Only thing the pool was closed for repair so that was one of the main reasons for booking this hotel. Wish the hotel had a better bar. In my opinion the Hilton down the street is a better hotel. SonNext time I’m in norfolk i will not be staying at this location but the Hilton instead.

Great place to stay for events at Waterside and an easy safe walk to The Norva. I scored this for a little less than the courtyard price and it came with a better location and water view. Pro tip: Self Park directly across the street but don’t forget to scan your room key!

The pool area looks nice on the surface but it’s definitely in need of A LOT of cleaning & repairs. You can see a line of filth on each white height marker tile inside the pool. There are open holes where pool safety railings were removed in MULTIPLE spots. Moldy & mildewy ceiling tiles. Pieces of the “stucco” ceiling parts were falling off. Holes in ceiling. You can’t sit on the pool ledge with your feet in the water because the floor paint is peeling off and will get all over your hands, legs, & swimsuit. Gray electrical box is coming right off the wall on post next to the pool.

The other guwere alloto yell and scream in the lobby and in the hallway of the 14th floor until wee hours in the am. The 2 of the 4 elevators did not work. It was a nightmare trying to get a n elevator to go down to the lobby when checking out.

Having a city garage across the street with a direct access from the 3rd floor was very convenient. Also an easy walk to the maritime museum and the Wisconsin. Nice breakfast room on the 2nd floor and adjacent restaurant on the ground floor was excellent.

The service was good. Hotel clean and updated, though the craftsmanship of the updates looks like someone was new at painting, hanging things, etc. Linen was clean and no weird smells. Pricy parking and valet, with a confusing way to get to/from the garage to the hotel. They provide instructions on a piece of paper, because they are aware it’s convoluted. Probably need more signage around the garage and inside the hotel, which would elevate the confusion.

Everything was great- staff was friendly and the views were beautiful. Only downside is the parking. Valet is very slow and the garage gets pricey. Would definitely recommend this hotel!

Did not have a very good experience. Had to wait over two hours beyond check-in time for our rooms, did not receive the requested room types that we had reserved. Towels in the room were filthy, when we stepped on the bathroom floor water came up between the floorboards. Front desk, staff was not apologetic and not willing to compensate. Eventually spoke with management and they did provide appropriate compensation. Not sure we would stay there again.

We moved rooms (staff was nice about it) for cleanliness - first room had a water bottle still in it and dirt on the floor. Second room still looked dirty - turns out when a very nice cleaning staff member went back in it was nail polish on the floor and the counter. But it looked dirty. And frankly like blood on the floor by the toilet. Lots of wear & tear. It was convenient and in a nice walkable area but personally I’d say stay somewhere else.

Location was fantastic. Hotel was up to date. Service was outstanding. The staff were very friendly and accommodating—particularly the front desk and car valet team. I rate cleanliness low. We had to wipe down everything in the room to remove hair, dried food, and makeup from prior guests. The showers could benefit from tilex to remove mold and mildew. Thankfully we didn’t spend much time in the hotel.

The hotel was old, neglected, and dirty. Towel bars were broken, wallpaper was peeling, marks on the wall in several places and light switches did not work properly. The elevators smelled like urine. The beds were uncomfortable and we could hear hotel room doors, slamming shut and housekeeping vacuuming other rooms as early as 7 AM. It was not a pleasant experience and was quite surprising for a Marriott.

Several family members stayed at this hotel this weekend. At least two rooms on different floors had clogged sinks, with one dripping water on the floor. The other had a clogged sink and shower. There was hair stuck to the wall of the shower. In addition there was an open soap wrapper and bar of soap on the sink.

We really disliked the glass door for the bathroom. We always leave bathroom light on during the night, but close the door most of the way. Through the tinted glass door our room was then MUCH too bright during the night. Also, mattress was just okay.

Everything was good and would have rated it excellent but I need a cup of water around 10-11 pm. I went to the front desk to ask for a cup of water and was told that I had to purchase a bottle for $3. Thinking there should be another option to obtain an 8 oz cup of water. Also it would be great to have a microwave in the room or at least one on each floor instead of having to go downstairs to the lobby.

