The room was clean, but felt a bit old. No schampo or condtioner which I thought was standard for an hotel like this. When I checked in I asked for late check out, they told me to ask when I got back at night, asked again, they told me to ask in the morning, asked in the morning and of course it was not possbile, not even 1 extra hour- even though I was happy to pay extra for it. So no I felt a hotel with this many stars should have better options atleast 1 extra hour for late check out.

The room we were allocated was spacious (living room with well equipped kitchen unit, bedroom, bath and terrace). All well furnished and equipped. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Buffet breakfast and dinner were good. The grounds surrounding are mature and beautifully kept. The swimming pools and bars are very relaxing. Indoor pool and gym also. Musical entertainment every evening in a relaxed setting with the bar.

I had a very pleasant stay. I particularly enjoyed the garden and the views. The restaurant staff at breakfast and the evening buffet are very friendly.

Overall we enjoyed our stay. However, with the temperatures being around 29c we found that the ceiling fan was not enough to keep the room cool. We tried sleeping with the balcony doors open but the traffic noise kept us awake as well. We were given another room which was a little better. Bathroom & Kitchen areas need refurbishing, our bathroom was very dirty in places. If you want hot food in the evenings then book the A la Carte restaurant. Restaurant & bar staff were very friendly and helpful. A good location, with 2 small supermarkets down the road but Funchal centre was too far to walk both ways.
