Hotel Triton Union Square San Francisco

Nice boutique type hotel in a centrally located area. Rooms are super small and their website and valet signage is not accurate. Good breakfast options and front desk was able to provide good food suggestions.

Really good location to be able to walk to restaurants/bars/tourist things. The valet took away the stress of having to find parking which was nice. Free wine every day 4-6 is a great perk, however the breakfast is more grab and go rather than a full breakfast. Everything was clean but you can tell that you’re staying in an older building for sure. We would definitely stay here again but don’t expect a luxurious, 5 star hotel.

Nice hotel in good location for me with nice amenities like wine, grab and go breakfast even a bonus cocktail. Basic price was very good but the resort fee was high. A loud alarm went off in a room nearby and continued for about at hour disrupting sleep badly. When I went to the lobby to report it, the desk clerk said “I know, the manager had been notified and will be here in the morning.” implying it would keep going all night and she and the manager didn’t care. She would not give me another room so it was very upsetting. It was fixed about an hour after it started but it left bad feelings in what would otherwise have been a nice stay. Hint: the valet parking is very expensive but the Stockton garage is only a half block away.

The rooms on the street were noisy but tolerable. The (grab and go) breakfast was strange, the hotel had a strong perfume smell, hotel was musty, our Deluxe King Room was much smaller than a cruise ship cabin. The valet service was awesome. The free drinks were a can of sparkling water. I’d give it a 7 rating. .

Great location, close to China Town. Continental breakfast included. Happy hour from 4pm to 6pm incl. free of charge drinks. Filtered water and ice in general for free.

Great location 42 parking garage with 24 hr attendant. Great staff my dogs loved it park around the corner for dogs . Showers need renovation that was only compaint if there was one. Excellent stay definitely going back they also offer free happy hour drinks if you drink we do not. But they have that option and 5.00 free grab bags

Older place with small rooms, but comfortable. Centrally located and generally quiet. View was internal to other hotel rooms, but meant it was probably quieter. Lots of local shops nearby to eat breakfast/lunch/dinner. Happy hour drinks each afternoon.

The room was clean with nice amenities. I took advantage of the continental breakfast (mostly just muffins, bagels, fruit, and coffee) and happy hour which was a nice perk with quite a selection. The staff was very friendly and the location was fantastic! I do agree with another reviewer that the shower door design could be better because water gets all over the floor. I wish I had time to hit the fitness center. Overall I would stay again!

Hotel was safe, quiet, staff was polite and helpful. Public parking is close. Breakfast is simple but reasonable.

Our stay here was great. The location is perfect for walking to nearby restaurants and easy spot to pick up ride shares. Our room was clean and comfortable and the front desk waa always friendly and professional. As noted, the breakfast is continental and your morning coffee is in the lobby. We used the fitness center and for the size it is decently equipped although bleak as it's in the basement. Overall I would recommend Hotel Triton and would stay here again.

Very cool hotel. The staff was wonderful. We got upgraded since we asked for early check in and they made the process super easy. Great location right by Chinatown. The only things to consider are that because is so central there's some noise from the traffic. Also since the building is an old construction it has that old building smell despite renovation efforts. You can also hear a lot of the noise from your neighbors so hopefully you get some quiet, respectful people like we did for the most part

2nd time staying - it's ok. Room smells a little. Location is great. A little pricey for what you get. Grab and Go breakfast is basically just 2 types of pastries and instant coffee / juice. Don't have your hopes up.

We were happy with the location, elevators and lobby decor. The bed was comfortable and we liked the opportunity to have breakfast and happy hour included. The included continental breakfast did not have decaf coffee nor butter available. The biggest concern though was the shower which had only a half glass door and the water consistently flooded the bathroom floor, which was marble and became VERY slippery. We noticed a mildew smell when we entered the room and the bottom of the bathroom door was actually rotted. When we spoke to the front desk, they said this was the “modern way” to enclose a shower. It was room 701. We needed to use the bathroom door and towels to block the flow of water onto the rest of the bathroom floor. It was very uncomfortable.

