The Q Hotel

Staff polite and attentive ,the hotel and the whole atmosphere is very stylish, the only negative are the hot tub and pool not very clean.

We had a lovely 3 night stay at the “Q” Perfect venue near the beach and a very short walk into Shanklin town. Rooms were nice and the pool and spa terrace was really nice. The couple who run the “Q” are very attentive and helpful. One small downside is the parking is not as straightforward as you would like, but it did not detract from having a great stay.

The room was clean and very comfortable. The staff were very friendly. The breakfast was very nice and the beach was only a five minute walk from the hotel. The bed was also very comfortable. I used the hot tub and the sauna and thoroughly enjoyed both. I would recommend it to my family. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

The downstairs bar and breakfast room area had money spent on it and was nice, however the bedroom was very dated and dirty, no bedside cupboard on one side- was used to put tv on it, was clearly once on the wall. Wash Sink in the bedroom-next to drinks facility! no sink in bathroom- shower tray from the 80’s and the grout on the floor was filthy. Thick dust on furniture, wallpaper bubbles everywhere, ripped and chipped paintwork, decor awfully dark and dingy, carpet dirty, cupboard under sink- thick with dust. Pool looked dirty, yellow around the edges, so didn’t go in it. Told spa could be used but had to give an hours notice to use it, so didn’t bother. Had to book time slot for breakfast - not very holiday friendly! Staff at breakfast was not customer friendly,- I asked if I could change table at breakfast due to the lights hanging over the table and being in my face, she said the table I was about to sit on was reserved ( no sign to say this) and no one used it - clearly wanted the control rather than helping paying customer. Told me where I was “allowed” to sit, dispite other customers freely walking in and sitting where they chose. Breakfast itself was nice. Wouldn’t stay again. Parking was difficult - had to find a space on the road and climb across works being completed holding onto rusty rails to the building to get into the building. £125 for one night- double room- very over priced for the disgusting room - very very disappointed. Couldn’t wait to leave.

Lovely place - interesting deco; infrared sauna, hot tub and heated outdoor swimming pool - all in great working condition; friendly staff; tasty breakfast

Had a relaxing stay, fabulous breakfast even though it was extremely busy at the hotel on the Sunday. Family run hotel with mum, dad and daughters working extremely hard as it was a hot weekend so they were very busy. Swimming pool area and outside bar area was a godsend and although hotel full you could always find a lounger or chair to put your feet up on.

Good location. Old part of the property appeared very nice, new part of the building not so. Completion of work still needed. Bar area nice. Breakfast was ok. Some days only one member of staff on duty which made service slow. Fruit juice and milk for cereals often running out and having to wait a while for refills, especially when only 1 staff member on duty. Food good when it eventually arrived. Room was on the smaller side although it didnt help that there was a huge TV in the room... too big for the room, dated TV. No doors on wardrobe. Poorly fitted carpet. Comfy bed with nice linen. Bin wasn't emptied everyday or tea/coffee and milk replenished. Shower over the bath was more a trickle than a shower, there's saving water, but it was ridiculous!!! Toilet seat moved around . We returned to the room one day to a bathroom sink filled with water and bleach and tap dripping slowly, water level almost to the top, potential of a flooded bathroom if we had not arrived back when we had. No bin or anywhere to dispose of sanitary waste. Staff were friendly. Outside was nice with a heated swimming pool. Having work done on the sauna during our stay, which was noisy at times.

The staff were very friendly. The bar area was very welcoming and encouraged guests to mingle.The bed was comfortable however the shower and toilet facilities need upgraded throughout. The gardens and pool area are of good size but need maintaining. The star attractions are the breakfast which was splendid and the location is ideal for all amenities

This hotel has very nice staff. Our room was a standard double and the window looked onto the car park. The bathroom very outdated and toilet didn’t flush well. The room had a bay window and the curtain pole was inside the bay which meant there there was a good gap each end as the curtains hung wrongly inside the bay meaning anyone could see in from outside. No bedside table to the left of the bed to put a drink/phone etc. tv in the room was far too big for the size of the room, wasn’t happy for what I had paid so asked to change room. A smaller room was found, which was clean but the sink was in the bedroom with another cinema size tv and a screen to shield the sink? The actual bathroom had a dated toilet so when you flushed it the plastic lid fell off. The shower was one of the worst I’ve seen in a hotel room, and certainly not one of the cleanest either. Both rooms were very drab and gloomy, the bed was comfy. The hotel seems to have had a makeover as there were pictures on the landing floor waiting to be hung and paint over the carpets. I’ve never stated in a hotel that did not have emergency evacuation route on the room door? This is something that shd be addressed, and extension leads for plugs were very poor quality and more plug sockets needed. I felt this room was extremely overpriced for the 3 nights we were there.

