I stayed here Fri night-Sun morning with my children aged 10, 17, and 19. Pros: -Front desk super friendly, helpful, and always available, check in/out super quick and convenient -Nice little gazebo area overlooking the dock and Hackensack River -Decent sized rooms for four with two double beds -washer/dryer, ice maker, soda machine -Room was clean, sheets were clean, bathroom clean -Pet friendly(not needed for my stay but will keep in mind) -Price was good -less than 5 mins to American Dream Mall(our destination for the weekend) Cons: -Dock area with gazebo full of dog poop since no one seems to clean up after their pets despite there being a doggy bags and trash cans. Also cigarette butts everywhere even though they had disposals all over. -Beds are horribly uncomfortable and pillows are flat -No WiFi or it just wouldn’t work -Carpet was either chewed up or just torn near the beds -Room was hot in February at 28 degrees outside no matter how low I put the thermostat so we had to put on the air conditioner in winter -No breakfast, snacks, or anything. Thank god for Dunkin and Wendy’s across the street -Definitely could use some updating -Outlets near beds didn’t keep a plug in them which was frustrating for the kids trying to watch their devices Overall, not bad for a motel, decently priced, slept okay once it cooled down, and my kids only complained about the WiFi. Reasonably clean hotel which is next to a nice river. Very easy parking. However the receptionist was not friendly and was not at her place when we needed an additional towel though I checked it at two different times.

We stayed here for a concert at the Metlife Stadium. Very convenient, less than a ten minute drive away. They let us check in early for free. Room was basic but clean and comfortable. Very quiet. Right next to the river. Lots of parking.

Let me preface my review by saying that I'm writing this Red Roof Inn against similar establishments, not four star hotels. PROS: Price! Amazing location. Food right across the street. Free parking. 15 minute drive into the city. Very comfortable bed. Refrigerator and safe in the room. Decent water pressure. CONS: no public transportation except first thing in the morning. We thought there was a bus close, but that was misinformation. The establishment was surface clean but grimy in the cracks and crevices. It was a 3 star motel. But if you are looking for a budget friendly way to do Manhattan this is a decent option. The drive into the city was very easy and we found a $16 a day parking lot through spot hero. The area felt a little rough but safe enough. Red Roof inn does not offer breakfast, but why would you want Motel breakfast food when you're minutes away from New York bagels? It's a three star motel with the biggest pluses being affordability and location.

Cute little hotel, simple and convenient. The theee ladies we met at the front desk during our stay were very nice and also helped us a lot with all of our questions. Our check in and check out were quick and simple and the price was one of the best prices in the area. We enjoyed our stay! There is a nice view outside at the back of the hotel. You can go sit on benches in front of the water and there is a lovely gazebo with a large table. Only downside was that the ice machine was broken and the closest elevator to the reception was also out of order. However there are others so you just have to walk a bit to the other one. We will return in the future if we ever go back to New York or New Jersey!

We had an amazing time at the red roof inn, it was nearby to the attractions that we needed to visit, i must say tho that some repairs needs to be done on the pavilion the chairs are shakiy and both table and chairs are so dirty , but we had an amazing time.

Honestly wasn't expecting much, but the room was nice enough. Didn't feel dingy, had a working fridge and microwave. Something was up with the TV but I also never asked about it either, so hard to blame anybody, didn't bother me much. There was a nice lil pavilion by the water too. Great place if you're doing MetLife/American Dream and just need a place to crash.

It was cheap and after we got there we knew why. Wasnt the cleanist and was only provided one washcloth for a two person stay. Pictures posted on site are deceiving. Bed was comfortable.

Entire room needed an overhaul. Peeling paint, stains on the walls, flickering lights that were strobe like, cobwebs in the windows. Door knob was loose. Bathroom was gross! Hair in and on the tub, cracked and stained tub floor. Woke up to find a cockroach crawling on the wall. Will never stay here again.

