This was a pleasant surprise as we visited charleston and found that mount pleasant was the place to be. This hotel is 10 mins from the beach the pool is top notch and the access to the docks is more than cool. My wife and i enjoyed happy hour during the week at all of the restaraunts and bars along the creek, amazing sunset strolls on the docks and plenty of amazing food options nearby! We enjoyed the stay very much. The hotel is minimal having just what you need but the location and night life is more than worth the stay. Would stay again and would recommend it!

This is a great hotel in an awesome location! Love that you can walk to several really good restaurants and easily get to downtown Charleston and the surrounding islands. And the dock that you can walk around the pier and marsh was wonderful. A great way to see the sunset too! They have a grab n go breakfast included with some gluten free options, which was great! Much better than the poor quality hot breakfast you get at some places. Hotel was clean and updated with a nice pool and an attacked bar and restaurant. Staff were very helpful. My only complaint is that our room was right next to the lobby and elevator which was a little loud at night when people would return and were not considerate of people who may be sleeping.

Love the hotel and the area. Lots of restaurants, and clubs. Right on the creek with nice boats and great views. The room was nice, good shower, comfortable beds. Nitpicking thoughts- the room needs more electrical outlets. The elevator is scary. Overall still excellent.

**Average Stay, Needs Improvement** I recently stayed at Shem Creek Inn and had an overall okay experience, but there were some significant downsides. While the location is fantastic with beautiful views of the creek, short driving distances to Charleston and the convenience of nearby good restaurants; the cleanliness of the room left much to be desired. The floors felt dirty and sandy, specially the bathroom floor, making the room feel less than inviting. It didn’t seem like they had been properly cleaned before our stay. On top of that, the air conditioning unit vent was full of dust, which caused some discomfort. The staff was friendly and accommodating, specially Nicole on our check-in time, she was very cordial, welcoming and friendly. I hope management takes more care and emphasis with room cleanliness in the future. For the price, I expected better attention to detail. Overall, we were okay with our stay.

Disappointed overall. The location is really the only thing we enjoyed. In room AC unit causes so much condensation that the floors were constantly wet. Service never came during our 3 night stay even though we had the please clean our room sign on our door and were gone all day each day. Finally just started going to find the maid cart and get towels. Even ran out of toilet paper. Ceiling had water damage and shower tiles had mildew. Our marsh view was mainly just a parking lot view. Again, location was good as we had an event to attend at Waters Edge but otherwise, accommodations are not up to par.

The property was a bit outdated but some may view it as part of its charm. The room itself was worn down but clean, the dresser draws were very dirty, and the bathroom floor was dirty (almost appeared as if someone had previously been in the bathroom and the mud came off their shoes). I ended up having to dust off the furniture, clean the bathroom floor, and Lysol-ed the room. I didn't complain to or notify staff because it was something i could take care of. All staff I encountered were very friendly and professional.

This is a lodging for primarily young people who like noise. The bars next door and opposite play very loud music every day until after 10pm.Poolside there is music too, so when swimming you can hear up to four sets of different music at the same time- hardly restful. Breakfast is really just coffee and long life snacks, so not good. We stayed 6 days and had to ask for our beds to be changed mid stay, we were expected to make our own bed the other days. The room was never cleaned during our stay. The mainly young staff did not interact with us. It is a shame as the position on the creek is wonderful, with boats & the boardwalk. For the high cost it is not good value. Most people seem to stay just one or two nights.

Thought a lot about writing a review, but as we know how much people plan for/look forward to a holiday & the cost we felt we should just so others are prepared and not disappointed! Positives: -The size of the room, decor and views over the Creek were all fabulous. Busy in the evenings & quiet in the mornings, when we saw dolphins & other wildlife. -Boardwalk is easily accessed from the hotel. -Good choice of restaurants on the Creek. -Pool was great. -Full sized fridge in room. -Breakfast was varied & good as takeout. Not so positive : -the room floor was very dirty(didn’t walk in bare feet because of it…not normally fussed) & the cupboards were also so dirty I had to wipe them out (also a first). -toilet rolls & replacement towels have to be collected from a cupboard at reception (again not a problem but very unusual for the price we paid), -cleaning the room was only after the 3rd day on request!!

