Causeway Bay Hotel

Every amenity was closed. No dining, with no establishments within an easy walk. All vending machines were broken on every floor except the main floor, with two vending machines that were poorly stocked, if at all. There was no maid service. The pool and spa/gym were closed. It appears this place used to be nice, but it is apparently mismanaged under new ownership.

Every amenity the property advertises was closed, restaurant, pool, workout facility, everything.

Hotel was under staffed and none of the amenities as advertised were open or available for use. The pool was closed. The restaurant was closed. There was no internet access or cable TV. Also beeare they do not offer refunds once you book a room. This was a classic bait and switch scheme.

No on-site restaurant Ice machine and vending machine not working on 5th floor, asked the front desk person they didn’t care and told me to go to the other floors to see if they work Parking was horrible had to park in the back of the hotel in a lot that had little light and had not been taken care of in quite some time. No handicap spots for parking within a short distance from the entrance, the only spots they had were in the back but the door was locked most of the time and the key card did not open them. Cars were parked in the fire lane and the 10 minute registration parking all night ( same cars). Saw housekeeping once (first day of stay)the room next to us had a bag of garbage outside of the room for 2 days that was never picked up by day 3 Refrigerator/freezer was iced up so bad that you could not use it My room was ok for a hotel , bed was comfortable

The property as a whole is dirty and run down. The restaurant, pool, spa and gym were all closed until further notice. They said due to staffing. Also there was no cable TV in the rooms. It was 90 degrees outside and the floor hallways had no air. Luckily the only plus was the air worked in the rooms. The whole property was dirty and full of cobwebs literally.

When I pulled up the whole parking lot was dark and I was not sure if it was open. The front desk person told me she did not see my reservation and that the computer and printer was giving her trouble. The lobby it's self actually looked nice, however, that was the only part that looked nice. There is a sign taped to the front desk that said the restaurant , pools, hot tub, and bar were all closed; according to reviews it has been that way for 3+ years. The hallway floors were ripped up and it looked like it was a remodel that had been paused. Some one spilled a soda all over the elevator and there was no sign anyone planned on cleaning it. Half of the light bulbs in the room didn't work and the TV operated on antenna only. The windows were poorly insulated and the road noise sounded as if the window was open. Overall this has the bones and look of a once prominent conference center that has since fallen into disrepair and it seems that with each passing month that could be the last of this hotel being open.

I think this property is getting ready to shut down. They posted that due to construction, the bar, restaurant, pool, and hot tub were closed. There was no construction going on. All the vending machines were empty. So literally there was nothing to eat or drink in the hotel. Stains on the carpeting and on the mattresses. TV stations were mostly non-existent - DTV kept showing no signal, until finally there was one, but then then shows glitched.

I booked as it was a convenient location and the pictures make it look nice. I would say keep driving. It's not as great hotel as it looks in the pictures. The restaurant, gym and pool are all closed until further notice. There is no cable tv. I arrived at dark and passed the hotel as it looked like an abandoned office building. It was not lit up the sign was barely readable. When I mentioned it to the front desk, and they said they were on a timer. The lobby is nice. The parking lot is across the street in the back, not well lit. The hallways smell like stale smoke and marijuana. The bed was nice. The rooms needs updating, the carpet is wavy, the bathrooms need to be freshened. The phone cord is broken and doesn't "click" into the phone. I will say the front desk lady was friendly.

When I came to check in nobody was there to check me in! I waited over 20 minutes and saw a paper on the ledge that said no cable tv, no restaurant, no pool, no bar, all are closed until further notice!

The Room was good, I was the only guest on the 5th floor of executive suites of 85 rooms. Very Quiet. That was the best part of my stay. They mostly have people who live their all the time on other floors. The Restaurant and pool are no longer open. The area around the hotel may feel unsafe to some people. Parking lot is dark and remote from front door. Price was too high for not having any amenities.

We got a room for one night for a king size bed. Our room was disgusting! The bed was stained brown, the sheets, blankets, pillows and walls all had stains. The ac did not work at all! Photos of that room are below! We got a new room and it had two beds fine not what we ordered but we just wanted a clean room. The shower did not work I had to hug the wall to get water. Worked half the time. The chain on our door was broken off so we only had one lock. The pool, hot tub, gym, bar, and restaurant were all CLOSED! Until further notice asked on the way out and worker said it’s been like that for a while. They do NOT service any kind of breakfast nothing! Checkout time was fine felt rushed. The parking lot was a mess had trash on the ground and the parking lot was full of pot holes. There is another lot on the other side but you can’t even see the sign it’s so sun bleached. There was a sign in our room that says along the line of “we see you like our towels and pillows! Go ahead take them! We will charge your card for taking or swapping them out with your own!” Just very unwelcoming experience. The curtains were stained brown all the way through every single one were stained. The elevators were awful the floor we were on which was the 5th the button didn’t work for one side and one elevator was down but didn’t have out of order sign. The other elevator acted like it would break at any second. Just save yourself time and money don’t stay here!

