Bed broken and uncomfortable. Room very hot unable to control heat. AC not working and AC unit was dirty. Don’t get a room above 3rd floor if you’re a senior - no elevator, stairs narrow and steep. Room and bathroom are tiny.

Wifi didn’t work in our room. Even after telling the staff on first day of arrival it hadn’t been fixed. No fresh towels for entire stay (1 week). Towels were always wet- could not dry due to no hanging options in the room.

Clean room, excellent location, good price. No elevator, the room was not ready at 3:00 PM and the water in the shower has no pressure. Good experience overall.

I overall do recommend and would come back because of the good $ value. It's an apartment building converted into a hotel. The rooms are very cozy and the walk up could be challenging if you're lugging a large suitcase, but service is good, the room is clean and kept up well. Overall good value for $ (heads up if you're traveling for work and are relying on the Wifi, don't).

I loved my room with a coffee maker, microwave and fridge. Near subway and places to eat. But just not enough Kleenex and toiletries( look nasty to touch). I hope they individual portions toiletries or just clean the reusable containers really good. Good thing I bring my own toiletries. I would love to stay here again.

It's an inexpensive place, no elevator, everything is mid. Hot water, quiet, comfortable enough that I've stayed here twice now. You can't leave bags for the day as there's no one on duty - you just key in the front door and into your room with a code.

Such an amazing location! Staff could be more focused on making sure the basics are handled like clean rooms and bathrooms for their guests. Both were not turned over in between guests for us. It was way too lateafter a long day in NYC for us to complain.

There was a burning hot pipe right behind the head of our bed. We had no control over how hot that was. And it was uncomfortable. The bed was otherwise comfortable. The television did not work. The WiFi was very spotty. There were dirty tissues under the bed and detritus in the hard to reach corners around the bed. The fridge in the room either leaked water as it defrosted or froze our leftovers when I turned it up slightly. The bathroom was pretty nice. Staff was pleasant.

For the cost, the room was not well-appointed, cheap cabinets, one with broken, mis-matched doors, and one with water damage. A mirror hung off center in a weird location, holes in the walls, peeling paint, two mis-matched towels in the bathroom. But the bathroom seems "updated" and seemed clean.

The room was adorable. It was very clean and cute. Perfect for my solo adventure. I had a mini fridge and microwave which I wasn’t expecting. I booked a room with a bathroom/shower, it was also very clean and had toiletries. My only complaint is that my room got pretty warm during my stay. There was a fan that helped some but the AC unit didn’t work or maybe that was a me thing. Either way, it didn’t bother me enough to complain while I was there. Again, very cute hotel with tons of stores and restaurants in the area. I walked back and forth from Amtrak with no issues. I would absolutely stay again.

The room and the bathroom were clean before checking in. After changing the room, I had to use a bathroom that was in terrible condition (not cleaned for at least a 10 days, no hanger whatsoever, no hand soap, really low water pressure, etc.). I was promised by the staff that they will take care of it but they didn't. I had to switch to another room, because the window of the first one wasn't closing, but I had to spend the night on an open window in New York (the city that never sleeps) in 10oC (50oF). The first technician said he'd tape the window so at least it stops the wind, butt didn't do it and second.tech. said that it was the first one's job to repair it. Still I was given access to a storage room to get an extra blanket. After changing the room (without windows) I was sent by the staff to the same storage room to get hand soap. No compensation of any kind. Nevertheless the room was small but OK (comfortable bed, a fridge, a wardrobe, safe, iron, coffees maker and microwave), except the electronic access system. Once during the night the door was unlocked remotely, and it locked again automatically after a minute. The location though is close to perfect.

This hotel is what you need! Perfect location! If you have back problems make sure you ask for a lower floor room and prep yourself regarding the bed, it is very hard. Besides that the cleaning staff are very nice and friendly. It has everything you need if you are planning on visiting NYC and not planning on staying in your room for too long.

