Captain John Smith Inn Williamsburg

What I like is that super clean and when there was an issue, the staff took care of it immediately. I wish I wasn’t on the second floor because I had a heavy bag to carry. Late check in and out have a few, but I would stay again if it was on the first floor. 😁

Unfortunately it looked like they hadn’t deep cleaned their rooms in months. Thick layers of dust, rust on metal in the bathroom. Smelled like mold. Outdated and the pictures were FALSE advertisement. Also many other guests complained about the lack of cleanliness

I stayed at Captain John Smith Inn for two weeks while traveling for work, and unfortunately, my experience was extremely disappointing. From the moment I checked in, the room smelled strongly of stale cigarette smoke. During my stay, I encountered multiple roaches, centipedes, and water bugs in the room. To make matters worse, the bathroom ceiling developed a leak. When I reported the leak to management, I expected to be moved to one of the several available rooms. Instead, I was asked to leave the property. No effort was made to accommodate me, offer a room change, or provide any type of discount for the inconvenience. The owner’s wife was especially rude and dismissive throughout the interaction, and my concerns seemed to fall on deaf ears. While the nightly rates may seem affordable, in my experience, you get exactly what you pay for. I would not recommend staying here, especially if you’re traveling for work or expect basic cleanliness and customer service. I’d recommend looking elsewhere, such as Howard Johnson or another motel nearby, where you’ll likely find cleaner accommodations and better customer service for a similar price. 0/10 — I would not stay here again.