The whole room felt dirty and smelly. There was bright red or orange hair in the sink, I have blonde hair it was not mine. The bathroom was not swept/mopped. The towels smelt very dirty like mildew or I’m not sure. The pillow case had a blood stain. I understand the outside area is a bit more out of the control but cleaning the inside of the rooms is a very basic expectation when renting a hotel. I arrived right before my event and got back too late to find a different hotel. I’m very disappointed with the experience especially in terms of the cost.

The staff in Secaucus was really great. I had several flight cancelations after my initial stay, called last minute/middle of the night extremely upset & every shift was very accommodating, pleasant & helpful. I will definitely be staying there again the next time I'm in NYC.

Check-in was quick and friendly. The room was clean, comfortable, and quiet. My daughter and I (female) felt safe and enjoyed the stay. Picked up the bus right outside the hotel and was in NYC in no time. Would stay here again.

It was not easy to see the location of the lobby. Also, there was only one person working on a Friday afternoon. And this person kept asking the people she was checking in to wait while she talked to other people as they came into the lobby. She was very distracted and disorganized. She finally checked us in, but then called our room and asked us to come back to the lobby because she had forgotten to ask us to sign something. So, we went back to the lobby and waited to talk to her again. She started to help us. A person came in behind us and she was going to start talking to him, but I politely asked her to finish helping us before talking to someone else. We finally finished, but then we called the credit card company. They told us that there were three pending charges, and all of them were for the total amount! So, we may have to enter into dispute resolution if all three charges go through! It was one of the worst experiences we've ever had with checking into a hotel.

I know this hotel gets a lot of mixed reviews so I will try and cover all bases. First, the reception was amazing. The front desk was super helpful. There were two guys there who were warm and inviting-same for the late night woman (Spanish lady, really nice). Please note after a certain time the front desk turns into a walk-up window. There are soda and snack vending machines and an ATM as well in this area, along with a lot of traveling brochures etc. Location CANNOT BE BEAT. PERIOD. You are across the street from Dunkin, Subway, Wendy's, and a liquor store. I think a new Dim Sum place is there and a small cafe/bistro also. Buses to NYC are conveniently running through the wonderful town of Secaucus...or you can drive if the traffic is not too bad! The major roadways surround you...so your location is PERFECT. Ok, the room...we stayed in room 108. It was FAREEEEZING outside (and I'm a Jersey girl) but the cold was compounded by the winds from the Hackensack River right behind the hotel. BUT some kind soul had the HEAT already turned on in the room. It was the best ever to walk into the warmth. Ok the bed was super comfy (King sized) the room was small BUT clean and cozy. Hubby and I just wanted a night out so we weren't traveling heavy; one bag total. Sink was modern...showers a little dated but CLEAN. And NO microwave or FRIDGE sooo be prepared and bring a cooler or whatever. They gave us a courtesy late check out of 12 noon...make sure you take advantage of that!

We stayed here for a concert at the Metlife Stadium. Very convenient, less than a ten minute drive away. They let us check in early for free. Room was basic but clean and comfortable. Very quiet. Right next to the river. Lots of parking.

Let me preface my review by saying that I'm writing this Red Roof Inn against similar establishments, not four star hotels. PROS: Price! Amazing location. Food right across the street. Free parking. 15 minute drive into the city. Very comfortable bed. Refrigerator and safe in the room. Decent water pressure. CONS: no public transportation except first thing in the morning. We thought there was a bus close, but that was misinformation. The establishment was surface clean but grimy in the cracks and crevices. It was a 3 star motel. But if you are looking for a budget friendly way to do Manhattan this is a decent option. The drive into the city was very easy and we found a $16 a day parking lot through spot hero. The area felt a little rough but safe enough. Red Roof inn does not offer breakfast, but why would you want Motel breakfast food when you're minutes away from New York bagels? It's a three star motel with the biggest pluses being affordability and location.

