The Windsor Hotel

Floorboards in corridor outside room were very noisy. Also, disco in building over the road was loud, with people shouting intil 2:30am. The lift in the hotel wasn't working. Apart from that, the room was excellent, and the staff were friendly and helpful. And pricing was competitive.

Great value for money, close to seafront and town centre. Convenient for Metro too. Great that there's parking space although I'm not sure if there would be enough spots for everyone when the hotel is fully booked.

Another great stay. Cheap and Cheerful..Been here several times now. Staff very friendly. Our Cockapoo Service Dog isn't charged for accomodation which is also appreciated. Parking is easy and theres also plenty local pubs and eateries where dogs are welcome. We'll be back.again :-)

What a tired building. Check-in was ok, told the lift was broken so used stairs - OK. Room extremely hot & stuffy. Went to open windows & couldn't. Went down to reception, asked for a room fan - none available. Bed OK, bathroom sink all cracked & broken. Breakfast OK but to be given juice in kiddies 50p cartons was not great! Wasn't even cold so gave it back. Only a 1 night stay but would not return.

Large room, large bathroom, unfortunately the lift was not working, and we were on the second floor! Great room though. Would have been nice to take breakfast to our room, as it was early serving and early finishing 7 - 9 we were on holiday after all!

Warm room, hot water, comfortable room. Lift still not working and 3 floors with luggage is not great.

The only criticism was that the lift was out of order. Also, wifi was poor.

Yes the hotel is dated and the lift doesn’t work but the place is clean and the staff are very friendly and helpful! Could do with getting black out curtains!

Was near beach and town...nice hotel but no lift working and lots off stairs to get to our room..room big..clean .except plug hole needs replacing rather yucky looking and slow to drain..but can park car safe which is a big plus...reception friendly

Passage ways smell of weed/pot. Rooms dusty,capets stained, curtains falling off railing, mould on walls and in shower, breakfast not good.

The room hadnt been cleaned, smashed mirror, stains around toilet and on bed clothes. Diety cup in sink. I didnt stay so i would like a refund please

Didn't like the place at all ,dirty, beds dirty stained, floor dirty and stained. Lift not wirking abd my friend is disabled we were on the second floor, just absolutely horrendous.do NOT stay there x

Staff were friendly and helpful. Rooms were generous in size, clean and comfortable. Would definitely stay there again and have no hesitation in recommending to others.

The staff were lovely, we had a small dog with us so had to eat breakfast in the rum down bar, the room was smelling on entrance, the carpet was stained, the towels were never changed over 5 days,

Always a nice stay. Stayed several times. Yes it's a little dated but the beds are always clean and comfortable and the price is appropriate. The staff are always lovely. We'll be back again :-)

Thoroughly enjoyed my two night stay, the hotel is less than 10 minutes walk from the Metro Station, 2 minutes walk from the seafront and handy for local bars and restaurants. Room was clean and spacious. Breakfast was excellent and the staff were all very friendly. Would definitely stay here again.

Unfortunately the state of the room especially the carpet ruined my stay in Whitley Bay. The carpet was disgusting. No room should be sold in that condition. If i hadnt of paid in advance i would of checked out immediately.

The staff were amazing and the hotel was super clean. The shower was brilliant, hot and powerful. Lovely big bathroom and room. Sadly beds were a little tired and the springs would pop when you turned over in your sleep. The floor boards in the hotel were so creaky you literally couldn’t be quiet but other hotel guests were running down the corridors in the early hours which was a little off putting. Parking was great and location was great just a few steps from the sea front. For the price it was a great stay overall. Thanks Whitely Bay and The Windsor

Great location, no real issues. Friendly staff and clean linens and towels. Room 20 with sea views much appreciated. Room was too warm but we had taken a fan along with us and the decor was dated and tired. Overall great value for money and we would definitely stay again.

Great value for money hotel, ideal location and staff very helpful. We even had a lovely sea view. This is the second time we have stayed and wouldn’t hesitate to stay again. It isn’t 5 star but it’s clean and more than adequate for what we needed.

Room was comfortable, plenty of room, had bath and shower. Wi-Fi wasn’t very reliable, would have liked to be able to open the window more due to heat but it was restricted. Coffee and tea in room were poor quality.

The only criticism was that the lift was out of order. Also, wifi was poor.

I did not enjoy my stay at the Windsor Hotel. The Double en suite room i stayed in was immaculate & well presented. However personally i feel the Windsor is an overpriced Hotel. I would of liked a smart tv, a small fridge in room & the wifi to fully work. I would not recommend The Windsor Hotel & i would never choose to stay there again.

Staff were absolutely excellent. Could not fault there service, very accommodating and extremely helpful.

