Sonesta Essential Columbus

Less than friendly staff, bad/questionable area and very poor outdoor/lot lighting (looked to be operating on less than 20% power). I moved and parked my vehicle in an adjacent body shop's well lit parking lot. This business should charge far less for the service it provides.

Bedding was very soiled, not checked prior to arrival. Linens and cleaning only done on specific request even over 4 day stay. Lobby area unswept for hours. Breakfast was the same and without protein except on Sunday, even though food prices are not high. Desk left unattended while guests waited (staff watching show on phone around corner). We did love the 24 hr coffee machine, though. It was the highlight of the stay.

Everything was excellent

After returning to the room on the evening of check-in, I found water on the bathroom floor. I traced it to a leak from the sink. I reported it to the front and asked to be relocated, but there were no other rooms available. Thus, I cleaned the floor myself and put a trash can under the sink to collect the water. I also found that the fill valve in the toilet tank sometimes did not shut off even when the float lifted the shut-off lever as high as it could go. The water would continue to run into the overflow tube, eventually stopping for no apparent reason after 30 or more minutes had passed.