Friendly, helpful staff and a lovely clean comfortable hotel made for a wonderful weekend break. Will return next time we visit the island.

The hotel was clean and the staff were efficient and very friendly. The food and the restaurant were excellent. Parking was a problem on times and the shower pressure was poor. The owner is in the process of updating certain aspects of the hotel so this may be resolved in the near future.

Do Not Book. Unfortunately we had a very disappointing experience at this hotel. We were given a room that looked nothing like the pictures, and told there was no other rooms available and that other guests had been given priority of room because of how advance their booking was. Our booking was made 3 weeks prior so I wouldn’t have classes us as last minute. There was MOLD all around the windows in the bathroom and we were lied to that it was “grit” until the cleaner apologised that it was infact mold and was under the seal of the window. The shower pressure was a dribble so that was shocking. The reception girls were not only patronising but extremely unhelpful and u professional. I had to wait more than 30 minutes to try and speak to someone senior in charge as my request to move room was not taken seriously and when they eventually did show us a different room it was still outdated and not much difference from room 1. We were never refunded for our first nights stay however we were for our second night as we asked to leave the hotel and we found somewhere else to stay. This hotel was dirty, and didn’t make you feel at home. So disappointing and if I had not pushed for the situation to be handled we would have gotten nowhere. Do better.

The décor in the hotel was quirky but good. Staff very nice and helpful. The breakfast was good. Comfortable bed. If you are an early riser the WiFi is not switched on nor is the hot water till about 6 o'clock. Shower screen very dirty. Steamer Inn, Shanklin on sea front had a very nice menu, go down in the lift and it's on the right.

The hotel was lovely, very modern, gorgeous décor and impeccably clean. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Great location in Shanklin, only a street away from the lift which takes you down onto the beach and only a short walk to restaurants, gift shops and the local convenience shop. I would recommend the Q Hotel if you are planning on visiting Shanklin :-)

The property local to town. Curb appeal non existant.Broken notice menu board. No bins in the shower\toilet room, sink in the bedroom. towel above electric extension leads,next to the sink The photos do not dipict the room you get. So disappointed. We stayed only one night. The other three nights -we found a fabulous place near Yarmouth.

On first sight everything looked great. Funky interior in seating area near bar etc. Our room however was not up to scratch. Leftover hairs in the corners of the bathroom. Headboard and lamps not been Hoovered or dusted. Spray from other people's toothbrush not been cleaned on walls near sink. I told housekeeping and they did come to rectify however not the toothpaste spray or to my overall satisfaction. There was also a long hair wrapped in the toast holder at breakfast.

Nice small hotel with easy location, pleasant staff, had a small but comfortable room. Well appointed, great warm colors. Great bar, had everything we wanted. Beautiful old church across the street.

The Q Boutique Hotel - I thought that this was the QHotel chain but realised on arrival it wasnt! Having a pool and hot tub was great - made the holiday! All the furniture at the hotel was lovely vey chic! The bar area was nice. Breakfast was great! Rooms poorly decorated, BE WARNED…water pressure for the shower was a trickle, tv in room was too big as a standalone tv and was huge (need a smaller tv and on the wall). Squeaky and uncomfortable bed.

We stayed 3 nights over the Festival weekend. Easy to get to on public transport from London. Reasonably priced with great modern features in a classic building. The pool view room was comfortable and spacious enough but prepare to hear the pool users by 9am. We even heard people speaking in the rooms near us at 5am which woke us up as we’re light sleepers. Breakfast was great although finishes a bit early (10am). Great bar and lovely outdoor space with relaxing music to enjoy your drinks. We never had dinner at the hotel but I’m sure it was comparable with surrounding restaurants nearby. One downside about pool view room was the shower. The bathtub is next to the window and there was no shower door so to not get water everywhere it was best to shower sitting in the bath tub. Far from ideal. Overall we enjoyed our stay but would ask for a room with proper shower cubicle or shower door on the bath next time.

We stayed in 3 single rooms . These were small but mostly ok. All our beds were really comfortable and a good size and clean. One room didn't have a chest of drawers or a shelf in closest to put any folded cothes away and all lacked a chair . The rooms were pretty dark . The showers were hot and the pressure not bad . Overall for what we paid generally happy. and the staff so friendly . Breakfast also lovely .

Q for quirky decor. Room 10 was about the size of a sea cabin. "Compact" is being generous.It suits single ocupancy only. Bar area comfortable. Good choice of drinks. Hotel is close to the sea front so convenient.

