Staff at the hotel were always helpful and friendly. Check in was available when we arrived late at the night, and also no problem with late check-out. They helped to get doctors to the hotel because of a medical emergency. In the end it required treatment at the hospital. But it was good to have staff members that made things easier. The location of the hotel is great. And it is close to several restaurant, cafés, Complexo Balnear do Lido, centrum of Funchal and more. The pool area of the hotel were quite nice. But I have to be honest and say that in general. The hotel was pretty outdated and it definitely needs some maintenance. And it was a strange smell in the room. Maybe fungus or mold. No AC, and the safe didn't have a lock. And there was no fridge. Perhaps there are some in other rooms 🤔 But I got the impression that other rooms were better. And we got the opportunity to change room so thumbs up for that. The food was okey, and you had a few things to choose from. Overall an okey hotel with a good potential to be even better. Staff were great as mentioned. But hotel needs and upgrade and some maintenance. The hotel is fairly cheap to stay at, so if you want to travel on a budget. Or just dont want to spend a lot on a hotel, this will be a good option.

The hotel is a good cheap option with some pros and cons. Pros - the outdoor pool area is nice and if interested in entertainment they have varying acts throughout the week. The breakfast is also really good with a wide variety of food on offer on the buffet. Cons - a couple of times the reception staff were not very warm, barely looked at me or greeted me. Not all of them but a couple of them I felt like I was bothering them. The room I stayed in was tired with terrible sound proofing, I could hear everything in the corridor like they were in my room. I also had a towel in my room that was covered in fluff which when I picked it up and gave it a shake, so much fell off onto the floor mat it was very weird and I couldn’t believe they would put that towel in my bathroom for me to use.

Paid 80 euro per night and would say it is good value for what you get. The hotel general areas is in good shape, as well as pool area and restaurant, and a nice rooftop where you can bring your own drink and have a nice view. The rooms are well cleaned and good supplied breakfast buffe.

cet hôtel est bien situé dans Funchal mais fait partie d'un groupement de 3 hôtels avec finalement très peu de places de parking ( environ 20 places!) Faut donc de la chance pour pouvoir garer sa voiture chaque soir. Il y a bcp de chambres sur 11 étages alors si vous aimez les hôtels plus familiaux, il n'est pas pour vous. L'avantage est que le personnel parle français. Le petit déjeuner est très copieux. Il y a aussi des animations autour du bar....

I can not leave a bad review for this hotel. Although not the best I’ve stayed in, it is good value for money! Firstly, this is a late 1980’s built hotel, with few updates other than maintenance. This reflected in the very affordable price. It is clean, not run down, but dated. Get a room with a balcony & the higher the better. We changed our room from 518 (facing north/west) to 512 (facing south/west) for more sun on the balcony in the late morning, however the rooms were the same, twin beds decent sized wardrobe and shower en-suite. All very clean, but no kettle or fridge. Take a travel kettle & adapter plug! Staff were excellent & professional, check-in was easy, they ordered taxis and even organised a well priced car rental for us, together with some great sight-seeing advice. (Sunset beach/Maktub Pub). The buffet Breakfast is absolutely fine and good selection, however can’t recommend the buffet (school?) dinner! Try the Fora d’Oras for an excellent evening meal near the entrance. The indoor swimming pool (& jacuzzi) is excellent for raining days but can get busy occasionally, the outdoor pool & bar area great for sunny days & sun terraces are good too. The sea is a 7-10 minute walk down the hill, but be warned, like most of Madeira, the climb back is steep! The area is fine, but don’t bother going up from the hotel. There’s a nice pub showing sports if you turn left, turn right and head down the hill for loads of descent restaurants & shops. Enjoy!

This hotel is located at the top of a hill, so not for people with bad legs. It is located in a quiet and peaceful area, so perfect for people who want peace and quiet. The restaurant by the pool makes nice burgers, sandwiches, etc. The pool is large enough to swim a few laps. We enjoyed our 10 day stay, 3-4 of which were spent on the hotel grounds, the rest of the days, we spent on trips around the island.

