Motel 6-Oceanside, CA

This hotel has no pool or outdoor area. It was shutdown by the city and they still advertise it as if it was operational. Liars!

Pool was shut down by health department. Homeless people on street right outside property.

I recently stayed at this motel that had a decent location for our destination, but unfortunately, it was quite rundown. The rooms were lacking towels and toiletries, and I had to go get an iron and blow dryer because they were not provided in the room. The limited staff in the office made it challenging to get assistance. The parking lot was very loud, which made it difficult to get a good night's sleep. The room itself was dusty, especially under the beds, and it didn't seem like there was a thorough cleaning done. The worst part was that the motel was super overpriced for the quality of service and amenities provided. Additionally, the pool was closed since April 2023 due to safety issues with the gates. Needless to say, I won't be staying here again.

Nice central location, close to the beach. The room was smaller than I thought, and it offers zero amenities. Coin laundry is cash only and vending machine prices were super high. If you’re going just to shower and sleep, this motel is fine. Not the cleanest, but not the worst. Lots of pot smoking smell during our stay from other guests.

Shower was way too small the curtain was all over me. There was a roach in the bathroom. Tv was damaged so picture wasn't conpletely clear. Ice machine didnt work. Considering what i paid, not up to par

Water pressure in room 106 was very weak. Shower had weak stream on warm setting and the toilet never flushed properly. The WiFi did work in my room because the signal was too weak. The lady that checked in was in a foul mood. The manager in the morning was very nice. Overall it was a decent stay and the most important amenity is that they are dog friendly with many areas for your dog to sniff around.

I was very disappointed, was looking forward to being able to swim, pool was closed. Walked into room pulled back sheet and it had a hair in the sheets, no comfortable chair to sit in and no A/C. Deadbolt on door didn't work, so felt unsafe. They would not refund my first night, but since I didn't feel safe I left and went to a nicer hotel.

Room smelled like cigarettes. Bathroom was disgusting. Brown marks on the toilet seat. Shower was full of mold and looked like it had never been cleaned before. Unacceptable conditions. Poor experience.

There was blood stains All over the pillows and sheets! And to makes matters worse I didn’t notice it because I got there late at night, I just went straight to be and woke up to this and i want to throw up just thinking about it. To makes matters worse Hotels.com probably won’t care because Motel 6 didn’t give a damn when I showed them the mess. The front desk people just laughed and said “that isn’t blood sir, we clean the rooms every day” then what in the world is it ? I’m so disgusted and angry! I’ll never stay here again. I hope I didn’t catch a disease either, people be careful if you stay here.

The room was not clean properly. Has a problem with roaches. Loud was waken up by loud music and loud people.

Dirty room hair on the beds sink and shower

Cockroaches, very very dirty bathroom, no wifi, warm fridge. Overall, horrible experience. Spend the extra money to go somewhere nicer. Not worth the low price at all. It looked like housekeeping didn’t even clean between guests…. The bathroom sink had someone else’s hair in it, and caked on chunks in it. Toilet had stains in it. Awful… even for a motel.

noce enough staff but room was smelly and not clean. the floors and bathroom were dirty and would have greatly benefited from a simple wipe down. got my night's sleep and the parking lot was well lit

It was not as clean as it should have been the first thing i saw was the roach I killed it there was finger prints on the wall you could see the dust on the tv the head board makeup on the bathroom sink poop stain in the toilet the sink was clogged with food i bought disinfected wipes wiped it down There was hair in the bed and pillow cases I lysol sprayed it and put a covering over the bed yet i was charged a 50 dollar cleaning fee i should be sendind them a 50 dollar cleaning fee smf

Trust me when I say, if you're thinking "wow! This looks great for a motel 6!" It isn't. Look, it was one night, so we survived. However, the lights were dim, the vanity light fixture was even broken. The shower floor and toilet had black stains, marks, and build up. The toilet had a little mold even. The floors weren't fully cleaned and there were pieces of dog food here and there. Underneath our stained sheets there was dog hair stuck to the mattress. We checked because the overall presentation had us worried about bed bugs. None of those thankfully. Here's what we thought, well it's just one night, we just need a clean bed. We ended up buying our own blankets from Walmart to lay on top of a "fresh" set of sheets so that it felt clean. Also, while it is a smoke free area, no one respects that rule. The room smelled like cigarettes. Very noisy by the freeway as well so we had to use white noise and blast the AC. Trust me fellow traveler, pay the extra for the nicer place or go with that air bnb. You will sleep so much better.

Front Desk and Housekeeping helpful and friendly

The toilet in the room was broken. Pillows and sheets were dirty. Ended up going to the Walmart down the road and buying sheets and pillows. The window didn’t have a lock. Just a piece of wood jammed in the window. Lots of noise.

Room are clean, beds are ok. Sometimes youvhear way too much drama at 1am. For the price is understandable

Not a comfortable stay. Old pillows, outdated small shower, and directly next to a loud, busy freeway.

No shampoo nor conditioner. No ironing unit. Noisy.

The lights next to the bed in our motel room did not work and when we informed the night manager of this, she told us that we should have checked the lights when we checked in at 3:00 p.m., and that going forward she would recommend we do this when we first check in at any motel/hotel we stay at. Guess I got schooled on what to do the next time I check into a motel/hotel, but, unfortunately, the light was unable to be fixed at that time since it was after hours, about 9:00 p.m., and maintenance was not available. I thank the Motel 6 Manager for the enlightening lecture and for providing confirmation that I won't be staying at a Motel 6 in the future.