Great location if you’re attending a football game at MetLife Stadium. It’s an old building so it’s not “fresh” looking. Room is partially renovated with flooring and newer carpet strips. Getting to your second floor room or 3rd floor is an adventure—a maze of walkways with limited stairways. But location is good: Dunkin Donuts and Subway, Burger King across the street. Easy Uber to nearby mega mall which is also the covered walking ramp to stadium. Price was right. And a nice backyard up against the Hackensack River for a good view.

We were traveling through, but wanted a 2-day rest near New York City. This place was lovely, quiet, and located along a scenic bit of the river. What's more, we discovered that an express bus can be picked up right in front of the hotel that takes roughly 30 minutes to drop you off in New York City just 2 blocks from Times Square! For a trip to the city without staying in the city itself, this was the sweet spot for us!

Honestly wasn't expecting much, but the room was nice enough. Didn't feel dingy, had a working fridge and microwave. Something was up with the TV but I also never asked about it either, so hard to blame anybody, didn't bother me much. There was a nice lil pavilion by the water too. Great place if you're doing MetLife/American Dream and just need a place to crash.

It's a nice hotel with public bus transportation to NYC close by. The office staff, Christian, was exceptionally helpful with instructions on how to use NJ public transportation. There's a Dunkin' Doughnuts and Wendy's across the street.

I stayed here Fri night-Sun morning with my children aged 10, 17, and 19. Pros: -Front desk super friendly, helpful, and always available, check in/out super quick and convenient -Nice little gazebo area overlooking the dock and Hackensack River -Decent sized rooms for four with two double beds -washer/dryer, ice maker, soda machine -Room was clean, sheets were clean, bathroom clean -Pet friendly(not needed for my stay but will keep in mind) -Price was good -less than 5 mins to American Dream Mall(our destination for the weekend) Cons: -Dock area with gazebo full of dog poop since no one seems to clean up after their pets despite there being a doggy bags and trash cans. Also cigarette butts everywhere even though they had disposals all over. -Beds are horribly uncomfortable and pillows are flat -No WiFi or it just wouldn’t work -Carpet was either chewed up or just torn near the beds -Room was hot in February at 28 degrees outside no matter how low I put the thermostat so we had to put on the air conditioner in winter -No breakfast, snacks, or anything. Thank god for Dunkin and Wendy’s across the street -Definitely could use some updating -Outlets near beds didn’t keep a plug in them which was frustrating for the kids trying to watch their devices Overall, not bad for a motel, decently priced, slept okay once it cooled down, and my kids only complained about the WiFi. I had read all the reviews so was a little sceptical about what the place would be like but actually it was lovely. I travelled with my husband and 2 children (8 & 5) and the room was big enough for us to all be comfortable. The fridge and microwave were a big plus as we were able to store food and save a little bit of money. Wendy’s, Dunkin’ donuts and subway are right across the road so that was very convenient for breakfasts. (Wendy’s isn’t open til 9am be warned!) The 129 bus stop is right outside the hotel taking you straight into Manhattan Port Authority. However it stops outside only until 9.08am so plan your day accordingly, otherwise it’s a 15 minute walk to the other bus stop. The staff were all polite and helpful and the room was clean, and beds were comfortable. We visited Manhattan over 2 days and took the bus ($4.20 per adult, $2.10 per child). We then visited the DreamWorks water park and theme park in New Jersey for 2 days, getting Ubers across, at a cost of around $10- $15 per ride so very easy and affordable. It’s not a 5 star hotel but it is more than adequate and very reasonable for the price we paid. Our family actually liked that we were a distance away from the hustle and bustle of New York City but close enough to visit and then have some quiet and tranquility at our hotel. The river behind is pretty and there’s a lovely gazebo and benches to sit on and we enjoyed having an outside space for the kids to ran around. There’s also a laundry on site.

We needed a place to sleep overnight. shower first thing in the morning and get back on the road, this Red Roof Inn PLUS was perfect. The front desk staff was very kind and helpful.