O hotel é interessante, muito bem localizado para quem não quer comer no hotel. No recinto existem 3 hotéis do mesmo grupo, aos quais, não estão identificados. Fui á primeira receção em que apanhei uma funcionária super simpática que me explicou e indicou onde era realmente o hotel onde iria ficar. Subimos ( uma rampa a pique) para a seguinte receção onde está uma tremenda confusão e fui atendida por 3 funcionários, super desorganizado. Quando questionei sobre deixar o carro no parque o mesmo é pago 7€ ao dia, quando reservei o hotel, não dizia NADA sobre o parque ser pago e para aquele dia que cheguei não tinha lugar, ou seja, depois de jantar, o carro ficou estacionado quase 2 quarteirões do hotel. Seguindo, recebemos cartão mais dois vouchers de desconto para o 1 pequeno almoço e 1 jantar (top) e quando chegamos junto ao elevador pois era no 7 andar só existia 1 elevador a funcionar para 11 andares!!! Chegamos a estar 20/30min á espera do elevador. Quando chegamos ao quarto por duas vezes, o nosso cartão não abria a porta e la nos mudaram o cartão. As fotografias acolhedoras que mostram na “publicidade” dos quartos não é a realidade, o nosso quarto tinha o chão sujo, o frigorífico com cabelos e a casa de banho, enfim. Não existe AC somente uma ventoinha. O nosso check-out foi dia 25-10 e até hoje ainda estamos á espera da fatura. Nisto tudo, a melhor parte do quarto era a vista para o mar.

ATTENTION! Woke up one morning to use the washroom and there was an extremely massive coackroach i dont understand how it even got in if we are in the top floor. On the maps it says estrelicia is the bottom hotel and its not its the top one. You need to walk up a hill almost 100 meters to reach your hotel. The photos is shows when you book your staying are not the same photos because mine looked nothing like the photo's i wish i could post the photos. There is a lot of people that only stayed one night and asked for the money back and found another hotel. We had to clean the washroom when we arrived because it wasnt cleaned properly. The breakfast buffet is nothing special. I will not come back.

The staff was very helpful and kind. The area was more "touristy" than expected. The hotel itself was outdated aside from the restaurants and lobby area. The room did not have ac so it was hot and musty. The bathroom was extremely outdated and did not seem very clean

Fint pool område och god mat. Städningen av rummet kunde varit bättre. Saknade en papperskorg i rummet samt ingen Ac så de blev väldigt varmt i rummet. Frukost buffé funkade med de fylldes på sakta med frukten och pannkakor.

O hotel é interessante, muito bem localizado para quem não quer comer no hotel. No recinto existem 3 hotéis do mesmo grupo, aos quais, não estão identificados. Fui á primeira receção em que apanhei uma funcionária super simpática que me explicou e indicou onde era realmente o hotel onde iria ficar. Subimos ( uma rampa a pique) para a seguinte receção onde está uma tremenda confusão e fui atendida por 3 funcionários, super desorganizado. Quando questionei sobre deixar o carro no parque o mesmo é pago 7€ ao dia, quando reservei o hotel, não dizia NADA sobre o parque ser pago e para aquele dia que cheguei não tinha lugar, ou seja, depois de jantar, o carro ficou estacionado quase 2 quarteirões do hotel. Seguindo, recebemos cartão mais dois vouchers de desconto para o 1 pequeno almoço e 1 jantar (top) e quando chegamos junto ao elevador pois era no 7 andar só existia 1 elevador a funcionar para 11 andares!!! Chegamos a estar 20/30min á espera do elevador. Quando chegamos ao quarto por duas vezes, o nosso cartão não abria a porta e la nos mudaram o cartão. As fotografias acolhedoras que mostram na “publicidade” dos quartos não é a realidade, o nosso quarto tinha o chão sujo, o frigorífico com cabelos e a casa de banho, enfim. Não existe AC somente uma ventoinha. O nosso check-out foi dia 25-10 e até hoje ainda estamos á espera da fatura. Nisto tudo, a melhor parte do quarto era a vista para o mar.

ATTENTION! Woke up one morning to use the washroom and there was an extremely massive coackroach i dont understand how it even got in if we are in the top floor. On the maps it says estrelicia is the bottom hotel and its not its the top one. You need to walk up a hill almost 100 meters to reach your hotel. The photos is shows when you book your staying are not the same photos because mine looked nothing like the photo's i wish i could post the photos. There is a lot of people that only stayed one night and asked for the money back and found another hotel. We had to clean the washroom when we arrived because it wasnt cleaned properly. The breakfast buffet is nothing special. I will not come back.

The staff was very helpful and kind. The area was more "touristy" than expected. The hotel itself was outdated aside from the restaurants and lobby area. The room did not have ac so it was hot and musty. The bathroom was extremely outdated and did not seem very clean

The hotel is a good cheap option with some pros and cons. Pros - the outdoor pool area is nice and if interested in entertainment they have varying acts throughout the week. The breakfast is also really good with a wide variety of food on offer on the buffet. Cons - a couple of times the reception staff were not very warm, barely looked at me or greeted me. Not all of them but a couple of them I felt like I was bothering them. The room I stayed in was tired with terrible sound proofing, I could hear everything in the corridor like they were in my room. I also had a towel in my room that was covered in fluff which when I picked it up and gave it a shake, so much fell off onto the floor mat it was very weird and I couldn’t believe they would put that towel in my bathroom for me to use.

