Hotel Avenida - Oceanside Camp Pendleton

Little less than expected for a place that seemed to be “renovated” obviously cheaper hotels you have to expect a little grime. But I’ve stayed in a few in the area and this one I just felt dirty and like bugs were coming out to get me. The bathroom had this odd smell that made me want to vomit. This place just overall felt icky and like you were going to catch some skin rash from being in the room. Place needs a paint job lots of years shown on the baseboards. If you aren’t weird about germs this place isn’t terrible. Lots of normal people renting the rooms. Didn’t not feel tooo sketchy. Front staff was nice - pool looked clean and maintained (did not go to it) cleaners were nice. LOCATION- this is very close to downtown and all the food and shopping you could probably just walk there if you didn’t mind. It was loud when we came due to protest and tons of honking for hours but I’m sure that’s not always happening. Enjoyed the convenience of the location - beach is right there!

Unfortunately the property is very run down. I specifically reserved lodging here because I thought it would be cheap/no frills (like Motel 6 for the most part) so was not expecting much, but this was bad. The AC/heater did not work. There was a bad sewer smell coming into the room that got much worse when running the shower. Pool was filled with dirty brown water. The property is depressingly run down. Perhaps the owners are trying to renovate. I'd pay the extra $20 to $30 a night and stay somewhere nicer next time.

Sketchy, nervous Marijuana users near the se corner of building at night and early morning and also strange chemical vapors late. Ice machine not easily accessible. Bed was soft. Careful in the shower--heavy glass walls and cramped. I hear Jay-manager at night--Guess he can't sleep.

Pool & breakfast & friendly, helpful staff.

The wifi didn't work, the pool was locked, the room had some kind of stains on the walls and ceiling,the ceiling above the shower had a hole, the blanket was stained, no breakfast and coffee for the customers. We asked the morning person 4 times to come and fixed the cable and he never did. It took the swing shift person to fix it for our son

Pleasant check in, they called us to confirm check in time. Clean and somewhat maintaintaned but old. Rust on fixtures in bathroom and plumbing behind toilet. Rust didn't bother us. Repainted and clean vinyl flooring. No one at service counter after 9ish pm to 8am to maintain safety. Homeless sleeping behind hotel, but didn't interact with guests. Active casino behind hotel and two nearby restaurants closed, one shares a parking lot. Businesses around didn't bother us. Casino entrance/exit is away from hotel. Property sits right next to very busy and noisy highway. Breakfast/coffee starts at 8a after we left each morning for work. No coffee pot in room. But we did have a frig and microwave. Pool was in good shape. Property was fully booked and while in room never heard our neighbors even through walls. We stayed in middle on 2nd floor. We were limited to variety of hotels do to several conventions/activities in San Diego and this being a very last minute business trip, so we made due. Glad it was clean inside. They have no control over closed restaurants and highway. But should report homelessness, have earlier breakfast/coffee hours, and someone posted in office through the night. I mentioned businesses around and highway because this could potentially lead to cars being broken into. We didn't leave ANYTHING in our car and did feel safe in our room.

The surrounding area felt very unsafe. I was super uncomfortable leaving my car in the parking lot.

Card reader machine was down, at 1 am in the not best part of town just myself and my 2 daughters the property wanted me to pull 800$ out of an ATM “conveniently” located on the property??? When the hotel accepts cash instead of card for the stay they don’t have to pay any service related charges to third parties such as Expedia. The breakfast provided was not much of a breakfast- granola bar, fruit and 2 types of cereal, neither of which my daughter would touch, the staff were not particularly friendly or helpful, when a vending machine took a five dollar bill for 1 coke and I spoke to the gentleman at the front desk he said simply said sorry we don’t own the machine. Finally the room was clean enough and was cleaned daily but there were blood stains on the ceiling above the beds that I noticed on our second night. The pool was definitely the seller at this place.

Overall the property was decent but I rated as a 3 star because of the location and the seedy people that came around it made me feel very uncomfortable. The rooms were old but furnished and decorated decent. Bathroom was clean but tired looking. Hot water was good in the shower, the beds had nice sheets and covers but didn’t look fresh. This was a basic hotel that servers the purpose of providing a place to sleep for the night.

Upon arrival I checked in as normal. When I got to the room I didn't inspection before I brought my things in. The moment I walked in there was a roach that crawled from underneath the refrigerator to underneath the bed. I immediately called the front desk. She said she would be there soon to inspect. I showed her where I saw the roach and she completely ignored me, walked straight to the restroom and walked right out of the room. She told me to meet her at the front desk so I drove around by the time I got there I decided not to stay.. I checked out letting her know I was not interested in being moved. Because I prepaid for the room and paid the deposit upon my arrival I was expecting a refund. The front desk wanted to argue but I left. I have yet to receive my money back. When I called their customer service they said I did not show up which was a completely lie. Will never stay at this hotel and I recommend everyone to stay clear.