Do not stay at this hotel. When I arrived, the front desk, staff were frankly rude. They made no effort to explain anything about the hotel, such as the location of the gym or the restaurants. I had a problem with my key and couldn’t get into my room. After two trips to the front office desk, they sent up a maintenance person to let me into the room. He opened the room…… And it was an occupied room. The woman that was staying in the room walked up as I was walking out of her room. To say that it was an awkward and uncomfortable conversation is an understatement. I went back down to the front desk a third time, and explained this terrible situation. The front desk staff were very nonchalant, and basically brushed me off. I would never stay at this hotel again.

The staff was nice. I was not happy, however, with the reservation/check in process. I was provided an email to select a check in time. I was arriving on a cruise ship around 9am. The email from the hotel gave me an option to select a check in time of 10 am. I selected that so I did not have to lug my belongings around and find something to do until check in. When I arrived I was told I can't check on until after noon at the earliest! Why offer that time and allow me to select it if we can't do that! I had to wait around for hours! They did offer to keep my luggage behind the counter, but I was tired and had to wait around for hours before I could check in!

I will not stay at the Norfolk Waterside Marriott again. When I checked in, I was greeted by indifferent staff that made it clear that were inconvenienced that I was checking in. They did do their job, but just barely. I was not greeted, I was not given explanation about parking or dining or even where the elevators were located. When I went to my room, the key did not work. I went back to the front desk to have the key fixed.....it did not work again, and a service person was sent to my room. He opened the door....and the room was already occupied by a woman. It was a frightening, embarrassing, scary experience. When I went back to the front desk again, no one apologized or explained the situation. In fact, the staff acted like me entering a strangers room was not a big deal. The hotel's valet parking is inefficient. It took a long time for them to retrieve my car. The hotel restaurant was good.

From my arrival Zaharia checked me in! She has the heart of leadership, her question to me was” how can I make your stay better?” And she did! I want to thank her for her caring and sharing, I was there for the jazz band competition, and the band from Huston Tollison was the first winner, my reason for being there! No issues with my room I want the hotel to get top rating. Leroy and Antoine from the concierge were very professional and such a pleasure to talk to!!

I stayed overnight on a business trip. I had a few challenges checking in - it seemed their card reader couldn’t read my cards. After that snafu, I found the hotel to be nice, clean and quiet. The hotel was in a good location just a short walk to my meeting. Looking out my window I noticed a little waterfront district, and it was a nice place to spend some time that evening. It was a little tricky to find it, but I had a nice breakfast in the restaurant the next morning. Overall, a great stay.

Close to the Chrysler event location Nice restaurants within walking distance from the hotel. Don't forget to ask about "Fred", a free shuttle service provided by the City of Norfolk. We tipped the driver of course; who was a very knowledgeable man extremely good at his job who shared points of interest about the City on our ride.

Staff was friendly and efficient. I don't like the not making the room up, they missed it on day 2. But room was large, bed okay, having a desk with outlets was awesome for a road warrior. The restaurant was a different story, service was rotten. The wait staff were standing in the back behind a wall talking and did not bother to poke there head out to see if anyone was waiting. The menu was pricey and limited.After waiting a few minutes, I walked back and asked them if I should seat myself. I had the salmon and it was excellent.

We had a wonderful stay. The hotel was beautiful. We stayed in a Riverview suite on the 18th floor. The room was clean and well maintained. The rain head shower, hot water and water pressure was on point!!! We found the bed to be extremely comfortable. Room service has some great options on the menu. I’d personally recommend the personal pan pizzas! The indoor pool is on the 6th floor with beautiful views through the glass vaulted ceiling. Water was cool, but quickly became comfortable. We were here Labor Day weekend 2025, but the pool was mostly empty when we used it. Lots of dining and shopping options on the area. The breakfast was included in our stay (as an add on we purchased while booking our stay). Lots of options including an omelette bar. Check-in and check-out was fast and smooth. All of the staff were polite and professional. We will definitely be back again!! Thank you.
