Courtyard Columbia Downtown at USC

Perfect spot for a visit to USC. Easy to walk all around campus. Room was comfortable and clean. Staff was amazing, especially the shuttle driver Cynthia who went out of her way to show us some things in Columbia. We will definitely be staying here again!

Specifically chose for outdoor pool. It was great temp and clean. There was an additional outdoor covered area with seating and a tv. Staff was friendly and helpful. Room was clean.

The property was clean, quiet and convenient. The parking garage is terrible. If you have a car that is larger than a micro-mini, good luck with the parking garage. There is a $10 per day parking fee and no free parking available. Be sure to include that in the price of the room. Last irritation, plan to make coffee in your room or pay $5.00 for a cup of Starbucks coffee from the thermos at the front desk. Little items, but enough to make a pleasant stay irritating. We would not stay at the property again.

Couldn’t have asked for more convenient access to USC and location for the team camp. Nice place, pool, gym all great!!

Great front desk service. Parking, not so great for big vehicles and if I would have known, we would have taken a different car. Room was clean but the outlets need an upgrade (old and dirty).

Perfectly fine stay. Hotel was being renovated and some services (ice machines) were missing or unavailable. Would have been nice to know about the renovations before booking, as the amell of paint and carpet glue was a bit strong. Worst parking garage in the world -- tiny garage, tiny spaces, pillars everywhere, stairs only -- no elevator, and the corkscrew to the roof is atrocious. Do yourself a favor and park on the roof by using the Devine Street entrance.

The parking garage is a very tight squeeze, and there is no valet parking. The hotel is within walking distance of several different restaurants which is very convenient. The room was a little noisy though and there was a lot of street noise we could hear throughout the night. I would stay here again, especially if I had an event at USC.

This was a great spot to stay, to tour the USC campus. The hotel shuttle was super convenient (shout out to Cynthia, our awesome shuttle driver!), and there were so many restaurant options within the radius of the shuttle service. Riley & April at the front desk were also fantastic, and provided excellent customer service.

The parking garage is not set up for large cars it is narrow and spaces are narrow. My room was nice but bathtubs was old and peeling bottom to tub and not clean caulk around tub. Mirror also was old and had damage to it

It was ok we had a slow hostess with a mask on that made us uncomfortable. We also had a stained pillow case with pinkish red blotches all over it which was gross and not clean

Property was..... Eh? The room size was good. There was no central light just various lamps around room you could only turn on and off at base. Had mini fridge but no safe, the shower was adequate , tv was weirdly off to the side from bed. The view was of the pool at ground level so shades just stayed shut. Our biggest gripe was we put the do not disturb sign on door and when we returned from an outting the sign was gone (never did find it again) and our room had been tied up (bed made and items piled together yet strangely no new towels and nothing missing so not like a theif. Just irritating. The staff was curteous and professional, but the elevators had button damage, when we exited room this morning the hall had trash it it all round like we missed a major party. The parking lot was serviceable but has a 6' hight limit and frankly difficult to navigate lanes/spaces. The shuttle was nice when it ran.

The parking garage has a relatively low clearance for large sized trucks. I didn't risk entering it (along with a couple of others) and opt to park around the back which was a little inconvenient. The room was as advertised. No smells, spacious, new looking, comfortable. The price charged was commensurate with the room and amenities.

This is in a great location, however, if you have a room facing the front street, plan to hear a ton of traffic noise all night long. It was very noisy and the windows do not offer any insulation from the sound.

Everything was clean but the hvac was very noisy and so was the fridge and street noise was terrible wont be staying there again.

We picked this hotel because it was closest to our child's dorm at USC. Was a great location, walkable to all of campus, and quiet once inside. Bed was comfy, everything was clean. Nice surprise of warm cookies in the afternoon! Room was spacious, bathroom was tiny. Parking is SUPER TIGHT. Would not recommend for large trucks/SUVSs

Great hotel...great staff...clean...my only issue...bathrooms are really small...the door is installed on the wrong side...u have to actually close the door to get in the shower....

the shower didnt have much water pressure. They put me in a suite but I could hear all the traffic and outside noise all day and night. Overall. the stay was okay.

Rooms look/seem old, lobby was nice, people were friendly. But the room looked dated and we had a view of some portion of the awning/roof- so that wasn’t great.

Great location and Andrew are desk made it a great experience. There was an unexpected maintenance issue in our room when we checked in and he made it right with no hesitation. Also greater is every night and remembered why we were there.

I was very impressed with all of the employees; Ms Minnie at the desk, Latia in the kitchen. Could not ask for more personable, helpful and friendly people to represent Marriott!