I can not leave a bad review for this hotel. Although not the best I’ve stayed in, it is good value for money! Firstly, this is a late 1980’s built hotel, with few updates other than maintenance. This reflected in the very affordable price. It is clean, not run down, but dated. Get a room with a balcony & the higher the better. We changed our room from 518 (facing north/west) to 512 (facing south/west) for more sun on the balcony in the late morning, however the rooms were the same, twin beds decent sized wardrobe and shower en-suite. All very clean, but no kettle or fridge. Take a travel kettle & adapter plug! Staff were excellent & professional, check-in was easy, they ordered taxis and even organised a well priced car rental for us, together with some great sight-seeing advice. (Sunset beach/Maktub Pub). The buffet Breakfast is absolutely fine and good selection, however can’t recommend the buffet (school?) dinner! Try the Fora d’Oras for an excellent evening meal near the entrance. The indoor swimming pool (& jacuzzi) is excellent for raining days but can get busy occasionally, the outdoor pool & bar area great for sunny days & sun terraces are good too. The sea is a 7-10 minute walk down the hill, but be warned, like most of Madeira, the climb back is steep! The area is fine, but don’t bother going up from the hotel. There’s a nice pub showing sports if you turn left, turn right and head down the hill for loads of descent restaurants & shops. Enjoy!

Very expensive for what this hotel has to offer. The pictures of the listings do not match with the bedrooms. No air conditioner, rooms werent ready at time for our check-in, cables hang around, lack of electric plugs and sink was bloaked. Also no kettle/tea/coffee facilities. And very poorly choice of breakfast buffet.

This hotel is in a great location and, has a good restaurant which offers a buffet breakfast with a great variety of things. The rooms are neat and tidy and the views from some of them are spectacular. I Would recommend for smaller groups, families and or solo travellers.

Overall the property was pretty poor. The staff were nice enough however facilities were much lacking. The room was spacey but one of the rooms had no fan or air conditioning and so was too hot to sleep in. The location was not very accessible located at the top of a large hill and so getting luggage up was difficult. The hotel was noisy and one of the rooms was located with the window facing inwards towards a wall.

Staff at the hotel were always helpful and friendly. Check in was available when we arrived late at the night, and also no problem with late check-out. They helped to get doctors to the hotel because of a medical emergency. In the end it required treatment at the hospital. But it was good to have staff members that made things easier. The location of the hotel is great. And it is close to several restaurant, cafés, Complexo Balnear do Lido, centrum of Funchal and more. The pool area of the hotel were quite nice. But I have to be honest and say that in general. The hotel was pretty outdated and it definitely needs some maintenance. And it was a strange smell in the room. Maybe fungus or mold. No AC, and the safe didn't have a lock. And there was no fridge. Perhaps there are some in other rooms 🤔 But I got the impression that other rooms were better. And we got the opportunity to change room so thumbs up for that. The food was okey, and you had a few things to choose from. Overall an okey hotel with a good potential to be even better. Staff were great as mentioned. But hotel needs and upgrade and some maintenance. The hotel is fairly cheap to stay at, so if you want to travel on a budget. Or just dont want to spend a lot on a hotel, this will be a good option.

We were not told of the steepness of the path leading to the hotel, which was difficult for my wife to negotiate. We were half board but we're not told drinks were not included with our evening meal, not even water. We also were not told whether we could bring our own drinks in, even if it was just water. The staff were not very helpful if you did not want to buy drinks and if I'd known that you could not have brought your own water to dinner I would not have booked this hotel. There was not an all inclusive option available when I booked this hotel so we should have been told that soft drinks would/would not be allowed at dinner Instead of being watched suspiciously by staff whilst eating our meal. I don't want lots of additional costs to my bill at the end of my stay and don't see why I should pay exorbitant prices for drinks when absolutely no alternative, not even water, is offered. As I said, the hotel should say brought in soft drinks are allowed at dinner or offer at least one free beverage per night, especially when a all inclusive option is not available at the hotel.