On the first night we were awoken at 3am by shouting in the corridor at 3.37 I started calling the hotel on their phone to complain about the noise obviously a heated argument that kept reoccurring. I eventually got an answer at 4.51 I complained to the gentleman that answered the phone and he told me he was in the process of calling the police. Over the next hour we heard the night porter twice knock on a door announcing his presence and having a conversation with someone. We eventually got back to sleep after 6am. The following morning we asked the receptionist what had happened she said nothing had been logged and she had no knowledge about it. We mentioned it to other staff that also had no knowledge. On checking out the manager was present but she said she also had no knowledge but should have been told and would look into it. Result was we were shattered the next day having paid for a nights rest we did not get not much fun on a 3 day break.

We enjoyed a two night stay in a twin room. Although the hotel is looking tired and worn in places, it is clean and the room was spacious and quiet at night. It is located just near the promenade and not far from shops, restaurants and ideal for the metro station. The staff were so lovely and helpful and sorted the troublesome window promptly. It is not high end but the price reflects that and it was great for a short getaway.

Staff efficient and friendly. Room clean. Hotel a little dated but ideally located with the bonus of free safe parking. Been to the Windsor numerous times. Always a comfortable stay.

Given some of the reviews, i probably wouldn't have booked this, but i had no other choices. I was therefore really pleasantly surprised. Sure, some areas need updating but thats nothing, the room was clean, comfortable and everything worked. Service from ALL staff was excellent, friendly and genuine, the bed was comfortable, the shower was great and there was plenty of shower gel etc. Some people moaned about the nightclub across the road but my room was at the back so i heard nothing. Bar area was a bit dated but no more than many pubs you go to and the furnishings were in good nick and comfortable. Parking was easy to find and was secure. Some people have moaned about the current roadworks but these are no big deal - they do not affect accessibility at all. Breakfast choice was great and well cooked. Thanks

Super friendly staff, rooms warm, clean and comfortable. Breakfast hot, cooked on request, limited selection if you are fussy but plenty otherwise.only negatives were, general maintenance not kept up to, peeling wallpaper, seals around the bath etc needs renewing and lastly the cigarette ends immediately outside were never swept up in the time we were there, and didn't look as if they had been done for a while, so first impression not good. We would however stay again.

We were left in a situation which involved us needing to find a hotel quickly. The staff were courteous, and accommodating. It was exactly what we needed after the debacle of the previous booking elsewhere

Worst stay ever... To start, at check in we were told the hotel was fully booked...LIE... Lift broken, so all us disabled individuals had to walk up the stairs with NO help. When we arrived at the rooms, all rooms were booked and co firmed as twin rooms, there were 3 family rooms, 1 tiny double room and 1 twin room. ALL rooms were filthy. One room had ripped curtains big stains on the carpet and to top it off a USED CONDON WAS JUST THROWN ON THE FLOOR outside one of the rooms. 1 room had a broken kettle, called reception to advise, a new on was brought uo. When we questioned the apparent assistant manager about the cleanliness of the room she saod ITS NOT MY HITRL and promptly left. Rrceotion didnt even know what rooms they had given us guests as i was called on my mobile asking ME to give them.room numbers of some guests... Terrible service. During the night, all that could be heard was drunk idiots running up and down the halls, banging on doors shouting and waking people up Next day we complained at reception but was told there was nothing they could do as the manager who was meant to be on duty did not show up!!! Skipped breakfast as if the main hotel was so dirty and disgusting, what would the breakfast be like. Disgusting hotel, disgusting staff behaviour... Refund rquest in on the way for the whole 5 rooms we booked... Personally, i think this is either a bail.hostel or a benefits hostel NOT a hotel.for regular guests...

Ultimately this hotel is what it is! Don’t expect the Ritz (after all you’re not paying a lot for it) Typical seaside town hotel. Very dated and tired but perfectly acceptable Situated opposite a busy nightclub which if that’s not your thing will cause issues. Staff we friendly and breakfast was lovely

Excellent location, friendly helpful staff.

Nice hotel, close to the beach. parking was ok for us, but its limited. there is a nightclub opposite, that would have been annoying if we had to keep a window open. Please change the picture, as it has nothing to do with the hotel

Very cheap hotel, 50m from the sea, with free off road car parking. Yes it’s run down - but it cost less than a restaurant meal for 2 or a taxi ride. People need to take a chill pill - what do you expect for £42 on a Saturday night?

A good budget hotel. Good breakfast

Good location. Friendly staff . Excellent breakfast Well heated rooms

Hotel very run down. Hotel bar had nothing on draught just a few bottles of beer and cheap wine also a few spirits. Breakfast was ok. But orange juice out of a small carton with a straw and you had to make your own coffee (nescafe instant). Twin Room was a good size. Bathroom was clean. Decor in rooms was tired. Odd bits of carpet, room was full of dustwebs, also what looked like dried blood on wall next to one of the beds, probably the worst mattress ive ever slept on, was like sleeping on a bag of stones. Outside of hotel looks tired and drab, front bit of land full of rubbish. Pictures on website are titally different to hotel when you get there, just a tired run down hotel. Wont be viditing again