Not sure the light in toilet and room entrance were with sensor or not. We just thought that with sensor. It’s automatically off, however, it’s automatically switch on and off several times. Also with sound that seemed someone pressing it. The heater in room was too noisy and u could not easy to get into sleep. The vent on top of toilet was full of dust and the dust ball was keeping onto the toilet and floor. It’s disgusting as like ash! So awful! Even window were not for open, the sound from outside Homeless guy was really disturbing!! We did leave after 2 days though we booked it for 4 nights and paid. We didn’t talk to the lobby reception for the issues happened, or not expecting for change of room. We believe the entire hotel got too old. It’s horrible to stay for 2 nights already….so scary.

The staff was extremely understanding when I advised them that there was a rodent in my room. I was promptly moved rooms when I informed the front desk at almost 1 am on May 23. However, I've since reached out to speak with a manager and have never received a response. The hotel has a rodent problem, yet it's clearly not serious enough to follow up with a guest. Management seems like it need to get cleaned out and replaced because the rest of the staff seemed to understand my frustration.

Location Very small bathroom and space tight for 2 suitcases

Bed was hard, AC would shut off randomly at night. Woke sore and sweating multiple times a night. Shower curtain had multiple inches of clearance off the ground, soaking the ground and making the smooth bathroom tile dangerously slick. Convenient location for everything I needed and a generous happy hour in the lobby. I wouldn’t stay there again though.

Room had an “in window” old school ac unit that didn’t work. Room was overly warm and not comfortable. Had to open the window to the street (noisy).

The Hotel Triton’s location is stellar. Rooms are very small and the beds are not as lush/comfortable as a Westin or W, but for a city hotel it is fine. Bathrooms are tiny with basic amenities. Rooms have basic coffee makers and should be upgraded to Nespressos asap! Plenty of food and coffee options close by, though. Front desk staff is attentive, helpful, and friendly.

The fisrt romm was interior facing and claustrophobic. For $20 i moved to a nicer corenr room, which was OK. It's an old building. THe areaw is very nice. staff was nice.

The room was tiny, which wouldn't have been such an issue if there'd been any kind of window with a view of something other than the backside of other rooms. The location rocks, but I won't stay here again unless they guarantee I'll have a much better room.

The room was cute, clean, but small. No chair or desk. The small refrigerator barely cooled. The air conditioner worked sporadically. There was no daily cleaning, not that we needed the sheets or towels changed every day but we were there for over a week and we had to ask for our trash to be taken out, ask for toilet paper, ask for kleenex, which all were quickly remedied. There is no place to hang a hand towel which is just odd bit that goes to the overall room set up.

Great location. BUT: Very small dated room, badly chipped bath tub. No shower curtain provided. Only 2 towels for 4 people. TV needs to be paid for. Breakfast only until 9am! Gym room uninvited. Overall hotel felt like a 2 stars hotel.

We thought that we had picked a room with at least a sitting chair so that one of us at least could read. Not so. We had to read and use the computer while sitting on the bed. Never again.

Lovely hotel with excellent staff who were very helpful. Found the breakfast experience a little odd that you are crammed in a small room with 3 round tables that seat 8 or so per table. Im normality a friendly guy who talks to anyone but the 3 days i user it everyone ignored everyone else. Not an experience i would like to repeat really. Otherwise great hotel noanyone the 3 timeised

All of the staff were so friendly and helpful at all times. Morning noon and night. We asked for a late checkout and was accommodated immediately. Having the French restaurant right there was a bonus. Loved every minute of our stay

