Advertised as having a swimming pool. It does not have a swimming pool. Booked here three years ago, again advertising their non existent pool. Why are they still allowed to say they have a pool. Lots of complaints at checking out, all saying they had booked this hotel especially for the pool. It would not surprise me if in three years time it is still advertising a non existent pool.

We had a lovely stay and enjoyed the hotel lobby, rooms and restaurants. It was just soured a little when we found out we had to pay to use the swimming pool, which wasn't clear. Swimming pool is free if you book directly with the hotel.

Great property but still in the middle of renovations so pool,spa unavailable great friendly staff especially at the bar and reasonable prices would definitely return maybe in another year when hopefully completed

Enjoyed the gym and pool too far to walk from main hotel building though. Reception area, bar area and restaurant all clean and modern. Food in restaurant was good.

Lift not working, pool, spa, gym under refurbishment despite stating it would be finished in January 2024. Keys to the doors not working and having to contantly walk up and down stsirs.

Lovely hotel - reception area, bar and restaurant and room were newly renovated to an excellent standard. Only complaint is the room walls were quite thin so I could hear the room next door. Facilities (spa and leisure centre) are currently undergoing refurbishment so were not open during my stay but this was reflected in the price. Would highly recommend for a business or leisure stay.

Okay hotel, booked for pool and spa only to discover pool has been closed for over 6months for refurbishment.

At the check in desk there was no record of our reservation so we had to wait about 30 minutes until it was sorted out. Check in staff were friendly but everything seemed very slow. We’d booked a suite which we didn’t realise was one of the cottages/lodges rather than the main hotel which was a bit disappointing. Room was spotlessly clean and comfortable but despite it being a hot day, the room/cottage was absolutely freezing so remember to put the heating on! Restaurant was great, really lovely food and excellent service. Pool are looks a bit tired and the spa isn’t finished yet despite us being told it was done

The hotel reception area is beautiful, but the rest of the hotel is just nasty. The glass doesn't look like it's been cleaned since forever. The doors down the many corridors are filthy. You really didn't want to touch the door handles. On my long walk to my room I passed an emergency exit, which had a sign saying please keep closed. The door didn't shut it was just blowing in the wind which made feel very unsafe. My lock didn't work, if I locked the door I could just turn the handle and it would open. There was a mark on my duvet cover that looked like spilt red wine. No telephone in the room. Dark and dingy. I didn't sleep as I didn't feel safe. I put the chair under the door handle. The bathroom was very clean though and the towels were clean and fresh. Walking around the exterior was a strange experience, what is a beautiful stone building was surrounded with graffiti walls advertising gaming. Everything was run down and boarded up.

The room we were given was filthy and despite allowing the duty manager to attempt to resolve the issues, we were still extremely dissatisfied. The housekeeping staff member only hoovered the floor and left mess behind him. There was no attempt to actually sanitise the space even after finding dirty, bloody tissues there. The body odour left behind from the actual member of staff doing the cleaning was also disgusting and stayed in the room after he had finished and gone. We tried to deal with this entire issue at reception at the time but were stonewalled by the manager. We agreed to leave the premises after he assured us that a refund for the room and the breakfasts we had paid for would only be possible via the finance department as he was unable to process a refund due to Hotels.com holding funds for 2 days after the day of the booking. If you need full details of our complaint and the unsatisfactory way we were treat we will be happy to elaborate however the Manager and duty manager are already fully aware of the issues We look forward to a full refund as soon as possible Ps we are also still waiting for the £50 damage deposit to be refunded to us. I hope this can be resolved without the need to contact the ombudsman to escalate this issue further. I am more than willing to do so o xx however as a refund is more than deserved.

The toilet was filthy and the carpet was full of dust like it hadn't been hoovered for a long time, since being taken over by this company the staff are terrible they look you up and down and are not very friendly people

Very noisy all night. Bedrooms had cobwebs in all corners. Only stayed 1 night as it was such a poor sleep.

