Wir haben kürzlich ein paar Tage im Enotel Magnólia in Funchal verbracht und waren durchweg begeistert. Vom ersten Moment an fiel mir die hohe Sauberkeit auf: Das gesamte Hotel, das Zimmer, die Pools… alles war makellos gepflegt. Das Housekeeping-Team leistete eine hervorragende Arbeit und sorgte dafür, dass wirklich jedes Detail stimmte. Das Personal war unglaublich freundlich und zuvorkommend: Ob Empfang, Service oder im Restaurant: alle begegneten uns mit einem Lächeln und waren immer hilfsbereit. Die Poolbereiche sind sehr schön angelegt, mit bequemen Liegen und einer angenehmen Atmosphäre. Ich genoss es, dort nach Ausflügen zu entspannen. Das stilvolle Ambiente zieht sich durch das ganze Hotel: moderne, geschmackvolle Einrichtung, harmonische Farbgebung und geschmackvolle Akzente. Ein kleiner Wermutstropfen: Die Anzahl der Parkplätze ist limitiert, und es war nicht immer einfach, einen freien Stellplatz zu finden. Wenn man mit dem (Miet-)Auto anreist, sollte man eventuell frühzeitig kommen oder alternative Parkmöglichkeiten nutzen, was allerdings auch nicht einfach ist. I enjoyed my time very much here. I loved that there was parking but depending on the time day of you came back it was often full (only fits about 17 cars), and you had to get creative with parking elsewhere (5 creative spots). If all the creative spots were gone then you would have to park ten minutes away, which luckily didn’t happen to us in early April 2025. I would imagine during high season parking would be very difficult, so don’t stay out too late with your car!! The location was not too far off the highway and offered day tours and hiking tours at reasonable prices on various days of the week. Their indoor pool is NOT INDOOR. It is only covered and is open to the elements, I actually think the indoor pool is colder than the outdoor pool because it is not warmed up by the sun. We used the steam room and dry sauna which was nice but they close early at 7pm which should be open later as people could use it after a long day of hiking! It was relaxing the one time we used it, the second time we just sat in the residual heat. Breakfast buffet is great and has many options, the perfect fuel for exploring the island!! One thing I would say I found annoying is that I often went to the front desk to ask questions and half the time no one would even be there and there is no bell to ring so I would say the service staff were not super helpful at this hotel.

Loved the location, cleanliness and vibe of the hotel with fantastic pools and all staff were great. Only downside was limited parking and I was only able to get a space at the hotel on 1 of 5 days, all other days I had to search for on street parking around 500m away from the hotel. Not ideal but aware there isn’t much can be done about it due to the central location.

Le séjour s’est bien passé, la chambre supérieure était bien grande, mais il n’y avait pas assez de Meubles donc elle paraissait vide. Le petit déjeuner était très bon et le staff gentil et serviable. Le parking disponible sur place était très pratique et l’hôtel est près du centre de Funchal (faisable à pied). Nous avons apprécié aussi la piscine et le massage.

Rooms were kept clean by friendly staff and public areas were too. One gripe was the little gym room where the running machines are were not working as well as no air conditioning and it was quite inadequate for such a big hotel and very disappointing . The food was ok at breakfast as lots of choice and the staff work really hard keeping tables cleared etc. The outside pool and sun beds were clean and usable at all times . I was on 6th floor with a sea view but the noise from the main road below was loud and for that reason I wouldn't stay there again as the patio doors didn't keep noise out and I only managed to sleep after 1.00am till noise started again at 6.00 am .

Die Unterkunft bietet alles, was man für eine Woche Urlaub benötigt. Handtücher und sogar Bademäntel waren ausreichend vorhanden. Das Zimmer wurde jeden Tag gereinigt. Das Zimmer mit Meerblick und Balkon war hervorragend. Das Frühstück war sehr reichhaltig. Wir hatten Glück und erwischten immer noch einen Parkplatz in der hoteleigenen Tiefgarage. Das Hotel liegt auf einer kleinen Anhöhe, ist aber fußläufig zur Altstadt sehr gut zu erreichen. Restaurants und kleine Geschäfte sind in der Nähe. Das Hotel ist auf jeden Fall zu empfehlen.

