bags werent readily available, i had to ask the front desk every morning for a breakfast bag like i was going to steal extra or something.

Toilet was backed up and then the elevator was down all morning.

Towels were dirty and bloodstained. Roaches found in the room. When I spoke to the front desk about these things, it was blown off.

Nice hotel. It’s only a six minute drive from Universal studios. No issues with check in or finding the room. Room had a microwave and fridge. The concierge sends you a text that you can use if you need anything. I texted for more towels and he brought them right away. Nice hotel for families. My kids had no issues either.

Extremely clean rooms, updated furniture. Very nice and almost upscale for an amazing price.

Room wasn't clean. Soap and shampoo dispensers in the shower were empty. Room smelled increadbly strong of cheap cleaner when we arrived but at least they didn't clean our room at all throughout or stay.... Dingy vibe but it is close ish to universal

The room felt neglected as the shower would run out of hot water pretty quickly which made it difficult to finish showering without freezing. There was a light from outside the hotel pointed straight at one of my windows and the curtain/shudders did not block it out completely. The sound proofing is poor and I could hear people out in the hallway making a ruckus throughout the entire night, which interrupted my sleep. And lastly there were mysterious floor leaks/puddles that would form out of nowhere between some of the floor boards in the room. Overall it's exactly what you would expect from a 1-2 star hotel, but it was labeled as a 2-3 star hotel. Definitely not staying here again and wouldn't recommend it.

The hotel appears pretty nice upon check in but the moment we got off of our elevator to our room the entire second floor stinks. We walked in our room and the smell of mold/mildew was so bad that my husband and I both had headaches by morning. I asked housekeeping if they could fix it but they told me that’s just how it always smells. It was so bad we were unable to enjoy our day at universal studios because we both had headaches. We ended up checking out after the first night and paying for a room at a different hotel. The bed was also stained with what appeared to be urine stains on it. We paid $547 for two nights to stay in this awful hotel and they refunded $241. It’s not worth being close to Universal Studios if you can’t even enjoy it because the room makes you sick.

the first room i had had blood on the wall so they moved us to another room that was just as nasty just no blood on the wall. The photos of the room look good but it’s not the same

This place was disgusting we found leftover food that was not ours in the microwave, the floors was dirty in the room crumbs everywhere but the most disgusting thing was my 11 year old daughter found a dirty underwear behind the red chair in the corner that did not belong to us. This is the first and last time we would stay there plus will tell family and friends not to stay at this hotel!!!

The stay was awful. The hotel had an over powering fragrance smell. Once in the elevator, all you can smell is mildew and mold. We had two rooms for several nights. Several times only one room was cleaned. One time, only part of the room was cleaned. The room still had belongings from a previous person. The bathroom had mold. The mattress smelled like urine. Overall, it was a horrible stay.

My daughter and I stayed here for our trip to Universal studios. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The staff was very pleasant and welcoming. We were close enough to walk to Universal but chose to drive over since we didn't want to walk back at the end of the day. Parking is not free but was worth the cost to not have to find parking elsewhere. I would, without a doubt, stay here again.

Room was HUGE with fridge, coffee maker and microwave. The bed was comfortable and pillows were fine. Very clean. The check in was easy. The hotel allowed us to park early even though the room wasn’t ready (10:30 anm) and we walked to universal CityWalk. We were still too early for check in after lunch but the room was ready and they let us have it early (13:00) Second night the guests next door had the tv on ALL night and you could hear it through the walls. Try to avoid room 227 if you like to sleep past 08:00 as it across the hall from the employee break room and they sit in there talking loudly. Location was great for going to Universal Studios without moving the car.

The location was ideal for universal. However, it was very noisy. Whoever was on the floor above us were walking around, stomping, dropping things throughout the entire night both nights of our stay. I barely slept the first night due to this. There’s no carpeted flooring to help dilute some of the noise so I’m sure that contributed.