The hotel is a good cheap option with some pros and cons. Pros - the outdoor pool area is nice and if interested in entertainment they have varying acts throughout the week. The breakfast is also really good with a wide variety of food on offer on the buffet. Cons - a couple of times I spoke to the reception staff they were not very warm, barely looked at me or greeted me. Not all of them but a couple of them I felt like I was bothering them. The room I stayed in was tired with terrible sound proofing, people in the corridor sounded like they were in my room. I also had a towel in my room that was covered in fluff which when I picked it up and gave it a shake, so much fell off onto the floor mat it was very weird and I couldn’t believe a housekeeper put that towel in my bathroom for me to use.

O hotel é interessante, muito bem localizado para quem não quer comer no hotel. No recinto existem 3 hotéis do mesmo grupo, aos quais, não estão identificados. Fui á primeira receção em que apanhei uma funcionária super simpática que me explicou e indicou onde era realmente o hotel onde iria ficar. Subimos ( uma rampa a pique) para a seguinte receção onde está uma tremenda confusão e fui atendida por 3 funcionários, super desorganizado. Quando questionei sobre deixar o carro no parque o mesmo é pago 7€ ao dia, quando reservei o hotel, não dizia NADA sobre o parque ser pago e para aquele dia que cheguei não tinha lugar, ou seja, depois de jantar, o carro ficou estacionado quase 2 quarteirões do hotel. Seguindo, recebemos cartão mais dois vouchers de desconto para o 1 pequeno almoço e 1 jantar (top) e quando chegamos junto ao elevador pois era no 7 andar só existia 1 elevador a funcionar para 11 andares!!! Chegamos a estar 20/30min á espera do elevador. Quando chegamos ao quarto por duas vezes, o nosso cartão não abria a porta e la nos mudaram o cartão. As fotografias acolhedoras que mostram na “publicidade” dos quartos não é a realidade, o nosso quarto tinha o chão sujo, o frigorífico com cabelos e a casa de banho, enfim. Não existe AC somente uma ventoinha. O nosso check-out foi dia 25-10 e até hoje ainda estamos á espera da fatura. Nisto tudo, a melhor parte do quarto era a vista para o mar.

Staff at the hotel were always helpful and friendly. Check in was available when we arrived late at the night, and also no problem with late check-out. They helped to get doctors to the hotel because of a medical emergency. In the end it required treatment at the hospital. But it was good to have staff members that made things easier. The location of the hotel is great. And it is close to several restaurant, cafés, Complexo Balnear do Lido, centrum of Funchal and more. The pool area of the hotel were quite nice. But I have to be honest and say that in general. The hotel was pretty outdated and it definitely needs some maintenance. And it was a strange smell in the room. Maybe fungus or mold. No AC, and the safe didn't have a lock. And there was no fridge. Perhaps there are some in other rooms 🤔 But I got the impression that other rooms were better. And we got the opportunity to change room so thumbs up for that. The food was okey, and you had a few things to choose from. Overall an okey hotel with a good potential to be even better. Staff were great as mentioned. But hotel needs and upgrade and some maintenance. The hotel is fairly cheap to stay at, so if you want to travel on a budget. Or just dont want to spend a lot on a hotel, this will be a good option.

cet hôtel est bien situé dans Funchal mais fait partie d'un groupement de 3 hôtels avec finalement très peu de places de parking ( environ 20 places!) Faut donc de la chance pour pouvoir garer sa voiture chaque soir. Il y a bcp de chambres sur 11 étages alors si vous aimez les hôtels plus familiaux, il n'est pas pour vous. L'avantage est que le personnel parle français. Le petit déjeuner est très copieux. Il y a aussi des animations autour du bar....

We were not told of the steepness of the path leading to the hotel, which was difficult for my wife to negotiate. We were half board but we're not told drinks were not included with our evening meal, not even water. We also were not told whether we could bring our own drinks in, even if it was just water. The staff were not very helpful if you did not want to buy drinks and if I'd known that you could not have brought your own water to dinner I would not have booked this hotel. There was not an all inclusive option available when I booked this hotel so we should have been told that soft drinks would/would not be allowed at dinner Instead of being watched suspiciously by staff whilst eating our meal. I don't want lots of additional costs to my bill at the end of my stay and don't see why I should pay exorbitant prices for drinks when absolutely no alternative, not even water, is offered. As I said, the hotel should say brought in soft drinks are allowed at dinner or offer at least one free beverage per night, especially when a all inclusive option is not available at the hotel.

