We were very excited to stay at the Charleston Place and experience one of the most well known historic locations in downtown Charleston. The staff were incredibly friendly, efficient, and not only catered to our every need, but anticipated it. The only reason for issue was the mass amount of construction labeled as “reimagination.” The main entrance to the building was closed, the iconic Charleston Grille was closed (and one of our primary reasons for booking), the rooftop pool was closed, construction above us (we stayed on the 5th floor) from 8 AM - 6 PM everyday and weekend days, and there was always a strong smell of sewage in the lobby. We were not informed of the “reimagination” of the building until two days before our stay and there was no reduction in room pricing reflected. Again, we had a wonderful time in Charleston and the Charleston Place, but this unforeseen and unknown construction made what was an excellent stay only a good stay.

Unfortunately the sauna and pool were under construction during our visit. But the spa was still enjoyable. The restaurants were incredible including palmetto cafe and meeting in the market. I will be back for the chicken pot pie! Beautiful hotel and wonderful staff.

Truly exceptional stay! From the moment we arrived, the staff impressed us with their attentiveness and eye for detail—they triple-checked everything to make sure our experience was seamless. The location is a dream: step outside and you’re surrounded by charming shops, incredible restaurants, and the buzz of the Market. We were disappointed to miss a dip in the pool since it was closed for upgrades, but that was a small hiccup in an otherwise fantastic visit. Special shoutout to the divine harpist!

You can’t get a better location than this . You are 20 mins from the airport - just a stone’s throw from the action on King St - yet quiet and just a gorgeous, spacious hotel with many common areas for folks to lounge in . The pool and hot tub is fab - also a steam room and spa - plus rooftop bar and nice area to hang after a long day . Rooms were a large size - and well decorated - staff very friendly and helpful . We opted for an added bfast at the on the site Palmetto Cafe - and although nice - Al la carte only - you don’t get much value for it . I wish they had a buffet bfast ! Great garden area to hang in - and we were given a complimentary bottle of sparkling wine on arrival which was a nice touch . All told a great experience .

We stayed at the Charleston Place for our anniversary weekend and my wife’s birthday weekend with our 5 month old baby. The service was phenomenal from checking in, valet, assistance with our bags to our room, requesting of a crib, and the cleanliness of our room. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and the surrounding areas. We will definitely be back to visit. I’ve already shared this stay with my parents. So hopefully they come to have an enjoyable experience.

We had a wonderful stay here. Staff were over the top friendly and helpful. Rooms are getting a bit tired and furniture soiled, but they are doing a complete renovation. Beautiful Christmas decor. The location is great!

The lobby smelled like urine. All day on Saturday we had to listen to banging and knocking. It sounded like we were in an MRI machine all day long. The welcoming staff was terrible.

Everything was great except no hair dryer & the wand was missing on one half of drapes & pulled away from wall causing a “crack of light” at top & down a ways-something regular housekeeping would not have noticed. I reported at desk when checking out & was thanked sincerely for letting them know. Sink was sluggish & forgot to mention. Hot water & volume in shower superior. In general, very good accommodations in every way!

You cannot beat the location of The Charleston Place, and for that reason alone we would definitely stay there again. However, we would've appreciated a coffee maker in the room. There is a coffee shop downstairs and always room service as additional options, we chose coffee shop. Housekeeping also shows up early (9am), so if you're planning to sleep in, remember to put the DND sign on your door. We asked them to come back the morning that this happened to us but they never did come back to clean the room even though we were gone later in the day. The pool and gym are really nice, they were never crowded. You can lay outside in the sun, but the pool is technically indoors. Our bed was not super comfortable, I preferred our bed at home (which I feel is kind of rare), and the pillows were incredibly soft. I couldn't wait to sleep in my own bed with my own pillows again.

Everyone who works here from the valet, front desk, bar tenders, and door men are very pleasant and helpful while providing great service. The property is spotlessly clean; the guest bedroom is well appointed, pleasantly decorated and the bed is very comfortable. The location of this hotel is excellent with quick and easy access to shopping and restaurants. This is our “go to” hotel in Charleston and we would be hard pressed to stay anywhere else.