This hotel is pretty small. We booked it because it's within walking distance to Universal. Each area has a different smell(Lobby, Hallways, Room). I didn't mind, but my family didn't like it. Once on our floor, there was little torn up pieces of paper and some minor trash on the carpet outside our room. When we came back the next day, 80% of it was picked up. Was kinda odd it didn't all get cleaned up. The room was decent. Half the plugs/outlets didn't work. Luckily I bring a power strip to assist. The beds felt comfy at first, then waking with back pain was fun. haha You can hear people walking around above you all night. Which was kind of odd that you would hear it at random late hours. 12a to 3-4a. We stayed for day. The room/beds were made the first day. But nothing on Saturday. I'm sure there's fine print somewhere stating you have to request it on the weekends. Only wish I knew that as we threw our towels on the floor and didn't have any fresh towels the next day. =( I feel the hotel isn't really worth the $1000 for 3 days, plus the parking fee. Not sure why most CA hotels charge for parking now days when they're already getting a hefty price for the room. It would be cool to see a breakfast included. The elevator is a little sketch too. I'm a big guy, so when it dips down a couple inches when entering, it's a little worry-some. Because I don't want to be stuck in there and it makes some weird noises. Internet was splotchy during peak times as expected.

It’s a good location for people visiting Universal Studios, as it is a 20 minute walk. The staff was fine, not super friendly but they were helpful. The pool is very small, in a closed off room. Reeked of chlorine. It’s there if you really want to swim. The most annoying thing was almost none of the outlets in my room were working, which made charging my family’s devices difficult. The kids enjoyed the free juice in the lobby.

Traffic was loud and the couple in the room next to us kept us awake from 1230-4am.

The rooms and furniture in the rooms were showing lots of wear. Lots of rust on fixtures and furniture that needed updating. The hall had a large bleach spot. Overall would absolutely stay again in hopes some items get renovated.

The bed was comfortable and it's close to Universal. Otherwise, nothing special. Heavy perfumed scent in the lobby and halls, which was pretty overwhelming. They didn't offer any kind of breakfast, not even coffee on the lobby. There was also a loud ticking noise in the walls all night. The pizza joint across the street was pretty good though.

Water drainage: The shower drains extremely slowly, making it unpleasant to use. Unauthorized room service: Our room was serviced without permission or request. Personal belongings were moved, yet the trash from the prior day was left untouched. Beds were made, but extra towels (placed for a water leak) were taken, resulting in water spreading into the adjoining room. Toilet malfunction: Upon returning, the toilet was clogged. Upon informing the front desk a plunger was provided, however I plunged the toilet, so it would be operational, and for adults would not have to share a bathroom for the night. Maintenance unavailability: We were told no maintenance is available on weekends, leaving reported issues unresolved. Telephone inoperable: The in-room phone does not function, requiring us to physically walk to the front desk after unanswered calls. Front desk responsiveness: Calls to the front desk went unanswered after multiple rings, which is unacceptable for a hotel of this standard. Noisy environment: The neighboring rooms have been disruptive, adding to an already frustrating experience. Electrical issues: The outlets in the bedside lamps in both rooms are non-functional, creating both an inconvenience and a safety concern. Altogether, these issues have caused significant disruption during what should have been a celebratory and memorable occasion for my family. Im still waiting gor the manager to teach out.

Waited half an hour for someone to show up to check us in. Once checked in, was given a key to a room that someone was already staying in. When going back down to the desk, they said they were the only person there and we would have to wait until they checked in the other 15 people who had been waiting with us before they could help us. After an hour, they were still checking people in. Had to get ready in our vehicle to avoid missing reservations. Staff didn’t seem to care. Also, parking costs $25 per night. Small parking lot, not secured.

It was great for location and convenience. Hotel was overbooked so people in our party had to find a last minute room elsewhere.

Kaja was amazing, he made checking in simple and easy. He is very kind and even tho we checked in early he was very helpful. For a last min I mean the same day reservation it was not stressful here, checking in was easy.

Only reason for less stars is after check in I did not get any info on breakfast times or WiFi and forgot to ask. Called the front desk a few times and never got anyone to answer. Was already in my pajamas and didn’t want to walk back down.

Walking distance to Universal Studios and it’s attached City Walk, giving lots of great dining and shopping options. Useful to escape the heat and crowds of the theme park and head back after dinner as the crowds thin. Nearby great French bakery. Not the best part of town however, so walk a little scary at night. Sidewalk on the hotel side of the street has rough patches, stroller stuck multiple times. Sidewalk across the street in much better shape. Hotel room was clean and quiet. Amenities other than room were very poor. Hallways were dirty and stank of cannibus, pool was clean but freezing cold, very limited market options on site, parking limited. Cleaning staff was courteous. Residents of surrounding area were able to slip past elevator security adding to smells of alcohol and pot in the halls.

