Stonewood Inn & Suites of Carrollton - Smithfield

The floors were sticky the AC barely worked there was no ice machine it was out of order it smelled like sour milk in the hallway it was generally gross

Many improvements have been made - like painting and landscaping but they still have a long way to go. They do not serve any breakfast. Ice machine is continuously "out of order." Check-in takes forever and have trouble finding your reservation (It happened to me and the guy who checked in ahead of me). The TV's are old and small and the hallway carpet needs a good steam clean. Rates should be more in the $55 to $65 range.

Doesn’t offer breakfast, spacious room

The place suited the bare minimum for what I needed. It had two overpriced vending machines, an ice machine that was broken, and weak wifi. It also took time to get to somewhere decent to eat. But it was close to where I needed to be and was cheap. Remember kids, you truly do get what you pay for.

The facility has only the basic stuff for staying, with relatively old furniture, heating/AC, and other equipment, no breakfast or fitness center. But the price is good and matches the level of the facility. It has small refrigerator and microwave, which is convenient. Otherwise our staying was pleasant.

The first rooms tv and phone didn’t work and I had to move my things to another room. They make you pay a $100 security deposit for a room that already has a tv and phone that’s broken. The staff customer service was ok. Hotel.com states that they offer breakfast which they don’t and the coffee wasnt anything special.

No morning coffee in the room or in the lobby, awful bedding, cheap scratchy sheets, half painted, room wasn't ready at check-in had to wait an extra 1.5 hrs in the parking lot.

They renovated but the rooms arent done - the bedding was scratchy, low quality sheets. No coffee supplies for the dirty coffee maker in the room. No morning coffee in the lobby not even hot water for tea. There is no place close to go buy coffee either. Check-in was 3pm, the rooms weren't ready until 4:30 so we had to stand in the parking lot waiting. The computers were down and so they had multiple reservations charged to my account. The screens in the windows were broken so couldn't get fresh air in the room. Overall it's a $56 dollar a night hotel, not $102 that we paid.

I was grateful I only booking it for one night. There were dead bugs in the fridge (took pics) and the freezer in the little dorm fridge was disgusting. I had carry out that needed to be put in the fridge and I lined the shelves with plastic bags I had in the car. I put clean socks on when I got into the room and before I went to bed they were filthy dirty. And then to top that off a bug ran across the sheets while I was settling in. The socks got dirtier in the morning while getting ready, which did NOT include a shower because the tub did not look clean at all. I told the guy in the office about my issues and that I wanted a refund and he said I had to contact the company I booked it thru. ZERO accountability for the condition of the room and zero sympathy for my experience.

The most serious concern was a clear safety hazard: exposed wiring and an active ceiling leak in a main hallway, with an overflowing bucket catching water below it (see photo). This alone should raise red flags for anyone considering a stay here. The issues didn’t stop there. The bed was incredibly uncomfortable—stiff and springy, like sleeping on plywood. The only access to the second floor was via a stairway that was visibly dirty and poorly maintained. The overall cleanliness of the hotel was subpar, with a noticeable musty and smoky odor throughout the building, including in the room itself. In-room amenities were no better. The hair dryer didn’t work (though a replacement was eventually provided), the towels were threadbare and barely absorbent, and the refrigerator was full of condensation with standing water inside—unable to keep even bottled water cool. As for the lobby, the coffee was cold and stale, and the powdered creamer clumped up due to the temperature—making it undrinkable. This hotel appears to be in rapid decline and is in desperate need of serious maintenance, cleaning, and upgrades. I would not recommend staying here until these major issues are addressed. The hotel did not have my booking through Expedia, but fortunately I had the reservation saved on my phone. Photos available upon request.

They lied on the ad its econo lodge your reserving for. The rooms have roaches check you drawers i promise you'll find them and they're baby eggs. The doors that secure the hallway are broken anyone can access them. As soon as you walk into the room you smell a hot musty smell. The front end workers and his coworker promised i would get a refund but that I will have to go thru expedia. When I called 2 days later expedia told me the manager denied my refund. They are a bunch of scammers.

The toilet seat had dried urine on it. The room smelled bad. The toilet had black crud all around the bottom. The shower had stains on the tub bottom and black mold in all of the crevices. The sink had black crud all around the drain.