This hotel was horrible. Very dirty. Food on the floor. Dirty under the bed and found a sock. Super tiny room. Right next to freeway and gas station. Across from an abandoned building that had boarded up windows. Bad area with homeless

The hotel is within a 7 minute drive from Oceanside Pier. The room was clean and the bed and pillows were comfortable. The front desk person said there was breakfast, but they only offered coffee, cereal, fruit, and granola bars, which is a good snack. My only complaint was the sewer smell from the bathroom. We had to keep the bathroom room close, so the smell did not come into the room.

Our stay was horrible, we had nothing but issues during our stay. I’ll start with the cleanliness, stains on the sheets, trash under the bed and mouse droppings in the bathroom. The smell of the room and bathroom is horrible, there is a smell of rotting and sewer water and it gets really bad when you run any water. I also wanna preface this that it is a social standard for places of this nature to provide hair wash, soap and body wash. They had nothing of the sort, so if you’re there for more than a day be prepared to bring your own or buy it from a local store. On top of ALL of that our bed was broken. the left side of the bed when put any pressure on it bent down and had no support. Both me and my fiancé had to sleep on the middle and right half of the bed. Overall I wouldn’t recommend this place at all.

This place is so beat down! Bugs in the room constant stench of weed in the room! Stuff on the sheets and walls and even the ceiling!!

I kid you not, the lobby reeked of a urine odor when we checked in and out of this place! In our room, the bedsheets were stained, panels on the bathroom cabinet were falling apart, and the hair dryer unit on the wall was anchored by only one screw. The air conditioner had rust and mold inside of it and there was so much freezer build up of ice that there wasn't any room left for our frozen dinner. I'm shocked that this place is still in business! I've stayed in other budget hotels but this is the worst one so far!

Booked a King bed unavailable upon check in gave two full beds. Bathroom mold on floor boards and bathroom smelled like mold

Was filthy dirty, walls needed to be painted to at least cover up all the dirt. My dog pulled out 2 dirty socks from under the bed. Also found $.22 cents on the floor.

They gave me room 115 not only the room was extremely dirty but there was a leak of sewage water coming from the ceiling and the smell was awful! I complaint to the front desk and the manager came with extra towels and placed them over the water that was all over the floor. I wouldn't recommend this place ever in fact I'm gonna report it to the city of Oceanside because this location is violatin health codes.

Tv didn’t work, asked to move rooms and wasn’t accommodated. Place was clean and had nice upgrades but when I wanted to relax and watch tv that wasn’t an option. AC worked a little but was really hot most of the night

When we initially pulled up, we were confused, because we were looking for “Hotel Avenida” and that name was not displayed anywhere that we noticed. The front desk staff were friendly and welcoming. Our room was clean, but run down. “You get what you pay for” in this situation. The walls are extremely thin. The road noise was extremely disrupting & I was woken up before the sun rose by the garbage truck. If you’re a light sleeper like I am, beware!! It was nice that there were several stores within reasonable walking distance. Overall, for the price, this place is exactly what you should expect. We only stayed one night, so it was tolerable. Would not stay again due to road noise, but if it weren’t for that, it’s a great stay on a budget!

Water in shower was broken, impossible to get a comfortable temperature, valve seemed to be set up backwards? Bed was comfortable, room not the cleanest, hairs in bathroom/on towels. A/c worked well, tv was decent.

I got this place because it was cheaper, but despite saving some money I would not stay here again. The parking lot area was a hangout spot for folks down on their luck and some people seemingly doing some illegal stuff. It was loud because of the freeway, but at least that was expected. It was also loud in that you could hear and feel every step of people in the hallway or going up the stairs. The wifi was "out" and the manager made it seem like that was normal, with urgency to get it fixed.

Coffee was not available until 8:00 a.m., not convenient for people on business that need to be out early. Only offerings were old apples and kid-sized, not healthy, granola bars. Apparently office itself doesn't open 'til 8:00 cause when I went, guy was in pajamas.

Staff was rude and ended call when needed to communicate to stay an extra night. Once guests arrived to hotel staff proceeded to cuss out and left property because of misunderstandings. Property had no staff for an hour because of this event.

This hotel did not honor our reservation and we had to sleep in our car. Super rude and demeaning when we spoke to them on the phone about it. terrible

I checked in with my name, reservation number and ID and was told that I would need to be providing a 100 dollar security deposit. Security deposits are a fairly common occurrence whenever I am checking into a hotel, so I didn’t think twice about it. It did strike me weird that the deposit was actually more than a single night in the room, but I didn’t think much of it. The rest of the check in went smooth and I headed towards my room. I arrived to the room and at first glance things seemed ok. I don’t expect much more than a safe, clean, and quiet room so my standards aren’t very high. One of the beds in my room had moist bedding on it. Room had no do not disturb sign. But other than that I was fine. I take a shower later into the night and while the shower facilities appeared to be the nicest looking amenities there they proved to be the biggest hassle. The drain in the shower quickly became backed up. I turned the shower off and dried up. Shortly after I received a cal from the front desk telling me to check my bathroom because the room below me was complaining of leaking water. I let the clerk know the floor was relatively dry and I noticed the shower drain had clogged. He seemed to accept this answer and hung up. Later that morning I stop by the front desk as I was leaving to ask if the wanted to check my room. They declined at the time. This was a week ago. I have yet to receive my deposit back on my card.

