Comfort Inn Bay City - Riverfront

Renovating very nice. Warm pool!

Comfortable hotel. Good breakfast. Parking is dicey when you arrive late. Calling the room a ‘river view’ is a stretch - mostly its traffic view. Room was ok.

Clean room. Great breakfast options. Tons of TV channels. Amazing pool- very clean and warm. Room was clean and neat. A/c worked great. Lots of stores and dining options within walking distances. Front desk staff was so nice!

Pool is dirty (including the area around it) and very noisy due to equipment. Hallways need vacuuming.

Not enough parking and it only has two spaces for handicapped parking.

Bathroom was dirty. Tub doesn't drain. Pool not in use. Not happy with the stay, would not return.

Elevator was out of order and the hall carpets are super dirty

The people who worked at the front desk and the establishment were very friendly and kind. However, the place looked a little old and required a little TLC. Hallways need a little shampoo and vacuuming. Some continued craftsmanship needed on doorways and trim. Elevator was getting remodeled. I hope the establishment can put a little more money in this place for future upgrades.

Beware if you have to park after 5pm. The lot is full of Spectrum trucks. Also it’s hard to exit from the parking lot unless you want to cross the bridge.

Pool was closed, restaurant was closed. Seemed short-staffed.

Room was very nice and roomy. Clear and comfortable. Nice view of the river. No one was at the front desk at 5:00. Had to find the desk clerk in the back room after waiting about 3 minutes. The hall way on the 5th floor need to be cleaned. It was pretty dirty and smelly.

Staff was great; however, found hair in our bathroom, trash was overflowing in the hallways.

Hotel had a horrible stench and carpets were filthy. It had an 8.8 rating but was more like a 3.

I stayed at this hotel because my father was in the nearby hospital. Upon entering, I was hit in the face by the foul order of sewage on the first floor. My room was on the fourth floor, and I did not notice the odor inside the room itself. However, on the second night at 3 AM I was awoken by a thick foul smell of sewage in my room that was coming from the drains in the bathroom. It was so bad. I was unable to sleep the rest of the night and first thing in the morning I checked out to go to another hotel. I brought this to the attention of the hotel manager and she did not seem surprised. She said I should have called and they would have sent a maintenance person up to fix the problem. I explained that this is not a problem that a maintenance man will be able to fix . What would you do spray air freshener in my room? the problem is systemic. There is something seriously wrong with this hotel and it will require plumbing professionals or possibly even a civil engineer to diagnose the source of the sewage smell coming through the drains. The problem is somewhere in the infrastructure of the hotel and they really need to get it fixed. In addition, the carpets are disgusting and there are many cosmetic issues throughout. The room itself was not bad until the smell. The breakfast was OK, but I could not eat the second morning due to the bad taste in my mouth. This could be a decent hotel if they fixed those issues and could probably get a higher nightly rate for the investment.

Strong sewer odor in lobby and room

Had a surprisingly bad experience given how highly reviewed the hotel is. Check in lady was very nice given the late hour, but some weirdo followed me in then wandered off which with how run down Bay City is the door being open with zero security measure is a little surprising. Room was humid to the point everything was damp including the sheets which is a real gross feeling to sleep in. Shower was completely plugged up so showering resulted in standing in shin deep murky water. Manager at check out asked how my stay was, i told him and he seemed legit concerned, so i will say the management isnt bad. But also the stairwells and hall look like they havent seen a vacuum in a couple weeks so cleanliness is not a priority regardless of what they may believe. No bugs. This i appreciated. But im a pretty simple guest. I want a bed to sleep in, a hot shower, and coffee to take with me when i leave. All i got was the coffee. Would have been a 1 star but i gave a 2 because the staff were still good. Maybe i just got a bad room? It happens.