This property should be closed down. I tried to get the reservation cancel but could not . There was DRIED BLOOD on the floor and not just spots of blood but a 5"x15" length that we cleaned before realizing it was blood, roaches, dirty floors and the toilet broke during the night. They changed the name from Eco Lodge to Stonewood but it is still nasty hotel. The lobby has no AC and one employee that was present sometime. Expedia should ban this property from their website. Sleep in your car its cleaner than this place

This may have been hands down the worst hotel I have ever been to. There was bugs, marijuana under the mattress, hair everywhere in the sheets, and smelled absolutely terrible. I couldn’t get my money back either. I ended up not staying there. Good luck getting hold of a Custer representative. There absolutely no help at all. Very disappointed.

first of all we booked online with Carrollton Inn & Suites and we were looking for Carrollton Inn & Suites & it was an EconoLodge. No one was ever at the front desk, had to call # on sign & from 5pm on Fri til 8am on Sun the same worker was doing everything. I had to sign re: no smoking but the smell of smoke on the 2nd fl was horrendous. room was not ready for party of 4... floors in room were so dirty, could not take shoes off. blow dryer did not work, no tissues, curtains ripped, peope working on landscaping on Saturday, but needed cleaning on the inside much more. No reason to book ahead, had to do everything again when arrived then at check out told to leave key at front desk, no one around, anyone could of taken key. Would definitely think twice when seeing Carrollton Inn & Suites or Econolodge when needing to book a room any where again.

THe hotel was not cleaned the room I checked in was dirty, the bathroom wasn't working properly and it was nasty as well. Hotel room had roaches in it

The employees are absolutely incredible and unmatched. My room very spacious, comfortable bed... Very quiet and all around nice property.

The heat/AC unit in the room was very noisy when it was running. It woke me up every time it started up.

The bed looked very worn out but was actually very comfortable. The sofa needs to be thrown out.

Recently renovated rooms due to new management. Very cold fridge and working microwave. Jacuzzi tub with endless hot water and working jets. HVAC is very effective. Great parking and great location.

The single-pane windows allowed much of the local highway noise into the room and the HVAC was very noisy. The staff was not present at the front desk the three times I approached it; however, responded quickly and was helpful when called on the posted phone number. During my week stay, I went to get fresh towels, but had to return the used ones prior due to their limited supply.

Old mattresses and blankets, curtains had moth holes, property has not been updated in decades. And by the way it has an Econolodge sign not the property name presented by expedia.

This hotel & the staff are amazing. My room is very spacious, clean and I recommend this hotel to anyone. The employees are absolutely incredible! Very happy

Did not get my refund

On arrival had to wait about 10 minutes for someone to come back to the lobby area to wait on me for check in. Once we made it to our room, we discovered that the air conditioner was not cold at all. It was just blowing warm air. Also discovered the air conditioners in the hallway were in the same condition and blowing warm air. would not recommend this place to anyone else and will definitely not come back.

The location was perfect for an event I was participating in. The room was clean and comfy. Some of the outlets were loose, so finding a charging plug that didn't find out took a few looks. The biggest issue was the smell of cigarette smoke near the entrances. I used the side entrance, and the smell hit me like a wall. I had to wait for the staff member, but he was very friendly and attentive. Other than that, it was a great stay. I look forward to returning! OH... and great shower pressure!

The first thing we noticed when we pulled up was that the Hotel had signs all around that it was an Eco Lodge, not "The Stonewood Inn & Suites" The man behind the desk wore a hoodie behind a pane of bulletproof glass and he looked like Emperor Palpatine. He didn't have our reservation through Hotels.com and took forever to check us in. The room was disgusting with a couple dead roaches about and dirt and grime over everything. It was cold and uncomfortable even with the heater there. Lastly, and particularly frustrating is that it is advertised that there is a continental breakfast. There is none. We went to the lobby at around 8am, no one was behind the front desk, there was no food of any kind in the table/counter area. There was one carafe of coffee with coffee so cold that it must have been made the day before. I would have asked for my money back there, but no one ever came back to the front desk. This "Inn and Suites" is more of a no-tell motel with hot and cold running roaches. Avoid at all costs.