Nice hotel, which was in an easy location off the motorway. We stayed here to split up our drive from Scotland to Plymouth. Room was very hot, and looked like it needed a deep clean. Pool and spa facilities are not close together. Pool could do with some hooks for towels on the wall. Not bad for the price we paid.

Room was clean and amazing shower, lobby areas and reception clean with friendly staff. Restaurant is definitely worth a visit, the food was delicious. Bed comfy, good internet, maybe a fan to cool room is something that would have been nice, but overall a very enjoyable stay. Didn’t use the spa areas this visit so can’t comment and some outside areas around the hotel are maybe still be part of the renovation,

Carpets filthy curtains filthy windows smashed bathroom was a disgrace never been cleaned will not be returning

Overall very disappointed, the hotel is currently under going refurbishment and clearly not finished, we were allocated room over front entrance very noisy lots of people smoking and talking into the early hours. DJ loading equipment at 2am and another at 6am. Room was dirty and windows never cleaned, dust in every corner.

Great Gym and swimming pool, staff - polite but not very good, lift not working(a pain if your on the 2nd floor, and your of some years, and no staff to help you with your bags), just an old tired place, having a re- vamp, but not ready yet. Room was nice, but the clears are not very good. Could be so much better - so much potential

I got an adjoining room. Never asked for one but took it anyway. I felt i was lying next to the woman next door that continually coughed. I could easily hear what she was watching in her IPad and whose morning alarm went off 4 times between 5am and 6am. Oh and to top it off the hotel gave us another early morning fire alarm at 6am.

The hotel entrance was lovely, it wasn’t until u went to the room an they where very dated could do with a re-vamp with most uncomfortable beds ever like you was sleeping on a board so had the worse nights sleep. Not much to do in the area not many places to dine out.

Staff lovely and helpful but No lifts , lifts broken , in 60’s and struggled to climb 48 stairs up and down 3.5 times . Didn’t go out of room due to this. Mattress needs replacing on 1 side of bed , could feel springs, ( 2 beds in 1 large bed ). Quilt cover not big enough, turned the other way but quilt cover didn’t fasten .

Fully refurbished in 2024 but Rooms not all as the images show. Some are clearly not refurbished and are dated. So be mindful that what you see when booking may not be what you get. I booked a Junior Suite, the room I got looked and felt cold and empty, dated and not as the images when I booked. Reception staff were great at getting me moved to a more modern, comfortable and relaxing room. Although I could hear the rodents scurrying around in the ceiling! Dinner here was excellent. I had the Chicken curry which was great.

I regret to have to give this 3 stars because I think if I return in a year it'll be an excellent place to stay. It's clearly just been bought out by Radisson as it's not finished it's refurbishment. The furniture is all brand new, the lobby is great. Room was nice (although didn't have all the amenities advertised, and it was the most expensive room). The gym is state of the art. but the pool was not in use. You could use the steam room/sauna, but you had to walk out of the changing rooms and round a few corridors to access which would be fine except there were no robes or slippers provided. Also, I presume because occupancy is very low due to refurbishments, they were very low on staff. Often no one at the bar in the lounge and I had to walk into the separate restaurant to ask for a member of staff to serve me twice. I think it *will* be good. But right now, it isn't.

Junior Suite wasn't as advertised. Pictures showed a nicely decorated room, which we didn't recieve. Room was unclean, popcorn the floor, dust everywhere, and questionable bedding. Walls were damaged, and poorly repaired (landlord specials), strange, offputting sewage water smell throughout the hotel. Fire alarm went off at 3am for 5 seconds, with no explanation or appology the next day. During checkout, reception didn't seem to care about our stay, seems we pulled the person away from a personal phone call. Wouldn't call it a spa hotel. There was a pool, and steam room that were ok, but the sauna wasn't hot. Would have been nice to have been preinformed that a £1 coin was required for the lockers, as the spa isn't quickly accessible from rooms during our visit.