The staff were amazing, helpful, friendly and genuine, breakfast was delicious with so much choice. The pool was really relaxing with jacuzzi option integrated. The gym equipment probably needs updating in the near future but we happily used it. The entertainment was very nice, top quality and varied. I think the only thing I would have liked would be to get the room floor moped everyday as I noticed dirt and dust from unpacking and coming in with shoes the day before, I felt I couldn’t walk barefoot, just a small detail. Drinks are expensive at the bar as expected. Parking arrangement was great, free and available every time, first come first serve basis. Towels were changed everyday and the linen was changed once while we were there. We would definitely stay there again, in fact we are in the near future.

The wi-fi and internet was fabulous and strong throughout and around the Hotel. The room was spotless each day, the air on superb, the room a nice size with balcony overlooking the sea and mountains, and into Funchal. Hotel staff, location, rooms and pool are superb!

Das Hotel hat eine gute Lage. Man ist zu Fuß schnell in der Stadt, man hat aber auch einen Parkplatz vorm Hotel wenn man sich ein Auto mietet. Das Zimmer war gemütlich und sauber. Nur die Umgebung war sehr laut. Die Pools waren unser Highlight und das Frühstück ein toller Start in den Tag. Wir kommen gern wieder.
Das Hotel hat eine gute Lage. Man ist zu Fuß schnell in der Stadt, man hat aber auch einen Parkplatz vorm Hotel wenn man sich ein Auto mietet. Das Zimmer war gemütlich und sauber. Nur die Umgebung war sehr laut. Die Pools waren unser Highlight und das Frühstück ein toller Start in den Tag. Wir kommen gern wieder.

Nous avons séjournés 7 jours dans cet hôtel. Grande chambre avec 2 lits, propre, bon balcon très apprécié. Service très correct. Excellent petit déjeuner, varié et copieux. Bon emplacement. Malheureusement quelques petits soucis comme une chasse d'eau défaillante, chambre bruyante quelques fois et des oreillers pas à la hauteur du reste de la literie, empêchent de lui donner la note maximum. Le parking est très petit, nous n'en avons jamais profité. Malgré cela nous y avons passé un bon séjour.

Honestly, I thought this hotel was great. I enjoyed my room: clean, with a great shower and it had the benefit of a fridge and a balcony with sea-view. The daily room service was also appreciated. The hotel's team members were friendly and efficient. It had a decent in-house restaurant, but there was also the option of walking for no longer than 10 minutes to get to other restaurants. Good sized pool(s) with plenty of seating.

A really nice hotel situated just outside Funchal's city center, which you can access by leisurely walking into town for 20 to 30 minutes. The room was so spacious and comfortable to stay in. The TV has modern features letting me cast my phone to watch what I wanted to. The room also came with robes and pool towels that could be replaced. The hotel itself has some great amenities like a pool and spa area which was so needed after a day of hiking. Breakfast was super solid. I am taking one star off for the following reasons. 1) Parking is extremely limited on property. I've heard of some guests having to park off property. Luckily I did not encounter this issue as I got back to the hotel by 3pm each day and would walk into town for dinner. 2) my rooms thermostat was very weird like it was on a schedule (like one I have at home). Despite setting the temp to around 22 to 23, it would reset to 24 to 25 degrees at night and i would wake up feeling hot and have to turn down the temp. I tried to address this twice with the front desk who seemingly took notes on this and tried to relay this to their staff, this issue was never fully addressed with me nor resolved. 3) not a fault of the hotel, but something to be mindful of is that some cars like to zoom past in the middle of the night making a lot of noise. I happened to be facing south and would hear cars speed down the main road in mid night. If you are sensitive to noise, make sure you have some good earplugs.

The wi-fi and internet was fabulous and strong throughout and around the Hotel. The room was spotless each day, the air on superb, the room a nice size with balcony overlooking the sea and mountains, and into Funchal. Hotel staff, location, rooms and pool are superb!

Vi trodde at alle rom hadde balkong, men det hadde ikke vårt, som hadde utsikt mot hagen. Tror ikke det gikk frem av informasjon at det ikke var balkong. Prøvde å få byttet til rom med balkong, men det lot seg ikke gjøre. Det var kaldt på badet.