My husband, 1 year old, and I traveled to Charleston to celebrate my birthday. We had a great time and the hotel set the tone for the trip. My first impression of the hotel is how warm and welcoming everyone is. The rooms are clean, the beds were beyond comfortable (the sheets are heavenly!), and the location can’t be beat. Traveling with a toddler is not for the faint of heart and wanting to be prepared, I overpacked…which meant we left in a hurried mess each day. Our hotel housekeeper, Irena, was a delight. I can’t say enough positive things about how helpful she was to us and she became a familiar and always cheerful face we saw each day. She took extra time and care to help tidy up the room in a way that went above and beyond what was expected. I believe she deserves to be recognized for making our stay at the Charleston Place extra special. We were sure to get her name before leaving, so I’m hoping this recognition makes it to the right person. It’s the little things most of the time that sets a hotel apart and we will definitely stay here again.

The hotel is beautiful. Our room was very hot. We had to get two fans from the hotel just to make it comfortable to sleep in. supposedly the tech. came to look at the A/C. we were told that the air was coming out of the vent at 58 degrees. This never happened. I have pictures of the fans and the A/C control unit sitting at 72 degrees. I do not thin=nk i would come back to this hotel. We paid a lot of money and did not enjoy our room.

Charleston Place is getting some much needed updates. We found our room to be in need of refurbishment. Hopefully their changes will bring the hotel the upgrades that are needed to bring CP back to its former glory.

From the smooth valet check in for our daughter’s 21 birthday, complete with a bubbly toast, to a beautiful room service breakfast, I cannot say enough about the staff, property and overall experience! The reset of the entryway is well managed, with no true interruptions- a feat of hospitality at its finest. Recommendations of local must see experiences, friendly faces and hearty “welcome back” attitude made for an incredible weekend!

Room was not cleaned on day 3 of 4, no privacy sign out, just skipped by housekeeping. Called at 5pm and was told someone would be by, no one ever came. There was a disruption in the room next door, loud screaming and yelling went on for over an hour post Midnight. Called security who responded timely. Overall beautiful property, nice stay. When back again will try another hotel in the district.

Their attention to detail was not great. I got an amazing phone call from a Justus there and asked me all these amazing questions about my preferences and the room reflecting none of my requests. Worn rooms. Needs refreshing No snacks in room but no room service at night whether. The worst was my daughter was getting married and in a suite and got back to the room and they had done their amazing turn down service but no one delivered the meals and champagne that were left at the front desk to be put in their rooms for after the wedding and they came back starving of course. Found the food the next day at the front desk. Cold and spoiled. For how expensive this hotel is and how many rooms we had booked there, frankly I’m appalled. They ruined a special moment for her.

Service was HORRIBLE... Montage prices with Holiday Inn Service.. Either Poor Trianing of Employees ( not all) or terrible management ( or BOTH)... Not at all what you would expect from a Hotel of this Caliber. Very Disappointing.

Called front desk and concierge for 15 minutes with no answer. (It IS a busy Friday night in December). However, one would think $1500/night would come with better service! Had to call dining services who, after 5-10 minutes, was able to get me a wifi password. Other that that, the stay has been great so far.

Christmas at Charleston Place is magical! It is very busy with people walking in the hotel to view all of the holiday decor. Staff is very accommodating, the room is clean and comfortable. This is the best hotel for shopping as it is located right in the heart of the top stores downtown.

We stayed at The Charleston place for 2 nights. Generally nice hotel , great location, attentive service by all staff. Aircondition in rooms is very, very loud, breakfast is alla cart and very expensive — not worth even the prepayment price …. the setting at Palmetto cafe is nice , relaxing but definitely overrated . Valet parking I think is around 45 dollars …. you can self park inside garage on premise for 25 bucks . In conclusion, very nice hotel, excellent location but needs some improvements !

This hotel is beautiful and the staff is suburb, but please note the Grill is under renovation. I was excited about the nightly jazz and tried to book there for dinner multiple times, I wish they had let me know online. However, the pool and spa area is lovely and we found plenty of other wonderful distractions.
