Hotel H-Wood

The room smelled like mildew. All the appliances (fridge, tv, etc…) were all unplugged and we couldn’t tell. Had to get the guy working in the office that none of our stuff worked. After about 10 minutes he figured out it was all unplugged. You get 3 towels…no hand towels or washcloths. The bath mat has shoe footprints on it so it was clearly not clean. The pool was absolutely disgusting. There was garbage in it, it had a green film on the floor…I wouldn’t even consider dipping my toe in it. They charge $15 a day for parking in their tiny parking lot. If you’re just looking for a bed to sleep in with zero amenities then this is the place for you.

It’s was 90 degrees in LA booked to use pool and the pool was out of service in addition the rooms are so run down and the fridge didn’t work when it’s so hot outside can’t even keep my drinks cold it was so inconvenient. If the pool is not able to be used it shouldn’t be listed as an amenity

Old carpet in the room I was in, and the TV didn't work (no channels). They did a great job fixing up the outside of it and I have stayed in other rooms that were updated with hardwood floors and was OK, but NOT the room I got this time and I was definitely surprised that they started charging $17 for parking in the lot for the hotel. Kinda BS its not on any info for the hotel when booking online.

The entire property is under construction. I have to duck under boards to get up the stairs, there were live wires hanging from the ceiling to the walkways, there were nails and screws all over the ground, pool was closed with trash all in it. There wasn’t any hot water. None of this was mentioned when booking.l was just surprised with it when I got there. I have several picture ms on how DANGEROUS this place is.

The hotel is currently under construction, it is very messy. The rooms are messy because of the outside mess, there’s scaffolding on half of the building; it was raining and the concrete/spray paint mess was caused inside on their shoes by personnel. Some of the rooms had cracked tile and rotten plywood under the carpet. Also, on one t of the rooms the toilet was leaking. Very disappointed by misrepresentation on Expedia website vs. reality.

its right in the heart of hollywood. clean and simple. but you have to pay to park your car 15 dollars a day.besides that it was worth it

It's not a bad hotel but rooms can be improved,microwave in the rooms are essential, they don't have them, only at the lobby, and now they have started charging 17dls for for parking per night! 😳

Unexpected parking fee of $15. Not the end of the world but still pretty lame. And not mentioned on the site.

They have done a lot of exterior work, but it seems to be poor quality, i saw some of it already failing. Also, there is not much parking and they have a storage container sitting there taking up about 5 or 6 spots. And it looks like they store an old car there too, thats close to half the spaces lost

Everything was okay with the hotel they do have fees so the price u see it’s not what u get no matter if u pay the protection plan. Still gotta pay a 100 dollar deposit and 17 dollars for parking and it’s first come type of parking. The smell was kinda off there was a hole on the wall too but other then that it was alright not worth the price tho.

Stains on shower floor, carpet, doors and woodwork. The room smelled moldy. Dirty bath mat. Outlets hanging out of walls. Ariana on ceiling above bed and drywall damage throughout. Bedside lights didn’t work. I went to the desk asking to switch rooms bc wasn’t as pictured, but they said bc I arrive so late (2am) they had no other options. Very disappointed bc the room was dirty and the door didn’t shut unless I pushed it behind me and dead bolted the door manually. Tv did work. I was able to plug in one bedside table that then allowed the plugged in lamp to work. Overall very disappointed and not as advertised.

Convenient location. Parking on site. Close to all in Hollywood. Fast wifi. Small pool, but nice. Room very outdated, carpet with holes. Bathroom with cracks in floor and overall very dirty. All powerplugs in room very unsafe. Beds with no springs anymore. Door did not close properly and you can see through. Receptio operating hours limited. Ground floor windows do not offer daylight view.

This hotel was TERRIBLE. The room was dirty, smelled bad, and the air conditioner was extremely loud, especially at night. The sheets on the beds had suspicious stains, holes, and did not seem properly cleaned. The lock on our door was also broken and did not seem reliable at night. During our two day stay, multiple centipedes and spiders were spotted, along with flies and mosquitoes that flew in through a widow that we were unable to close. Also, the $15 a day parking was so tight that we had an extremely difficult time exiting.

Not clean bugs in the room and the bathrooms had mold they did help wth a refund hopefully we had to check out

The hotel is an a very well location near Hollywood Boulevard and of course it’s on Sunset Boulevard. The room was very spacious, clean and quiet. Very basic room. No amenities.

Coming into the room we were immediately hit with the smell of mold. Then the room just looked very grubby. Then after looking mold is present in the bathroom. The floors were dirty. The towels were terrible and small. They are obviously aware of the smell of mold because they forgot the bottle of odor eliminator in the bathroom. It’s full of patch work on just about every wall. No hand towels or wash clothes. We’re booked for four and I had to ask the front desk for two more. Overall if we hadn’t checked in so late we would have left. Was a terrible experience and parking is $15 if it’s available.

The room super nice the bed was comfortable When I walk in everything was clean , Bathroom clean , enough towels Would just say I wish there was a microwave in the room for any frozen meals or reheated something , the controller for the tv works I just had stand by the tv to change channels and I wish there was more channels selections , but overall stay was great

What you pay is what you get. The room was VERY dusty (if you put anything on the tables, your belongings would be stained with dirt/dust- housekeeping does not clean surfaces), the phone is only there for show (not plugged in, had only half the buttons), and there is no toilet paper holder. However, they did still provide soap and had a hairdryer which was good. And the person at the front desk was always pleasant! The location is less than a 10 minute walk to Hollywood Walk of Fame, so it was convenient.

The room was fine, but the bathroom was not. The bathroom smelled mildew and the shower head hit me between the shoulders so I had to stoop significantly to get my head under the water. The towels were small and scraggly, but the staff was very nice about providing additional towels when requested.