This property is basically on campus of U of SC. It’s a basic Marriott Courtyard but …. The staff is what sets it apart. Never have I stayed at a hotel and been treated so wonderfully. EVERY staff member made us feel wrlcome, was helpful, and we spotted them soo much. Only recommendation is the bar area is Altra bright at all hours which is kinda off putting but prob by design 😂.

My oldest daughter and I made reservations a month in advance. We reserved a room with 2 queen beds. However, when we arrived we were asked if we would be okay with a king bed. I politely said no as we had booked a room with 2 queen beds. I was then told that there were no more queen suites available because the hotel had overbooked. Now, please explain to me how you can overbook the rooms when I reserved this room a month in advance! If you know that your hotel only has a specific amount of queen suites, then you should only book that amount. My daughter and I arrived at the time of check in, so there was no reason for us not to have our room. We also stood at the desk waiting for 10 minutes to check in while the other hotel clerk was on the phone. She never even acknowledged us. Finally another employee came up and asked if she could help us. On a positive note, the room we were given, though very small, was exceptionally clean and we were offered a free snack from the hotel snack bar for our inconvenience. Would I stay here again, sadly no. Out of the three hotel employees that I made contact with, only one of them was courteous and attentive. I travel quite often and was very disappointed with my experience at this hotel.

The property was very, very nice, clean and inviting. The staff was nice and definitely provided great customer service. My only caution is they had a horrible time checking me in because I prepaid for my stay via Hotels.com. They actually charges me again ( more) for the stay and I had to make multiple trips to the front desk and have the General Manager intervene to resolve the issue. I loved the hotel and would stay again but I think I would book directly with Marriott.

The staff at this hotel is what made it stand out amongst the competition. They were beyond welcoming and friendly and communicative. There is a fair amount of road noise with a street facing room but that is not a reflection on the hotel or staff but more just a fact of the downtown location. I will be staying here for each of my visits while visiting my student over the next 4 years!

The hotel was clean and very up to date. But, the man at the front desk was extremely rude. I have never checked into a hotel and had someone talk to my family the way he did. He wouldn't even tell us where our room was. I told him we have a U-haul trailer and adked is parking available and we were told you have to pay for 2 spots and there was room, even through I asked prior to booking we had to wait an hour before we could get parking. I will never stay again, nothing to the hotel, but extremely rude male at the check in desk. I never leave a bad review until now

I used my October stay to review on Expedia. I am sitting here for my Nov 4 check. I'm in the deserted lobby with our group after midday and missing a football game a couple of miles away because the employees here won't even make the ABSOLUTE MINIMAL effort to make a room available for early check in. I saw the check outs over an hour ago. I know housekeeping has at least one room cleaned and reviewed but God forbid your staff do the bare effing minimum to accommodate a family that's travelled hundreds of miles from another state to make a football game. God forbid you even make the slightest effort on an absolutely quiet day to make the day of your guests. This hotel is a disgrace to the Marriott brand for us as Marriott Bonvoy members. Absolute disgrace and your staff and management should go under the strongest performance management. I think you should really consider who your guests might be, their buying power. People speak to friends and family. People make purchasing decisions for corporations. I have always been a major Marriott brand fan and always choose to stay at one of the hotels anywhere we travel. Hilton is as reputable and you know what, I doubt we will be returning to this establishment and will seriously question any future Marriott property in the future. Disgrace.

Literally every single person we encountered who worked at this Courtyard was beyond helpful. The staff who walks around making sure everything is fine (nice man showed us how to work our door), lady setting up Happy Hour brought my husband a water for no reason, guy at the coffee bar extra nice and helpful, cleaning ladies. I was just a bit taken aback by the extra that they all did. Wasn't expecting it and I rarely write reviews. Perfect location for USC or a show at Koger Theater, which is why we were there. Bed super comfy, snacks downstairs. Two thumbs up for those extraordinary people!

They are in the middle of renovations, but that didn’t disturb us at all. We stayed in a not yet renovated room, and it was fine so I’m sure they will be very nice when done. It was the week before Christmas, so the whole area was very quiet, almost ghost town. I’m sure that isn’t the case when school is in session. We were there for a performance at the Koger Center - a very short walk away. We ate at a lovely place, also easy walking distance.

Great location near the University of South Carolina.

The property is in a great location but extremely noisy!! Trains, the sports teams stay and are very noisy

Overall an “ok” experience. Disappointed that we checked in and were told we could order off a limited menu, but later found out kitchen was closed and NO food available.

The sheets were rough and itchy. First time I've ever experienced that at a hotel. There was no lotion in the room. It seemed like a very bare bones place. Breakfast is not free, nor is there any service. The only option is to order off a board that is Starbucks. We will not stay there again.

It is across the street from the college. So many intelligent friendly and fun people. All walks of life. I sat at the bar had a drink. I ordered a burger and immediately met friends on each side of me. So friendly and fun. Even the service was exceptional and friendly.