Our stay at the Q overall was lovely. The hotel its self is of a high standard. The decor is amazing and the breakfast is banging. My only gripe would be the room. It was very small and there wasn’t a lot of room to move around. The free standing tele is so big, it takes up to much room. The basin was in the bedroom. The shower was very small. I think more attention needs to be put into the rooms to give more space to customers. Probably, easier said than done in an old building. But, saying that we would stay again. The staff were great and very friendly. Thank you.

Room facilities were poor. 1) Shower room inadequate; Showerhead not secured adequately, wash basin far too small, toilet seat not properly secured and not properly size matched to toilet pan. 2) TV; unnessessarily large for a small room and controls take a scientist to figure them. 3) Too many plug extensions and adapters.

From the moment we checked into the hotel the staff could not have been any friendlier and this was shared between all the staff from the kitchen staff to the ladies cleaning the rooms to the bar staff and to the owners nothing was a problem everybody was so helpful. the only downside of the room we where in was there is not a lot of room for any cases if like us you were staying for days we had to empty the cases and put them back into the car until we were leaving. the breakfast was excellent with plenty of options and all freshly cooked to a high standard. so a big well done to owners Sam and Simon.

Friendly, helpful staff and a lovely clean comfortable hotel made for a wonderful weekend break. Will return next time we visit the island.

Staff were great, totally stretched though. Closest thing to fawlty towers i have seen . A lot of reviews state the lack of shower . We can back this up . The room was decorated with peeling masking tape . The toilet seat barely hanging on . The staff must have seen this as they had to clean it (i assume). I would not stay here again as the walls are paper thin. V noisey

Overall experience was ok, but i'll look for something else next time. Negatives: Very tiny room and bathroom, in poor condition, could barely move around. We were put into a room at the back of the property (like an annex) although the hotel didn't seem busy at all, possibly because we were with our dog, but you'd think you get a slightly bigger room at least. Staff is polite but not welcoming, I felt like I was doing them a favour by being their guest. Positives: Close to the village, beach, restaurants/pubs. Lovely interior in reception/lobby area and nice bar.

Modern hotel in a great location only a short walk to beachfront and old town. Staff were very friendly and Shanklin is a good base to explore whole island.

The owners were very friendly. It is a beautiful small hotel. Breakfast was very good served in a lovely dining room. You could not see the sea. Itvwas close to Shanklin town. I would certainly recommend it.

Convenient location for old and new town centres and Lift to seafront.

A very nice weekend getaway. This hotel is well located, has very friendly staff and is well kept. Clean rooms and a very good breakfast. Also the pool is nice. The only minus was having our stay during a very hot weekend and having a room at the rear side of the hotel facing evening sun - no air conditioning… we still slept well!

We were ony on the Island for a few days, but the hotel acted as a great place for us to explore the area.

Lovely hotel with tidy rooms.Very close to the beach front and also tge shops.

This was the second time me and my partner have stayed at the Q hotel. Overall everything is great - staff lovely and easy to chat too, location and great walking distance.

Such a lovely hotel, amazing customer service, very welcoming & friendly. The lounge areas are so cosy, smell really nice! The decor is adorable. A little bar with a good selection of drinks. An amazing breakfast was served in the morning. Just an all round brilliant stay.

Ok hotel . Great location. Parking worked well. Nice bar. Only one breakfast price made for an expensive option if you wanted something light - eg scrambled eggs on toast. Shower - poor, both water pressure and temperature rubbish, and when asked pretty much told that’s how it is in our room. TV use too complicated ! Pleasant enough stay but unlikely to return.

Only spent a night after a late arrival, so not much time to experience the place fully, but the night and breakfast I had were truly excellent.

Our stay at this hidden gem was fantastic. The hosts were warm, welcoming and accommodating. We enjoyed swimming in the heated outdoor pool and having dinner at the restaurant. The food was absolutely delicious. We loved interior design and decor, the prints were really great and unique. We highly recommend this hotel to anyone seeking a cosy, stylish, well-located, and highly welcoming place to stay.

Pleasant hotel with surprisingly good restaurant. Very clean but also strong smell of chlorine cleaner in bathroom. Really nice friendly staff at hotel, restaurant and bar.

We had a pleasant stay. Bit disappointed with our room. Had booked a superior double room but it was very small and dominated by an extremely large unnecessary TV. Apparently it was classed superior as you could see the pool from the window. However, the staff were all very nice and friendly and very happy to help in any way. The breakfast was very good and my meal in the restaurant very nice.