They don't have housekeeping, pool and hot tub closed, lounge closed, restaurant closed. Bed bugs found in room, hotel staff witnessed them and acknowledged they know about the problem. Key card machine broke, you need hotel employee to let you in your room. Price quoted by Hotels.com was not honored, hotel claim price put in their systems was done so by Hotels.com and nothing they could do to change it. Web site shows a beautiful facility yet everything is broke or closed and don't know why Hotels.com would advertise and use them. Hotel refused to give refund, obviously will never go back to this hotel and never trust Hotels.com going forward for my travel plans. Was in town for a big event, many other area hotels sold out and ended up paying triple the amount quoted by Hotels.com. No direct phone number found to speak to a Hotels.com employee to help resolve issue. Have never seen anything like this before in all my years of travel. Shame, shame on Causeway Bay Hotel and even more so to Hotels.com who recommended them and continues to do so. Be aware folks, look for other reviews which I found after the fact. Hotel employee admitted they have bed bugs and most of the few quests they have are homeless. I feel for these people but nobody should be staying here. Lobby is beautiful, only thing in the hotel that is.

Pool, restaurant, sauna, was closed. Room bed had bed bugs. I didn’t want an infestation in my home so we left. We did not stay. The hallway reeked of cigarettes and pot. Requested a refund have not received refund yet. Very disappointed the place should be condemned.

Under the "you get what you pay for" I expected this place to not be great but it was slim pickings for parents weekend at msu. I really only wanted a bed and shower and for it to be clean. The shower didn't get more than a trickle of water -- not enough to divert it to the shower head. Would've asked to change rooms but didn't find it til morning. The bed was nice. The floors - carpet & tile- were pretty dirty. The air conditioner, set to 60° was mediocre.

There was human feces smeared on my mattress and an odd white substance on the table and in the drawer. This hotel will put your life at risk with the wanderers and poor conditions. Not like the pictures thats for sure! What a joke!

It was terrible, the first rooms they gave us were dirty then the second room they gave us had bed bugs.

The room was very dirty. The furniture we put towels on the chairs to sit on them as they were all stained with who knows what. The chain lock on the door was broken. The curtains did not close. The shower and shower curtain were filthy along with the bathroom sink and the floors were dirty. The remote to the TV did not work even with new batteries. The lobby area was clean and looked very nice. The rooms need a LOT of attention. They should start on one floor and go thru and clean and update. I understand it might be hard to get people who actually want to work BUT.....Otherwise the manager was very nice and helpful.

Hotel should be closed for its own good, property should be converted into a strip mall. Hotel was dirty, unsanitary, there were stains around toilet, hard to flush, tub had residue, tv remote was missing battery cover, bed sheets had hair, moldy ceilings and smelly rugs, which may have activated my allergies, loose panels/trim, parking was inconvenient, no bottled water offered and no restaurant or store on site..such a waste of a large space..

There's a photo in the listings with a nice fireplace and a couple of easy chairs surrounding it. That's still here, but the carpet all around that area is worn to the floor. It's seen better days for sure. There's a layer of dirt and grime that doesn't look like it's ever coming out. Checking in, the attendant was nice enough. I won't say anything bad about him. He's clearly a young person just trying to get himself through school. However, the process wasn't very fast enough though we did the reservation ahead of time. I chalk it up to antiqued technology. From there, things only got worse. The pool is out of order and so are some of the other facilities. Also, the cable TV doesn't work either. The elevator is difficult to get to and sounds like it's about to send you plummeting to your death. A smell of cat urine is present in various places throughout. Our room was on the 5th floor. It's felt mostly abandoned. Our room - 524 - took multiple attempts to open using the provided key cards. Outside of the beds being super comfy and new, the rest of the room wasn't great. The shower was okay but tub was grungy. The sink leaked all over the floor onto your feet. The carpets were stained and all of the lights were unplugged. We didn't enjoy our stay.

The outside of the building looks like an old run down college dorm. But the lobby is very nice and updated. The rooms have been renovated, but still lots of work to be done. Our first room didn’t have a working air conditioner. The second room needed some cleaning, had rust stains in the bathroom, and didn’t have a smoke detector. There was no pool, hot tub, restaurant, or bar as they had advertised.