OYO Avenida Oceanside,CA From beginning: PARI KOLLI- Front Desk I pulled up, the front desk woman( PARI KOLLI is her name!) locked the lobby AS I WAS PARKED IN FRONT to check in. I right away explained to her that I already do not feel comfortable staying here as a very young girl and completely out of place. -woman’s intuition was exactly that. She said okay, how about you head to your room, I’ll give you (Haha) 30 minutes and if you do not feel safe please call me and I will accommodate you. -Unsafe -Odd noises -Loud sketchy people -Drug devices outside -The room: Absolutely UNSANITARY for a human being. I knew I wouldn’t, but still went. Tried to call (hotel phone has no option for front desk,) so I called their number online and got sent to Operations every time. Arman (operator) and I tried to call her 6+ times. Absolutely absurd & unprofessional. Well, as we called multiple times. (All on file as well) No answer all night. A different employee I got sent to said verbatim “oh sorry well if they aren’t answering I don’t know what to tell you… etc. (All names, recordings on my end applicable also.) I kept trying and trying to get ahold of anyone, as I felt unsafe leaving my room. Hearing noises, junkies, scary things and not to mention how absolutely UNSANITARY this property is. (All images provided.) - NO communication from a young girl who is ALONE. - I did not sleep, too frightened & uncomfortable. -Felt STUCK.

Be careful when booking online with this hotel. I booked through EXPEDIA.com and when I arrived to check in, the employee did not want me to pay with a card and I had no choice but to pay in cash. The next day when I checked out I realized that I had been charged twice, in cash and also by this company "OYO" that I didn't know existed. The employee / manager told me that she didn't know what I was talking about and that she didn't know the person who had checked me in the day before. She even made excuses for not returning the deposit that I also left in cash. (100 dollars) Anyway, they charged me twice for the night I was there and it seems they have no intention of refunding the extra amount... Expedia called them and they lied, telling me that I never paid them in cash... The bank is already handling this claim, but the disappointment of this scam can't be taken away from you by these people who come to do "business" from the country of India.

Literally the worst stay I’ve ever had. They didn’t even attempt to clean. The staff was also rude & didn’t have anything extra! It wasn’t even a “get what you paid for” situation. They told me they’d give me my money back after checking out early but they lied.

Close to Ocean and their is a poker room there as well so if you play poker thats the SPOT lots of games and Blackjack Casino's called Ocean's eleven

The location is great right by the exit and the beach isn't far away. Stores accessible within minutes walk.

Easy to get to the property. No wait. Close to pier and food 15 minute walk. There is a Casino next door.

It advertises breakfast and all they had was bananas and coffee. Guest in room next to us was beating a woman and I called front desk because I felt unsafe and nothing was done. Scary location

None of the advertised amenities existed. NO breakfast. NO coffee or tea. NO coffee pot anywhere. NO WiFi in the rooms. NO ice. Blow dryer had to be specially requested. Only Sorry. We had extra out of pocket expenses for replacing the breakfasts, coffee and tea that had been advertised. Warnings of Hurricane Hilary made us change our plans and cancel Sunday night’s reservation. It took two days and hours on the phone to get just a partial refund. The manager was conveniently unavailable.

Decrepit old Econolodge that someone painted over the dirty walls and then added some vroken bathroom fixtures and a new mattress. Smelled like mildew. I left early. Ifnyou want dirt cheap, here it is. Breakfast was a few different fruits and sugared cereals. Not impressed. Guy who ran ot was just rude. Had awarning for everything and an assumption of what most of his guests do. Gross. Was stuck becaise it was paid for and a holiday weekend. At least it is cheap. Dont let the pictures fool you. They were taken on the best day. Mildew smell everywhere. Pluses, air conditioning worked. Fridge and microwave worked. Sink was clogged. Busted fixtures. Dirty walls and surfaces

No free breakfast as advertised. False advertisement. Only reason I booked my stay here. Bathroom sink had a massive crack in it.

This is a budget hotel but that does not mean it should not be kept clean or kept in good condition. The room, while they cleaned it before our arrival, it was not done well. Floors were still somewhat dirty. Our matters was old, saggy Not very comfortable at all. They said they offered to go breakfast but it was just coffee. Nothing wrong with that, just disclose it upfront.