CONS: Could have been cleaner. The floor had some sort of crumbs on that stuck to my socks. Toilet needed cleaning. Still had remnants from last customer on it. The towels were very thin and in desperate need of replacing. They also did not have washcloths or hand towels. Parking lot was quite cramped. PROS: The bed was huge and comfortable. Location was great. 2 blocks from Hollywood Blvd. Staff was very polite. Easy check in and check out. Noisy location, but the property cannot control that. It's right on Sunset Blvd. You're going to hear city noise and traffic. Overall stay was not all bad. Just the cleanliness and amenities could use improvent.

The pillows need to be upgraded. They were uncomfortable. People next store were up all night with music on-:( Other then that, great location….

It was fine, but certainly run down with lots of “work” going on. It was very convenient to the Hollywood area and we could walk to and from the Hollywood Bowl. The mattress was TERRIBLE. That’s like the most important thing.

Rm 210 has old aircon and does not provide coldness, unable to sleep, too hot in the room and feels like you’re sleeping under the Sun, with small flies flying in the room, pillows were flat or no cushion, no hand towels only bath towels were available.

The front desk employees are very rude. You ask them a question and they sigh and get all rude about it. The room is very ugly, not remodeled like the photos show. I feel like the rooms have bugs in them. Worst stay in a hotel that I had to stay in

The staff are friendly and helpful, especially the janitor. The hotel is near hollywood and also transportation so u can easily going around. Minus point: the bath towel doesnt look clean it feels dirty shouldnt use it.

The new management are very hostile and aggressive. The manager was beating on my door at 3am in the morning asking about a car that did not belong to me. Then days later the owner asked me to move my car even though the car was in a clear parking spot. Additionally, when booking another night the hotel requires you to pay $10 per hour for each hour until checkin of the new reservation. They book the hotel rooms so that they can raise the rates each night. They have harassed me multiple times while I was working in my room. Do not stay at this hotel as they are crooks and com artist. They officially banned me from the hotel for the reason "I do not like you." This is the most unprofessional hotel and there is a reason for the 6 star reviews. Heed my warning do not stay here.

I was not able to check in. There was no one there at the front desk over the course of 3 hours that I was there, I had to get a new reservation at another place. People cursing and sleeping on stairs, absolutely insane that they are trying to charge me when I couldn’t even check in. Should not be allowed on hotels.com. I have 3 videos showing no one there at the desk.

The overall property itself was decently clean.Its just the street that was a little dirty. Did have a problem with my room but they switched me quickly. Problems: Seemed like no matter what room I was in there was always an issue somewhere some small and some big. Maybe the lamp didn’t work, dirty or stained shower floor and stains in the carpet in one room and the other room had cheap paint job, weird smell, similar shower and no lamps besides a light by the bathroom. Both rooms had issues that I didn’t bother the hotel about(seemed like all the rooms were going to have problems). Not so bad: Decent price. Bed seemed to have clean sheets and overall it was a decent bed to sleep on. Has a pool. Close to everything in Hollywood. Front desk agents were accommodating. Overall a decent experience but as it is understood, you get what you pay for. In this case I paid for convenience but not “luxury”(or let’s say a certain level of excellence). If you come understanding what you are paying for and adjust your expectations, you’ll enjoy your stay here

They were in the middle of renovating, but they were very helpful.

The best thing about this hotel is its proximity to the theaters on Hollywood Blvd. I have literally stayed here 10+ times precisely because of its location. I’m a fan of the TCM Festival which is why I’ve stayed here so many times. Because of COVID and other factors, I haven’t been in about 5 years. They are updating the rooms and doing their best to improve things. If you know this area of town, it’s a little on the seedy side- but that’s NOT the hotel’s fault. Things I like: location, friendly staff, clean beds and bathroom, and parking. The parking is free (very helpful) and they have a good size TV and fridge and microwave. The staff did everything they could do accommodate me requests and were very kind. Things for improvement: travelers need a place to hang clothes - I think when they repainted, they didn’t hang up a shelf & bar for hangers. FINAL POINT: Great hotel and location, rooms and staff are nice, well worth the price.

I paid the deposit when i checked in and was told it would be refunded automatically. It still has not been refunded and the number for the hotel is never answered and i cant find a way to contact them to get it returned

Very quiet and comfortable. Was within walking distance of Hollywood Boulevard as well as a couple restaurants.

Location was very convenient to visit Hollywood area attractions. Close by to two Starbucks locations

The hotel is in a neighborhood full of homeless and crazy people (like almost everywhere down on Hollywood blvd and w sunset blvd). The room was just “accettable”, mostly because of the price and the position close to walk of fame and Universal studios but at first impression it was really terrible. So if you’re looking for a cheap accomodation and you’re ready to face quite dirty room and you’re not sensible to an apparent not safe environment you can consider the H-wood hotel.

Great location, near holliwood Bowl

The motel was in the midst of a remodel. The work went on during the day when I wasn't on site. The evenings were quiet and pleasant. The room was clean and comfortable. The location is excellent. Easy walk up to Hollywood Blvd. attractions. Many fast food options just a couple of blocks away. This place is not plush but this is my third visit and I would recommend it.

They were doing remodeling so there was a mess everywhere, pool was blocked off, room smelled like smoke/weed. This room was more of a motel, not a hotel. Only upside is there’s a Chick-fil-A access the street.

Bed bugs.Pool closed by health department, black mold in bathroom, no breakfast as advertised. 1 pillow, no washcloths, no vending machines. It was really bad and I’m not fancy. The guy at the desk was very nice though and they did give me a full refund.

For the amount paid. The room did not smell clean. No continental breakfast for the prize paid.
