Travelodge by Wyndham Dunsmuir

The hotel was great. No complaints. Clean. Small dinner on the same location of the hotel. Opened 24 hours. I would definitely stay there again. You check in and out of the hotel in the diner.

You have to go across the parking lot to the restaurant to check in. There is no one on staff in the building. They had no rooms on the first floor and we had a ton of luggage and there are no elevators. Super inconvenient.

Second stay in about 3 years on the way to Oregon. Close to freeway. 24 hour diner is next to the hotel and serves as the check in desk. Really clean room. Diner is great for a budget. Had dinner and breakfast.

Decent for a one night stay but dissappointed with the lack of a coffee maker in the rooms and no elevator - we were on the 2nd floor.

This Wyndham property is clean, nicely managed and modern with exercise room (no pool) and a surprise; a quaint old fashioned looking diner open 24/7. Located just off Highway 5 you’re just a hop, skip and a jump to nearby Dunsmuir, Mr. Shasta and the town of Weed. But note, there are no other activities or things to do immediately around the lodge. It is a beautiful, wooded area. If you’re headed north on Highway 5 and need a stop over this is a perfect spot.

Check in at detached restaurant. Clerk handling food orders and check in at the same time. No management in hotel building. No elevator. Out of town location. Won’t stay here again.

Check in and minimal staff are located across the parking lot from the building with no lobby. The 24-hour diner serves as the "lobby". WiFi was available in The Diner but not in the building with the rooms. The woman at The Diner accommodated my unusual food need but the whole experience was not standard Wyndham.

Very clean and the Diner was awesome with good food and prices. The hotel room was comfortable and very clean. Only bummer is they do not have an elevator. So those with walking issues will find it difficult. Overall we love staying at the Wyndum hotels because they are always clean comfortable rooms and friendly staff.

This place is great. They have a 24/7 restaurant that's part of the property. Good hearty American cuisine at small town prices. The hotel has a washer and dryer that only cost $1 each to operate. Real throwback kind of place and a pleasure to stay in. If you need accessibility, they don't have an elevator, but the stairs are no sweat.

Dinner—motel combo operation run at a high level of efficiency. It is the only place to stay in the area. Very friendly staff and clean

Property was not clean, sheets were worn with holes on them, floor was sticky dirty, we found garbage in the drawers. Luckily it was quiet.

The room was clean and adequate. The sheets though were clean but stained. It looks like glue or clear nail polish had been spilled on them and didn’t come out of the wash. The other Queen bed sheets had a few gray fuzz balls in the sheets, as if the lint in the dryer was full and got caught in the sheets. The heater probably needs maintenance, we put it on 74 degrees and our phone temperature said it was 67 degrees in the room. The heater went off less than 5 minutes, bringing the room heat to 69 degrees. We had to keep upping the temperature to get it to 70 degrees but it never went higher. It was cold during the night and we could have used heavier blankets and a comforter. Otherwise it was fine.

The choices of channels on the TV were very limited but that happens. The room was great, spacious and clean. It is just the hotel and the diner in the area so come to enjoy a meal & sleep.

Very clean. No odor or speck of dirt in room. Diner was cheerful and had a cool 50’s vibe. Convenient location just off I-5.

Check in was somewhat fast the diner wasn’t busy so that’s probably why and the woman who helped me check in wasn’t rude or super friendly which is fine. No complaints there. However We had alot of luggage but discovered that there was no elevator so that was inconvenient. The room itself was decent, not super fancy, not super run down. Im not too picky when it comes to hotels Im usually somewhere in the middle when it comes to price so this was a good fit. We stayed two nights and both nights we spotted a couple cockroaches wasn't much I could do about it since I paid in advance and didn't have alot of extra money to go to another hotel. Lastly on the morning of checkout this is where things got really out of hand. We received a letter on our door saying there was a problem with payment which was weird because I paid in advance a few weeks beforehand instead of paying at the property I even have the receipt. My girlfriend went to see what that was about anyway at the diner and the man working there was extremely rude to her, yelling at her being very hostile for no reason and demanding a card to pay even after she showed the receipt. Ultimately He ended up saying “i don’t care if we lose money, I dont have time for this!” & then we left. Seems like they need to get more staff who are professional and probably some help from pest control.

We really appreciate this place… the convenience just off of the road and the wonderful diner on site. This is the second time we have stayed there and we were happy both times. The amenities are relatively simple as the building/ rooms are a bit older, but super super clean. The bathroom door didn’t close and lock all the way, but it was no big deal. Building felt safe with only one locking entry. Just as the first time, the staff at the diner and hotel were fantastic!!!