I booked a junior suite. The room was really bare. No TV in the bedroom, only a bed, and wardrobe. The lounge had only a sofa and a desk. The hand soap was empty. Also the shower gel was empty too. I had to get out of the shower and find some in my case. The heating made a banging noise all night at random times. The door didn’t open and lock properly. I had a key card that was a waste of time as the door was broken. I had to back to reception and get a regular key to open another lock that had been added. When the door was locked it was not safe as it moved back and forth an inch. Very disappointed! Definitely not suite quality!

Slightly grubby and ageing towards the rear rooms, and rooms very basic. Expensive drinks in the bar.

Couldn't find our booking but had been emailed during the week. Query over rate charged and lift stopped between floors whilst inside. Seemed understaffed

This hotel has a problem. They are mid-renovation and selling unfinished rooms to guests. They pretended that we were getting an upgrade and then resold our original room booking. We won’t be returning.

Honestly the worst experience I have ever had ! I work away a lot and stay in hotels every week. I was checking in after 18:00 and the receiptionist told me that my room was not ready, by then I have finished 10 hours of work and wanted to take a shower beofre I head to my next job. I was at receiption for a full hour, he asked me to pay for my room, I told him I paid already, he said ok pay half again, I refused and showed him proof that I have paid already, he said, word for word: ''we can take money out of your account without permission''. I have asked for another room that is ready, he kept making excuses, he was raising his voice at me and cuts me off everytime I speak, he gave me a look like he was about to hit me. After the unecessary converstaion and wasting valuable time, he found out that I have actually paid the amount in full and gave me my key. I then went to my room and yes you guessed it, the key wasn't working. I had to go downstairs again and have a new key coded. Never again !! There is a Ramada not far from there that I have stayed in previously, and it is absolutely fine and is withing the price range.

Had a great stay. The staff are all great. I got the sense that many of the staff are quite new - but they are all really helpful and kind. The restaurant and bar are also really good. The rooms are clean and well appointed and modern. I will definitely come back.

Lovely hotel with nightclub next door. Very convenient Only problem was water was cut off in the night and didn't get put back on. Nobody seemed to care. No apology. No compensation. It was very unhygienic and very inconvenient

Lovely staff. I got a late check out for£25 extra which was amazing after a night out. The hotel is really lovely. By a gorgeous lake. Nothing was too much for the staff. I was given an extra blanket on request. I would not hesitate to recommended this hotel with lovely country pubs a walk or uber away. Thankyou. Amelia Jones

On overnight stop great people and service. Easy parking close to M6 .

Although the hotel is close enough to the M6 to hear the distant relentless traffic, the road access to it is many miles in any direction and is slightly tricky to find, but has a countryside feel to it. The approach road to the property is in a severely damaged state with multiple pot holes and is totally unlit at night. My request for a high floor room was honoured. Sometimes when I opened the door to my room, and every time I went into the bathroom there was a strong stench of cigarettes - the area was meant to be smoke free. My room card had to be recoded every day during my stay and there was no housekeeping after day one. I was given a spacious family room and it had a large TV, though the remote required pressing as many times as the numerical difference between the channels. Free toiletries were provided on day one and the bath tub shower was wonderful and easy to use. Reception staff were pleasant enough. All things considered a reasonable price was charged.

Thoroughly enjoyable stay. Lovely location and the newly refurbished rooms are excellent, especially the double/twin rooms. Special thanks to the receptionist Debbie for the assistance during the stay.

The door was damaged and wouldn’t lock. We changed rooms because of this. We were given an upgrade. Well the kettle didn’t work the walls had marks all over them. A really shoddy room. I won’t be staying in this hotel again which is a shame because it’s a lovely location.