Google maps took us to the back entrance- it looked abandoned- need more lights and signs. Inside was fine- I will say the beds, pillows and linens were amazing! Most comfortable bed I have slept in at a hotel! You just need to do something about the outside lighting.

Front check in staff took forever to check me in. There were only two light bulbs that worked, that's bulbs not lamps. Very little light in the room. Fridge wasn't plugged in so my leftover Dave's hot chicken got ruined, but I guess that's my fault for not checking. Still ... I really wanted those leftovers...hotel was huge and seemed fairly clean. Also zero lighting in the "parking" area.

The receptionist was extremely friendly and had us checked in after only a few minutes after arrival. We were given a 4th floor end room which was very clean and quiet. The beds and pillows were the most comfortable I've ever slept in at a hotel, even when considering comparison to a hotel 3x-4x the cost per night. The linens were crisp and freshly washed as well.

It was a comfortable room. Our deadbolt wouldn't lock and I didn't like the parking. Those are my only complaints! Other than that, room was nice and clean and it was perfect for a quick sleep.

The hotel is HUGE, and the staff are very nice, the room is very spacious and its a pet friendly stay. The hotel is under construction so the amenities are not available such as, the lounge bar or the pool or anything like that, but if your looking for a room to crash out in and have a pet then this place is good. Its very quiet there, no issues with the room, staff is VERY honest as they called us to let us know my husband left his wallet ( that alone says alot about the staff). A+A+A+

I picked this hotel for the bar and pool. Neither of them were open due to issues. Then we couldn't get a key card because that was broke also. The room next to us had their music so loud most of the night. It was a terrible experience

Hotel staff was extremely rude at the front desk. It took almost 2 hours to get batteries for the remote because the batteries were missing. The floor they put me on was under construction. The floor wasnt finished. The room had nothing plugged in. There was a fdirty soc left in the bathroom.

The property was clean with a convenient location. The staff was friendly and helpful. However, the building itself has seen better days.

There was no amenities such as pool and restaurant were closed which wasn't huge just a inconvenience. The bigger problem was the parking. As i arrived in the evening for checkin due to my flight and being a single person entering a back entrance cause thats the only available parking and no lighting is a little unsafe.

The pool was not open nor was dinning. Parking was unusual bc there was not parking close to the front which made loading and unloading difficult.

Google maps took us to the back entrance- it looked abandoned- need more lights and signs. Inside was fine- I will say the beds, pillows and linens were amazing! Most comfortable bed I have slept in at a hotel! You just need to do something about the outside lighting.

Gives you a place to sleep at night, can't complain too much. Parking had been confusing since the lot isn't attached to the building itself, but the staff had been super friendly and helped guide me to it. None of the amenities were available, as others have stated, so I can't speak on how they were. The location itself is nice, being walking distance for what I'd been going to, and not far from gas stations and food. I wouldn't recommend it to many, but I'd potentially stay there again.

This place is a mystery. It has 3 different names on it - is it The Causeway? Best Western? Lansing Inn? There are three different signs on the property. The back parking lot - where we were told to park - has no lights and is in a very shady part of town (South Lansing). When you enter, you are met with a sign that tells you every single amenity - including cable tv - is out of service. The first room one of our fellow travelers checked into had no running water. The elevators have some strange white residue all over the walls. The entire place seems like an abandoned property or a haunted house, and smells awful. It was absolutely disgusting, and I would steer clear.

Nothing was open. No restaurant, pool, hot tub, we paid to stay based on the amenities that were listed in the advertisement . But that wasn’t the case.

The property is 100% falsely advertising on this website. EVERYTHING IS CLOSED! THERE IS NO USABLE POOL, HOT TUB, SAUNA OR GYM LIKE STATED IN WEBSITE DESCRIPTION. THE RESTAURANT AND BAR ARE CLOSED "UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE" THERE IS NO CONTINENTAL BREAKFAST, NO CABLE TV IN THE ROOMS. THERE WERE HOMELESS PEOPLE SLEEPING IN THE FRONT OF THE LOBBY. It is also a hostel which is NOT SAID in the description. There are sketchy people throughout the hotel. We went for our daughters soccer tournament and did not feel safe for her to walk around alone. Trash everywhere outside. I don't like leaving all negative comments so the best things about it were: the beds were very soft and comfy, the rooms were decently clean, however the sheets were hopefully clean, just stained. Plenty of comfy pillows and the courtyard was well maintained and very nice with fish and a little waterfall. WILL NOT BE BACK!