Didnt bother to mention upon reservation or check-in that there is no internet service. They might have been interested in the problem but apparentky they couldnt really care less.

This motel was basic, and fine for that. It is a block distant from the freeway, but turning on the fan blocks the limited noise from trucks. So...it was OK.

This property has a few quirks such as check in at the diner across the parking lot, and no coffee maker in the room (you had to ask for one - we missed the sign at check in and the employee who checked us in did not mention this) but overall a good experience - it is clean, the cleaning lady we ran into was very friendly as were all of the staff at the diner, our room was on the back side and quiet, and the property is easy to find with a 24-hour diner across the parking lot. Very cute town and great hiking nearby so all in all a good pit stop on our way from the Bay area to Portland.

Bed was a little too firm ! However, penny’s diner was great and the service at the diner was excellent! Food was great ! Thanks

I have stayed here before. I had requested a room on the first floor well in advance, knowing the hotel does not have an elevator. Despite booking early and traveling with young children and extra luggage, my request was not honored, which made our stay unnecessarily difficult. The rooms themselves were adequately clean and had basic amenities, but the lack of consideration for our situation was disappointing. I’m unlikely to stay here again.

It was different registering at the diner, but no real problems until the next morning when the key decided to stop working. Even receiving a new key didn’t help. Fortunately housekeeping was able to open the room. Modern tech, who knows what else might happen

There were some issues with electronic room door locks but they started work again in a couple of hours.

Check in is next door in a Diner. There was one guy working in the Diner who cooked, took food orders, served the food, and checked Motel guests in. It took at least 45 minutes just to check in and then we find out there’s at least another 30 minute wait to order any food. It was already after 10 pm so no dinner for us.

What a find! We had a long travel day going S on I-5. This place is just S of the mountain passes that were likely to have snow or ice in the morning. Barbara at reception in the diner next door was great. Because we pulled in at 8p, it was great to have a 24 hour diner. The room was very clean and comfortable. Breakfast at the diner was delicious. The breakfast burrito was flavorful with lots of veggies. James was a server extraordinaire, friendly and attentive. Kudos to Steven the cook. He seemed proud to be cooking classic diner food. We would definitely recommend this Travelodge and Penny's Diner.

Barbara in the front desk in the diner is extremely helpful and nice. Have stayed here several times and a cheaper and more comfortable/quieter stay than alternatives in Mount Shasta. Highly recommend this hotel.

Poor staff Power outage at 9:30 pm. Staff said it was planned. How do you have planned outage at 9:30 at night. Couldn't reach anyone by phone.

The hotel room itself was fine and what I expected. The reason for my low rating (one star) is the reception I received at check-in. The instructions on the hotel door were to check in at the nearby diner. When I went in, the lady in the diner was very surly, acting very annoyed at my presence and making it clear she considered that she was doing me a big favor by being there for me. She was very curt, not understanding that the fundamental principle of hotelerie is in the welcome. Perhaps she was merely having a bad day and was taking it out on me, or perhaps she resents her job (in which case she should find a new one) but in any case she was poorly trained. She even snarled a sarcastic "You're welcome !" at me when I did not thank her at the end, to which I replied "Sorry, I am not the one being rude". There was nothing wrong with the hotel room itself, but I will not stay there again even though I travel through that region several times per year.

Nothing fancy but clean and pleasant basic hotel room. The staff were kind about allowing us to check in early. Nice that there's a 24/7 diner onsite for meals. My only complaint is that prior to our visit we wanted to confirm their pet policy. It was impossible to get in contact with anyone from the hotel to answer a question.

We were a quick walk away from Hedge Creek Falls which was a bonus. The room was large and clean and we were very close to the town of Dunsmuir. Really liked our stay!

Very nice area. Clean, convenient to the freeway, restaurant near by. This was our second time staying there. Will go back.

Even offered to help me when I was a little uneasy about being on the second floor. It was nice and quiet. Room was clean and bed was comfortable. I would probably stay ‘downtown’ next time but just for a different experience of Dunsmuir.

Great hotel in front of Hedge falls, near Mt Shasta, Siskiyou lake and Castle lake. Go to Dunsmuir only to get your groceries at the supermarket and visit beautiful Mt Shasta town for shopping and coffee. We took a drive to nearby Ashland, Oregon, just 1 hour away, and were gratefully surprised at the great Lithia park, and many restaurants and shops of this little town. Please visit the Oregon Shakespeare theatre if you can.

There is a cute diner right next door. It was fun and convenient to walk next door after a long drive to eat !