The hotel itself was good. It wasn't super luxurious, and my room wasn't the most spacious (nothing like in the pictures), but it definitely wasn't bad. It had a big bed, a microwave, coffee maker, refrigerator, mini closet, and TV. Yes, the bathroom is shared, and it's awkward sharing a bathroom with strangers (it appears to be 1:2 - one bathroom for two separate rooms), but it was clean and in good condition. If you want something cheap just to lay your head and put your stuff down, then this isn't the worst place to be. It's good and convenient - and conveniently priced. The water cooler was broken, though, so I had to go out (to the Halal trucks) to get a bottle of water. My stay was good, and maybe given the chance, I'd do it again.

Oh boy, I’m not sure where to start! Firstly, I was on the second floor and there is no elevator so I had to carry my luggage up and down 20 steps. When I got to my room, I quickly realized that I didn’t have a bathroom as it turns out the bathroom was shared with another room. To make matters worse, there were two drawers in the room in the bottom one didn’t open. Last but not least, there was no window in the room, which is illegal in New York City.

Nice little spot for the weekend! Small but clean room. I upgraded to have a private bathroom-plenty of hot water. Walls are thin, so can hear people in hallway, but wasn’t too bad. Just a few blocks from subway. Older hotel, so no elevator-stairs are a little steep, might be a little difficult with larger luggage. Read fine print for check-in, housekeeping, etc. I felt safe as a solo woman traveler, and would stay again.

pros: clean, location, no fills, VERY BASIC. Cons: NOISE!!!! you will not get any sleep here because the street right outside has plates and every time some is driving over it, you will absolutely hear it. I do NOT recommend staying here if you're just looking to rest your head, there are better options for a few more bucks.

Hotel doesn’t have an elevator and we were located on the 5th floor. Inside the room was a radiator that banged very loudly each night. Mattresses need to be updated.

I stay here several times a year as my business has me in the city a fair amount. It's a perfect location in Chelsea, away from the high tourism of midtown, and close enough to the great hangouts in the Village. Convenient to major subway lines, and the staff is always super friendly.

They are now operating as a limited-service hotel: no daily housekeeping service and front desk from the hours of 8am - 5pm. There are some staff not kindly. When I asked about facilities, they responded them , but they always said you should the mail that we sent.

Apparently they don’t maintain staff on site after 5 pm. But checkout is 3? But they send a really shady checking email that uses an off site form to take your drivers license and credit card info. I refused to do that but booked same day so wasn’t able to get a refund.

Staff onsite is very helpful. The problems are all with the absolutely inflexible reservation system. I’d booked one night and tried to add another. Nope, have to use Expedia. Now I’m in two different rooms and must transfer during our stay. Again staff made it easy to transfer but then was told I could stay in my original room which was a shared bathroom rather than the private bathroom. Nope. So staff had to move my bags and clean up room. Really needs a way to adjust reservations. First room was awkwardly shaped. Second room better but no side table for bed.

contactless, yet humanless response. Called thousands of times in front of the front door and never responded. Quite frustrating trying to communicate with a human being over the phone after 3pm. There is no elevator and my room was located on the the fifth floor. Awfully inconvenient for those carrying their own luggage.

The staff at The Chelsea was fantastic. I needed first floor accommodations but at the time of my reservation the first floor was being renovated and unavailable. To my surprise, the information that was sent to me the night before my stay, included my first-floor request. Wilma saw that when the first floor was available, she immediately fulfilled that request. This is my second stay at The Chelsea Inn. I would highly recommend staying here. A delightful experience. Thank you.

This was perfect for what we needed it for. It's right on the F train which has stops at Herald Square, Bryant Park, and Rockefeller Center - perfect if you are in the city for Christmassy things. It's in a great neighborhood out of the tourist trap midtown area. The room was small but big enough for three of us (we got a room with a pull out couch). We also had a room with a private bath, which not all of these rooms have (but it's very clear when booking which type you are picking). We were also lucky to be on the 1st floor, since this is a 5 story walk-up. The bed was not very comfortable (sort of caved in in the middle and very squeaky!) but for significantly less money than any other hotel I could find for the busiest tourism week in NYC, it was fine!

Overall, the staying in Chelsea Inn was good. The location is very centered (nearby restaurants, MTA stations, etc.). I just didn’t liked when having an accident in the linen sheets, you don’t have a housekeeper to change it because they have the Policy about asking for housekeeping service the night before. I think it was an excellent quality-price relation.