Le séjour s’est bien passé, la chambre supérieure était bien grande, mais il n’y avait pas assez de Meubles donc elle paraissait vide. Le petit déjeuner était très bon et le staff gentil et serviable. Le parking disponible sur place était très pratique et l’hôtel est près du centre de Funchal (faisable à pied). Nous avons apprécié aussi la piscine et le massage.

Rooms were kept clean by friendly staff and public areas were too. One gripe was the little gym room where the running machines are were not working as well as no air conditioning and it was quite inadequate for such a big hotel and very disappointing . The food was ok at breakfast as lots of choice and the staff work really hard keeping tables cleared etc. The outside pool and sun beds were clean and usable at all times . I was on 6th floor with a sea view but the noise from the main road below was loud and for that reason I wouldn't stay there again as the patio doors didn't keep noise out and I only managed to sleep after 1.00am till noise started again at 6.00 am .

Nice stay. There are often clouds over Funchal, so we couldn’t use the outdoor area as much, but it was great when the weather was good. The indoor heated pool was a big plus. Breakfast was okay. Free parking was very convenient, and we rented a car directly from the hotel, which worked out perfectly. There aren’t many parking spaces, but the reception was helpful and found us a spot in the nearby area. We rented a room without a balcony, which I would not recommend — it feels very closed in. The location is great though, you feel like you’re in the middle of everything, and it’s easy to get around.

Hotel was very nice. We had a great corner room with large opening windows so felt as though we were outside. Had view of mountains and of the ocean. It was also very large by any standard. It is not ocean front, but that is not so important as there is no beach in Funchal and our room had an ocean view. Only slightly negative observation was lack of things one usually sees in hotels e.g. no water bottles, no lotion..But that slight defect was overwhelmed by the quality of the room.

I enjoyed my time very much here. I loved that there was parking but depending on the time day of you came back it was often full (only fits about 17 cars), and you had to get creative with parking elsewhere (5 creative spots). If all the creative spots were gone then you would have to park ten minutes away, which luckily didn’t happen to us in early April 2025. I would imagine during high season parking would be very difficult, so don’t stay out too late with your car!! The location was not too far off the highway and offered day tours and hiking tours at reasonable prices on various days of the week. Their indoor pool is NOT INDOOR. It is only covered and is open to the elements, I actually think the indoor pool is colder than the outdoor pool because it is not warmed up by the sun. We used the steam room and dry sauna which was nice but they close early at 7pm which should be open later as people could use it after a long day of hiking! It was relaxing the one time we used it, the second time we just sat in the residual heat. Breakfast buffet is great and has many options, the perfect fuel for exploring the island!! One thing I would say I found annoying is that I often went to the front desk to ask questions and half the time no one would even be there and there is no bell to ring so I would say the service staff were not super helpful at this hotel.

Hotel was nice and clean with bigger room then usually have other hotels. But hotel rooms have very bad air conditioning systems, in room is very hot and there is no option to change A/C temperature at all. And we have very bad experience with one waiter which we reported to hotel reception, he was very stressful and rude and his behavior was like he is some boss of the hotel with his own rules about small details in breakfast and dining area.

Loved our stay at the hotel. Courteous staff, great service, excellent breakfast. Enjoyed the dinner buffet as well in one of the evenings. Easy walk to downtown and a short walk to shops nearby to get water, etc for the room.

We loved everything about this hotel — the cleanliness, location, pool area, and evening entertainment — so much that we’re already considering coming back in a few months. The two young women working at the reception are wonderful: very helpful, friendly, and truly professional. Unfortunately, the same can’t be said about the gentleman working some of the day shifts, who always seemed annoyed when we asked him something. He could definitely learn from his younger colleagues and benefit from some additional customer service training.

Check-in was very easy and it was a 20 minute ride from the airport. The breakfast buffet had all kinds of food available and I never went hungry. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and the hotel is in a pretty good location. There are dining options within a ten minute walk and a small grocery store (SPAR) that is also a ten minute walk in case you forgot something.

We had some last minute travel difficulty and since we had booked through Expedia, we were stuck paying for the night we missed. Neither Expedia nor the hotel would work with us on that. Understandable because we had missed the window, but we had hoped for more forgiving service given our circumstances. The staff at the front desk was hit or miss. Our first encounter at check in was lovely, but then subsequent interactions and a phone call or two were a bit short. One time I went down with a question and the frontdesk was unmanned with no staff in sight for several minutes so I left. The room itself was quiet and clean except for the shower which was poorly designed and absolutely flooded the bathroom and into the rest of the room meaning we had to pile towels on the floor to soak up the water which is gross and unsanitary.