First things first, this is not a 4* hotel (no tea/coffee facilities in the rooms and you have to request housekeeping 24 hours in advance). All the staff we encountered were lovely and made great recommendations - they even comp upgraded us for our honeymoon. Pay a visit to Roxanne Cafe, just 2 blocks away as they serve a great breakfast. We did this twice and the carb-heavy options from the hotel (muffins, croissants, bagels, whole fruits and juices accompanied urns of coffee & hot water) were too much for us 4 days in a row. Strange decor in ‘the study’ where this is served, seems this room was missed off the renovations 4 years ago! Our bedroom was cosy but adequate, the bed was huge! Blackout blinds & curtains kept the light out and we had a great city view. We slept very well all 4 nights. A standard 12pm checkout is also generous for a city hotel and we greatly appreciated this. Happy hour - a nice touch but there’s a catch…you have to pay an ‘urban amenity fee.’ The hotel claim this is advertised on all booking sites (which checking Expedia it’s listed as a ‘resort fee’), however they then use posters in the lift saying ‘complimentary happy hour’ or ‘complimentary breakfast.’ It’s not complimentary if you’re paying $42 a day for it! We did argue this on checkout and they kindly reduced the charge to 2 nights, rather than 4. I also wasn’t happy paying this as they tried to claim it as tax, to which I laughed and said no it’s not! 2 nights was better than 4 tho.

The staff member at the front desk was rude and combative when we were trying to check in. Also, the shower would drip at night while also having the metal sleeve falling off. Urban amenity fee is ridiculous and should be included in the cost of the stay and not a separate fee especially since the “amenities” it covered are standard hotel accommodations. Getting over $100 in fees upon arrival is the reason I won’t be coming back to experience.

Been a while since I stayed here. Has maintained standards and would definitely stay again. Easily walkable to Chinatown and Union Square. Quick ride to Fishermans Wharf. Close to many nice restaurants.

Hotel is located close to several shops and restaurants, including the fantastic Cafe de la Presse and Amorino Gelato right next door, where discounts are offered for guests staying at the Hotel Triton. Booked room and communal facilities were clean and well-maintained. Staff were professional, courteous, and happy to give recommendations on local sightseeing and eating spots.

We had a fine stay at Hotel Triton. It was a nice walking distance to the bus station, and a quick bus ride to the main tourist attractions by the wharf. The room was very small, but clean. The beds were actually full size, rather than the queen size that they advertised. They had water and ice on different floors, which made for a lot of elevator traveling. The tissues were very rough, so you may want to bring your own. The breakfast was basic muffins and croissants with very little seating. We took food back to our room. Note that there are separate fees for parking and a "resort fee." The parking is secure and close, but expensive. Overall, we enjoyed our stay but some things could be improved.

Rooms were small, but nicely decorated. I guess that is what is expected from SF. The free breakfast was really quite sad though. It was frozen waffles and some little muffins in a tiny room.

This boutique hotel is located close to Chinatown. It is not far from Union Square as well. The continental breakfast featured freshly baked bagels and croissants along with fresh fruits and other bread selections. Coffee and tea was available not only for breakfast but throughout the day. There was a happy hour from 4 to 6 pm where the hotel offered free wine, beer and various canned drinks. The rooms were clean. They were on the smaller side but still very nice. Overall, we enjoyed our stay here and would highly recommend it to others.

Great little hotel. Close to union square, Chinatown, etc. . Although they say they provide breakfast, it’s really just coffee and some muffins. Nonetheless, will stay again and have a 10%off breakfast next door at a great French place😊

I hope you're an early riser - cause they don't restock the breakfast. Came down at 8:45 am to find everything gone, asked the front desk and they said they'd bring some more up, but never bothered. It's not a huge thing, but kind of soured my stay there. If you pay for breakfast, and you show up during breakfast hours, seems reasonable to expect to get some breakfast.

The biggest problem we experienced was that the toilet didn’t work the night we checked in. There was no water in the tank. It looked like there was no water pressure to the 7th floor. Secondly, the breakfast room has only two tables in a crammed small room. So there was no place to sit, once you have a few guests in there already. The food items were a few not-so-fresh pastries types, possibly from Costco. We ended up not having anything and left. When we booked our hotels, we specifically searched for ones with the breakfast option. We felt we’ve been cheated in this case. Third, there was a $43 resort fee, but there were no amenities. Valet parking for SUV was quoted for $85, which we didn’t use. Overall, it’s quite a disappointing experience.
