Avila Beach House

This is such a great spot in Avila Beach. I’m a local and I took a vacation here about 20 years ago with my family and I remembered it being such a great trip and having so much fun and thinking it was a nice hotel and returning as an adult now 20 years later it was even better than I remembered. Really nice spot! My only reason for giving 4 stars regarding the facilities conditions was because the spa was quite sandy and murky, but we are right across from the beach and there are a lot of families with young kids that stay at this hotel, so do with that what you will. They had a dj though when we were there and live music another night at the pool area so that was awesome. Highly recommend and will be back!!

Fabulous spot on the beach! Grounds lovely and room was quiet, comfortable and spacious. Breakfast just very basic. Only reason for the overall average rating was all the fees and taxes that were added on. Be aware there is a required $50 per day resort fee plus tax of $6.25 per day on this fee. There is also a $15 per day parking fee on top. So really they should advertise $71.25 per day fees not including the room charge. I’m not sure that is clear on the Expedia website. I was able to get parking waived for 2 of the 3 days we were there when I brought up my confusion.

We were treated so well from the moment we arrived. The suite was beautiful with a gorgeous view. The pool, spa and fire pit area was sparkling clean and inviting. The room had a Keurig coffee pot, microwave and small refrigerator. The bed was really comfortable as well. We also received a bottle of wine in the room free of charge! I cannot imagine how I would improve upon what they are already doing.

My family (wife, two kids (10 & 8 years old)) and I stayed a single night at the Avila Lighthouse Suites. My 10-yo declared that this hotel deserves a 5-Star review! Overall, she was right, it is a fantastic hotel. We stayed in a deluxe two-queen room, which was plenty spacious and had all the necessary amenities, and was fairly well cleaned. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. The swimming pool and hot tub were big and beautifully maintained and there were no shortages of pool towels. There is also a putting green and the hotel offers loaner putters and golf balls, so you can work on your short game, prior to heading to the nearby golf course. The grounds are gorgeously landscaped with tropical foliage, so relaxing by the pool or firepits was easy to do. Despite the fantastic grounds keeping and decor, location is everything with this hotel! Directly across the street from sandy Avila Beach, there is even a foot-washing/shower station at each of the beach access points to the hotel grounds. The complementary breakfast, served in the "Galley", was very well appointed and had items for every member of our diverse family. And, for lunch and dinner, you will not even need to drive since the hotel is just at the north end of the town's main strip and there are several restaurants and bars just walking distance away. This hotel really is a great place to stay with the young kids and I hope to make a return trip again!

Property was great. They have beach chairs and sandcastle toys. The breakfast was better than any other hotel breakfast including fresh cut fruits and different breads. Pool and hot tub were great. Location perfect for a beach pool day. Hotel was very busy! Rooms a bit outdated and small bathroom

Great location right across the beach, good dining options nearby. Lovely park and biking trails.Excellent customer services and amenities- like e-bikes, kites, boogie boards etc. Lots of things for kids and adults to do.

Great location and very family friendly. Across from the beach and walk away from food and restaurants. Breakfast every morning included was very convenient, only negative was fire pits wasn’t working, and they should have several gas heaters available for outdoor night time. We loved it.

Overall good check in , but didn't offer any room upgrade as a Gold Expedia status . Felt that paying $15 for parking is ridiculous. The room rate is already high. There were only 5 cars in parking lot . Everything was clean . Nice reception and yummy cookies