Le séjour a été fabuleux ! De l’hôtel à la visite de l’île. Les dames de la réception sont adorables et de bons conseils. En revanche, dans le restaurant, un homme et une femme n’étaient pas très agréables. À peine « bonjour », des sourires légèrement méprisants.. heureusement que ce n’était pas une généralité. Les autres ont tous été accueillants ! Je recommande vivement cet hôtel ! Mention spéciale aux deux dames de la réception présentes le 21 août à 14h00 : chaleureuses !

Very clean and nice hotel. The area is nice and quiet but not the closest to the main town area. Parking can be tricky sometimes but we managed. Overall, we had a nice experience.

Rooms were kept clean by friendly staff and public areas were too. One gripe was the little gym room where the running machines are were not working as well as no air conditioning and it was quite inadequate for such a big hotel and very disappointing . The food was ok at breakfast as lots of choice and the staff work really hard keeping tables cleared etc. The outside pool and sun beds were clean and usable at all times . I was on 6th floor with a sea view but the noise from the main road below was loud and for that reason I wouldn't stay there again as the patio doors didn't keep noise out and I only managed to sleep after 1.00am till noise started again at 6.00 am .

Loved our stay at the hotel. Courteous staff, great service, excellent breakfast. Enjoyed the dinner buffet as well in one of the evenings. Easy walk to downtown and a short walk to shops nearby to get water, etc for the room.

Lo único que he visto mal, es que lo solicité con parking, y sí, tiene parking pero solo unas pocas plazas, excepto un día, el resto me Tuve que buscar la vida y encontraba sitio a unos 400m. El desayuno buffet, siempre es el mismo, huevos a la plancha , tortilla de patatas embutidos siempre los mismos. No está bien, pero siempre repiten lo mismo.

Wir waren schon das zweite Mal in dem Hotel und waren im Großen und ganzen wieder zufrieden. Es ist gut erreichbar gelegen, die Innenstadt ist in 20 Minuten zu Fuß oder in 10 Minuten mit dem Bus zu erreichen. Wir wussten schon vom letzten Mal: Das Frühstück ist ok. Die Auswahl ist groß, Obst ist sehr gut, warme pikante Speisen sind auch gut. Wurst und Käse sind gerade Durchschnitt und der Speck ist Pressware. Große, gute Auswahl an Brot und Gebäck. Die pancakes sind echt gut. Diesmal haben wir Halbpension dazu gebucht. Naja, auch hier: Auswahl ok, aber bei der Qualität ist definitiv Luft nach oben. Wir haben 3 Mal im Hotel gegessen, 3 Mal dann doch lieber auswärts. Gerade im Urlaub möchte man ja gut essen. Für den Preis des zusätzlichen Abendessens ok, aber mehr auch nicht. Die Anlage ist sehr modern und sauber. Es gibt einen Außenpool und (Highlight!) einen beheizten Innenpool mit 34 Grad. Super nach einem Wandertag! Das Personal ist freundlich, besonders der Barmann :)

This property is immaculate, so clean & well kept inside & out. The staff was great, especially the gentleman that worked the lobby bar during our stay (I can’t remember his name), but he was just amazing. We had lunch one day & cocktails each evening & he made our stay so delightful, so helpful with suggestions around town & such a warm person. He made us feel so welcome & fun to chat with. The location is perfect & the breakfast buffet plenty. We also appreciated free parking. My one complaint is the bed, that was the hardest bed we’ve ever experienced. Like sleeping on a hard wood box, it was very painful & we honestly couldn’t sleep, which put a damper on our days exploring. If they could alter e bedding, this would literally be a perfect accommodation.

Loved the outdoor pool and breakfast was decent. Rooms are a bit dated and not as nice as I expected for the price but the location was close to the water and close to a ton of restaurants and nightlife.

This hotel is lovely. Very nice pools, a big lounge, nearly nightly entertainment. The location is good if you are able to walk a bit up a hill. Breakfast was good, front desk staff helpful. Don't hesitate to stay here.