Overall it was a good stay. Started off not so friendly, the staff apologized and left snacks in our room. So that was nice. No complaints about the room! The overall “feel” of this hotel could be cleaner. Someone got sick in the stairwell overnight and was still there in the morning. This wasn’t a “bad” stay. But I would likely book with a different hotel in the future.

Ordered a riverside room and got a street view. Only problem.

Comfortable bed, good shower pressure. A/C unit in 207 could use some adjustment as it would turn on full blast pretty loudly, then slowly die down which would wake us up repeatedly throughout the night.

staff were fantastic had a few issues with the sink and bathtub not draining and heater cycling on and off did send maintenance to take care of the issues in the bathroom and heat issue, but the heat issue still was not operating correctly over all room was comfortable heat and ac need updated the pad on unit was worn and hard to see the functions of the buttons but I feel the staff made up for the few issues we encountered

Nice, soft sheets and a comfortable king size bed. The room is spacious with a desk as well as a dresser and an upholstered chair. The bathroom is a little small but not objectionably so. The staff is friendly. The pool looked nice and it was clean, however I did not use it. Breakfast was good with waffles, sausage, eggs, bagels, English muffins, fruit, cereals and yogurt. Room 227 was across from the ice machine and with other ice machines being out of order it got a good amount of use and it was loud. I would say a room in the middle would be better. Plenty of on site parking. Centrally located. A nice stay.

It was advertised we would have a view of the city or the river, however, our view was the parking lot!! So disappointed. Staff was nice and breakfast was good though.

My only issues were the heater that made a ticking noise all night. Difficult to sleep! And these ridiculous small, hard pillows.

Hello, I gave the overall experience a 0 because the room was listed as a RIVERFRONT room that I paid extra for. All other aspects of the stay were superb, but when you open the curtains to see the river, there is a parking lot, grass, a highway!! and a bridge that finally shows the river. Explain to me how that screams RIVER"FRONT" and how you are ok with charging extra for that??? Not happy at all with that misleading description of RIVERFRONT.

The rooms were very clean. The bed was extremely comfortable. The bathroom was very nice and spacious. I had a king room. No complaints with the room at all!

Very comfortable clean room. Building was noisy at night and traffic loud. Good blackout curtains, refr/microwave and coffee maker. Nice free breakfast.

Always a great stay when I come to my hometown Comfort Inn. Staff is the best! Convenient to local restaurants and businesses.

Stay was great and hotel staff was amazing. Front desk concierge was absolutely wonderful. Her name is Dakota. Very friendly and accommodating. We would come back again and again.

Stayed for one night after the Bay City wine walk and had great service. Had a nice breakfast bar in the morning and staff were awesome!

The front desk person frankly, was not professional in dress or manner. I waited 10 minutes for her to come to the desk. Room wasn’t ready, no problem. We came back in two hours, almost half past three, and she tells us it’s still not ready. Nothing friendly in her manner.

Staff friendly, warm and accomodating. Breakfast staff, specifically Marci was exceptional.

Great place to stay, staff were all super nice and sweet, and I really enjoyed the proximity to downtown. Felt safe walking from hotel to downtown area and back, even after the sun set.

Perfect place to spend a weekend with the family. The hotel has got nice river view rooms. Riverfront is easily accessible from the hotel. It is a 5 min walk. Downtown life is really good. A good hotel in a great place.

The perfect location for our stay in Bay City. The breakfast buffet was very good each morning. The attendant was very sweet & welcoming, kept everything stocked as needed. Price was reasonable. Bed was comfortable. Shower felt great. Overall a decent property.

Everything was super clean, very friendly staff, really nice hot breakfast with tons of options. They had three different kinds of Greek yogurt, milk cereal, breads, sweets, two kinds of meats, two different flavors of waffles, eggs etc. I also enjoyed their water enhancement it was a nice change from juice.

Actually an excellent price for the stay. Very clean overall. Extremely friendly staff. Parking is tight but doable. A breakfast worth indulging in. Would we stay here again ? Absolutely !!!