The wonderful staff. Friendly, kind and helpful.

Check in was sketchy. It took over 5 minutes to come to the window. It was about 9pm and lobby was locked. The room didn’t look like the photos. The beds were awful and on metal frames that were loud every time you moved. Towels were stiff and thin. No tissue or Kleenex. Door wouldn’t securely shut or lock. Homeless/strung out man in parking lot talking to himself and taking off his pants. We felt unsafe and uncomfortable.

The front desk employees are the BEST! Check-in was quick and easy. I extended my stay last-minute and the young lady made it happen! Thanks so much!

FIRST I COULDN'T FIND MY CONFIRMATION NUMBER. SO THE CLERK SAID HE COULDN'T HELP ME (THAT MUST BE WRONG ISN'T THERE A PHN NUMBER OR EMAIL ADDRESS FOR THIS SORT OF THING)? THE RM I RESERVED HAD A REFER. & MICRO. W/ ONE QUEENSIZE BED. I HAD TO RENT A RM FOR $100 PLUS $45 DEPOSIT. THE RM WAS FILTHY. THE SHOWER HAD A HOLE UNDERNEATH THE FLOORING. IF STOOD ON A LEG COULD H AVE GONE THRU THE FLOOR. I HAD TO PAY ADDITIONAL $6 FOR A REFER TO BE BROUGHT IN AND DIDN'T HAVE A MICRO. I FINALLY FOUND MY CONFIRMATION FROM HOTELS.COM I WENT TO THE OFC THEY SAID IT DIDN'T MAKE A DIFFERENCE. I CALLED THE OFC 3 X'S ASKINGT FOR THE INTERNET PASSWORD BECAUSE I COULDN'T UNDERSTAND THE CLERK. I NEVER GOT THE PASSWORD. I STAY AT MOTEL SIX QUITE A BIT.USUALLY EVERYTHING GOES SMOOTH. THIS STAY WAS A DISASTER. I WAS VERY DISAPOINTED.

Convenient location, clean rooms, helpful staff.

Room was clean but we didn’t get any room service we had to ask for towels at the front desk. Service was bad, no one was ever there every time we had to go to the reception. Took maybe 10min to check out because we weee all waiting for someone to come out to the front desk

Helpful and friendly staff, clean rooms, well kept property.

The manager was absolutely rude and unprofessional. Walked into a room reeking of cat urine and grease chunks in the floor. Asked for another room immediately after discovering how bad it was and was interrogated by the same supposed manager as she said she needed to come physically inspect the room. Upon doing so she proceeded to blame my fiancée and myself of creating the issue and denied giving us another room. I said we will accept a full refund or another room and she said she’d refund but to get everything out of the room first. After all that, I learned we had to contact hotels.com to get a refund. Still going through that process but hopeful they will accomadate as we had to pay for another room elsewhere.

It’s not the property, but the location, as it is the vagrants and ne’er-do-wells milling about like bottom feeders. It might sound petty, and I’m glad someone could use it, but I had a couple of gallon water jugs taken out of my pickup bed. I wouldn’t leave anything of value in sight, or even leave it in the car. Sigh, it is a sign of the times.

The property is adjacent to highway 78 and very loud as a result, nothing to be done about that unfortunately. The staff were very good though.

To manu homless within the property

This is a no frills motel… No amenities in the room, the pool isn’t heated, no spa, no breakfast, etc. BUT, it was mostly clean, the office staff were wonderful, it was safe, it’s in a great location (food, grocery shopping, coffee, fun all within a 5 min walk), and for the price I can not complain!

A lot of homeless in the area

We like the Motel 6 pets-stay-free policy, since we have 2 dogs. I'm basing my review on what's reasonable for an economy hotel. The outstanding feature here was how helpful the staff were, especially the handyman who got our TV working and then did some cleaning in the room that was missed by the cleaner. The pool area is nice. Plenty of restaurants & shopping in walking distance.

Overall the hotel is nice. There is a grocery store and fast food restaurants at walking distance. Quiet at night as well.

Super friendly staff at check in. Parking and access to room was convenient. Located right off the freeway. There’s a grocery store across the street as well as Starbucks and El Pollo Loco. Walmart is less than a 1/4 mile around the corner.

The staff is nice and accommodating. While close to the freeway and convenient, there are quite a few homeless in the area. The room was clean. We could not call out on the room telephone though, and had to call the office and ask them to do it. We tried calling into the room and even though the ringer was on, it did not ring. Otherwise, good stay.

The best motel in all of north county for location, nicely renovated rooms, friendly staff and quiet. New heat & cool units in each room are easy to set and are accurate to set and forget. There are plenty of fast food restaurants around and a Walmart within walking distance. Lyft & Uber frequent this motel as needed and all rooms are easy to find. Coffee is available each morning in the lobby until 10:00 a.m. which is seldom seen these days. An elevator which makes it so much easier to check-in & also checkout without having to use stairs.

This property is very, very used. Not newer, very dated, limited amenities, small TV with a bad speaker, A/C was great but the lighting was old and dirty. Limited plugs for charging, no in room coffee, no microwave, little towels and we were warned about the crack beads in the back area that stay regularly. Pillows were very used and room was super small. But the staff were great and helpful!!

Property is huge but too noisy considering its beside the freeway. Bare minimum for amenities- just 1 snall bar of soap, 3 plastic cups. No coffee maker no fridge.