Hotel with a so called."3.5 Star rating" with upfront robbery of 5 star Price at a 1 star customer service! Pros -> Beach front ->Good quality mattress & pillows CONS: ->Reception/Lobby, or ACTUALLY A Gift shop with a Reception area spot! ->There was a water problem but would not even give 1 bottle of water for each guest, 2 bottles for 3 guests and its a hot day!!! ->No one ever clean our room, the carpet is sticky! -> I was in the middle of packing for our departure, since the day before no one cleaned the room, so at least someone can bring 4 laundry bags to the room, " no one is available to take them," no one is still in housekeeping". ( 7:30 am) Are you kidding me, this is a $650 per night suite (inc, taxes) and no housekeeping personnel and no change of linen, no cleaning the day before? ->Lying is very serious; we booked for an upper floor King Suite with sofa Bed. I changed it to 2 queen size bed on the lower floor since I was told while we were still on the way that the " The elevator ONLY operates up to our floor and does NOT go on the upper floor, only the stairway is the only way to go up,so since my husband has mobility issue I said I will take the ower floor " So my normally skeptical self, trusted the staff, downgraded my accommodation at the upgraded price, only to find out on the day of out departure that the elevator goes to the upper floor as well (they call it 2nd but actually its literally the third floor) Give your business somewhere else!

The rooms were spacious and clean

We have been coming to this hotel since 2007. Always a great time. The house keeping did a superb job this trip with daily room cleaning, breakfast was fresh and hot with plenty of choices, property was maintained daily and the staff was all friendly.

Overall a nice place to stay. The inside was very clean but the flooring could be replaced. We heard the place has been purchased and they are rebranding so hopefully they will renovate the rooms as well. Friendly staff and conveniently located to shops, dining and the beach. The town closes down early.

I really liked being right next to everything. Just wish the hotel looked at nice as the high prices you pay for it. My room needed repairing and cleaning. Just overall needs more attention to cleanliness and upkeep.

The cleanest room I ever stayed

Property was very clean and convenient location. Property was well maintained. We did not receive any “perks” for booking with Expedia on this VIP property. Breakfast was excellent.

The room was quite nice, unfortunately the walls are not soundproof at all. Throughout the night about every 15 minutes what sounded like a motor probably an air conditioning unit would kick on lasted 3-4 minutes, repeat. Unfortunately for us there were children upstairs, heavy feet and running throughout. Property was clean and well maintained, very nice.

It's all in the little details! Aside from the modern clean rooms and property, the fresh baked cookies and water in the lobby were a very nice touch. We were surprised to hear that there was a wonderful complimentary breakfast every morning!! That set the tone of each day, just right! Our views from our balcony was so amazing every day. We watched as the staff cleaned up the pool and the cushions from the outdoor furniture every day. Everyone smiled when we passed them. Housekeeping was so kind and courteous as well as front desk staff. The hotel is dog-friendly and the comp treats was a bonus. Everything was almost perfect. The only complaint we have is the AC/fan in the room was very hard to regulate. It would turn off every time we opened our balcony door and that was often. We had to leave the windows open so the room wouldn't get so stuffy but then the noise in the mornings was pretty loud since our room was next to the main walkway to the pool and dining hall. Even at night, we couldn't set AC/fan to kick on properly and we would wake up with 75-76 degree temps. But overall, we love Avila and we love this property!

Our stay at the Avila Lighthouse was really nice. Everything was fine and for families a place to be based on the fact that the beach is right in front, all stuff needed for the beach was in good shape and free of charge. What is really a bit a shame is, that the Resort got into "the years" and it needs some renovation in the rooms and also outside. The situation that our first room 103 had no real air-conditioning more a uplifted watercooling system ... we switched to room 200 but ... not really better. No air-conditioning. In both rooms was a extra air fan for use. If there is no real working air-conditioning it should not be noted in the hotel description. That was the really only thing which was not nice ... in general a nice place to be with families.

Great location right at the beach, with spacious suite room, clean and comfortable king size bed. Friendly staff and very helpful. However the pull out sofa bed was very sagged, not good for the back that my son was more comfortable sleeping on the sofa.

In general, we were very content with our 3 day stay at Avila Lighthouse Suites. Only one issue was bugging us. We had an ocean front room on the second floor in the eastern part of the hotel. The swings at the beach right in front of our room makes a terrible creaking noise, which made the balcony unusable from 10am until sunset, where the swings were in constant use. Please get this fixed.

Wonderful property, perfect location, super friendly staff! The only major drawback was the pull-out bed…very thin & super uncomfortable mattress. As a suite, this is one of the 2 beds in the room, so it was definitely a negative to have to sleep on this, especially for the price of the room. Otherwise, the room was very accommodating, staff was great and the location was unbeatable!

