Staff was friendly, room was lovely, but the spa was a disappointment, hardly any sun loungers, pool too small. Partner said men’s changing rooms was dirty and unhygienic. Jacuzzi wasn’t working. Spa area also seemed dirty, so we didn’t get any use of the facilities there. Personal opinion- only allow certain amount of people in the spa so it doesn’t get too crowded.

Hotel rooms bar lovely Leisure club terrible hot tub out of order but generally dirty and so many areas of plaster falling off wall so in need of refurb Which is such a shame been here lots but will not return wish id took photos as you could see what i saw

The rooms were clean enough, however i could hear what seemed to be like a generator buzzing all night! It has plenty of plugs and usb ports near the bed and a good sized TV There are two parts to the hotel, the cheaper rooms are based further away from the reception in the extension building which is only accessible by stairs (not a lot) however this means you are closer to the spa! The staff are friendly, the changing rooms need updating as well as the steam room! The pool is not very big however its enough to have a splash about or a few widths Towels are provided for free and the showers are hotter and better than in the rooms! The restaurant is very overpriced and the service is extremely slow! The food was ok but definitely not good value for money If you planning on watching football at west brom its a good location otherwise its a minimum 30 mins from Birmingham with not much happening locally so if its a night over for business theres not other food choices. Breakfast was ok has the basics and was regularly rotated so was fresh I wouldn’t rush back or say its high end If there wasn’t a persistent buzzing that kept me up i would have given 4 stars

Great place to stay and breakfast was great (apart from the hash browns). The spa was a little small and the changing rooms desperately need updating. Dinner was good though the service was very slow. I would stay there again.

The staff is wonderful. They went above and beyond with their service. The restaurant and bar are very good with great service. Very comfortable setting. The rooms are nice and clean.The decor is pleasant and rooms are bright. I found this hotel to be quiet. They have magnets on the hall doors that shut at night. It stops the noise. I would recommend this hotel and would definitely stay again.

Reception tried charging me overnight parking which I successfully challenged as there was no mention when I booked. On route to the room I found dirty corridors and stained carpets. Outside one room was a pile of muck that was apparently caused by the builders, yet I didn’t see any ‘men at work’ signage on the route to my room, nor did reception advise. I stay a lot with work and have a high tolerance for average hotels / standards. I’ll never stay here again. I emailed the hotel manager overnight and haven’t had a response.

The bed was comfy, and the room was okay, but a little dated. The spa was seriously gross, but the gym was fine. The front desk people need some training, it's supposed to be a 4-star hotel. It's really more like a 3-star.

Hotel looks nice from reception. But once past reception it goes down hill quickly. The corridors are run down and filthy. Towels left by doors for the 2 days we were there. And no member of staff thought to move them. Our room had an empty shower gel in the shower so obviously hadnt been checked by the housekeepers. There were old receipts by the bin so hadnt been cleaned correctly. Marks on the duvet cover with writing on it saying "theres a strange stain" amd an arrow pointing to it. The menu and welcome lettwr had tea or coffee stains all over it. And the aircon/heating didnt work.

I was checked in efficiently by polite staff. My room was lovely and warm and clean, had all the basics needed - tv, coffee etc and toiletries. A bit sad to see chips to sink and wall tiles that needed replacement. Some of the general corridoor areas looked tatty and would benefit from a paint (in a colour that doesnt show wear and tear)

Staff were great, the room was small and the air conditioning didn't work, which meant I had to have to sleep with the window opened, listening to the M5 all night. They did move me for the second night to an air conditioned room.

We stayed at the Mercure recently and while there were a few hiccups, I’m giving an extra star simply because the staff were so lovely. Maciej and the reception team were particularly brilliant – incredibly helpful, kind, and genuinely went out of their way to make our stay easier. They helped my husband print his exam notes for free, and were really accommodating when it came to storing my medication that needed strict temperature control. That kind of thoughtful service really does go a long way. The housekeeping team were also great – friendly and the room was very clean. However, the room itself was a bit smaller than we expected and didn’t have a fridge or microwave. I know a lot of hotels seem to be moving away from offering those now, but it’s still worth noting. A couple of bits in the room could do with attention too – the iron was slightly broken and the shower handles were a bit wobbly. The drainage in the shower wasn’t the best either, with water pooling quite quickly. We mainly chose this hotel for the hot tub, so it was a shame that it was out of order during our visit. The pool, steam room and sauna were nice to use though, and I even joined in on a couple of classes which were fun. The leisure area overall could do with a bit of a refresh – there’s a bit of rust around and it does get quite busy, as it seems to be shared with local members. Breakfast was fine, nothing special, but it did the job.

Excellent hotel. Very modern and clean. Staff all very friendly and helpful. The lady at reception was especially helpful and good at her job very welcoming her name was Mairita ( I think) breakfast was basic but all good quality food nice and fresh and hot.

I had an issue with my antidepressants being on my luggage which ended up being left behind. I went through severe withdrawal symptoms and was in acute distress. Mauritania, Stephan, and Rad went above and beyond the call of duty to make sure I was well cared for the entire time. The hotel industry really needs more people like them. They truly exemplify what customer service is all about.

This property is reasonably priced and very convenient for a football visit to the Hawthorns. Nice breakfast and pleasant bar. Rooms are comfortable and quiet. About a 15 minutes walk into West Bromwich.

Was a lovely stay. Room was perfect for the weekend. Parking was well priced. Didn't have time to try the pool/gym facilities but looked good when we walked past. Metro was close and didnt take long to get into Birmingham. Will book again if we were to come back no hesitation.

Breakfast was very good. They had real tomatoes rather than the tinned version and there was a good range and choice. Bed and pillows all very comfortable and all the facilities worked including the air conditioner. Check in was quick and easy but I was surprised that they charged guests for parking.

Our room heating system was not working, there was a tiny oil filled radiator instead! It was -4° outside! I ask at reception to get a resolution! Response hotel has 160 rooms, 99 occupied. Based on our booking the room we booked was the one we’d been allocated. It was a standard double. The room the event we were attending was also very cold. The bar offer was also poor, 10% white wine, no port poor beer!

All in all we had a very positive experience at this hotel, the staff were friendly and helpful, the rooms were clean and comfortable, wifi was good, however one complaint was the standard of the pump ales and lagers on offer was really very poor, i sincerely think the pipes and pumps are lacking in any decent servicing for quite a while, obviously not the fault of the persons serving it but very poor non the less

Overall the stay was very good the only disappointment was the 24 hour room service menu that only supplied margarita pizza and the £5 charge to have it delivered to your room - on arrival the pizza was not the best so think a little bit more choice would be great or a note online to advise a very limited food service 24 hours so people can bring alternatives with them

It was okay. Problem with the shower, very very hot, then very cold, impossible to have a shower without being scalded. Breakfast was dissapointing. Waited ages for my evening meal. As with a lot of the hotels in this area midweek, they cater to big groups of contractors like Eon, British Gas etc which means menus full of burgers and chips
