Comfort Inn & Suites Cave City

We had booked this trip on hotels.com and booked the wrong date. The hotel had the power to cancel and refund but refused to do so. We asked to do so two weeks before our trip. We called, talked to customer service. We went in and talked to front desk and tried to do it online chat. They just kept giving us the run around. Then hotels com was bad with this too for not being clear on how the insurance works because I had insurance but when I tried to cancel the room it said I canceled the insurance. The check in was ok. The elevator is small and loud. Our room smelled musty and the ac didn't make the room temp stay down. The room was half cleaned. There was hair in the shower, on the walls and on the shampoo bottle. The towels had stains on them. There were 2 balls of hair on the carpet when you walked in. There were grease hand prints on the bedframe. There were stains on the bed skirt that were white won't mention was I assume that was. And they didn't even try to clean the top comforter on one of the queen beds it was also covered in hair and that's so gross. I took photos of everything for proof. I do think they changed the sheets when they "cleaned the room" but nothing else really.

Great stay, clean rooms, and friendly service. Breakfast was good. Pool was lean and well maintained.

The property is in need of some repairs. Elevator made scary noises. WiFi didn't work. Looks a little run down. Buttttt great location, front desk lady was a sweetheart, breakfast was decent, bed and pillows were super comfy.

Rooms were clean and functional. Staff was friendly. Breakfast area was clean and well staffed. Elevator sounded like it needs repair. Hall carpets need updating.

Perfect location for Mammoth Caves touring - approx 15-20 min drive to the visitor center. A few places to eat very close by. Hotel was totally adequate. Not the cleanest, but nothing that was majorly unclean either. Indoor pool kept the kids happy. Breakfast was fine - a few options plus a waffle maker. Easy access to the highway. Solid choice for the not-super-picky traveler.

pool needs serious work

The hotel was okay, but we were disappointed that the wifi was out and the pool was not open. Otherwise, it was relatively clean and acceptable for the price.

Stayed at Comfort Inn for 3 nights. Breakfast included, not many choices but everyday it was fresh. The room was spacious but AC didn't really worked, just fen and air was a little staffed. The shower was great, but I wish water in the pool would be warmer.

Staff has been very helpful and friendly, only drawback has been not quite enough parking

Unfortunately, our first room that we were assigned had a horrible musty smell. Went down and got reassigned to another room that didn’t smell as bad, but the bed was rotted and the tub bottom had a horrible creek that made it sound like you were gonna fall through the floor.

Check in was quick and easy. The hotel is showing it”s age. About one third of the bathroom tiles are cracked and loose. My wife found a small pile of fingernail clippings on the bottom sheet. Clearly the sheets had not been changed.

Mold on the curtains and brown liquid on the bedding. Stains were fresh and unwashed. They do not have enough housekeeping staff.

We got there at night and only needed a bed to sleep in, otherwise we would have requested a different room or hotel. The room smelled bad, almost like vomit. Sheets smelled sweaty. Even the new sheets they provided from the front desk for the pull out couch. I'm guessing they have a moldy wash machine not enough sheets for the pullout couch in the room. When we requested ones from downstairs, they only had 1 sheet large enough for it, so the 2nd sheet was a twin. No fitted sheets available. there was hair on the soap ledge in the shower indicating it hand't been washed well no conditioner in the dispenser bathroom floor tiles were all cracked

Got there early around 1. Couldn’t check in early. The bathroom was gross. Floor was dirty, hair on toilet and the shower tub floor crackled. The air conditioner was not cold. Not worth the money I paid for.

I found a bed bug on my pillow and nothing was done about it.

My family & I were there 3 nights, having 2 adjoining rooms (222 & 224) Each night we saw, in both bathrooms, 1 or 2 baby roaches. Our last night, my son found the momma roach and several babies under a lamp on the table that the microwave & mini fridge wete on. I hate bugs and this almost turned my stomach! The staff in this hotel were all very friendly & helpful...so the pool was refreshing....but the roaches....terrible!

Hotel was clean and staff was super nice! I would definitely stay here again!

Room was clean but it smelled very musty!! Even the sheets. The tub floor made such a loud creaking sound it made me nervous.

Hotel was not that clean and the room and second floor had a bad smell. Almost like vinegar. I would not come back unless it was the only room available for miles

The hotel is conveniently located about 20 minutes away from the Mammoth Cave Visitor Center, near the freeway. There are several restaurants nearby. The front desk staff person was super helpful and responsive. The pool was a typical small hotel size; breakfast was decent--eggs, sausage, cereal, make your own Belgian waffle, yogurt, bread, mini muffins. Our room was a bit dated with different colored paint on the walls where they had been patched. The beds were comfortable and the air conditioner worked well. Laundry had 1 washer and dryer that was $2.50 per load--a bit pricey. All in all, a functional, practical place to stay. Convenient access to Mammoth Cave National Park and several other local cave tour options.

Overall the stay was excellent. The room do not have individual thermostats to control the temperature in the room therefore it was difficult to control the Heating/AC to maintain the desired temp in the room.

Listen....I don't like to complain and I get that standards are different for different people. But this was a run down hotel with limited breakfast options. The walls were paper thin and the room was old. Our tile was cracked and had I had kids younger than 7 and 10, I would have needed to switch room so they wouldn't slice their feet open. Twice the manager came to our room asking if we were being loud at 6:00 p.m. and then again around 8:00 p.m. At 6:00 p.m. We did have a kid who was moving around the room with some speed. It wasn't anything that I thought was out of control, but we told her to settle down. At 8:00 p.m. We assured him that it was enough. Apparently because of the paper thin walls, they were lots of complaints and he was trying to figure out where the source of noise was coming from. He was very nice, but it was the early evening a Saturday night. There was limited food in the breakfast bar in the morning. Very small selections available. The hotel was run down and overall was not very clean.