I can not leave a bad review for this hotel. Although not the best I’ve stayed in, it is good value for money! Firstly, this is a late 1980’s built hotel, with few updates other than maintenance. This reflected in the very affordable price. It is clean, not run down, but dated. Get a room with a balcony & the higher the better. We changed our room from 518 (facing north/west) to 512 (facing south/west) for more sun on the balcony in the late morning, however the rooms were the same, twin beds decent sized wardrobe and shower en-suite. All very clean, but no kettle or fridge. Take a travel kettle & adapter plug! Staff were excellent & professional, check-in was easy, they ordered taxis and even organised a well priced car rental for us, together with some great sight-seeing advice. (Sunset beach/Maktub Pub). The buffet Breakfast is absolutely fine and good selection, however can’t recommend the buffet (school?) dinner! Try the Fora d’Oras for an excellent evening meal near the entrance. The indoor swimming pool (& jacuzzi) is excellent for raining days but can get busy occasionally, the outdoor pool & bar area great for sunny days & sun terraces are good too. This hotel is in a great location and, has a good restaurant which offers a buffet breakfast with a great variety of things. The rooms are neat and tidy and the views from some of them are spectacular. I Would recommend for smaller groups, families and or solo travellers.

This hotel is located at the top of a hill, so not for people with bad legs. It is located in a quiet and peaceful area, so perfect for people who want peace and quiet. The restaurant by the pool makes nice burgers, sandwiches, etc. The pool is large enough to swim a few laps. We enjoyed our 10 day stay, 3-4 of which were spent on the hotel grounds, the rest of the days, we spent on trips around the island.

Overall the property was pretty poor. The staff were nice enough however facilities were much lacking. The room was spacey but one of the rooms had no fan or air conditioning and so was too hot to sleep in. The location was not very accessible located at the top of a large hill and so getting luggage up was difficult. The hotel was noisy and one of the rooms was located with the window facing inwards towards a wall.

ATTENTION! Woke up one morning to use the washroom and there was an extremely massive coackroach i dont understand how it even got in if we are in the top floor. On the maps it says estrelicia is the bottom hotel and its not its the top one. You need to walk up a hill almost 100 meters to reach your hotel. The photos is shows when you book your staying are not the same photos because mine looked nothing like the photo's i wish i could post the photos. There is a lot of people that only stayed one night and asked for the money back and found another hotel. We had to clean the washroom when we arrived because it wasnt cleaned properly. The breakfast buffet is nothing special. I will not come back.

Very expensive for what this hotel has to offer. The pictures of the listings do not match with the bedrooms. No air conditioner, rooms werent ready at time for our check-in, cables hang around, lack of electric plugs and sink was bloaked. Also no kettle/tea/coffee facilities. And very poorly choice of breakfast buffet.

Cons - a couple of times I spoke to the reception staff they were not very warm, barely looked at me or greeted me. Not all of them but a couple of them I felt like I was bothering them. The room I stayed in was tired with terrible sound proofing, people in the corridor sounded like they were in my room. I also had a towel in my room that was covered in fluff which when I picked it up and gave it a shake, so much fell off onto the floor mat it was very weird and I couldn’t believe a housekeeper put that towel in my bathroom for me to use.

This hotel is located at the top of a hill, so not for people with bad legs. It is located in a quiet and peaceful area, so perfect for people who want peace and quiet. The restaurant by the pool makes nice burgers, sandwiches, etc. The pool is large enough to swim a few laps. We enjoyed our 10 day stay, 3-4 of which were spent on the hotel grounds, the rest of the days, we spent on trips around the island.

This hotel was a great location for us with walkable access to downtown Funchal (about 30 minute walk). Good restaurants nearby and downtown. Hotel is up on a hill (about 70 meters of considerable incline), so that was unexpected, but for us did not create an issue. Parking is limited at this property and we were not aware originally that you could reserve the parking ahead of time and for an additional fee (7 euro per day). The staff were very helpful however and offered off site parking to us nearby for the same fee. Again, not a problem for us, but may be an issue for some (150 meters away from the hotel). Rooms were standard (we did not have a balcony), but this is not a very new property, so there is no air conditioning in the rooms. Good breakfast with good options and fresh bread and buns everyday. The property also offers dinner options on site, but we chose to eat outside of the hotel. This was a good stay and we were thankful that when our flight got delayed we were able to stay at the hotel and our room for an additional night. The staff was helpful and even provided us with a kettle for our room (we did not bring our own as we came from Canada).

Very unhelpful and unpleasant front desk staff throughout our stay. Room was poorly equipped, safe was broken, sliding balcony doors did not close properly, no fridge or basic room amenities. Overall very disappointing stay. Only positives were the cleaning staff and the breakfast buffet staff (both of which could provide some training to the front desk and evening restaurant staff on customer service).