The amenities and property are very nice here, the beds are very comfortable. The family suites are very nice and the second story has a great view of the ocean.

My 9 year old daughter's tablet was left behind in the room. We didn't realize it until we got home (a couple hours away), but when I called it had been turned in by housekeeping and was shipped to us right away. Thankful for their honesty! We will be back soon!

Service was terrible. Had to switch rooms and move our stuff for checkout to rebook another room.

We were an hour away from the property (on Fathers Day Weekend) when I checked my email and found an email mail from Expedia saying the hotel overbooked and can no longer accommodate me. This is a property that we regularly stay at. I called the hotel to see what was going on, and the hotel representative was rude, unapologetic and did absolutely nothing to be helpful after their goof up! She had every opportunity to help move me to a sister property or refer some other hotels- nothing. It’s very disappointing to see service go down the drain at such great locations. Not happy.

From beggining to end the staff was right on point. The room was warm, comfy, with a beautiful view of the ocean! A member of the staff gave us the late check out option toward the end. We were just chopping it up and i ended up informing her that I was there with my girlfriend, and it was our 1 year anniversary. At that point she threw in a free bottle of champagne! All the shops whether you want some good quality food, coffee, or just some last minute stuff you forgot from home are within walking distance. If you like a good latte, go to kraken coffee company. Good fish and chips or clam chowder(which avila or anywhere in the 5 city's area is known for)CUSTOM HOUSE or MERSEA'S. Real simple, walk in and order, type places. These employees are really accustomed to high volumes of people coming in and out. Therefore any lines you might get caught in(mostly weekends)will move pretty quickly. Hopefully this helps.

Well thought we’d have a nice night in Avila. The weather is really lovely ! Booked room at Avila Lighthouse Suites. Have stayed here many times over the years with many fond memories. THIS TRIP IS NOT TURNING OUT THAT WAY.😩 Two parties going on, one with speakers steps from our room. But the real kicker is they are painting and drilling in the room next door. It’s 8:25 PM and drilling is still going on even after many complaints. Definitely not the nice relaxing beach night we thought we would have. Paint fumes now coming into the room now also. Have been to many hotels who have had construction and they always warn you and never work after hours, much less never have fumes coming into another room from connecting doors!😢😩 Front desk has done nothing to stop the work next door. Now hammering too!

Lovely property, can't beat the location. The beds and pillows were sooo comfortable. Having a separate living room area and kitchenette was very nice too. The pool and jacuzzi were great and so was the breakfast each morning. Chromecast in the rooms was also great. We came in the off season, forced out of our hometown by fires. Staff was very considerate and upgraded our room to ocean front, which was so kind and was a highlight of our time here. Would recommend this property to anyone and we will be back.

Had a bit of a problem at check in, but Christopher, the manager, apologized and made it right. Beach is directly across the street and the hotel provided umbrellas and beach chairs at no cost. Parent brought their kids to the pool at 8:00 so rooms close to the pool get a lot of noise. The suites are roomy with a beachy decor. Will stay again.

Had a great stay in Avila Beach at The Lighthouse Suites. Our room was generously sized and the location directly across from the beach and adjacent to shopping and dining was perfect. Will definitely be back next year!

If it weren’t for the rusty swings outside the hotel making a high pitch creak (non stop - when people not swinging, the wind blew them and they creaked/ground/squeaked) I would have rated this five stars.

People on the street parking outside the hotel balcony/rooms and at the public park across the street played really loud obnoxious music late into the night. Hotel can't do anything becasue it's not their property.

Beautiful family oriented property right across from a wonderful beach snd 50 feet to restaurants and shops. Very nice quaint village to stay in.

Right by the beach, very clean beach area and walking path. Nice restaurants just steps away. No restaurant within the hotel property but plenty of choices just steps away on the street. Very cute European style atmosphere and everything is so clean. Even the beach itself was unusually clean. Soothing sound of the waves crashing the shores and nice balcony with ocean view.