The staff were exceptionally kind people, however, the property is VERY rundown. I would not be surprised if the couch in our room was from the 1980s. There was not a vent fan in the bathroom, and given the humidity of the area, I can only imagine how much mold was under the paint job. Not to mention how old the carpet was in the room.

It was a comfortable place to spend a night. It took the A.C. an hour or so to cool the room. Great place to stay if you are spending day at mammoth cave.

There was a slight "musty" smell when I entered the room, but didn\'t notice it after that. Room was nice, spacious, & clean. Outside lighting was very bright at night; If I hadn\'t had a clip to keep the curtains fully closed it would\'ve been shining in all night. I would stay there again.

We stopped for a quick sleep while on the road. It is fine with a good bed. Wi-Fi is very slow but adequate.

Clean facility extremely helpful staff. Enjoyed our stay. Would recommend to anyone going to Mammoth Cave.

Had difficulty during the check in, the room they assigned me had a very bad odor which my wife detected as soon as she walked into the room. The hotel representative told me they only had one other room available but the room will cost twice what I my reservation confirmation quote was. She explained that she was not able to adjust the price but will leave a note for the manage in the morning to have her review the issue and make the appropriate changes. The next morning before I left for the event my wife and I were attending, I check with the hotel front desk to make sure the night front desk attendant had left the note for the manager detailing the the problem with room during my check-in and the adjustment require for the room price for the room I was giving to resolve the issue with the room that was assigned for my reservation. The front desk representative told that she hadn’t, seen any note left for the manage to review. Again I when over the problem I had with the room during the checkin the night before. She wrote the information down and assured me that she would pass it on to hotel manager for review and adjustment as necessary. During the checkout the front desk representative told me the amount of my stay was twice the amount of my reservation I asked her to speak to the manager and I was told I was not allowed to speak to the manager since my reservation was made through a third party I needed to speak to the third party I went through the reservation.

Room was OK, but had a very strong mold/mildew smell. Bathroom sink was clogged. Front desk person was informed of the issue, and was indifferent. A simple "I'm sorry your room smelled like mold" would have been appropriate.

Staff did not pay attention to front desk. Waited a long time to check in could hear the staff person on a personal phone call on the other side of the wall. I had to make noise to get her attention. Check out the following morning had no staff. I waited, made noise, etc. Finally just left.

Very disappointed. We spent almost an hour while the front desk tried to get our door to work, toilet plugged, room smelled. They wouldn’t get us a different room. We were tired and just went to bed and tried to talk to the front desk in the morning and were told there was nothing they could do to make it right since we booked through Expedia.

We asked to switch location of room. The desk person had no problem with that and changed our room immediately. Thank you.

What a pleasant visit. For a moderate priced hotel, this was a real treat. It began with a warm and friendly reception from Ashley. She gave a description of the amenities, inquired about anything she could do to make our stay better, and was very efficient with our check in. That’s first class service! Thank you, Ashley. P The room was large, the bed and pillows very comfortable, and the linens used were very soft. I liked the brightly lit parking area too. There are a number of places to eat around the hotel. Easy on and easy off for travelers.

We have stayed at the Comfort Inn several times over the years. Always pleased with their service and the rooms. This trip was slightly different because the shower handle wouldn't go all the way to hot so I was unable to shower. I called the front desk and the Ladies came to my room and tested it too, when they couldn't get it to work they gave me another room. I was in an adjoining King suite so I was able to just go thru the adjoining door, I didn't have to take everything out in the hall or go far. That was nice. They were both very helpful and sweet.

The Hotel was perfectly located to the interstate I 65 ,with easy on and off access. The hotel was very clean and the breakfast was very nice as was the staff at the hotel. We would recommend them as a good place to stay.

Nice hotel, convenient location for going to Mammoth Cave. Stores and restaurants nearby. Pool in excellent condition.

The best thing about this property was it's location to Mammoth cave National Park. We could be at the visitor center in 15 to 20 minutes. The drive from the hotel into the park was quite easy as well. It was also only a 30 minute drive to the Bowling Green area. There is a Buc-ee's about 10 mi past the hotel as well. One of the biggest negatives for me was the breakfast. The eggs were a little bit bland. The waffles were good. I was a little disappointed that there were only 2 flavors of cereal. They had a plastic dispenser that they could load up with 3 different options. But they only had 2 different types, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and maybe they ran out of option 3. But you would think they could keep cereal on hand. I understand most hotels don't put as much emphasis on continental breakfast post pandemic, but I think they could do a little bit better. I thought the bed was fine, but my girlfriend felt like it was pretty firm. I also expected the indoor pool to be warmer than what it was. Overall it's a pretty good hotel. It's pretty clean. The room was nice. If you're looking for a giant Continental breakfast you will be disappointed. But if you're not picky and just want a waffle or a bowl of fruit loops this hotel will be just fine for you.

The hotel was very clean and well maintained. The price was very reasonable. I attended an event in Bowling Green. It was about a forty minute drive but well worth it considering the money I saved.

Continental breakfast substandard. I heard a lot of chatter from other quest. The rooms were clean but could have been more appealing.

This hotel was convenient to Mammoth Cave and was pretty clean. The breakfast was a little disappointing. The hot water for tea was sometimes brown and tasted like coffee, or wasn’t even hot. There wasn’t any ketchup for the eggs.

Clean comfortable room. Wonderful mattress. Delicious breakfast.

Overall, the hotel was fine. However, the breakfast was very disappointing. There were limited options and the same offerings every day. Very close to the Mammoth Caves.

Breakfast was one of the worst we have seen in our travels. back to Holiday Inn Express