Where to start!! Having arrived after dark and driving through the grounds you’d easily be mistaken for thinking you had entered some apocalyptic event with the haunted remains of the old Camelot theme park still very much present. I get that it’s a big site with investment being made, but surely the owners should be making sure the guests initial approach is made far more welcoming. The reception of the hotel was however a pleasant surprise and has been done up to a fairly decent standard, although freezing cold, something they were clearly aware of as temporary heaters appeared on our 2nd day. The staff were very polite, friendly and hospitable. Most were clearly aware of the challenges this hotel faced and were very apologetic for some of its failings. We were staying in one of the two bedroom apartments. Having been directed to drive around to car park 6, clearly still part of the theme park era, bouncing through crater sized potholes in the pitch black with no lighting and very limited signage (be careful and drive slowly or face a huge repair bill for your vehicle) we arrived at the cottages. From the outside they looked very dated and tired, but once inside I was pleasantly surprised by how clean, tidy and warm it was. It is such a shame that management/owners just don’t appear to notice the rubbish littered around the entire site, such an easy fix but clearly a big oversight. Having arrived late on our first night we decided on a meal in the hotel restaurant.

Great hotel but local transport not regular if not driving, prepare to get taxis

The hotel was lovely. Staff polite and helpful. A lot of building improvements going on but didn't disturb my stay. Food was delicious.

Polite and helpful staff, room was clean and well presented. No complaints at all about the stay but would caution against the breakfast; I was asked on checking in if I wanted to pay for breakfast which I did, the following morning I was informed that my choices were a very limited continental buffet, or full English breakfast. Any other breakfast items (even those cheaper than the full English) would be charged extra. I acquiesced to the full English and went to get some toast- the toaster machine drops the toast onto counter at the back of the machine, meaning you have to reach underneath and drag your toast out. I pointed this out and was told they didn’t know where the capture was to stop this. I cancelled my breakfast order and requested a refund which was processed immediately, the staff were very apologetic about it so I cannot fault the service at all.

First evening meal took an hour for a soup starter to arrive! Once they realised they had messed up they were very good. £20 meal deal is excellent value. Breakfast eas very good. Room was spacious with access to verandah.

Only ok and a bit disappointing. Being completely honest I expected more from this hotel, as soon as we arrived I felt disappointed and it unfortunately continued. The car park is definitely not big enough, we got the last space and driving around the outdoor area seemed sketchy, particularly the abandoned looking buildings to the side. Check in took an age, the priority seems to be trying to up sell on meals. Rreception, lobby and bar areas were all lovely and we felt hopeful again about our room. Once in the room on first look it seemed great but after a few minutes we realised it was a little dated, there weren't enough towels for the 3 of us and it wasn't as clean as we'd expect. We were with our 1 year old daughter and I wasn't happy enough to let her sit on the floor. Amenities in the room great - hairdryer, iron, ironing board, tea & coffee making facilities. Bed was clean and comfy, a great night's sleep. The food in the restaurant was nice, both in the evening and then again for breakfast, definitely the best bit about the hotel, they were also more than accommodating of my daughter's severe milk allergy and nothing was too much trouble. Please note though the bar and restaurant are cashless, this isn't stated anywhere and one of the waiters even said he'd get in trouble for accepting it. Can't comment on the spa facilities as we didn't have time but the extra charge for the pool was bad in my opinion. I'm afraid I wouldn't recommend and wouldn't return

For what i needed it was fine. Just expensive then to pay for breakfast on top...wow. Got there later after a full day at work, needed to be up and out of the room early so wanted to grab a quick bite to eat in the restaurant. There was literally 2 other tables waiting for food and ours took over 40 minutes to bring 3 meals out. The Boy behind the bar did NOT look any older then 16 and was serving Alchol, He didnt even know how to make my order? How is this acceptable? Beds where nice and clean. However the shower/bath edge was very mouldy Also no soap in the toliet...what areyou meant to wash your hands with... what hotel doesnt have had soap in each room! Little disappointed with my stay

I was pleased with the check-in and was asked about dinner or breakfast which I wasn't certain about. I did decide to go to the bar in the evening and had a starter and a portion of chips with a soft drink. I can only applaud the chef as I had the best Chicken Tikka starter and portion of chunky chips.It far exceeded what I was expecting. The chicken Tikka and salad was exeptional.

We was attending a wedding, the food was very poor.