Fantastic location if you are going to universal. Very central for Hollywood Boulevard, rodeo drive and also driving distance to Santa Monica pier

The friendliest staff!!! Everything was clean and comfortable. We had a lovely, short stay there and walked to universal both days it’s an easy walk though uphill one way it only takes about 20 min.

Location, location, location! Was very quick and easy to get to all main attractions of Hollywood. The room was nice and clean. Quiet area. Parking wasn’t the best but we didn’t have an issue.

This hotel is walking distance to Universal Studios, however it is uphill, which had us taking an Uber the second day. Clean room, friendly staff. Highly recommend the sports bar (all ages) General Admission and the pizza place across the street for food. Both are easy walks.

Excellent customer service. Good location near restaurants and freeway. Took us only 15 min to walk to universal city. The only Critique I’d like to make is the powerful air freshener smell in the hotel hallways, luckily it wasn’t powerful in the rooms, just throughout the rest of the hotel. It wasn’t a bad smell it was just super strong, so if an air freshener can be unplugged that would be great.

Good location. Friendly staff. However road facing rooms have to deal with noise from very busy road.

Walking distance from universal theme park prices a lot better than the other hotels close by a real gem staff excellent warm friendly nothing to much trouble

A clean and well maintained hotel. Provided us clean towels daily and made our beds. Only wish they had breakfast service and a gym for us to to use during our stay. Friendly staff, though!

Nice and clean hotel. Spacious room. Close to Universal. They don’t have free breakfast but they have free coffe,juice and tea anytime of the day.

Stayed 2 nights at the hotel while in LA, mainly to visit Universal Studios. It was right off a highway, which was convenient for driving to restaurants and other stops. We did not walk to Universal, but chose to drive. It would have felt like a very long walk on the way back, so that was the right choice. In the reviews I read they had free breakfast, but that is not offered, although there is an area where it obviously once was offered. The hotel seems dated, but also has a funky/cool vibe, so it was mostly OK. The pool area could use a refresh. And there were no towels, so when we asked, the front desk clerk said we had to bring them from our room. But the next night we saw people swimming, and they clearly had hotel pool towels. Who knows… Parking is wonky, but OK. Not worth the $25/night I would argue. Overall, for LA, the price seemed fair, and the room was decent. No complaints and would generally recommend it. Not much to do right in the area, so if you want a hotel with lots around to walk to and see, this would not be for you.

Property is more so a motel. It is advertised differently than it is in reality.

Small no breakfast serve

Walking distance from Universal Studios. Staff almost charged me twice duringcheck-in. I had to correct her mistake and show her my email receipt and she was still saying that it wasn't a receipt until she noticed that she was looking at the wrong customer name. Our room wasn't serviced daily. The continental breakfast wasn't to our expectations.

Was good over all. Cons $30 parking it would of being ok if I was notified ahead of time. Weird smell on the elevator, no breakfast which was not a big deal but advertised online, and kind of dirty hallway. Pros Clean room and comfortable beds.

Please be aware that they actually DO NOT have a continental breakfast even though they advertise it. They even mention what is in the continental breakfast in their welcome email. But all they have is gross coffee and juice with black clumps in it. Expedia has been trying to reach the manager to get some of our money refunded as we had six people and three breakfasts that we then had to buy instead of having it included in the hotel. But so far the manager has been “unavailable”. I will update this review once we hear from the manager.

The Tilt hotel is a great place to stay, especially if you’re going to Universal Studios! It is so close you could walk. The price was very reasonable compared to others around it. They have onsite parking which is nice, although they do charge $25 dollars/day. Breakfast is included which is nice, although the options are very limited ( coffee, juice, cereal, bagels, prepackaged muffins and fruit). The room was nice and spacious, and everything looked clean. The water pressure is great! The beds were a little soft for my liking, but were still comfortable. The Pillows, some were a bit lumpy, a couple were fine. Overall this was one of the best hotels I have stayed at in California. Will definitely stay there again!
