When I checked into this hotel the entire lobby was rented out by a private party for 2 days. I have been to many hotels in my lifetime never seen a lobby of a hotel rented out for a private party. Question to hotel management where do you expect your hotel guests to sit and relax when the lobby is off limits for a couple of days?

Staying at this hotel feels like staying in a museum, with many historical moments beautifully captured and displayed for guests to enjoy. The Turkish bath in the spa is a must-try — it was the most relaxing experience we’ve had in a long time. Breakfast was amazing, and the location is just a few minutes' walk from many great shops and restaurants. I would definitely recommend it to any history buff.

This is a beautiful and historical hotel. It’s rough around the edges - in need of a renovation and a more thorough clean but it’s gorgeous nonetheless. Our room felt like going back into the past. I would say, however, I was very disappointed by the spa area. It was dirty and run down. Overall though the beautiful rooms, lovely breakfast and overall vibe make up for it

Nice property but Expedia vip access is a JOKE. Also swimming pool was extremely cold making it unusable. Hot tub broken. Breakfast very generic with standard continental choices (similar to a 3* hotel)

What a wonderful historic place. The staff was very warming and welcoming from start to end. Location couldn’t be any better for both walking around and sightseeing. Drinks were amazing in the speakeasy style bar and big shout out to the bar staff as they were the BEST! Will definitely stay here again in the future.

We loved our stay at the Pera Palace hotel. From the moment we walked in, we were treated like VIPs. The hotel team quickly gathered our bags and we didn't touch them until they were safely deposited in our room. The front desk staff was informative about amenities and breakfast offerings, and we were given rose tea to drink while they checked us in. We were taken up to our room in the historic elevator since it was our first time staying in the hotel-such a neat feature. Our room was upgraded to the Greta Garbo suite (which was lovely). Water pressure and temp were excellent, which we had not experienced at other hotels during this trip, so that was a massive plus. We made use of the jacuzzi, steam room, and dry sauna, which were clean and quiet. We also ate in the parlor area after a long day of touring the city, and in the restaurant as well. All the meals we had were excellent and the service was over the top amazing- the staff recognized us and were friendly every time they saw us in and out of the restaurant. All the staff speak English, and they have a neat gift shop and museum features that we also perused, including the historic Ataturk suite- a lovely exhibition. The hotel is located an easy cab ride from most of the signature attractions of Istanbul, and was close to food and shopping. Shoutout to Ahmet, Esma, Umut, Ergün, Honde, Selim, and the entire team who made us smile (thanks also to housekeeping for the delightful chocolates)! Looking forward to next time!

Hope you like cold showers! Water took over 10 minutes to become lukewarm. Multiple hotel engineer visits never fixed it. Turkish bath that we were rudely kicked out of (even though we checked in advance) since there was suddenly a private massage session. Old hotel with poor management, rude service staff relying on its history to draw customers.

Amazing experience at the Pera Palace. This is a beautiful landmark hotel in the heart of Istanbul, 3 min stroll to the İstiklal Caddesi walkway. 5-star service, accomodations, and amenities. This hotel has great history including a museum on the first floor. The lobby is absolutely stunning as are all common areas of the hotel. Rooms are too. Full service spa in the basement with complimentary guest access to its turkish bath, sauna, steamroom and swimming pool with an "endless pool" jet mechanism for swimming laps in place. Staff was very responsive to our emails and meet all of our requests prior to arrival. Recommend 3-6pm tea time which we purchased in advance via email. Highly, highly recommend this hotel for all including couples, families, and business travelers.

The property was absolutely gorgeous and it does feel like you're stepping back in time to an incredibly glamorous era. The hammam and massage treatments were wonderful as well, and the hotel is in a great location with tons of shops/restaurants/bars within walking distance. However, there were some issues, like our room smelling very strongly like cigarette smoke from time to time, possibly from a neighboring rom? And we opened a bottle of water from the minibar to find it smelled a bit like cheese. So a few little things, but overall a tremendous stay.

The Pera Palace is an amazing hotel and the service is excellent. We had one major problem...there was a bad smell in the bathroom that seemed to come from the drains and it stayed throughout the trip, this was a big spoiler in the lovely hotel. The doormen are excellent, very helpful.

A Beautiful and old fashioned Istanbul hotel with a lot of history. Unfortunately, the facilities have not kept up. We had problems with our heating in the room. There was also a big party downstairs over the weekend which was extremely loud and did not allow us to sleep. The staff were extremely friendly though and excellent service.

Beautiful hotel, good to great service BUT if they’re having a function in their dining area which is in the center part of the building, surrounded by the guest rooms avoid getting the lower floors. I had room 116, one floor above the area. The noise is much too loud to sleep. I had to endure a wedding my first night and another event my 3rd night. Ear plugs do not block out the noise. The staff said maybe they could move me higher tomorrow morning. If you are a late night person, go for it.

We stayed on the second floor, and it was very noisy. There appeared to be wedding receptions or parties in the main lobby two nights, and there was loud noise from an outside nearby establishment. This affected our sleep and was very frustrating. The hotel itself, restaurant, foo quality, staff and other factors were very good.