The room was clean and roomy. Balcony views are beautiful and the proximity to so many amazing restaurants and bars make this the place to be. 10-15 minutes to all the downtown Charleston sights. Loved the location and friendly atmosphere. Appreciated free drink on arrival. Only issue was a noisy air conditioner/heater so had to turn it off at night. Difficult sleeping as it rattled. Other then that our stay was great

Beautiful location. Walkable to bars and restaurants. Walking dock was beautiful in the AM. Will definitely be back! :) If I had to search for a negative, it would be that the noise from the hallway was very loud into our room. Still slept great regardless.

We love staying at the Shem Creek Inn. We used to stay in downtown Charleston until we discovered the Shen Creek Inn. This was our fourth time staying here and I would not stay anywhere else. Is it fancy? No… the bathrooms are small and outdated, but the view on the creek side is awesome. You can walk to get dinner or drinks, take a stroll along the creek, and it’s a very easy short drive to downtown Charleston. It’s the midway point between the historical downtown Charleston and Sullivan’s Island. And watching the sunrise or sunset from your balcony is perfect.

Loved our two nights here. The hotel is in the middle of several bars/restaurants with lots of activity. We sat on the balcony watching the boats and dolphins going by. Not a quiet place to stay until about 11 then it gets nice and quiet. Rooms are a bit outdated but the pool and view make up for it.

I will be staying at the Shem Creek Inn again. The front desk staff were both super friendly and very helpful. All my questions were answered, from where's the best restaurant to direction for getting the heat to work in my room. My room was very clean and very comfortable. About 5 restaurants were in short walking distance. I was traveling alone and felt very safe. The view at night across the creek toward the restaurants was beautiful and walking out across the marsh was awesome. A must stay!

Probably my most favorite stay ever! We went to eat at Water’s Edge while visiting Charlestown and saw Shem Creek Inn and had to come back and stay there. Didn’t disappoint! Doug checked us in and he might’ve been the best part of the Inn but it was all so great, even the grab and go breakfast. No soggy, rubbery eggs, just all great breakfast options! Thank you and we’ll be back!!

Joseph at the front check in desk was very helpful and went above and beyond. Helped with bags and tips with local restaurants and getting an extra bed for our son. We arrived early and our room was ready early which was a nice surprise and very helpful! The breakfast in the morning was good and it was nice to have the welcome drinks upon check in too. Beds were comfy and shower was great. Service from front desk was very helpful. We will definitely stay here again!

Watch the creek side wake up with boaters both commercial and pleasure. Watching dolphins in the creek as they hunt for food and sight see. Walk to to end of the boardwalk and watch the sunset over the bridge.

We arrived after 9pm, and was pleasantly greeted by Angela! She was very helpful in referring us for a place to eat that late. The room was moderately clean. Very loud on Fri and Sat nites due to live music right below us. The breakfast was good, and even had gluten free options. The website says "room service", but there is no restaurant on site. Great location, if you can handle the noise.

Shem Creek Inn provided beautiful views and lots of dining options in walking distance. While many of the restaurants had live music over the weekend, we could not hear anything in our marsh side room. Additionally there was a boardwalk with a beautiful walk over the marshes. It was close enough to Downtown Charleston, but felt like we were staying at the beach due to the wonderful beach smells!

Pros: Beautiful location, very convenient to waterfront, walking, shops, restaurants. Great parking. Room was large and comfortable. Cons: We were there for 5 nights. No one ever came in to clean the room. Our trash was overflowing and we had to find someone to take it. The included breakfast was severely lacking, except for the coffee. There was some refrigerated yogurt and boxes of cold cereal, microswavable oatmeal, and energy bars. Premade frozen sandwiches to microwave, which tasted terrible. No fresh rolls or bread, spreads, fresh fruit or a toaster.

Wonderful location. Elevator was scary and shaking. Terrific room. Comfy bed. In room- Coffee/tea set up was lacking everything. Breakfast was pathetic and inedible. But I would stay again.

Great atmosphere! Walk anywhere! The restaurants and bars are located right in the parking block. Food is AMAZING at Water’s Edge! You can watch the boats come and go, paddlers and wildlife and listen to the live music from your balcony. Family atmosphere as well. So much to do and located right over the bridge from historic Charleston.

Great location and all of the front desk were so kind and friendly. I got a message when the room was ready and that was so helpful. They also had a voucher for drinks in the cooler which is a nice touch. The breakfast was packaged foods but there was a great variety. Looking forward to visiting again.

Great location and view from the balcony to Shem Creek was really nice. Room was spacious and clean. Onsite parking was great although parking grounds could use a little TLC. Amenities were fine and available breakfast was simple but good enough for our needs. Very satisfied with this property and would stay here again if we were to be visiting the area again.