Loved the unique history of Pera and the room was excellent, modern, sizeable, with a beautiful view of the Golden Horn and a comfortable bed. Location was excellent given its proximity to restaurants, transit and sites of interest in Istanbul. However, driving the last 100 m to Pera to have the valet park your car is an unavoidable test of nerves. Thank you to the front desk, valet and room cleaning crew. Breakfast was good overall but we suggest the following improvements: staff was inattentive to coffee and tea refills, melons were sometimes off, and the simit/bread generally stale, unbecoming of a hotel of Pera’s quality. Finally, an email in advance of our arrival to advise reserving for afternoon tea would have been appreciated. We were unable to enjoy this experience, despite being there for four nights.

Great looking building but serious need if upgrading. Heating system dis not work. It was 26 degrees when we arrived and they told me to open windows. When we did, there was very loud partying happening all around the hotel and noise insulation was next to none even with windows closed. Internet connexion really sucked. No way to do anything on it. Too bad because the place has great history and must have been gordious some years back but it’s just not up to current standards.

I had one unpleasant experience at the Pera Palace. A professional colleague came to welcome me when I arrived at the hotel. After the bellman had been tipped and it was time for him to go, he continued to stand in the doorframe treating my professional colleague as if she was a prostitute. Through his body language, it made it clear she needed to leave. She became embarassed and left. Totally unacceptable. Your bellman should not be the morality police.

The Orient bar and staff were excellent, but you do not need to stay there to go to the bar. When we arrived, we pulled up in a taxi at the entrance. Nobody offered help with luggage, and we had to fight past people to even get in the door! The reception staff seemed very unhappy/bored - not a warm welcome. The rooms are comfortable and spotlessly clean. Nice large showers. The room said Golden Horn view, but mainly was buildings and a main road with a slither of water. The young guy at the sap reception was lovely and welcoming, but the staff inside was rude. One girl sprayed me with a cleaning spray while I sat down after the sauna. If you want people to leave, ask! It was at least an hour before closing, though. We are glad we cancelled our Hammam service. Tom Tom Suites, Soho House and Divan are all much better options. The place's history attracts many people; while sitting in the bar, they even brought a tour group through! It's not an ideal stay to relax. I suggest just booking in for the afternoon tea or going to the bar and staying somewhere else. Though it is a very affordable option.

This was possibly the most enjoyable hotel stay we've ever had and, at age 65, we've stayed in many hotels. The staff here was unparralled. The hotel is supremely well run and their careful attention to detail is very evident in everything from the decor, food, drinks and cocktails, service, and even to the background music. We hated to leave and hope to return some day.

The Pera Palace is a ten out of ten. The staff is super friendly. I loved the rose tea ant check-in. Emma, the concierge, was so friendly and showed me to my room. We took the antique elevator. I enjoyed that very much. The room felt like home with nicely framed and paintings, graceful furniture, heavy curtains and an antique rug. The bedding was soft with an embroidered pillow case and the bed was quite comfortable. I liked the turn down service in the early evening. A friendly fellow would knock on the door and hand me chocolates. There were some very nice healthy dried fruit snacks and small pastries in the room. The place is part museum and the cafes and parlors were superb. I now have some very fond memories of Istanbul. Tekim at check out did a perfect job and the bellman Kemal was very helpful.

On arrival at the Pera Palace tired & flustered from the overnight train from Sofia, I went and left my glasses in the taxi. After a friendly greeting by the reception staff, Salih immediately took ownership of the issue. He got the hotels CCTV checked and through the police tracked down the taxi driver. The driver was by then off duty so Salih arranged for another driver to collect my glasses and take them to the hotel - now that's what I call excellent customer service! The hotel itself was beautiful and all the staff so friendly and helpful. Okay, it's not cheap (although the restaurant was very reasonable), but for a special occasion it's worth treating yourself.

Professional service, nice welcoming package of locals sweets, daily room services was impeccable. Location couldn't be better, just steps away from a busy street with shopping, restaurants and the entire Galata area is full of gems spots, from roof top bar, local bakeries, best barber services, you name it, all you need is there.

Located in, arguably, the city's fanciest area and with so many great restaurants, museums, and transportation links nearby, it's unbeatable. Incredibly friendly and helpful staff and fantastic ambience throughout - it really did feel like stepping back in time, in the best of ways.

This was our first trip to Istanbul and we couldnt have picked a better hotel than Pera Palace for this. Location is just perfect, a block away from famous Istiklal street, a few blocks from Galata tower and Bosphorus, tons of great restaurants and bars at doorsteps and completely safe and walkable area. The hotel itself is a living history, with so much of Turkey's history attached to it , its an experience on its own (with a still working smooth 1982 elevator, 2nd in Europe). Rooms are comfortable and nicely done. Certainly on the luxurious end of spectrum. Lastly, the staff was extraordinary, what a service ! Setting a new benchmark for 5 star service. One area hotel can do better is to include some more global food options (and some basic ones like pizza please?). Will definitely stay again. Give it a try.

Outstanding historical hotel. A must see even if you aren’t staying in the hotel, the historic lobby is so unique. One of the best breakfasts in the city, but don’t limit yourself to the hotel breakfast only since there are so many wonderful breakfast, lunch and dinner places around. The hotel staff were efficient and polite and just very professional. Loved our stay and strongly recommend over some of the more modern hotels if you want to experience Istanbul culture and history.
